Yeah, shortbow was kinda of my favorite weapon. I’ll still try to use it and see if it works. (Which I’m sure it’ll be fine in spvp and pve, it’s just going to hurt a lot in WvW)
Also, now that crossfire has been damage nerfed, can we apply conditions no matter where we hit them from? I don’t think that’s so unreasonable with the coming changes.

IMO mesmers have too many utilities. Just on your f4 bar we have a stun, an invulnerable, a way to make an enemy either stop attacking or use a condition cleanse, and a skill that does a buttload of damage. Other classes might have access to these things, but they are so easy to use on the Mesmer, And if traited, have a very small cool down.

Immobilize is annoying. You have to cleanse it or use an evade skill until its gone.
If you’re stuck in binding roots, and you have more -condition duration than they have +condition duration, you can move/dodge out of the roots after the immobilize goes away. You must be quick about it though, and get out before the next pulse.

The greatsword’s Maul would make sense, though I imagine they would also increase the CD on it.
I dunno, guardians get a 4 or 5 second blast finisher depending on traits. And it does lots of damage.

As long as hgh engis stay at ranged, they aren’t OP. but once they close with you (or you them) it is game over. They can stack a lot of conditions on you and the grenades don’t tickle either. Oh and they can throw them all at their feet in 2 seconds.
It would be fine if it was single target stuff, but it’s a fairly large AoE.
Also, does anybody’s fps drop to the floor when they unload their grenades at the same time?

Wolf for fear, super useful for when you need to:
A. Buy some time while bunkering a point in spvp. And fearing them off the point to cap it.
B. When downed, this will give you another interrupt and buy your team time to Rez you.
C. Great for fearing enemies off a downed enemy for a Rez, or to buy them time perform a heal/action. (For quick Rez, start rezzing, switch to wolf and gain quickness and fear people away.
D. It also has a knockdown on its first attack, and a cripple on another. (Knockdown can potentially give you yet another interrupt to negate a stomp.
E. Decent damage

Perhaps it’s my inner troll, but I like the cannon. (Not a fan of water tho, so still not a fan of the map.)
I typically just use the cannon the whole game. If they can’t send people to kill me/make me run away, that’s kinda their fault. Also, it is a nice way to persuade people not to Zerg.

Currently, the only spirit worth taking is the elite spirit of nature renewal. And even that is iffy when taking into consideration binding roots in a condi build. Or rage as one in a beast build.
Only way spirit builds are remotely useful is in a 5v5 encounter, which almost never happens in spvp, and usually it’s way more than that in WvW, where the spirits get destroyed in the blink of an eye.
They might be useful in pve, but I assume getting one shotted by bosses is probably an issue, so similar to the WvW issue.

That is the list of what gear you get through which set of rankings. sadly the good looking stuff is much higher on the rankings.

Well… It’s like… all of the armor available on pve. So the “that’s it” statement is mildly confusing.
I kinda wish there was pvp specific armor. Especially some that you can wear in WvW. THAT would be a nice visual cue of someone that you should be wary okittend of like tiger finishers.

Personally, I enjoy more vitality than 13-15k in my bunker guard.
It’s impossible to give you specific advice without knowing your traits/weapons/utilities. You said shouts, so I’ll assume hold the line and stand your ground.
Use hold the line early so you’ll get it off CD before the fight is over.(so you can use it again.) Make sure to dodge any boon steals and corruptions. Save SYG for any roots they might have on you, or for the stomp.
For the third utility: sanctuary isn’t bad, even if you aren’t trained for it, make sure you have a ranged attack tho, or youll just have to sit in it. Save yourselves is good for another stun breaker. But beware of warrior boon hate on SY. Signet isn’t bad either for some more direct damage reduction.

Oh wow, I didn’t know it was nerfed. Shouts seem so lackluster, I wish they would rework them.
Have guard act like a shadow refuge, maybe losing stealth when you exit the area, but it heals for a lot while you’re in it.
S&R being an instant revive, but somehow reducing pet effectiveness (or maybe killing the pet)

Protect me is probably fine as well, but I’m not a big fan, I’d rather it give out Boons or quickness, or summon a spirit pet double of whatever pet you have active.

So this popped into my head and I felt like sharing.
This is mainly a pvp oriented post.
Search and rescue seems rather lackluster when compared to other classes revive skills. (Mesmer/guardian/necro) these skills will pop you right back up while the ranger takes quite a bit of time and is a lose of DPS during the Rez. Some classes even come with a passive effect with their ability (guardians/necros?)
However, search and rescue does have a shorter CD than the others.
Does this make up for the rest of the things it lacks? Personally I haven’t run it in ages so if anybody does use it, is it very useful? If so, when?

It’s fantastic, the block and the interrupt is priceless. Swoop is also great for mobility if you don’t have a speed buff, or a combat escape.

Yes, they are much less effective of hitting players in pvp. Especially classes like mesmers, or the highly mobile thief and ele.

ANet made a post some where in the ranger forums that they will never allow rangers to directly control the other pet skills because they feel that would make rangers require to much APM.
More like “it will be way too hard for us to change all those things.”
I say that, because I don’t see the difference between that and say, all of the mesmers alt skills.

That being said, I play a BM bunker build that is super effective. The problem, is that the AI just isn’t good enough for my liking. Feels clunky.

I understand how annoying it could be to face a setup like that. But I don’t see how it’s any more difficult than facing two mesmers with different names. There are clues to seeing the real mesmer, clues that you would have to use regardless.
Played a game earlier with 4 mesmers and a guardian…. Suuuuuuuper annoying, but we still won.

I can understand the reluctance to use some signets in pve. However if you’re a beast master spec, the signet of wild or hunt damage boost is probably still useful.

Haha yeah. I recently got a thief to 80 and put some exotics on him. Yesterday I did a 5000k backstab and literally stopped playing (in a large fight) to process what had just happened.
Then somebody targeted me, and I died.

I don’t think the appearance disappointment is becuase of the race you chose, but rather that heavy armor is kinda lackluster in general.
That being said, I have a human female. And when wearing draconic chest/leggings/boots with guild shoulders and whatever gloves/helmet that you like. Wielding golden or seraph weapons, looks pretty good.
Asura and Norn cultural tier 3 heavy are nice tho.

Yes, the actives have their uses. Perhaps not so much signet of the hunt, because I feel the loss of 25% movement is too bad compared to a one time increased damage attack.
But signet of the wild is GREAT in tpvp against bomb kit engis.
Stone is ok, depending on how you’re specd.
Renewal is ok, but I only activate it against necros, or when I know I’ll die from conditions unless they’re cleared.

I frequently see people boasting about wiping Maguuma in Eternal, which is fine, because nobody really goes into eternal for organized guild raids. Most of the people in eternal are goofing around or karma training (at least on mag.)
But IF you want to anger Maguuma/ actually boast about wiping Maguuma, you’ll have to do it in a borderland. Otherwise it’s easy for us to shrug off the fact that you were in EB, where we have very little coordination.

There is also a bug where you can’t move at all for some reason unless you use a leap/tele. Yes I checked and I wasn’t immobilize

A hammer/staff altruistic build most likely. With a lot of boon duration for that protection, or longer symbol duration for the hammer chains symbol. The latter is not good for pvp tho, since you want to be as mobile as possible in pvp.

I feel like the thief class is fine balance wise.
That being said, it’s not very fun to fight a thief. At best it’s tedious. I dunno, it just isn’t a gameplay design that I like to fight against, or play as.

It depends on what you’re doing. If you’re doing large group battles, drakes are great for their AoE.
If solo, I always run with a jaguar and wolf. But double wolf, or wolf bird works well as well.

If the target is standing still, we can do phenomenal damage… So really I just wish pets could use at least some of their attacks while moving. Like their basic attacks.

60 seconds on a ranger is like an eternity… considering you usually drop in about 10 seconds lol
Its actually 45 seconds, 36 if you have the 20% cooldown trait.
Speaking of other improvements to the skill though, I’d love for it to break immobilize and perhaps stun any enemy it damages for 2 seconds. Heck, I’d probably take a stun effect over the unimpressive damage it has.

This, a 1000 times. And have it disregard mobility status. It’s worthless to have an evade dodge that takes cripple and chill into account. When you’re immoblized, you often are already crippled, using LR in those cases only pushes you back 2 pixels which makes it worthless.Anet, you guys said you want to boost survivability on LB? This is how you do it. Take away the damage or even vigor if you want. Make it break all mobility status and launch the ranger back.
I agree that they can add a knock back/down. And take away the damage. But you stay the hell away from my vigor.

I don’t really get why arrow carts are damaging siege in the first place.
Rams/Catas/Trebs: Arrows would just stick into the wood, not really doing anything to hinder the health of the ram, maaaaybeaking it a little harder to use, but not destroying the thing.
Golems/Guild siege: Are made out of what looks to be really thick metal…. How are arrows not just bouncing off the plating?
