I was wondering if they are already offering kitten bundle for both, can I get the code separately and do what I wish with it?
I think thats fair considering the bundle already includes this. Can a ANET employee confirm this?
Thank you

Vetted the statement…. made by CJ back in January ‘14. It is December ’14 now and we haven’t heard anything more regarding it.
So can I safely assume that they might be working on it? Or was it just a blunder in an interview to impress/engage viewers?

How about no sub and try to be nothing like wow as it is a failure as a template due to the inability for anyone to recreate its success. It should never be used as a model because the gameplay isnt its strong point. The investment of the players and atmosphere are and you cant copy that without copyright infringement. The only mmo that can follow that old crap model is wow 2 with all the characters and places the fans love.
Simple fact is content and gameplay in gw is just all around better and should be the mainstream model such as upcoming Black Desert Online is doing modeling gw combat which i totally agree with.
There will never be another wow situation even for blizzard because it was at a good time for release and they built the atmosphere over a decade with the RTS warcraft games. Gameplay is dated and nothing to lose yourself over… Basically why I left
This.
WoW have been the “first MMO” for a lot of people. Many of WoW’s playerbase is their playerbase because of nostalgia, friends or because they think that they have invested a lot in the game to leave it and go now. Thats how WoW is retaining most of it’s playerbase.
WoW, compared to the newer game is really lagging. The combat feels static, the world feels ancient (even WoD) and the community is full of “elitist”.
Don’t get me wrong, I have played WoW for a good amount of time but it doesnt just feel “exciting” to me. And thats my opinion.
As far as sub or no-sub. I think I would pay as content delivers, and not be an “angel investor”- Pay and HOPE they make something. Its only fair
Here are few from me:
- I have 5 Characters, 4 of them are Humans and the last is Charr. I HATE my Charr and still wish I could change the race of that Charr
- I have forced myself to try other races from time to time but each time I create a non-Human race, I start hating it after about 20 level or so and then trash it (I have deleted a level 70 Sylvari because I didnt like it at all)
- I have spent more than 600g in Mystic Forge without ever getting anything good.
- I have never had any good drops from any Dungeons and even swore on my best friend (who frequently dungeons with me) when he got Incinerator precursor.
-
Hardly any new content?!!!!!!!!! look at what other Sub based MMO’s (looking at you WoW) put out in their first 2 years and GW2 is either on par with them or blows them out of the water. All for free!!
And if you think GW2 is exceptionally buggy then you must be new to the MMO genre. It’s about the same with any other MMO I have played. Especially with new patches.
In 2 yrs wow had an expansion not some gimmick LS
Every game is buggy, but anet takes forever to fix them.
In two years, WoW had an expansion which anyone can complete in about 2 days. No new gameplay, predictable storyline. Buggy launch, and still buggy features (main features which is actually needed to proceed). Also with every expansion, old content is obsolete.
I like how GW2 is. I am not a fan of LS and love dungeons, but I still like it better than other MMOs out there. I can only wish there were more dungeons in this game. I would be happy to just hear that they have new dungeons in their plans.
Hello,
I am return to GW2 after about 6-10 months. It’s hard to read all the updates posts for last one year, so if someone can again help me, please summarize major updates that happened during my absence.
The last major update for me was Ascended Armors. Can someone fill me up with everything that happened after that, just titles, I will google the details.
I love the suggestion but I would like to put some thoughts:
- I think dungeons is about how a party work together. Individual skills should not be tested, team skill should be.
- I do dungeons regularly and I know how most people (90%) population running dungeon react if someone do not know how to go through a part of that dungeon. If an individual fails, he will be frowned upon, kicked out of anger or people will simply ragequit.
- After a point, this will get just boring and repetitive. If there is a “pool” of such random events, where you can face any random challenge, it’d be great. Similar to fractal, where you can never guess what’s coming next. Makes it exciting for most of us.
I’ve been keeping tabs on the group finder. It seems that the vast majority of people who use it for explorable dungeons insist on experienced dungeon runners only.
I don’t care if the alterative takes me longer to get the weapon just as long as I don’t have to deal with that exclusionary attitude.
I don’t do dungeons enough to be considered experienced nor do I think I should have to in order to obtain a weapon that largely for art.
The only idea I can think of is to allow of an exchange of laurels for tokens. A one for one exchange would work for me. I understand that would take me considerably longer than someone who does run dungeons but I’m ok with it.
Thanks.
If you create your own ad saying that you are new to the dungeon and need help, I think many will readily help you as long as you are 80
Another option is to ask guildies or in LA.
If you see me in game, feel free to give me a shout. I’ll be glad to help out. You can use my TS3 while we run around too.
Thanks for replying Aria.
I will contact you in-game when I get a chance.
So if it’s English, it wouldn’t be considered spam although you might not even read them anyway if it’s not meant for you? Are you implying that you read everything on your chat even if it’s not meant for you? Why would it matter to you if the texts that appear on your chat are English or martian if they’re not meant to be for you anyway? If I don’t care about the msg appearing on my chat, even if it’s English, then it’s just texts appearing on my chat, why would it bother me? If it’s text clustering then it doesn’t matter if it’s English or non-english because both can create text clustering and that’s a totally different issue.
If you’re talking about Chinese flooding TEAM chat or Map chat in WVW then I might see your point. But now it seems to me that you don’t want to see anything non-english on your screen whatsoever.
I am confused with your reasoning. And it seems to me that you just don’t want to see non-English. And that is not a valid reason to be taken seriously because it is perfectly a form of discrimination. You can glorify your reasoning whatever you want.
From non-native English speaker.
I am non-native English speaker too, but I think its common sense to talk in a language which majority of people understand in any public chat
Saying that the message should be ignored because “its not meant for me” makes no sense. In that case maybe people are stupid to call gold sellers “spammers” because obviously that message is not for them and according to you, they should just ignore it.
I would also like to point out these scenario when a message appears in my chat.
- /map- The message here is meant so that everyone can undersand
- /party- The message here is meant so that everyone in party can understand. Unless its my fault and I joined an advertised “non-English” party, I think the chat should be in English
- /team- Same as party chat
- /whisper- If you are messaging me in a language I cannot understand, I am obviously the wrong person.
- /guild- No problems here, because I have an option to choose the guild.
- /say
So I think, maybe with an exception of /say, if I see a message, I should be given a chance to understand, interpret and then decide if that message is for me or not.

I don’t want to spend much time to max it , how much gold will it cost to do it ?
Why do they salvage ectos ( will get much by selling them ) ? Can’t they just salvage blue items as the quality doesn’t matter ?
Does the salvage tool type affect the chances of getting the essences ?
The salvage tool type does not affect the chances of getting the essence or the rarity of essence you get. I think I read this somewhere on wiki or forums.
I think Ectos are better for three reason:
- You can buy 10-20k of it and salvage it to get the essence in one run. The blues and greens take up lot of bag space.
- Ectos give from 3-8 Essence (Blue one) where as equips gives a max of 2-3 if I am right
- Ectos also give dust
I am sorry I forgot to mention that.
Server: NA
Objective is to have fun, gold will just come along with completion of dungeons
Hello,
I am looking for friends with whom I can run Dungeons with while talking on a VoIP service. I mostly play anytime from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm (GMT +5:30 time zone)
This can include:
- CoF
- HoTW
- Arah
- AC
- CoE
- SE
Ready to try other options too.
If anyone is interested, they can message me here or in-game. Thank you
Mentioning the site name on forum is as good as advertising it. I’d suggest that you edit your post to remove the website name.
Apart from that, I am irritated with gold sellers too. And specially because I keep getting mails from them. I have reported them everytime but it doesnt look like they can be stopped.
Why do you want to make as much gold as possible? What are you looking to buy with it? Do you realize that nearly all exotic items are bought with alternate currencies like dungeon tokens or karma?
There’re so many things the tokens or any other currency can’t buy. And even if they can, you wont get them in bulk quantities.
Asking why do you need gold would be like asking someone in real life “What’d you do with that money?”
Anyway, to answer OP. I do these dungeons to earn gold
- CoF p1- 1 gold
- HOTW p1- 1 gold
- AC p1 and p3- 3 gold
- Arah p2- 3 gold
So you earn 8 gold in total (should take a maximum 2.5 hours to 3 hours) just from the floating chests, this is not including the additional 25-30s you get from dungeon completion or drops from monsters.
Another Dungeon I find profitable is Fractals Of Mist. You can get lucky with exotic drops here. I have had been as lucky as getting 3 Exotic in a run, earning about 6g from them. (And I personally think Ascalon Fractal drops great loot)
I like EverthingEnds.4261 suggestion and would not agree too Flanar.5981 suggestion since map chat imo is where I have most problem with it, so if I where to use Flanar.5981 idéa I would block my own language since I like to speak in my native language in my guild or with my friends I party with. What I don’t like is people who disrespectfully speak in a non-english language when there are others who are “listening” and can’t understand.
If I see someone speak like spanish in my group I kindly ask them if they would mind to speak english, if they do not accept that I either block them or leave the group since they are not serious enough to be concidered worth listening too.
Map/team/say chat is though a little bit more different and I do like EverthingEnds.4261 sulotion to that.In the end it is all about too respect others, just the same with cursing.
My opinion.
As much as I like his suggestion, I have played enough MMORPG to know that there will be people who will still abuse these system.
About the filter, what I was trying to suggest was a filter that can be customized for every language, not just one option to block non-English language.
I bet if we ask nicely, most people would happily provide a list of Auxiliary verbs and characters of their language to create a list of filter.
Anyway, I will leave it upto Anet how they do it. In the end, I just want dont want other languages to be seen in my chatbo
I would love to have such feature.
I wanted to suggest something similar since a long time. Its a tedious task to change all armors, weapons and traits every time you want to go from PvE build to WvW.
About it being a Gem Store item, I am not sure. I think such a necessary feature should be provided for free. Atleast one extra “profile” should be available for free.
I like the Character selection screen the way it is. Simple and detailed. I wouldn’t want to change it.
If there was a dynamic loading screen (Like Assassin’s Creed), maybe I would have agreed. But the Character Selection screen is perfect imho.
Whats the problem there?
Maybe you just shouldnt join teams or parties writing in languages you don’t want.
Additionaly, in a party it should be easy, to agree on writing english, as there are only 5 players.
If this isnt possible, you shoud maybe leave the party. In addition, the “spam”-factor of foreign languages is in a party probably not as high as in map chat.
Its hard to determine whether people in my party are English speakers. I have specifically mentioned “English speakers only” and yet after having done 50% of dungeon people start chatting in other language. I dont wish to leave party because I that will mean having my time wasted so I have to forcibly endure the annoying chat. I cant block them, in case they say something important.
I really think its easier to just implement a filter instead of multiple channels.
Easy solution:
Make “Map-Chat-Channels”.
The would be a Channel for every (at least the most commen) languages.
Everybody is then free to choose, which channels he wants to join.
Then everything you write only gets displayed in this channel.Example:
Available Channels: English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, All
-> Join “English-Channel” -> you only see what ppl write in this Ch and only can post in this Channel
The problem is not just with Map chat. Team chat, squad, party or even /say.
The solution shouldn’t be hard. They already have profanity filter which works. Its just a matter of adding more options to control it and adding keywords to the blocking filter.
(edited by Flanar.5981)
How much bandwidth would be required to translate ALL player text to the language you specify in Options? It would probably be a ton, but it would resolve the issue. Everyone would be able to understand everyone else…or at least get the basic meaning of what they’re saying. Oh the lag!!!
It would be very hard to translate messages. Not only that, translations wont be accurate either. So its better to have no translation than wrong translation
Unfortunately, you cant blame the farmers for their behaviour. Everyone likes to get more gold.
The best way to solve this would be to measure the time taken to do and activity and reward it in that way.
What I mean by this is, ArenaNet can calculate the gold a farmer earns /hour through these chain and reward atleast 70-80% of that for the dungeons that require the same time.
This would encourage people to do something else to earn gold and not just grind.
Maybe its my thinking but when a player is grinding, its actually a loss for someone else. Because that player could have done something better and more fun with a person who is in need of a party.
I think there can be exchanges like:
5 Ascended Rings = 1 Ascended Ring of your choice
10 Ascended Rings = 1 Ascended Accesory.
20-25 Ascended Rings = 1 Ascended Backpack
20-30 Ascended Rings = 1 Ascended Weapon (Random)
This would also help me use all the tokens that are just lying around in my Bank.
Basically exchanging Ascended Rings for Ascended Gears
About how the program decides how to block a message: They can use a set of auxiliary verb each language use to create a list of “Blocking Filter”.
Since most of the sentence use Auxiliary verbs, almost all the chats will be filtered out.
For language which dont use English alphabets, its easier to filter them by the character
The players can help creating a list of these keywords.
Do people choose the language they are speaking in beforehand? Does the server check every character to see if it isn’t English? If just one character isn’t English does it still block the message? If not where is the cutoff? Expect massive lag if the server has to check every message (maybe every character) to check if it is in English, who has the filter on who has what language filter and do this for everyone receiving the message in say or map chat. Arena net would also need to invest in the technology to make this happen
1: People can select/unselect the language they wish to block anytime.
2: The language filter can work the same way the profanity filter in the game does. That is, there can be 3 modes (soft, medium or hard filter) which can block a message based on % of non-English characters in it.
3: The server does not have to deal with the messages. The program can work at client side. Your client receives every message. But decides and only allows the user to see the message he desires to. I know this algorithm can be complex but I doubt the change will be very vast. Since we already have profanity filter, maybe all they have to do is add extra options to control the language and add tons of keywords to filter.
Embedding the code at client side might mean that the software will require more processing more when the filter is turned on, but I think its a nice option to have.

Just wait until asian servers are up and your problem will be mostly solved.
What you’re asking for is text recognition software embedded within translation software that is hooked up to some sort of automated message-deletion service. There are no rules that say you cannot speak in foreign languages, and it would be completely un-user-friendly to squelch an entire demographic(s) based on your perceived need to have a “clean and pure” chat.
That’s not just morally being wrong, its morally being an kittenhole.
You make me sound like a jerk while I am trying to present this is the softest way I can.
I am not against people talking in any other language, even I do that with friends. I am just saying don’t do it on map chat or /say, where majority cant understand you.
Its annoying to have 2 people conversing on some other language in map chat. And it happens more often than not.
Personal trade systems of any kind are the single most exploited aspect of every MMO.
These systems are how people dupe to make more of the same item. I am glad they had the foresight not to put any in the game.
I dont wish to sound like a jerk here, but as a programmer, I think that if a piece of code can be exploited, its the fault of the programmer not the user.
This is not an original suggestion, just stealing it from some other game.
What I am suggesting is that you give us a custom filter that filters out and blocks some message. Now what I meant with “custom” filter is that we can add our own keywords that we think a potential spam message will contain (example: “g0ld” “WWW” “$15”).
The reason to have a custom filter is because everyone will have their own set of avoidable keywords which they can edit at their will, this will avoid the spammers from knowing what words they should not use in their message in order to “spam effectively”.
Oh, and to an extend, it can be used to fulfil the other suggestion I made in the forum (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Block-any-message-that-is-not-English-1/first#post3177024)
This seems a bit tedious to me, sorry, but there should be a trade system and the trade post used as a way to trade to people you don’t know across servers.
(like an auction house, without the bidding)
I agree that it sounds too much work.
I also agree that there should be a personal trade system. I have no idea why a MMORPG does not have that. It has always made me wonder.
(edited by Flanar.5981)
I hope that ArenaNet does something about it, the server is an English Server. I dont mind people speaking in their Native language. But I want them to keep it in a channel where others dont mind. And specially not public channels like /say and /map
As was pointed out in the previous thread, there is no such thing as an “English” server. Any server not labelled as a specific language (e.g. [FR], [DE], etc) is international and anyone is free to speak any language they like in those servers. What you should be pressing ANet for is an English-only server.
My bad then, I assumed that since the servers are “NA” they were English server.
But even if its Internation server, I think its rather unpolite to talk in any other language than English in Map or /say chat, since everyone should be able to understand what a random person is saying and English is officially accepted language in most of the countries. But that might again be what I am thinking.
Also, just for the record, English is not my first language (heck its not even the language of the local people around me).
(edited by Flanar.5981)
I doubt it will happen at least you only see them in the evenings.
I am normally a third shift worker EST so I play at odd hours, but I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago so I could play at time I normally could not. So somewhere during the past year the server I’ve played on since the head start must have become the unofficial server of Brazil.
Portuguese is starting to flood the map chats. I hope that Anet has some translators among their moderators as if getting verbally abused for breaking a champ train wasn’t bad enough now you get it multiple languages.
The problem is, I only play in evening. And with my channel flooding with characters of Chinese, it gets impossible for me to see my Guild Chat or any sensible map chat (which rarely happens).
Another thing I found annoying is, few times when I used LFG tool to get a party, two people started to chat in party chat in Chinese. I asked them to take their chat in PM since the rest of us couldnt understand, but they started abusing me, calling me “racist” (what?) and then kicked me out.
I hope that ArenaNet does something about it, the server is an English Server. I dont mind people speaking in their Native language. But I want them to keep it in a channel where others dont mind. And specially not public channels like /say and /map
I am creating this thread again because last one was taken down due to some people having an unintelligent racial argument.
Anyway, what I am suggesting is to be able to block any chats in any channel that isn’t English. Since during evening time in my server, there are many people talking in Chinese, it spams up my chatbox with something I dont quite understand, hence making it a “spam” for me.
With that said, I dont think that chatting in any other language is bad, its just annoying if others can’t understand you. Imagine me writing my post in my 1st Language. I know it will be annoying to many others who are in a NA server to communicate in English.
I hope this will not turn out like last thread, so please keep the discussion civil.
EDIT: I know there’s a block button, but I dont wish to use it because in scenarios like WvW, if the player wishes to deliver an information, in English, I would like to see that message. Also they didnt do any thing wrong to get “blocked”
(edited by Flanar.5981)
Mostly PvE, and how should I go about gearing?
You can also try to do CoF p1. CoF has a set of Berserker gear, and p1 wont be very hard for you anyway, as long as you dodge.
This is a slow method, but this way you can earn gold while collecting CoF tokens for the Armor
Edit: You have 27g, so spending some to gear up wont hurt. And I think it should not cost you more than 10g to get the armor pieces (Runes not included). This way, you can atleast do the easy dungeons like CoF and AC
(edited by Flanar.5981)
I bought 5 BL keys a few days ago thinking that each chest gives one scrap. After opening them, I just got 2.
I definitely don’t think the chests are worth buying. Specially now, with the Gem price soaring through the roof
Hi, I am completely new to GW2. Any help will be appreciated. Of most importance, I’m stuck on which server / world to choose. I see there are many of them (USA) and I have no idea what factors or criteria to consider to make a smart selection. I read a pop up message saying that I will not be able to change servers unless I pay a fee, so I’m trying to make a wise decision. Thank you!
Hello Lordicus,
After changing like 2-3 servers, I personally would suggest you to take up any T1 server. That is Jade Quarry, SOR or BG.
The reason I suggested these server is because they are pretty intense when it comes to WvW and if you wish to do WvW sometime in future, these server might help you greatly.
Even if you dont like WvW, I think there are many people on these server who do everything else too. And with a good guild, its not hard to find friends to play with.
I play in Jade Quarry, came here from Anvil Rock. The reason for me to change the server was I wanted a better WvW server. I still have friends in AR and play with them whenever I want by guesting on their server.
Combination of CoF/Arah armors (will change the shoulders to T3 cultural when I have the gold)
The bloodstone is definately excessive in amount while the Dragonite is very rare for me (I dont really get to do world bosses).
I would have loved it if the sources were not fixed and you could get one of the 3 Ascended mats randomly. Atleast that would even out the mats and I wouldnt end up having 20 Bricks of Bloodstone and not one Dragonite Ingot
I swear I posted this topic but anyway.
I was wondering what is the best way to farm Karma now? With the recent annoying changes to Karma, I cant find a way to get 900k Karma in without spending months.
I know Fractals and WvW are the best way to get Karma, but is there any other option apart from these two?
Can anyone please suggest me a good way to get Karma? Thank you
Hello,
I am one of those people who dont like to level up my alts. Leveling three characters to 80 is enough for me and I would really like some better option to level (apart from crafting).
What I am thinking is, since we have already “experienced” leveling up our characters, wont it be cool if the amount of exp required for Alts would be less. (In a way, out 80ed level characters will be teaching our new characters some tricks to gain maximum experience as they train).
Exp reductions:
One 80 level Character- 5% Exp reduction
Two 80 level Character- 7.5% Exp Reduction
Three 80 level Character- 10% Exp Reduction
And so on, so forth.
If possible, dont have to make this a compulsion, so those who enjoy leveling, can still do that.
Another option is, “Frozen Exp”. You can “Freeze” some amount of exp your level 80 gains, then give this Frozen Exp as a bonus to the lower level character you are leveling as a bonus.
For example: If I have frozen 1000 exp, and if my lower level character earns 100 exp, he can be awarded 10% more exp from the frozen exp pool.
Looking forward to hear everyone’s views on this.
Thank you
Yea, I agree. The amount of Karma you get is very less.
I was thinking about starting the process of crafting Twilight. But getting 900kish Karma is more scary to me than getting Dusk.
I dont know why all game make one mistake: If some people have kittenload of something, they’d end up making that thing hard to get, making it harder for even those who had little amount of the said item.
A simple solution would be adding a cap limit to it.
Hello Veron.
Thank you for replying
I have not yet managed to find a guild. I replied to your ingame mail.
Thank you
I really love the idea of playing with time. There’s so much Anet can do to make this fun and an exclusive gameplay.
I have a few suggestions for slot skills (I havent read all the threads so hopefully these suggestions are not already made):
Quantum Leap:
When used, the Chonomancer uses itself as a human shield against all the incoming projectiles heading towards allies. The Chonomancer slows time making it appear that he moves so fast that it appears as if multiple of his illusions have suddenly summoned.
The Chonomancer takes all the blocked damage. Gains stability for the duration of this skill.
Become one with light: (similar as Blink and Lighting flash)
The chonomancer moves to the targetted location so fast, it looks as if he has teleported. Leaves a trail of his armor color from the source to destination.
crafting ascended weapons takes a rather large armount of raw material. I propose a system where each consecutive craft reduces the amount of bulk items required until a minimum amount is reached.
Crafting your first ascended weapon kind of feels like an accomplishment. It takes a lot of time to gather all the items and some planning on how to gather them, but after the first time comes the second, and third, and forth and then a couple more because just one weapon does not really suffice with swapping and having different builds. And then the accomplishment becomes a chore.
E.g. to make a single ascended weapon it takes a total of 1700 wood logs of various kinds. Which is about 425-500 trees.
To counteract this, each time an item such as a spiritwood plank or a glob of elder spirit residue is crafted, the amount of bulk items that are required to make it is reduced by a percentage. Obviously a minimum amount of material required must be defined, let’s say 1/5 of the original.
Might also prevent some serious deforestation issues i guess.
I agree with you here. The materials required is ridiculous and I really hate the amount of grinding I have to do for all. I bought GW2 for the sole purpose of not being forced to grind. While woods and other normal mats can be bought from TP, ascended materials cannot be. And I really dont wish to run around in Cursed Shore/ML/ToD for Dragonite thing
Through what you suggested, I would have an option for less grinding and playing more of what I enjoy.
Thanks Sedanis. I’ve mailed you ingame
Hello,
I am looking for a good guild in the server Jade Quarry (NA). I have four 80 level character:
Guardian
Warrior
Elementalist
Mesmer
The guild I am looking for should not force me to do something (example WvW all day long), once in a while it is okay for Guild missions or WvWing during reset. (I used to be in HzH until they made WvW a compulsion.)
I usually do Fractals/Dungeons and I would love a guild where I can freely talk, discuss and recruit people for the same.
If anyone is interested in inviting me. Please PM/Mail me in-game. Thank you

run spirit builts
they are somehow easy to learn with a shortbow
Ah okay. I will try that build. Was never fond of it personally
Hello,
I am playing Guild Wars 2 after a gap of around 2-3 months and wish to know if there was a list of changes done to sPvP in these two months. I could not find it in the wiki
Apart from this, I want Ranger players to answer these two questions.
1: Are Trapper Ranger still effective in killing in Hot Join and Tournaments?
2: Currently the best build for Ranger? I want a build with maximum mobility, that is, avoiding closed ranged combat (anything below 600 Range).
