How does nec, thief, etc. come close? Blind (or vuln) is hardly relevant. Invis neither and it’s also impossible to pull off with random people. Only thing which warrior is lacking is reflection at VW, Teq and perhaps Triple Worm, not sure.

Matchmaking is always trying to make 50/50 matches. There is no active streak-prevention built into matchmaking other than the fact that your MMR adjusts each game. Since you’ve been playing so much, your MMR is ‘certain’ and changes slowly. It has certainly adjusted over the course of the weekend, though.

I suggest watching your game history via a site like http://gw2efficiency.com/account/pvp that uses our new PvP API. This way you know exactly what streaks you’re on.

Edit: Both your streaks were when you played Engineer, which has a lower profession MMR than your account and other professions. Looks like you win more often on Thief

Isn’t that kinda frustrating? I mean now when I know that, I can pretty much always go AFK the match after I won, because game will make me lose sooner or later. So there’s no motivation for me to play the match, right?

And If I want to have a better chance at winning, I just go AFK in 10 matches and play after that 10 losses?

You deal no or barely any damage in stealth, You can’t spam stealth in WvW. You can’t cap while being invisible in PvP. Spamming stealth is useless. If the enemy does, just go somewhere else.

GW2 is a casual game. How do you feel about Ranger LB spamming, Warrior Rampage Auto Attack spamming, D/D Ele repeating his rotation, Necro minion master, etc.? There’s nothing deep behind it mostly. Why should stealth be treated different?

Don’t forget that Anet added lots of passives or buffed passives in the last patch. Thus Anet doesn’t share that vision of yours, how game should be played.

No, celestial ele is completely fine. Zerker/Marauder ele can hardly compete with other dps specs. People need to stop focusing on the only viable meta build and actually realize that not everyone wants to play it. Some people want diversity as well.

no, its ridiculous how you need to spam buttons as ele and make combos etc when some ez class like ranger click 2 buttons and deal 5x more dmg than you xD

look how combos looks as d/d ele and how combo looks as ranger ^^

ranger is running marauder gear instead of celestial gear. naturally his skills do more damage.
just use your combos, block his projectiles, chain cc him, chill him and suddenly ranger does no damage at all.

How do you want to kill a d/d ele with 1200 blink? you can’t even immobilize him properly (really strong active + passive condi cleanse) and the massive amount of dodges, heal, tankiness and blind makes bursting him impossible (unless you’re outmanning him 3 vs 1 or he’s really low on CDs)

if ele has 1200 blink thief can’t even chase ele anymore (and if he does he has like 1 init, easy kill).

go in 2 vs 1. get to 20% after long time (spvp), teleport out (no class can hit you) heal 5 secs, 90% again. repeat.

hint: he’s not going to stay in your ice bow and meteor shower

Thief can hardly compete with other bunker, bruiser specs. That’s just it. I’d like diversity myself too, but GW2 is the wrong game for that.

Celestial ele is absolutely OP right now, which is why any buff to it, is very bad for the game.

Lich does need a nerf, there’s literally nothing you can do against ranged auto-attacks that kill you if you get hit twice. Lich damage should be nerfed by probably 50%, and they definitely shouldn’t have stability since they can already kite with ranged attacks. Warrior rampage is fine, it’s honestly a l2p issue if you can’t deal with this. Work on timing your dodges and using soft cc and rampage becomes a joke, very easy to deal with.

I countered your argument already… SW is less boring than dungeons. You’re doing it wrong. Only purpose of dungeons is to either make gold or go competitive, which isn’t up to debate, because OP is looking for a gold making guild. Everything you say about SW is valid about dungeons too. I can only pity you if you think 2 year old dungeons, which you have done 1000 times before, are not boring. Especially when you think about the fact Anet officially declines dungeons, refuses to fix gameplay bugs and won’t add new dungeons in the future. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to make you feel bad about running dungeons. If you want to refuse the harsh reality and make yourself feel comfortable with running dungeons, so be it.

He’s looking for a money making guild. The desire to improve is given by achieving higher GPH with little cost. That’s the same for running dungeons and Silverwastes. SW has superior GPH and less cost than dungeons (like I pointed out).

The reason why many people farm gold is to craft a legendary / ascended stuff. Once that’s done there’s no purpose to collect gold anymore.

You can play the market which is solo only.
You can find a hardcore PvE guild which do tours everyday which is over 50g a day.
You can farm SW which you’ll uninstall the game after few hours of boredom.

You can farm SW and watch a film, read comics, listen to music etc. in the meanwhile.
Dungeons are also highly repetitive and boring, you need to go Teamspeak and you even have to look at the screen the whole time making sure you don’t make mistakes.

Hell Dungeons are the same everyday, maybe little difference with conversation with your party, but farming SW is DIFFERENT everyday. Eat when you want, listen to different music everyday, watch a different movie, read a cool book, play with your dog, don’t care about cat sitting on keyboard, also talking with people, you can do homework, you can play other game which doesn’t require so much attention, you can fap if you like, etc. etc.

Possibilities are endless, thus SW is a much better experience than dungeons.

Another thing which I like to mention is that if you farm dungeons you are creating new gold which results in inflation (unhealthy), if you farm SW you create less gold, but get more gold from other people and pay taxes (not unhealthy).

SW farmer = good guy, cares for his environment and economy, makes T6 materials and exotics cheaper, less inflation, allowing noobies to catch up and get legendaries themselves= hero
dungeon farmer = egocentric guy who only cares about himself thinking running dungeons is fun = bad guy inflating game economy = evil villain

Ferocity makes your crits actually matter. I wouldn’t write off this stat.

Power makes my non crits and crits matter and Precision makes me able to crit, making Ferocity useful and also triggering my Air and Fire sigil. If I opt to go critical strikes my precision also turns into ferocity.

Of course it’s not okay, but the point I’m making is that an LFG description isn’t ironclad and doesn’t necessarily represent the views of the entire group. Sometimes people change their minds, or the party gets hijacked, anything can happen between the posting and starting the path… PUGs are volatile.

People saying one thing and doing another has always been a major IRL problem, and it’s completely unrealistic to expect MMOs to be exempt. It sucks but there is a very simple solution: Don’t PUG until you can handle it.

Sorry for the confusion, that was directed at Flaw, not you. You’re not the one who was railing against someone who joined an ‘all lvl, all welcome’ group at-level, calling it “toxic” and “bad behavior” :P I shoulda quoted.

You are correct — the description may not agree with what all of the players want. In a perfect world, players who disagree with the stated description would discuss changing it or leave the group instead of enforcing restrictions that contradict the description, but yeah. Not everyone seems to think things through.

Point one: this thread is over a year old so OP probably was new when he posted it.

Point two: Some of these responses wow just wow when people say the dungeon community is toxic I generally dismiss them as entitled PHIWers, but some of these responses are pretty much the definition of toxic. There is no defense for kicking the group starter for being a lowbie in an “all welcome” run, that’s like saying pinging zerk and wearing nomads when the group asks for zerk is okay or stealing a legit dungeon sellers instance is okay, that’s troll behavior plain and simple.

You can purchase Berserker Exotic Set of every type for few gold and Badges of Honor.

Mind only that you cannot extract them for runes later – so don’t put expensive ones in there.

I have been trying to do exp mode on CoE for a few weeks now for legendary and I always get kicked for either not being experienced or not having zerker gear. Even when i post in LFG right before the group goes in they decide zerker only and boot anyone out without it. This is getting terrible and stuff like this makes me wonder how the devs think GW2 has a friendly atmosphere.

Get zerker gear. kicks 50% reduced. It’s not really expensive.

Every careless mistakes can quickly down you in AC, 80 or not.

  • Getting down by the spike trap? Check, once very two instances
  • Getting down by 25 stacks of bleed because I don’t want to interrupt my Meteor Shower/Ice Bow/Hundred Blades/whatever else cast on a burrow? Check, once every two instances
  • Getting down by standing too close to the Ghost Eaters and eating multiple Vapor Blades? Check, that happens without reflect
  • Getting down because I get focused by every single elite Ascalonian Ghosts while all my skills are on cool down? Check, that happens in every AC p2, I know.

If you still think sub 80 are garbages

I have solo’d all three paths with Ele in the past and it wasn’t that difficult to not get down and even less difficult to hit a mob to rally. Anyway OP’s failure must’ve been the only one in the group, since he said the others didn’t rez him (implicating they could). Thus they didn’t have your problems, only OP (perhaps).The word garbage might be a bit exaggerated, I just meant that his level 30 character is significantly worse than his level 80.

Defensive builds, even more worthless

So again, of course they are worthless. I hope Anet either allow us to save two seperate builds for the maps or have separate queues because it aint going to be fun joining on a bunker build in Stronghold.

If you want to run something tanky, use celestial ele.
-superior mobility
-superior survivability
-good damage
Is also good at stronghold.

Bunker guard is bad at any gamemode (sPvP) and any other bunker build is even worse. It’s always funny to see bunkers on the enemy team because they’re just useless, on your own team not so much though.

Where did I say anything about dungeon skill? Assuming from his AP count he has thrown a lot of hours into GW2 and has leveled a character up to 80. How is he a new player? He deliberately worsens the group experience, because even though he could switch to a level 80 char, he doesn’t. If he’s not experienced with dungeons, why doesn’t he switch to his Lvl 80 character, where he’s allowed to do more mistakes?

If someone kicks a player (even a lowbie) from a group with that description, they’re a bit of a kitty, yeah?

He also mentions joining a group on the LFG at level 30 — there’s only one dungeon he could possibly be running in that case, and if lowbies are getting kicked from ‘all welcome’ parties for freakin’ AC story, then I agree — there’s a tryhard/toxicity problem in this game.

That’s not news — I mean, there always have been a lot of tryhards, but this level of kittenery is just getting obnoxious.

I guess OP could have asked why they kicked him. He didn’t (seems like). If I was kicked I would be curious and ask why they kicked me. Instead he goes straight to the forum to complain about toxic behaviour. Sounds a bit fishy tbh.

You can go to any dungeon with any level. Maybe he was trying to join AC 35 Exploration mode? You don’t know because the post is missing a lot of aspects and is very one-sided. I don’t think you can say there’s a toxicity problem in the game judging on what OP wrote.

I always like to help the new players, especially in the lowered level dungeons.

Problem currently:
•Delusion of the zerker meta
•Auto kick because you aren’t level 80 in a (insert minimum level here) explore path
•Auto kick because you aren’t zerker
•This a really dumb reason, but it happens: Auto kick because you aren’t a certain AP threshold
•This is going to trend for a few weeks or more: No Revenant lfg groups

The sooner we squash that kitten group out, I think our inner community that actually “helps new and existing players” would be a lot better.

OP is not new. From what I read I think he must have at least 7000 AP.

Bringing back this old post to just re-iterate that this still occurs. I have started playing GW2 again and had 2 characters ready for dungeons. My experiences so far have been thus:

lvl 30 asura engineer (geared to lvl 30):

  • vote kick
  • vote kick
  • vote kick
  • found group that watched cut-scenes and worked as a team!

Note: I ONLY joined groups that advertised (all lvls, all welcome) kinds of groups NO Zerg 80s groups!

Then I figured that engineer was unpopular..so I switched to my guardian at lvl 35:

  • vote kick
  • died 3 times, nobody bothered to help
  • vote kick
  • never found a group after 10+ min of sitting around

So, I feel that due to the poor LFG tool that GW2 has..I will limit my dungeon crawling experience to a small time window and if I get in one…good if not..move on to PvE.

Also, I fee that the comments above about finding a guild that favors your playstyle is also the solution and I will be checking that out.

Its a shame that players cant share a dungeon run and resort to toxic game play habits.

I would kick you too. If you go to a dungeon with a low level character on purpose and you even mess up, your kick is well deserved.

It’s you who’s toxic expecting the others to carry you through and bring (barely) nothing in.

Ranger is too weak in PVP imo (aside from 1v1). When I see ranger in my team and the opposing team has none I know we will lose. 90% i’m right. It’s very unfortunate.

I think Ranger absolutely needs more survivability aside from the signet and I really hope the new ranger specialization adresses the lack of AoE Ranger currently has.

Here is something we all know, Top is always short of men, middle is the difficult one, and has most chance of failing…. Bottom…plagued by Afkers.

It is very annoying and sometimes very difficult to finish an event when there are only 4 active players and 20 afk’ers. And this is not exaggerated. Result… that many afking players upscale the event a lot and making it impossible to finish, and even fail the event.

Its very very frustrating when u have worked for an hour to get the defenses in the forts up, made a successful breach and then see it thrown away by afkers. And more frustrating to see those afking players suddenly come to life to claim their reward.

When they are asked why they are afk for so long, u get answers like:
“because its easy money doing nothing”
“because I’m lazy”
" leave me alone I’m chatting to my guild"
and most of the time, u don’t get a response at all.
etc etc…

So the question to Anet is:

Is it not possible that during VineWrath, and automated system kicks out afkers after like 5 minutes and puts the player in the login screen, and thus making room for active players? I never liked the whole idea of killing one mob and still get the full reward, but this one is really pushing it and is frustrating to alot of players.

I don’t see your problem. Vinewrath works fine these days.

AFKers and leavers – They ruin the game. Seldom they appear if they are losing, staying in the base or quitting the game during the match. There is a system that kicks the first or gives a handicap to the second, but I think that is not sufficient to discourage these people from leaving or going afk again.
The solution to this problem could be a way to report the afkers by the other team members, and let the player be kicked immediately. Then the system can ask to the 4 members still in the game if they want a replacement and the next player in queue can join the match. In this way if we are talking about a Ranked Arenas with a premade team, all the other members should know if the leaver is just having issues with a simple dc and decide to wait 2 minutes for his return, or if they have lost a man and they have to chose for a substitute.
To encourage people to join as substitutes they could automatically have, just for accepting to play a match probably lost, the same amount of Honor points of the first player in the winning team.
And what happen to the afkers and leavers? If they just leave one time, they receive no warnings, but if they leave more than one time, or if they were reported as afkers, they receive a dishonor score that let they join on a hide leaderboard, everytime they are reported or they leave the game they can’t join the queue for an Arena for 15 minutes, but they can enter the hotjoin server, where afkers and leavers are tolerated. The minutes of stop are cumulative for, I don’t know, a day (or even a week if it should depend on me), so they even won’t be able to join an Arena for several hours if they always be reported or if they leave more than one matche.

NO. Just introduce the ability to forfeit, leavers were no problem at all in GW1 because of that.

Also stop breaking your mind, game is currently broken. Too many bugs, balance issues etc. and Anet hasn’t done anything after a week, QA doesn’t exist anymore etc. There’s no way this topic is gonna get much attention.

There is no thief build like that. Evades were utterly destroyed on Thief and interrupts doesn’t mean anything. You’re using a lot of initiative, while doing no damage.

S/P is honestly kitten (imo), I mean how are you supposed to burst when Pistol Whip is such a bad skill, that 90% of times doesn’t hit properly? If you rely on utilities, you lose your last bit of “sustain”.

The only viable thief build right now is D/P I think (with lots of stealth).

Play Mesmer. Mesmer has Evades and his interrupts are even useful.

What can I do against cele Ele?

The damage is on par with mine (I do 5k backstab against one), his numerous CC hit very hard and you simply can’t dodge all of them. Before the patch I think this matchup was okay. Now I even have a hard time finishing him off (when I can’t get it done immediately), because he has more shock aura (giving him time to heal up), so many blind (which means steal often fails and imo it’s very hard to blind him, while it’s so easy for him to blind me). Kinda feels like this is another hard counter (similar to Guard & Engi). Do you think so too or am I wrong?

How were thieves buffed? How is burst possible? I mean with all that blind, invuln etc. Why do you think thief is not weak? How do you come to the assumption that most thieves can’t handle to learn to play? How do you think S/D or P/P work now? Why is it a learn to play issue?

Explain please. Seriously if you write something like that, you need to explain it instead of just claiming something.

i dont think thief is able to hurt a bulk monster very much in a sec. im sorry for your high ping. i agree that tanks might need a little buff

I genuinely don’t have a problem with thieves in general. They die pretty quick in the current burst-or-be-burst meta. I just think it’s a little weird that a class has access to this kind of damage with no cool down. Ten seconds would be fair. I’m not sure ArenaNet has noticed this kind of play.

You have revealed 4 seconds as mentioned before and you also need to get yourself stealthed as a Thief. Adds another 2 seconds, which adds up to 6 seconds … Why do you talk rubbish like that? Do you know how long it takes to land a backstab properly?

Every class can do the same damage in 6 seconds. Especially Mesmer (more without any need to come close) : – ). And they don’t need to worry about having to hit the enemy from the back, which you leave completely out of sight. “This kind of damage” is completely situational and it also requires the thief to be lucky and crit.
