About 7 1/2 seconds. A decent amount of time. Especially if you’re running several Survival traits. Such as lightning reflexes and QZ. MT also has a 20s traited CD so you can easily get perma fury if desired.

Poison Master will be worthless because poison, even in a full condition damage spec, only does 284 damage per second. So that trait adds 142 damage per second.
Out of 4543. So, a 3% increase in damage overall. Compared to that, 3 condition removal every 10 seconds is…
If they wanted to add more condition damage, they should instead make bleeds do 20% more damage, rather than making poison do 50% more damage.
Taking Poison Master for it’s additional damage output is meh, definitely not worthless though.
But on the other hand, taking Poison Master so you can reduce your opponents healing by 33% on a 90%+ up-time, is priceless.
But, rangers can already inflict perma poison. Especially condi builds which would probably take shortbow #2, sword #3, dagger #4. Then several pets can apply poison. Or our poison trap, which is getting a poison field.
It’s a bad trait.

I assume you mean for WvW and pve since you don’t “level” in spvp.
If you wan to stay in axe most of the time, I would look into getting Honed Axes in the skirmishing (second) line. Also, I would take a warhorn to blast fields and ally fury, might, and swiftness to peeps and yourself.
You’ll also probably want 30 into survival for either bark skin or emphatic bond. IMO they’re pretty even on their usefulness (very.) but it of course depends on the situation.
So you’ll end up with a x/20//30/x/x build with 20 pts to put wherever. Shove em in beast mastery if you really want a “pet” function to your build. If doing that, take bark skin cause condis can kill your pet quickly. And CC it.

Well, the armor looks good, (some of it…)
The uh… Umm… The 1v1 potential is good. But you should still lose to a good Mesmer/Theif/Warrior so it’s not like it’s super powered and those classes all have good or decent AoE damage, which the ranger does not have.
I’m liking the damage over time aspect less and less. The idea is good, but it doesn’t seem to fit into the game very well. Too many options to disengage by a lot of classes or sustain through your damage and heal back up.

1. Reduced signet cool down on all signets, except maybe signet of the hunt.
2. Combine sSignet traits to apply to player and reduce CD, or just have them affect the player and create a new grandmaster trait.
3. Remove reliance of your pet being alive (OR kittenING IN RANGE) for the Signet of Renewal active effect.
Misc. Traits
1. Shared Anguish reduced CD… 90secs?! C’mon man. Compare that to warriors last stand trait is terrible. On a 60(?) sec CD but it gives like 6 sec of stab. Ugh.
2. Bark Skin needs to not share a spot with emphatic bond.
3. Emphatic bond kills your pet, destroying Beastmaster builds.
4. Masters Bond sucks, clearing the stacks each time you swap pets, which is a class mechanic that you have to utilize to kill just ONE other decent player. So the most you will have is 5 stacks for like… The beginning of the fight.
5. Several others, but I got frustrated just typing this, realizing none of these things will change.

Most ranger run condi so RaO doesn’t really compliment a condition build unless they rely on crit. Lots of things are ineffective in spvp yet you have taken the time to post here. Probably isn’t as ineffective as you would have everyone believe.
He’s not trying to fool people if that’s what you think. Entangle really is a poor skill for an elite. Even if you’re a condi build, it’s not worth it. He’s right in saying tha competent players will cleanse or blink out of the roots. Or just dodge the attack altogether. The stability alone in RaO is better than entangle.

To give Rangers a place in WvW, give them something to either increase the sustain of the group. Like giving them a trait to make spirits invulnerable. Or create a water field. Or a low cool down blast finisher. Also active condition removal that doesn’t rely on a pet that too easily gets caught and killed.

Yeah, it’s clunky. But more importantly, it’s useless. You have to trait it on order to make it worthwhile, which is still debatable. It might have been acceptable before the great pet nerf of 2013, but what’s the point of giving pets protection and stealth if they don’t do damage?

Best case scenario: You like to solo everything and never play with people.
Worst case scenario: You love the class, play it constantly. You try to experience all parts of the game, but nobody wants you in their dungeons, always shun you from open world because “all rangers suck,” scorn you away from WvW raids because of your extreme lack of group synergy, and just look down on your kittened pet in general.
Exception: Spvp, but you don’t need to level anything to play it, so hop right on in.

I believe once you have 3 direct damage builds attacking the same target, then the vulnerability is better. But that also assumes you are at max range. If not at max range, rapid fire is typically better. But you should not be sitting in longbow at less than max range anyways.

Very nice research. I do like my snow leapords chill, plus it’s a leap which almost guarantees a hit. Couple that with the all of the cripple we have, and it’s some nice single target CC.

From my experiences pets are next to useless. The bear just stays nearby whenever I’m attacking cannons and won’t go past obstacles. Pet skills have horrible lag and downed pet won’t revive for the rest of the fight. Should it hit anything at any point I consider it a bonus. I just listed it there for the sake of being comprehensive.
This is a mistake. While I will be the first to say that pets suck and they need to be reworked/buffed. They are NOT useless. Equip a jungle spider for 2 immobilizes, equip a wolf for AoE Fear. If you can drop the endurance for damage buff, pick up malicious training for increased pet duration.
Only equip bears when running in a zerg (if they’ll even take rangers) and at that point, set it to passive and use it for the AoE 2 condition cleanse.

I hate when the mesmer greatsword clone spins by you, activating the knockback part of the attack. Aaaaaand then most of the whirl damage get applied to you.
I wish that the block lasted until the kick was performed. Or add in an evade.

Short Answer: Yes
Long Answer: Maybe. I only play my ranger in SPvP and Open World content, but I’m in WvW most of the time with my guardian. So it would have to look pretty cool. I would want a little steel helmet for my birds, a leather messenger pouch like armor for my canines, and a great big steel suit for my bears and drakes.
But I don’t think they’ll do it: Because it’s “unfair” to other professions.

Blah, us WvWers are “forced” into PvE for content all of the time. Want money? PvE. Want materials? PvE. Want content updates? PvE. Want to have some fun? WvW.
The percentage of WvW to PvE for a legendary is still incredibly PvE centered.

Well, people aren’t going to like it, but you’re going to need 30 into the top line for piercing arrows and spotter.
Then probably 20 into second line for bow cool down reduction.
Then probably 10 into nature magic for increased chance for spirits to proc. (for frost spirit)
And you could probably get away with 10 wherever you wanted. Might want to get reduced pet f2 for perma might with leapord and more often fury with moa.(Beastmaster trait) Or increased pet boon duration (Nature Magic I think)
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, it’s sub optimal and if you’ll probably get blamed for wipes, even more so if people notice you pew pewing from afar.
30/20/x/10/x Would be what you would start with.

I’ve tried to make this build work, even grabbed fury runes for permenant fury, it does not work. It also doesn’t work with clerics gear if you were hoping that would help.
However, at least with clerics you would be giving out great regen boons to your group,(I know you were looking for roaming, just saying) but you lack the stability boon necessary for this role. (Have to stay with frontline since regen/swiftness isn’t ground targeted)
If you would like a roaming, yet tanky build, go 30/x/30/x/x if looking for full damage 30/30/x/x/x. The latter will die to a butterfly, but it can kill other berserker toons. It doesn’t have the sustain to kill a condi OR tanky direct damage build(like guardian)

If they switched points to guild rather than server points and made it so that guild members went into the same overflows, they could make all of WvW into this system. Three maps (Eternal, Borderlands, EotM) each with overflows.
This sounds like a good idea. Nobody cares about winning these week long matches anyways.
And you can still have “server pride,” that one guild that wiped that Zerg, or took that point? Yeah, they’re from my server.

I feel like 30 into the top line is a must for spotter and maybe eagle eye, 20 would be prefered in the second line for that extra precision and reduced CD on bows. But you might have to sacrifice that how cool down for condition removal by going 30 into wilderness survival.
Traits are kinda crappy, you usually have to sacrifice something because of the almost mandatory 30 into wilderness survival for condi removal.

I think I’ve played the boss about 4 times, failed every time. My lane always succeeded, but most of the others would fail. Rather unfortunate, and off putting since I have no control over who I do the content with.

- Open Field fights, using the terrain to your advantage.
- 3 way battles, and SM battles (not to be confused with cramped keep battles)
- The freedom to run with the whole guild, instead of just 5 people (tpvp)
Three Hates
- The lack of rewards (especially unique rewards)
- The siege warfare, it just seems too much like a chore to take a wall or gate down, if it was more fun than just sitting on siege, maybe I could take it off my hates.
- The lack of WvW updates. (I believe edge of the mists was the wrong direction)

This only happens when you as a thief want to stay in the fight. A ranger who can win you in 1v1 can never chase/catch you if you decide to escape. The ranger who has the ability to chase/catch you will be melted in 3 seconds by your BS+HS.

This is pretty true, but I’m doubtful about that talk of rangers being able to chase people down. With no blinks, 1 reliable (yet short ranged) immobilize skill, and 0 ranged hard cc( unless you want to push them further away with the longbow)

Staff, or any weapon that would give group utilities would be great for the ranger.
Something that gives the following:
- CC field like Ele frost field or static field.
- water field – I would like something that clears conditions actively
- AoE cone attack that gives cripple
- Some sort of AoE heal skill, doesn’t have to be a water field. Maybe make it summon a bunch of sprites that heal your team and attack foes.

Not really, no. But you do you, anything will work in pve. Frost spirit is nice, but you don’t need it to move with you, so 10 pts in nature magics for the 70% chance is all you need. I guess stone spirit would be ok as well, but meh.
(You’ll want to place them out of the stack so they don’t get 1 shotted by AoE.)

Interesting, hadn’t really thought about it from that angle. Was thinking more about sPvP, where there are no racial elites, and more about the “tell” issue.
Do rangers have a lot of abilities with important “tells” where the size of the character would thus matter?
Greatsword Maul #2 is the most animated. HOWEVER a lot of ranger attacks already have ridiculous tell animations where a spirit animal shows up in the animation. It looks really cool, but it is a really obvious tell of what a ranger is about to do or has done.
Including:
Warhorn 5: big howling wolf
Sword 3: Green spirit snake
Greatsword 2: Huge spirit bear
Greatsword 3: Spirit Eagle
Other than that, longbow barrage is a pretty obvious animation, larger characters might make the Greatsword blocking more noticeable.

I’ve found playing underpowered builds is pretty fun sometimes. And my power ranger gets a lot of miles, even in tournies. But if I ever get frustrated, just switch to a face roll class like warrior and SHAZAM everything is dead, or can’t kill me.

Question do warriors even use other healing skills? It has been ages since i seen a warrior using a different heal. And its not like that warriors have only one allround heal skill (like necros).
I dont think hs is op but i think its a bad skill for the game (like many others) as it doesnt have a real counter play apart from poison. But poison is the bane of all healing skills, so…
This, other heals are not a consideration for warriors. Healing sig with adrenal health and easy access to regen give the warrior ridiculous heals per tick. Coupled with fantastic condi removal, there is no point in running other heals. That’s three stackable healing attributes, with BIG healing numbers.
No build needs more adrenaline gain from healing surge. And mending wounds has never been a good heal, while the new stance heal is only really viable in WvW Zerg play.

Due to jumping puzzles and vistas being on the ends of jumping puzzles ANet will never add flying mounts. Would trivialize too much content.
I think at the time one could afford a flying mount. They will either have all of the vistas, or they are never going to get them.

I’ll have to agree, honestly it’s probably not as bad as most people think. But it still sucks.
For power builds you have to kill them fast enough so conditions don’t stack up. The problem here, is that this game can place 7 conditions on you in a couple of seconds or less. So going against a condi bunker is impossible, and going against carrion or especially rapid geared players is extremely tough.
Healing spring won’t even cure all the conditions because of the ridiculous ability of some classes to spam condis.

Wasn’t that bug like a year ago and tier 1 gives shark tokens, tier 2 gives phoenix, and tier 3 gives dragon but at least tier 3 is slightly expensive. Nightmare armor might also give dragon which makes it not very expensive at all.
Nightmare armor is still like 20 gold.

While I would like to see more effective builds for thief, I feel like other classes need it more. I can think of 4 effective and very different builds for a thief. That is without editing little things here and there for personal preference.
But some other classes are pigeon holed into 1 or 2 builds.
