If you cannot stop a 80+ person zerg auto attacking doors something is clearly wrong on your end. (2 arrow carts.)
Is that a joke? Because if you put the carts out of range where people can’t aoe them so easily, that lessens the range of the operator on the cart (we know what happens if you put them in range). So if said 80 people fan out and just flash build catas, they can not only destroy the gate/wall and arrows carts, but avoid constant fire too. Edit: But even if they don’t build siege and just continue to auto attack, simply fanning out, strafing, and dodging will defuse any arrow cart damage in the secs it’ll take you to headbang gate open.
And who is afraid of arrow cart fire except for glass cannons when you’re in a group of apparently 80? There’s bound to be a support class or ten floating about.

(TC doesn’t auto attack doors with 80+ people ever. Maybe 35 but never 80. Oh and we tend to use siege.)
The point still stands. Two arrow carts don’t mean a thing to 35 players.
Actually HB on BG does this. Two ACs, 15 players, a choke point, and endless slaughter. The brats :p
Edit: actually maybe there were one or two ballis in there as well, come to think of it.

You should have plenty of badges, that’s the difference between new players and veterans who will have the new stuff on Day 1.
The difference between wv3 vets and newbs is newbs save their boh’s and vets spend them on you know siege weapons, armor, weapons.
I get my siege from kills and don’t wear pvt gear. Next.

You know what would be great? If you could sample the WvW activities of one server while staying on your own.
I mean, there would be obvious ways to exploit this, so it will never happen. But it would be nice to see what the server is like before you transfer. Like I know they SAY that they give credit to the PUGS, but then I hear otherwise. Kinda like how a lot of people say Maguuma is full of trolls, but really, even most of the alleged trolls are good people.

As a level 80 ranger, I completely disagree with the other two posters. Don’t even listen to that first poster citing statistics that were made up on the spot. Yes, berskers 100b warriors can take down npcs really fast, which is great for things like CoF. However, a berserkers 100b warrior can not solo a champion in pve, as i have done on many occasions on my ranger. PvE is not even my strong suit.
In spvp and wvw, I have never lost to a warrior in a 1v1. I used to run a glass cannon ranger, and took down glass cannon warriors well before they got an opportunity to strike me several times. Now as a more tanky ranger, killing warriors is laughably easy.
I agree with this guy. Rangers are 1v1 masters.
HOWEVER!!! It seems to me that this is a team based game. And the Ranger has kitten in the way of team based skills.

Is Maguuma trying to tank to steal Yaks spot in T4. Kind of sounds like it. That is low, we earned having good matches for a while by getting run over by the bandwagon freight train of both Kain and Mag, and then they get up to where supposedly they were aiming and then want back down when they can’t hack it.
Mag 2.0 is dead. Unfortunately, if we do drop down to t4, I have a sinking feeling that players will start to come out of the woodworks, catapulting us back into t3. Where they will promptly disappear again.

Dagger dagger is d/d. You would probably be better off with staff until later on. And then, mainly combo fields and healing your teammates. Don’t expect to kill much of anything.

I agree with your no. 2 & 4 statements. No. 5 is also obvious but since they are supposed to release a patch specifically for WvW firmly soon I’ll hold judgement till then.
However, no. 3 is clearly how they WANT WvW to be. All of their updates suggest so.
As for no. 1, you can quickly learn which commanders are good and which are bad. Most of the time by glancing at the guild tag. However, I do think there are better ways to earn the title.

The Guard/Search combo can be used to revive dead players (mesmers/thieves) inside of the enemy keeps if they are close enough to the wall. This will allow mesmers to portal people in, or for theives to go revive a mesmer deeper inside the castle.
The Guard fuction can also be used to destroy siege inside of a keep that is hard to hit by other means. It also works well in clearing out siege outside your walls when there is a massive (albeit stupid) zerg, building catapults/ballistas.
Personally I don’t think it’s OP, since it’s pretty kitten easy to kill a pet. People just don’t see them as a threat most of the time.

I find leveling in WvW to be fairly slow and unrewarding. You won’t get as much gold compared to pve, it’s harder to kill people than npcs especially since most will be level 80 in exotics, and there aren’t enough skill points to buy multiple different skills. There are probably more issues, but there are some.
That being said, I’m leveling my guardian via WvW. Because I find all other facets of this game boring. But once I get frustrated with him, I’ll switch to my 80 ranger or Mesmer.

Ya know… I’ve come to accept and work around the sword root. My problem is actually the #2 skill. In order for it to be affective in combat, the person has to be running towards you after you jump back the first time. Otherwise, if they move slightly farther away from you, your leap forward will not go far enough to hit them.
So in the end, all it’s good for, is a clumsy and harder than necessary escape maneuver.

Shouts are actually well thought out. IF people actually focused on pets and viewed them as an actual threat. But, since they do not (for good reason most of the time) see them as a threat, shouts are lackluster in most situations.
But I bet they are working as Anet intended, so they will not change them. Personally, I only ever use shouts in WvW siege situations.
Example. Enemy is building siege out in the field? Send your pet over the wall with Guard, granting 10 secs of invisibility. Most of the time they will reach the siege before they become visible again. A LOT of the time, people will simple ignore it and continue to fire the siege…. i don’t know why… Combine with Sick’em for some additional damage. If pet starts to get focused, activate that signet that gives them invulnerability. Rinse and Repeat.
But I usually never use the other shouts since i’m a Beastmaster Build and I can revive people quicker that Search and Rescue, and since my pet is most of my damage, it would be unwise to use Protect Me and kill said pet.

I don’t have an engineer, but I do like my ranger. Works ok in the Zerg, but really shines as a roamer and 1v1 class. You never feel alone with that pet at your side.
That being said, Rangers do have some problems with oddly delayed pet skills/ pet pathing/pet survivability in the Zerg vs Zerg. And some traits that don’t make sense.

I don’t know why there isn’t a reveal stealth ability somewhere. But yeah, I don’t have much trouble with thieves on my Ranger. But that’s because she is a bunker beast master, so if I was on something that didn’t have much defense I can see how thieves would be OP.
I was on my up leveled staff ele the other day and was downed/stomped in under 5 seconds. So that wasn’t fun.
On another note. Not everybody can be Pro at the game/has the time to learn/level every class. Just some food for thought.

Does Mag roam with anything other than FOTM D/D eles?
Thieves and D/D eles are much better at escaping from zergs than other classes, so of course there will be more of them roaming.

Why does this reset after death/switch. It does not sync well with the minor trait of switching pets to gain quickness or the reduced time of switching pets. wtf?
And it’s almost useless in WvW, where you need to switch out pets frequently for them to be of any use at all. You would be lucky to have 8 stacks of Bond before it needs to be switched.
A fix you say? Either:
A. Only have it reset on death, so switching doesn’t effect it.
B. Make it so it doesn’t reset on death but does on switch. So if you’re inside of a keep you can just call it back to you and break combat, waiting for it to revive itself.

I agree. But I also realize that rewards in this game are crap, unless you want to mindlessly farm dungeons. It was my belief that they wanted to get rid of farming. Or did they change that motto at some point?
Also, aren’t bags suppose to turn into chests if they have something valuable in them? I’ve picked up a few badges inside bags, I believe they are chest worthy, given the rarity of them.

Kaineng isnt ready, Maguuma was alot more organized along with the #s. Kaineng is below them, so if Maguuma loses their t3 matchup, id be shocked if kaineng could pull it off.
It’s difficult to tell what our numbers actually are at the moment. Reset night, we had a guy sitting in queue for 7 hours trying to get into Maugham borderlands. But the next two days, we would only have a queue for 1 map, if that.
I wasn’t on all the time, so I obviously don’t know if it was like that all the time. But it seemed like it.
And from what I’ve heard kanieng has enough to queue most maps. But maybe I’ve been lied to.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before or not, but has there been any talks about changing the loot system in WvW? Too many times have I died with several loot bags around me. It’s frustrating not getting those things opened, what if there was an exotic item in there!?!?

Not really sure if this belongs here, but since there isn’t a general class message board I didn’t know where else to put it.
Anywho, I was contemplating skills that no matter what type of class I’m playing, I always have one skill that accomplishes the same thing. Ranger it’s lighting reflexes, ele it is most form, Mesmer it is blink. I’m not saying EVERYBODY uses these, but it’s something I can’t live without.
Main Point:
Which made me think of useless skills, like mesmer mantras, some ranger shouts and signets, …can’t think of any truly useless ele skills. Anywho, are there any plans to change up these skills to make them more attractive, or are they just there for fluff when people get bored?
Please tell me if you agree with my assessment of “useless” skills, and add some more of your own if you feel so inclined.

Agreed. I have a couple thousand kills in WvW, and I only have around 350 badges. The poor drop rate conbined with poor system of needing to loot the bags probably contribute to this. IMO it’s a terrible system and drop rate combined that make it so bad.
There’s been several times where I have several bags around my corpse. Or I had to leave badges behind since I play a very mobile/evading build.

Tanky pets are difficult/impossible because they can still get 1 shotted by bosses. And spirit build would be good IF there wasn’t a 5 player limit to the proc. which to my knowledge is still there.
I just keep my WvW 0/0/30/10/30 build when I go into dungeons tho. Switch troll for healing spring and put a fire trap in there for combo fields. I dunno, I usually run dungeons on my ele nowadays, they have great support abilities.

You know what I think would be cool? If we were able to use 4 different weapons instead of the two.
What’s this nonsense you speak of!?!? Two would be too many my ignorant fellow!
But wait!!! You could only equip 1 weapon per attunenment. Kinda like our conjured weapons. So you could have a dagger for fire, a staff for water, a scepter for air, and a longbow for earth.
This would of course mean tons of work developing skills for the weapons and balancing them, so I never expect to see this, ever. But it popped into my head, so I thought I would share.
