that sounds reasonable.
Have you considered combining quickfire and permeathing wrath?
Imo permeathing wrath is a must in an effective burn build and having both of them would make it even more powerful.
I did actually think about permeathing wrath. However if i look at the the traits in virtues. There is nothing much that would compliment the condition type of build other then that trait for the guardian. I personally think you will get more value from using zeal and radiance as those two have more synergy with the condi aspect of the class.
And by not traiting lore master i assume you plan on not using active ToJ in situation where you wont get a certain kill for refresh of VoJ?
You can actually. The minor master trait in Radiance called: Renewed Justice refreshes your F1 skill everytime you kill a foe. It has no cooldown as far as i know.
If you trait quick fire and permeathing wrath your rotation with torch might look slightly different as well. My impression (havent got the numbers so its pure observation) is that torch 5 is actually an increase in dps if using permeathing wrath/burn build. I believe its the same with sword 3, the number of hits trigger PW and adds dps even though the base skill dont add dps.
I am speculating here and cant back this up by numbers but intuitively i think leaving out permeathing wrath for a dps burn/build isnt optimal.
But i might be totally wrong here.
Quite possible. I also didnt get to properly test it yet. So my build craft is also theoretical. . As Anet did not allow us to try the specs in the testing facility. Was nice and fun to get our hands on it in pvp and wvw. Bu there way to many people there to do some proper testing. So that will have to wait. Going for a different setup might indeed be better in the end. The setup i presented is just my personal idea. Far from perfect. Any feedback is welcome <3
Dont know if its awesome but it is interesting.
Why not permeathing wrath? It should improve burn stack building at single targets as well.
You build for burning and say you you dont focus on bleeding and still you traited bleeding. Why not quickness all the way so you get quickness when entering a Tome of Justice.
I think that would increase your damage even more.
The reason i focus on aegis/stability and quickness is not so much survivability as it is the dps gain i get from more stacks of burning.
Duo the grandmaster trait Quickfire. This trait triggers burning when you apply quickness, but it has a 10sec cooldown. So from my understanding, as a firebrand you want to trigger this trait as often as possible. Meaning you want to apply a lot of quickness, stability and aegis. But not necessarily 100% upkeep it.
Really? As far as i can see guardian is a dps class. Take qT’s builds for example in pve. Meditrapper in wvw & pvp. And with the upcomming pof spec: Firebrand, guardian will shine light on the condition type of playstyle too. To me the class is a damage dealing spec with support capabilities.
Well.. since editor does not support pof specs yet.. i’ll write it down:
My point of view will be focused on condi pve style of playing. And with that i have chosen some different setup than what people might expect.
Traits:
- Zeal 2 3 3, damage increase, symbols have 33% chance to trigger burning.
- Radiance 2 2 1, increase critical strike chance. burning does more damage. trigger radiant flame skill (torch 4)
- Firebrand 1 2 2, extra condition from axe, tomes and applying quickness.
Weapons: axe/torch – scepter/shield
a/t is what makes sense, and what will be used mostly. however, i chose scepter/shield in addition that will interact with the traits and tomes. more on that in the rotation part ->
Skills:
- heal: Mantra of Solace, triggers aegis on use and charges = more burning
- utility 1: Mantra of Flame, as it says does burning damage
- utility 2: Purging Flame, heavy aoe burning, cures 3 condition. incomming condi reduced by 33%.
- utility 3: Signet of Wrath, to further increase condi damage and has some immobilize if needed.
- elite Feel my Wrath, to provide some fury and quickness, which again triggers burning
Gear:
- armor: Sinister stats + Balthazar runes (yes really)
- weapons: Sinister stats + Smoldering and geomancy sigils
- trinkets: Viper amulet, rest is Sinister
Food: Rare Veggie Pizza + Furious Tuning Crystal
At this point you have 100% burning duration and about 2k condi damage. This is why i did not go with the usual viper stuff. Yes my bleeding damage is super low. but firebrand has 2 skills only that does bleeding so i did not think its worth pushing that. Instead i focused on maximizing burn duration and condi damage from that point. Compared to the normal viper stuff, i have 200 more condi damage, 100% burn duration, 100 less power damage. 100% crit chance at all times in a raiding scenario (consider spotter, disp. banner and fury). Thats a win imo.
Rotation:
I have not worked this out entirely yet. But it basically comes down to spamming most skills off cooldown. As such purging flames, 1 or 2 charges of your mantra’s and Feel my wrath.
weapons skills wise: you want to start with scepter/shield. Begin with shield 4, scepter 2, (3 for immobilize if needed). F1 tome, use f1 tome skill 2 5x, back to scepter/shield. use shield 4 again, followed by scepter 2. (again 3 for immobilize if cc is needed). Now you swap to a/t. use torch 4 (careful for trait, it triggers it also. you want to use zealots flame. not the channeled zealots fire). axe 3, 2, torch 5. from here you kinda keep spamming your a/t skills till your tome f1 tome comes back up again. and then you repeat the process.
Awsome right? :P

It’s always worth making new characters. LOTS of them. All asuras! FILL THE WORLD WITH ASURAS.
huh.. on the flip side, i am getting tired of having all asura. Saving tomes atm. I’ll delete and re-role most of them soon xd
Disable the effect means it becomes an ascended trinket. The aura makes it legendary. The aura should change per class that wears it, as now its clearly a mesmer only trinket
Not quite. Although MOST people make the legendaries for the skin and “aura”, the legendary rarity also comes with a functional stat swap. This is why i personally like to go for legendaries. Cause it is character progression and very functional for some classes like mesmer. For armor and weapons this was easily solved by just re-skinning it. But as you’re probably aware we cant do that with trinkets. …Yes, i/we could have multiple trinkets with the needed stats. But it would be much nicer to have an option where we can toggle on and off the aura.
ontopic: this has been mentioned several times already. and we never really got an response from Anet for it. So don’t get your hopes up.
There wont be “legendary” mounts. Just like gliding, mounts are a tool to get you from point A to point B. They do not provide (selectable) stats increase. So legendary is not it. Epic gemstore skins however will most likely come, since that is a golden opportunity for Anet to make some money from it.
Am I dreaming / making things up, or have we had it confirmed that there would be no new dungeons for PoF?
I thought this was a confirmed thing – but can now not find a reference to back myself up; so it’s possible I’m getting my wires crossed with a more generalised statement about dungeons for the base game / HoT.
There will indeed be no longer dungeons. Those are a thing in the past. Current dungeons are still there for those who like to play them. Or early endgame content for new players. But there wont be future updates and such in regards to dungeons. Fractals are the current endgame content if not raids for those who like the challenge
So i have been riddling my head about this for past few days. And i don’ really understand what makes this different then the mantra of the mesmer (and soon firebrand). I feel like mantra has lost its “uniqueness”. Can someone light me up?
you can always go for auric skins as an alternative ..hides*
Yes, much like you could get 250 core tyria hp’s to unlock HoT spec. Hp’s are just hp’s. It doesn’t matter where its from. They all contribute to your total points which can be spend for your specializations. For the exception of WvW, those don’t count if i recall correctly (not sure on that one).
The only problem i see in dueling is the queue we hold for people that actually like to play wvw as intended. Don’t get me wrong, everyone should play the game as he or she likes. But it does have “consequences”.
I for one like to roam solo and duel other players in a 1v1 alot too… But likewise i also have moments where i just want to mindlessly zerg around with the group. And this quickly becomes a problem. Especially in high(er) populated servers. Think about guild raiding and such. Yes, we all do contribute to this, regardless of our intentions in wvw. But unlike guilds or people that want to zerg, duelists can move to OS to have fun since there is no objectives there.
Personally i always enter OS first to see if there are players there that like to duel. If so, i stay there and fun with my 1v1’s. However from my experience, i can tell that it is left deserted. This is why i roam or duel in borderlands. If there would be way to motivate players into OS, then i would strongly support it. I think that would be healthy for everyone.
When i buy an product online. I always make sure the website/webshop is providing a couple information. One of these are chamber of commerce number, address, phone number, and paypal payment method. I also check if they are correct. So i can always reach out to them if something isn’t right. Site’s and shops providing these information are often willingly to retour the product if it doesn’t make up to your likings.
Also Anet is selling you the cd-key only themselves. So retailers cant buy and offer it to your for cheaper. So in that regard. It would be safer to buy it straight from them instead.
As for your mis purchase. Maybe you can contact them, explain the situation. And get a refund. Since they didnt provide you with the code yet anyway.
As much i would like to. That more or less would feel like a rip-off, Instead i just have added to my favorites, so i have always access to it. Also shared among my guilds in discord. That’d be more respectful towards the uploader/creator imo. You in this case.
Officially they dont have names… yet.
So yeah I named them based on when I heard the soundtrack when playing the game. =)
And I photoshopped the image on the video to give it a nice touch.
I see. Will do for now. Thanks again! much appreciated
Oh right.. I somehow managed to completely misread that. My bad. just ignore ;p
Neat! thanks man. Are these somewhat “official” or just named accordingly to your idea’s? Just curious.
Aetherblade armor skins cough. Also known as the yoga pants among “human female meta” :p
Could you please release that? The music/tracks sound absolutely amazing. A great job once again <3
True assassin
Everyone has a different perspective of what an actual assassin is. One can say that they are using venoms with sneaky stealth attacks. While sniping from long range also counts legally as assassination. There is no right or wrong in that.
So that just leaves test golems I guess, which I imagine being a nightmare to see anything as every pve player who doesn’t do PvP/WvW will be there. Plus you won’t learn how the specs play in actual combat against mobs etc
I disagree. The test golem servers its purpose. It’s there so you can simulate certain scenario’s in terms of endgame content. Like enhance your rotation to push out that minor extra damage. or compare certain build etc etc. If that does not help you, then you can always hit the fractal. There is a similar test function there where you can set the golem in “engage” mode. That should help you out
Probably cause the warrior has used his Signet of Might first. Which makes his next attack unblockable. It’s a common combo. Tho i’m not sure it that would/should deny your healing wall as i don’t play gunflame build myself.
I’m still laughing at the second Sohothin Anet made. It used to be exclusively for GW1 players that made a certain Hall of Monument points. And now another model has been datamined that looks more flashy. And presumably it will be a gemstore skin. Like a big “screw you” to the first game players. Dulfy has posted on her site along with other new skins. There is also a chat code for it: [&Ci0dAAA=]
I’ve been wanting a condi guardian for a long time and also for my Revenant to get a second condi weapon to swap too even better a ranged one.. and despite all the crap Spellbreaker is getting I see a lot of potential in it and frankly I like the idea of a heavy armor rouge like class so i’m going to use it for sure
Kinda odd. So far as i have understood it. Spellbreaker rolls in a more supportive type of play, and shines in countering foes. Looks more like a powertype to me. As for Firebrand and Renegade. Those are diving into condition spec. So hopefully that will work out nicely. Axe/torch – x on Firebrand, and mace/axe – shortbow on Renegade looks pretty promising to me.
Firebrand and weaver! My main class is a guardian and I adore her so much. And I LOVE books. Seeing the offensive and defensive tomes got me really hyped. But I am not sure if firebrand is better than dragonhunter(I like my longbow, thank you very much!). :P
Ikr! Firebrand seems to give us more control in our condition output. So i’m guessing it will be a good condition dps spec. I enjoyed the bow on DH too, but if firebrand will be good, then i can easily make that swap.
They could then add Nika as a legend for revs which could be made too counter thieves, have it be the yin to the yang.
Nika was an assassin. So is Shiro. So that basically already fills that roll.
I’ve always played a thief, so deadeye but I’m not crazy about it to be honest. the stuff I really like about the thief isn’t part of the deadeye. I like being stealthy, agile, a trickster, deadeye is pretty the contrary to these. a sniper stands still, hundreds of meters away from its victim for the lucky shot.
I main a thief/daredevil, too. And your reasons are pretty much why I have zero interest in the Deadeye. I hope they make a true Assassin Elite Spec in the future.
Feel ya. I always enjoyed thief for being this acrobatic melee range deadly assassin. Heck it was my first class even. And i still enjoy it alot. Its just that i enjoy mesmer.. or chrono to be more specifc more. Idk, deadeye really feels like its going against the policy of what the thief ever stood for, for me.
But no worries. with mirage coming up ill probably enjoy the assassin type of playstyle again. with ambush and 0,5sec cd on elite shadowstep. Its going to be awsome
A better question would be: Why is it 2000 gems?
I mean i understand that people should rather explore the world. Learn the mechanics. Get to know stuff. Especially as a new player. But it is kinda off the chart considering additional character slot only costs 800gems. I think the level80 booster should have been in a similar price range. To put it in a better perspective… I could buy 2400 gems.. which is 30 euros.. which is basically the price of the standard edition PoF expansion. And then we have this stand-alone booster for nearly the same price….. How does that make sense?
With the beta right around the corner, I was curious about the idea’s of the community about the upcoming specs. I’ve created a poll for this. and i’d like to know your opinion: http://www.strawpoll.me/13669702
As for myself, its by far the Mirage. I already have some idea i’d like to try out. And the new dodge mechanic looks interesting to play with. Also a bit dangerous in certain situations, but i think its manageable. I have liked mesmer from the moment i tried it. Started with an gs/staff, dueling shatter build. Was an unique way of playing, really enjoyed it. Then Chrono came along. That really became my thing. The supportive play style and complex combo’s i could do with it is literately mind blowing. To the point where other classes started to feel straight up boring to me.
But of course a new era is upon us. And with that awaits us new specs. As i said im looking forward to mirage most. and what i can do with it. followed by scourge. From my understanding necro will become quite supportive with the new spec and that draws my attention as well. followed by the other specs:
1 – Mirage
2 – Scourge
3 – Firebrand
4 – Spellbreaker
5 – Weaver
6 – Renegade
7 – Soulbeast
8 – holosmith
9 – Deadeye
Which spec do you look forward to most, and why? Which other specs would like to try next?
Does anyone know already whether this provides a boost or a loss (overall) to condi phantasms in raids? I mean with Viper we crit plenty, too.
Condi is probably still better for bosses like Matthias duo to confusion and torment. Confusion deals extra damage when foe is engaging (attacking). Torment deals additional damage when foe moves. Which he also does a lot. Mesmer can output a ton of both conditions. So i think the condi build would still be superior there. As for other bosses. Power would probably be better. But then again. Other classes still can deal more damage. and your roll would be to tank and upkeep boons.
Admit it. It’s true!
that is similar to sword/shield. start with tides of time, followed by illusionairy leap. swap. and finish with blurred frenzy and mindwreck
Mirage seems condi based. Here is the new meta:
Traits: Dualing, Illusion, Mirage
Weapons: Axe/Pistol & Scepter/Torch
Gear: Viper
Im calling it!
Looking at how the pvp one does. I’d say they can basically do the same. With the additional option of making & saving our own templates. Anyways lets talk about how the pvp one functions. And then compare it to how it in pve or wvw could work. Wall of text inbound :P
For starters. In pvp this is located underneath your build panel as “default builds”. This is basically your templates. And you can hot swap between certain builds on the fly. For the exception of when you’re in a match and/or combat. If you don’t have the needed equipment, you will get a basic rarity of that type of weapon. But if you do have it, it will swap that equipment from your inventory into the weapon slot. (Note that if you do not own hot, you may have empty slots in traits as well as weapons. Most builds feature the latest specializations)
Translating this into pve/wvw, they can add a checkbox underneath the hero panel at equipment or traits panel (i’m pretty sure they can implement it in a better and nicer way, but even this would work). It should function as how the pvp one works in terms of equipment and trait swapping. However this could become more or less problematic of course duo to a much larger gear variety. Well i have a solution for that as well. This is where our custom make & save option comes in.
It would require a couple more functions in the assigned panel: create, assign equipment, save and delete. As the functions already speak for themselves, this way you can create your own template, assign certain equipments to it. So that you can instantly swap between them, when you swap. Save that template for future use. And finally delete. If you do not need it (anymore). This way you only would need the equipment in your inventory, and for the rest you hot swap then entire thing on the fly. Perhaps Anet could make it in such a way where you can keep gear in bank. Like how certain currencies work for merchants. But that may be a bit too much for the start.
So yeah, there you have it. The basic is already there. Anet would just need to implement it to pve/wvw and adjust it further on. Not saying that it is easy, but just pointing out how they could do it
I like the idea. How ever as suggested, the staff would fit the scythe better. A melee staff at that. Like how daredevil and revenant use it. I was expecting that the second generation of the legendary staff would be something melee based. Since we just have 2 skins for that. But Anet decided to go for Nevermore unfortunately. So with that being said.. dont get your hopes up
Edit: The chances of Anet adding such a thing as a gemstore skin, are bigger. So i kinda hope they will do that at least
(edited by GWMO.4785)
You just want to be a tentacley thing, don’t you?
“I’ve seen enough hentai to know where that is going”
Hah! nice ones, ill have a go as well:
Warrior: Face roll
Guardian: Wannabe
Revenant: What’s that?
Thief: Squishy
Engineer: Rip-off
Ranger: Bearbow
Elementalist: Finger gymnastic
Necromancer: Zombie apocalypse
Mesmer: Unique, #1
i… actually think that this is a great idea. And even heard other people talking about such a think in similar ways. Here is why (prepare for a wall of text :P):
Lets forget the moment that most wvw players also spend time in pvp and/or pve as well. So we just focus on the wvw aspect. With the improved reward system it makes it easier for players to get their hands on ascended gearing, Tho, it still lacks a structure of obtaining certain criteria (pve has just much easier access to it). Sure you can farm your way out to get ascended gear. But then you need to be versatile. And your gear/build may not work at that given time. For example one week you’re up against a server/group/players that are heavily condition based, while other time you might be up against players that play in a different style and use other tactics. So you want to adjust your build. or change your stats on the fly.
So your solution would be to get legendary gear then right? Theoretically, yes. But then you’re forcing players to do a game mode they may not like. Think about armor which you need to do raids for. Weapons is mostly pve stuff. And now trinket(s) which seems to be basically revisiting all the lws3 stuff. So with other words you need to do a different game to obtain legendary gear so you can be more effective in wvw …how does that make sense?
Another solution would be to add legendary gear to wvw. So they can obtain it by just (/mostly) playing wvw. But i think giving wvw the same gear/build structure as pvp would be much easier. Cause the system is basically already there. They just would have to implement it to wvw
I actually think the new fractal is awesome. Other then it might be overdone in terms of gloom/effects. Or however it is called. Give it some time. It is recently released. People yet have to go through that learning curve. You’ll see that it will become much easier after a couple weeks once people are used to it. Same happened to nightmare fractal, chaos, gerent chak event. and many more
Should be posted in bugs. Will get a faster response.
i probably should have posted at bugs section yeah :P
It’s more than 4.2 mil, its 4.2bil
Oops, my bad! thanks for pointing it out. fixed it
It appears to possibly be just a display issue. Try throwing rocks at the shield and see if it breaks after the normal amount.
Yeah, it is just a display bug. It breaks after the normal count. Still funny to see tho. Figured it is worth showing the bug regardless
(edited by GWMO.4785)
Have you noticed that livia, a necromancer, was welding a sword.
Which is completely irrelevant. Trahearne was wielding a greatsword that had mixed skills in it. The main story came with launch of GW2. this was even before season 1 was considered let alone the expansion. Even then the reaper contains different skills. And so are a lot more examples…
Also i do no think anet will add a new class. I actually hope that they wont even. Looking back at how Revenant is.. no.. i’d much rather see them fixing it along side a few more classes
(edited by GWMO.4785)
I personally have a different issue with the legendary trinket(s). I have seen a video that demonstrates the first trinket. And from that, it seems like they come with their own effect. Like weapons and armor. This is a huge bummer for me. You see i am one of those people that wanted the legendary trinkets for a long time, duo to their practicality. No gear swapping, but just stat swap on the fly. (Yes i main mesmer). But now i have seen that video. I have no longer interest. Cause imagen, if one comes with an effect/aura. So will the rest. With other words, by the time you get them all. You’ll turn into a giant radiating clusterkek
source (not mine): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbKrcv6x7_M&feature=youtu.be
Anet plz! Give us the option to turn off the effect/aura
(edited by GWMO.4785)
Thanks you “arena.net” ,I bought the game yesterday ,but today it does not work ………….
They are working on it. It has been mentioned multiple times. It’s not something that happens frequently. Jeez, calm down man. go outside. take a smoke.. try again later… w/e
Not with that attitude no.. Chrono is basically a support class. Why say no for UW support? Why shouldn’t we care about UW abilities….
I know that.. It’s why i created this topic. If more people show their “motivation” for allowing chrono to use wells underwater…. then that will probably draw attention, and hopefully some changes will happen. So plz, let your voice be heared
Yeah I doubt they’ll look at underwater combat anytime soon unless the new maps depend on it. I mean look at rev, half their legends don’t work underwater and they can’t swap out utilities like the rest of professions :P
Well rev does not only have new skills, but it is an entire new class. So in that sense i would kinda understand ANet doesn’t want to bother with it. But unlike that, the elite spec skills of chrono are wells. Which again where already there in core game. used by necro. So the mechanic is basically already there. They can use the same animations too.
Add to that, that chrono/mesmer doesn’t really bring something to uw combat, as where other classes have at least some dps or utility/support. So from that perspective i think chrono deserves its elite spec skills to be used uw. That way it can still bring quickness, aka being usefull.
(edited by GWMO.4785)
So… i recently started mapping with a necro. And doing so i discoverd that the class could use wells underwater. Which immidiately raised the question: Why can’t Chronomancers use wells underwater?
I mean the mechanic is already there. ANet could use the same animations as necro does. It’s just that the skills apply different effect(s). I remember them saying that they dont really bothered with underwater skills for the elite specs… But much like necros and eles can use shouts underwater, i think chrono deserves to use it’s wells underwater too. Cause again, mechanic is already there, can apply same animations either
#makechronogreatunderwater
Yes plz <3 also change the focus model to the one that is previewed above. Current ingame model is kitten
Not much. You can have a “burst” stealth if you chain all your fast recast & stealth skills, but you’re on a big cooldown afterwards. So its not much use.
If you still wish to do so, here are a couple things that will help you out. Tho do not expect great improvement:
Weapons: Torch (obviously)
Skills: Decoy, Veil, Mimic, Mass Invisibility
Traits: Prismatic Understanding (Chaos), The Pledge (Illusion), Seize the Moment (Chrono).
Your Rotation would be something down the line like this:
The Prestige > Mass invisibility > Continuum split (use while casting MI) > wait for CS to revert MI > Mass Invisibility > Veil > Mimic > Decoy > Decoy > The Prestige. (End with huge cooldowns)
