4-5 some decent stat rings from fractals/pvp
1- tequatle horde wep box..
2 ascended armor boxes from pvp (best drops ive gotten in game)

?!?!??!

Holy Crap, can I have some of that luck?

I havent played since Beta, but I have played since launch, and so far I have found:

0-0 random crap stat rings from fractals/pvp
0-0 some decent stat rings from fractals/pvp
0- tequatle horde wep box..

It is the same for every game I play.

If you play other games, take note of their official forums. You would intuitively think that these would be the best moderated forums, but in fact it is quite opposite.

Official forums are the most vitriolic forums, populated by the most abusive members toward the developers and disparagement toward the game itself. The reason this is allowed is because the developer does not want to deal with the potential backlash of alleged censorship. As a result, the only things that are ever moderated on an official forum are exploits made public, and abuse by one member toward another member, and of course more grievous offenses like threats. And so, for every constructive and insightful discussion there are a dozen self-entitled child-rage and trolling posts.

Short version is: There is less abusive and vitriolic B.S. on an unofficial forum because it isn’t tolerated, especially on reddit but true for all other game forums. Check it out: For any commercial title, official forum vs unofficial forum follow the same pattern.

Healing.... It might need some tuning...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

the healing stat should govern outgoing heals, not incoming heals. its just silly how it works now.

but governing outgoing heals is what it does now …

if I throw a ‘heal’ – regardless of my healing stat it will effect a target with more healing power then a target with less. To put it another way, if a warrior in full zerk with vigorous shouts uses a FGJ!, a player in clerics will heal more then a player in zerk gear, the warrior and the zerk will heal equally. – Therefore healing power governs the amount of heal you receive, not the heal you throw.

the heal amount in the tooltip is the amount of healing you receive, not the amount you give to someone else.

I tried again, skipping the cutscenes and plowed my way through to the airship to make it to the giants only to be unable to actually use the cannons.

So basically, the climax of the personal story that I have ‘enjoyed’ all the way to its end is unplayable. ridiculous.

I understand completely how a person might feel about the anticipation of upcoming content trivializing present content, I cant bring myself to play Diablo 3 at present because of this very thing. – This could be because of the ‘ladder season’ feature though. Gw2 however hasn’t lost any momentum for me, there is simply too much to do, and I enjoy the world enough to find fun in it.

HoT isn’t going to change your mind about the game if you aren’t already interested in it now. You might find a few hours enjoyment, but you will be ready to move on sooner then later, so best to just stop anticipating now and save yourself the perceived let-down.

stack damage is to broken

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Greymelken.1892

Greymelken.1892

Bleed damage wasn’t changed. It was originally supposed to be buffed but they reverted it.

What you are seeing is the power creep from direct damage.

1. Everyone get FOUR additional traits- This gives everyone an immediate 15-20% damage boost.

2. Stats were moved to gear instead of trait lines. Anyone wearing power gear will have more power now than they did before the patch, further increasing damage.

3. Boons are everywhere now. Pretty much every class can spam endless boons now, meaning you gain further crit/damage/quickness then before the patch

4. Burning is OP right now. This will almost certainly be nerfed, but buring was significantly buffed.

When every player does 10k damage now, even 500 stacks of bleed from pure condition users would only add 75k dps. A pittance compared to 100 zerker players doing 10k dps now.

I would not call it power creep at all, that would have to come from better gear and higher caps on damage ranges. Since launch the damage output from lvl 80 exotics has been the same, the only ‘creep’ we got was the marginal increase in damage afforded to users who invest in ascended gear.

I had my doubts that 1500 stacks of condi would turn out well.

Then when Christmas came I was bored, and all I had to look forward to was more grinding for karma in church

I ruined my own christman day because I made unreasonable demands of my Mommy.

Speaking as a person who has paid considerable amounts of money for gems since release, upgraded 5 characters with maximum bag slots and storage space, and purchased pretty much anything that facilitates convenience, including unlimited use harvesting and salvaging tools for each character I play, costumes, skins, crafting liscences and fluff items: I can say that after a thousand or more dollars invested in Anet/NCSoft I am entitled to absolutely nothing.

Anet has offered me the opportunity to pre order the expansion with scant information as to the scope of its content and it is my choice to avail myself of the opportunity or not. As much as I try, I cannot with any sense of logic or reason think of any reason to be upset.

In fact, using the same reason and logic that disables me to be upset makes me feel kind of indebted to Anet for the thousand of hours of fun they have allowed me to have.

I too can pull random figures out of my rear end.

My gut reaction was to call this a $1 million dollar error, but after looking at it a bit more I realized I was underestimating it.

NCSoft was expecting A.Net to bring in around $100 million from sales of the expansion before the end of the year. Using that as a baseline, marketing errors of this magnitude (and yes, this is a serious marketing error) can easily knock 2-3% off of sales on the margins through a combination of bad press and negative consumer sentiment. When you’re selling on that scale even a small percentage blip on the margin adds up to a huge amount of money.

Seeing this unfold has really driven home the value of proper market segmentation and advertising. Textbook marketing would say they need to move quickly to take control of the situation – the stunned silence isn’t helping.

I dunno man, putting a couple million dollar price tag on this boondoggle seems pretty conservative.

I respectfully submit that your speculation is omitting one very possible fact about this particular kind of outrage: For every person tabbing out to come to a forum and post about their consternation there are scores of people who are so thorougly enjoying the game and happily anticipating the expansion that it doesent even occur to them to tab out and contribute to the discussion either way.

If out of 6 million people, 3000 of them are upset, where are the opinions of everyone else?

And out of X people on a silly reddit that pledge they will not buy HoT, how many of them are going to buy it anyway?

In time, the numbers will tell the story.

One thing that cant be denied about SWtoR updates though is that they trivialize old content. I liked Cerka Dailies, Section X, Black Hole, etc. I liked the older dungeon/flashpoints. now that I am level 6o I can just tap my auto attack aoe and obliterate everything on the screen, it isnt fun at all. If I want to do ‘modern’ dailies I have Ziost, and beyond a few crashed probes there is nothing to fight on Ziost, the dailies are.. taking pictures. the only zone worth doing for the enjoyment of playing a game that requires thoughtful user input is Yavin, but with only 1 zone to play in it gets stale fast.

Not so with GW2. I can still have fun playing in a zone I outleveled 60 level-ups ago, I can play beside a friend who isnt as high level as me and it wont just be a carry as he watches me eat everything before he can even swing on it. Down-leveling is brilliant, and probably the single feature that keeps me interested in the game. The value of GW2 for me is that the entire world of Tyria is my playground, and not just Orr and Maguma Wastes.

Who tells Anet what they can or cannot release as information on the upcomming expansion?

There could be many reasons Anet hasent replied to any of this, not least of which is the possibility that they might even agree with some of it.

It’s cheap because you are cheap and don’t buy anything. And you’re only thinking from your cheap player perspective . Do you know why you had the right to play for free and got content for free? Because somebody else paid for you.

IMO, you don’t have any right to criticize anybody who actually supported the game by buying gems from ArenaNet.

I have spent a little over a thousand dollars for my (nearly) three years of play. It is pretty cheap compared to many (most?) other forms of entertainment that I have enjoyed.

why did you spend so much on star trek and nothing at all on gw2?

I can see how that was misleading, I submitted my unnecessary expenses on STO while only submitting subscription and liscencing fees for the other games.

Consequentally I spent that much on STO because I lead a ‘guild’ and happily took a lot of the burden of our success on myself. the essential cost of STO was acually $0.

Had I included the cash shop items from SWtoR it would have easily doubled, I even bought things I didnt need for WoW. Im not sure I have ever paid as much for Gw2 as I did for STO, (tey are crafty enough to not keep a ledger that I can review) but I certainly dont want for anything I can have from the cash shop.

Industry standard? For expansions? Really? Maybe for WoW, but WoW is not the industry.

If I look at the other MMO I play… Eve just had it’s 6-monthly expansion (free). But that’s a sub game, so I guess you don’t think it counts, even if most of us spend more on gems than we spend on subs. OK then. The Secret World (f2p) just had another issue for 960 funcom points…less than 10 Euros. SW:TOR (f2p with limitations) had an update in April and is announcing another… both free.

So yeah, I think ANet is a bit on the expensive side in comparison.

As to ‘entitlement’… that’s a stupid buzz word, which is currently misapplied all over the place. What you have here is a question of value for money, which is exacerbated by the fact that one of the main features of the new expansion, the Revenant class, is inaccessible for veterans (at least those who have not already paid $$ for extra character slots), unless they fork over another $10 on top of the expansion. Which is just bad marketing and bad PR.

Star Wars the Old Republic did infact just release a new content update for free, a month after their $50 expansion that brougt 2 zones, 4 dungeons and 2 raids, raised the level cap to 60 (trivializing all content designed for anyone under lvl 55 btw. no more fun pve dailies). this new pack ‘Rise of the Emperor’ introduced one zone you could play through once during a story line, and then the same zone gets ‘destroyed’ and becomes a dialy hub with No Combat. Your daily involves taking pictures. I would not put too much value in SWtoR’s ‘free’ content updates as each time a game like that raises their level cap it serves to herd players into the same spot to create the illusion that there is a healthy population.

WoW is the Gold Standard for the industry, like it or not.

And as to buzzwords: the biggest buzzword of all buzzwords is ‘buzzword’. – the concept of Entitlement is as old as egotism, in fact entitlement is egotism.

http://www.swtor.com/info/news/article/20150615

If it was only $20 I am indeed mistaken, and if that upsets you, I apologise. I thought it was $50, I dont really look at my statements, I new I had to pay if I wanted to play, and I knew how much I enjoyed playing, so the price wasnt anything that weighed so heavily on my mind that I could recall what I had spent. I pressed the shiny pay now button, sue me. – I can afford it. the point is – The content that they offer hardly compares to the content Gw2 offers, and any time a game raises its level cap and doesent downlevel you for lower leveled content, thus trivializing the content – that reduces the scope of the game.

Some people don’t buy anything on the cash shop. Obviously these people are pretty happy to “only” pay 50$ now.

For veterans like me who have actually supported the game by buying hundreds of dollars worth of gems during those last 3 years (so basically the people Anet should be trying to keep), it is pretty disheartening to see how they just seem to not care about us.

Just as ‘disheartened’ as you are of this, as are we for players showing such attitude. When people complain about $50 one time price to play for 3 years after I have paid much much more then that for silly cosmetics and the like enabling people to opt into only paying $50 to play forever, by being a part of the population that pays for the game’s continued developement; it is a bit disheartening.

Dont get me wrong, I dont buy gems to reward Anet, they have to give me a reason to buy them beyond my appreciation… but I will admit that my appreciation does make it easier to recite my cc number.

GW2 is so cheap for the content it offers.

Perhaps you misread, or I wasnt succinct enough. I mean to say that $50 was all anyone had to pay. My pricing was based on what was absolutely necessary to pay. I’m not going to invite a contest, but the idea that I am a cheap player speaking from a cheapskate’s perspective is pretty hillarious.

As long as we are comparing GW2 to other mmo offerings, I think we can agree that a big difference between this and other games is that no content in GW2 is ever trivialized by updates or over-leveling, so even starter zones can be relevant. Anyone who has thought about crafting ascended gear knows that the game isnt just about lvl 80 zones. Because of this there Has to be an incentive to new players to join or else there is the potential that a player would not want to join because they missed the train on its first pass and now everyone has the window seats.

This is why I dont play Eve. I love spaceships, and sci-fi, and the idea of a complete fre-for-all sociopathic community of piracy, but if I were to play now with my account that has little more then a year worth of ‘training’ I would be one of the little people forever.

Comparing it to WoW, they love to trivialize their content. Anyone playing on a PvP server knows that they cant level in the open world without the real threart of someone droping out of the sky on their level 100 and one shotting them before they are even noticed. Even on a pve server a level 100 can just drop in and wipe out a whole screen of npc’s with their smallest aoe and disrupt you from collecting 10 bear hides, or whatever.

Gw2 is a great game that doesent have these problems fully, but there is still the sense that a new player would be far behind a three year veteran, and it is very true. Imagine playing an entirely new account and the things that you couldnt do if you were forced to start at square one. You would want that old account back, and all the fancy skins and high level characters to farm with, to say nothing about how much more knowedgeable of the game a veteran is.

I feel like I got more of my money’s worth playing Gw2 several times over what I got investing money in any other game, and the irony is this is the cheapest MMO I have ever played. $60 for 3 years of fun! it really is unbelievable that this is possible.

WoW – 3 years $700
Final Fantasy XI – 2 years $480
SWtoR – 2 years $480

GW1 – 4 years $60
Gw2 – 3+ years $60

and for $60 GW2 has exponentially more replay value and sustainability then all the other MMO’s I have played combined! This is why entitlement doesent settle well with me. GW2 is so cheap for the content it offers.

It was never my intention to have created such a polarizing topic that would garner this much attention, it was a point I felt should be made, even though I really should have know better.

This topic has brought more attention to myself then I am comfortable with, and It is sad that many of you feel the need to add me to your friend list in game so you can send me private messages with personal insults and threats as soon as I log in, insults that have nothing to do with and make no mention of this topic at hand.

Please stop harassing me in game, that kind of behavior is totally unnecessary.

I doubt that 800 getms would be enough to satisfy anyone, there really isnt anything they can do to satisfy anyone, people will always complain because it is easy to do, and sadly, among video game forums, it is far more socially acceptable.

That said, if they are introducing a new class, it isnt a reasonable request at all to get a free character slot so the people might enjoy it withut having to pay on top of the expansion.

And even with that said, I am not upset that people wont get a new slot, because if they did I would have no doubt that the entire population of Tyria would be Revanent.

Reason why people are mad: Fairness.

Really I need some input on that…because this make no sense to me at all.
I bought the game; play the hell of it, supported the company but I’m not supposed to have a decent sale offer for the expansion like any new player ?

Do you get upset and rant and rave at your cable company when they offer free HBO for a few months to new customers while you have to pay for it?

Coup de gras. Debate is over. Reason is champion.

I would be inclined to believe you but you keep popping up in threads. If you are so mad at anet and you are ging to boycott everything that you dont like, then the best thing you can do is leave.

If you leave and never post again, that will hurt anet more then crying about how mad you are at anet. Publicity is publicity, negative or not. Every post you make brings these forums and this game closer to the top of google’s search results, and when they come, they might just get enlightened while they sift through all the garbage posts about how Anet is the Beast.

But you wont leavem because you love anet, you love guild wars, you love disney, or you wouldnt be talking about them and invoking their names on the internet.

If I am wrong, and any of this expressed negativity would hurt anet, they would have deleted the topics, even if they had to invoke the reasoning that every one of them spirals off topic.

I got 2.5k hours out of the original game. paying $50 for an xpac full for features and content is the least I can do. I preordered as soon as I could.

secondly, im HAPPY for all the new players getting the deal. it doesn’t bother me one bit.

Way to bring a ray of sunshine into our dismal pity party. You’re such an upper.

Seriously, how dare people ask to know what they’re paying for! The nerve. They should just pony up and pay for the privilege.

. . .

While I enjoy Guild Wars 2, I’m not dropping a dime until I see something of what I’m getting beyond vanity items. Call me a miser, but I work for a living. I tend to want to know where and on what I’m spending my money.

Im not going to call you a miser, based on this insightful missive I would call you a pragmatist. Now, if you could take that same pragmatic approach to this situation and walk away from it since it clearly isnt relevant to you, I might even call you wise.

Look, kittens: if it bothers you that much, turn away from it. Howling about it is only going to remind you of how uncomfortable you are about it. Unless you enjoy being miserable, your lives would be enhanced by removing the things that cause you duress whenever you are empowered to do so.

Argue for your discontent, and sure enough: its yours.
