If you can do so get some condition cleanses. That helps allot.

On my warrior & guardian I am running shout builds with trooper runes and it more or less makes condi specs useless.

That being said I have been suggesting since the patch that they make the new resistance boon readily accessible to pretty much every class via either traits, weapon skills or utility skills.

That ^ would bring conditions in line without straight up nerfing them.

If I didnt have condi cleasnse I would have not gotten 50k burning dmg it would have been the same as my health. Condies are to easy to apply and theres not that many condi cleasnse out there to counter.

Shouldn’t you start by nerfing the value to perhaps 75% and allow players “test” from there? Going from 100% to 50% seems a bit extreme does it not? Is the goal to butcher the value and steadily increase it to “work as intended” so people will not complain about vigor constantly being nerfed?

Because they wanted to give engis more dodges than other classe hence the 50% more endurence regeneration trait.

They removed 1 stack of stab from rampage. It’s a good change (for stronghold too).It’s not really hard to interrupt a rampage war with only 2 stab stacks and it’ very vulnerable to condis (blind especially, a thief d/p can troll u if he is decent)

But honestly i’m more scared about AoE MoA (with super short CD) to nullify Lich, Rampage , Tornado etc. + Necro minions.

Yeah, donnu how they can buff Engi to the degree of it becomes god-mode..

Its not suprising since engis have always been anet fav class.

Unlike Engis mesmers needed some buffs to stay in line vs thiefs. I still dont see why engis are complaining they are getting some really strong buff and yet complain of the few tweaks they got.

No. Mes dindt needed any buffs. He was already strong. Thief needed a nerf as he push out all zerk builds. Instead………lets say the faceroll getting real.

Mesmer was never able to wreck every other zerker class to begin with. Medi guard, fresh air ele and GS warriors all have either upper hand or roughly equal with mesmers. The only reason teams take mesmer is because of portal not because it trashes all other zerker spec.

that’s not true…every single build you listed, mesmer have a upper hand, except maybe medi guard

A fresh air ele can destroy a mesmer faster than a thief can IF he gets the upper hand in the fight.

Apart from that, no more ssrb and nades took a hit. I mean we got some nice stuff but with the hits there’s no way engie “won” the balance changes.

Please do something about matchmaking. Today has been the worst matchmaking I have ever had. I have yet to win one game out of 6 or so, I keep getting pugs v premades and teams with 2 to 3 thieves. Also the skill lvls of both team are way out of bounds it’s almost always a one sided battle. IDK check my record for tonight anet maybe it will help or something.

Sorry but I just had to vent the anger out.

P.s. the losing got so bad that I rage quitted when my team had 3 thieves and no one swap to help the comp.

Edit: Manage to win 2 but still took me around 10 straight losses for that. Why is it like that?

Main thing is that this game is not balanced/designed for 1v1, it’s balanced for 5v5 conquest. There’s super cheesy specs in 1v1s, and builds that just can’t be killed 1v1.

If you really want to subject yourself to that, there’s numerous custom arena dueling servers.

The thing is, the game isnt even balanced for 5v5 (everyone is forced to play meta or play from a disadvantage). Since most engages happen in a 1-1-1 points scenario + roamers, your doomed to fight 1v1 at some point. So your 5v5 balance argument doesnt cut it.

And also…

The 5 versus 5 approach doesnt work in the current system since it rarely happens in actuall competetive games. And if it happens they either, rush, get a lead and spread out to take the remaining objectives after whiping an opponents team. Or they lose a lead versus an opponents team and are at a disadvantage. And will need to spread out to retake the objectives.

So in a sense they are making the game contradictory to its ‘core’ map-principles. If it was a 5v5 balance.

Also i noted that the custom arena 1v1 thing doesnt allow for smooth matchmaking, your forced to spam the ‘join’ button to get in a 1v1 in the duel arena’s since there is literally no options for actuall ‘queuing’ in a game. We need a QoL improvement in that sense for that.

Yes. There will be 1v1 situation in 5v5 game. But it is up to your rotation strategy to create favorable 1v1. You can also do something in an unfavorable 1v1, trying to get the most out of it. There is so much dynamic element in a 5v5. Dueling can be fun at times but will never become a competitive game mode.

That’s the thing some people want to actually Pvp and not focus on rotation or side objectives. They should just create a game mode just like Ranbom arenas in GW1 and no, courtyard is nothing close to it.

Im ok with one que for all ONLY if we get something like build templates, reason being that diffrent game mode NEED diffrent builds. Look at courtyard most people hate it because they go in with a build made for conquest insted of Deathmatch and thats one of the reason thres so many one sided matches in that map.

It is a great change. Making pve a bit harder. WvW hammer train will not be imune to ccs anymore. And for spvp stability will have more counters now.

As much as I would like to see a /resign or /surrender option built in, it would have to be done right.

I have yet to be in a ranked or unranked match where both teams would hit the ready button while sitting in their base, so I doubt a /resign would happen either.

But I will say that they could revamp the UI for the ready button to show the amount of ready players underneath it (5 green bars for allies, 5 red bars for opposition) to visually show how close a ready-up actually is.

Better have it and not need it then need it and not have it. (talking bout /resign)

Just had About 3 to 5 straight loses with pug that were just “new”. I dont mind having new people but against high rank people is no fun. Instead of having fun tonight in pvp its just another night of frustration and despair.

PS. thief mesmer dailes are the worst.

The OP already mentioned he is not playing for the daily, learn to read people. Not everybody cares about the worthless achivement points.

Basically if they don’t get the rng working (or take a profession out of the listing after it shows up on the daily) being a main thief, guardian or engineer is kind of risking seeing that kind of match up.

Guardian and thief yes but as far as engis go u can have more then 3 and be ok any cele build not just engis tho

There is value in this idea. Though I’ve not noticed daily-induced class stacking in ranked arena, it can be annoying in unranked. However, I love these daily profession achievements, and so do a lot of other players obviously (hence the profession stacking). It encourages me to play on characters I tend to neglect, making them sad. So making the daily profession random for every player looks like a very inexpensive fix to the problem.

Hopefully a dev will see this post and tell someone about the idea

You should stop playing a class you want to play.
if you don’t want to get tons of thieves in your team.
or either you deal with it.

match making system can only do so much when there’s clearly a absurd number of thieves in pvp since the beginning of the time.

you can’t be expecting the match making system magically poop other classes out of no where.

Im not blaming the matchmaking system im blaming the dailies it makes a lot of people play the same class witch in take makes the matchmaking horrible class wise.

How us as player get a team full of one class and cant switch to better our chances and not get steamroll cuz thats not fun at alll!!!!!!!!!!. This just happend to the other team and the game went to 500 to 60 somthing guess who won. also its not fun for the winning team too imho.

Great tips, Schnicky.

The first 2 minutes of the game are probably the most important for setting your team up for victory. As silly as it sounds, taking 30 seconds to figure out where everyone is going to go right out of the gate is going to give your team the edge in those first engagements. The 0-0-5 splits, or the 0-0-0 5-man chieftain/svanir rush openings happen a bit too often, and are completely avoidable with a bit of education/discussion before the match begins.

Grouch -

Is there any way you can update the pvp tutorial with some of the tips mentioned above?
Currently it just goes over capping a point by standing in it, stomping and rezzing by pressing a button. It doesn’t mention any of the basic mechanics that the new population in pvp simply does not have at the moment.

Such as mentioned above can be a start to helping people on their way.
However right now they don’t know any better than to double cap points because nowhere they saw it doesn’t go any faster, or they know when the big buffs of temple spawn and they should leave side buffs alone unless they’re confident enough. (No one reads the texts before games either) Or stuff like looking at the map and not afk on one single point.

Please educuate your new players better on this stuff.

And tell them to roll engis and Eles in the tutorials since they anets favorite classes especially engis…………

Anyway, I think cele is fine since the two professions that use it are also fairly hard to play[maybe not turret engi, but y’know] in the first place. I’d say nerf the “Experimental Turrets” trait, which gives buffs passively based on the turret. In this way, the engineer gains perma-buffs and puts them on a stupid advantage. Maybe shave turrets and compensate with buffing elixirs and gadgets to become viable.

Wait, how is ele/engi hard to play? Is it the 2 many buttunz?
PS Celestial isn’t the issue. Literally 2 classes benefit from it so how exactly is it “op” again?

when team comps needs 2 of each to be able to compete.

I’d doubt it, the majority of people think Guard is “fine”. However, the longer you play the class, the more you see its shortcomings and limitations. When most people think of Guard, first thing that comes to mind is support bunker.

Sure, bunker Guard is fine, however it’s not needed anymore and can easily be replaced by other classes such as an ele. This is because these classes can fulfill the Guard’s role and even surpass them in many other ways, such as damage.

When it comes to med Guard it’s even worse. There is absolutely no reason to even bring a med Guard over another zerker class. Very limited mobility (FB, JI, and LoF) not even going to mention MI because it’s still garbage. Extremely predictable and easy to read burst (wish more classes where like that, but that’s a different story). Also it’s a profession that primarily focuses on melee combat, yet it lacks the soft CCs, and you have to use sigils and runes to try and make up for it. There hasn’t been one major champion winner that had a dps Guard on the team, and that alone speaks volume about its state.

So yes technically Guard is “fine”, however it’s pretty outclassed in the current meta. Sorry for the rant, it’s just frustrating to see.

No Med guard is v strong vs a lot of matchups. Its just Ele rly, too much spam, hits too hard, perma protection. No real cooldowns to avoid minus a knockdown which is easy and isn’t a game changer.

I really wouldn’t go as far to as to say “a lot.” War, thief, and mesmer are the only match ups that are heavily in favor of Guard. An ele and condi ranger are almost guaranteed to beat a med Guard. Engi also has a slight edge, and with Necro it can go either way depending on the build.

Yes, med Guards are viable. However, there are reasons why you don’t see many of them being used in top tier matches. Nevertheless, med Guard is in a weird spot, In lower and average tier matches they perform quite well and even great depending on the player. However, the higher you go, the less useful they become. Which leads to the problem of buffing them. If you buff them to make them more viable in high tier matches, they then become insanely OP for everyone else.

As much as I hate it, this is a case of leaving well enough alone.

That’s why I’m suggesting a slight change to the weapons not the traits or the skills they just need that tiny push to make them viable. A good range weapon is a nice start It’s super easy to kite a Med Guard. I’m not asking for a mega buff to make them super OP I just want them on par with the rest

It is kinda frustrating watching every other class get buff and we stay basically the same. I guess not many people ( or any) in ANET plays guard so they don’t know what needs a buff and what doesn’t. I still say a few tweaks to the Guard weps will go a long way in the right direction.

So why can a war move while spinning to knock people down and an engi and NOW move while using his shield yet a guard can’t move while doing #5 hammer and can’t move while using #5 shield ? Also the only good Dps wep a guard has is Greatsword and semi good range wep(scepter). If Sword would be a ranged wep like its #2 skill It would be awesome. Can guards get some of that love that engis get?

Kinda late tbh I went from playing pvp every single day for hours to playing twice every 2 weeks and decreasing as time goes by, I guess I got tired of waiting on something that’s just not coming. Conquest got stale and boring after the first years if not sooner and its been like what 2yr and half. I have faced the reality that Pvp is not that high of a priority to anet( not saying your not trying to make pvp better) and that it will provably wont be until it’s too late. I am sorry but I guess I lost faith in GW2, I’ll still play it(from time to time) but not with the passion that I once had for it.

Yeah you get that on any map from what I seen. I get it a lot with my medi guard, I teleport to the enemy and then it just ports me back to my original location where I activated the skill. doesn’t happend all the time maybe twice every 4 matches.
