This has been talked about a lot. RNG is essentially gambling, you could win big or never win at all. The people I see saying they have tossed thousand of rares into the forge just make me wonder though……who honestly doesn’t just buy a precursor at that point.

I tossed about 400 in before I realized I was never going to win, then I just saved up (which took quite a long time) but eventually I bought my precursor, and my legendary is right around the corner, and it feels somehow satisfying to have worked for it, and not lost out on too much.

i have bought all 4 of my precursors so far but for me its about the 5k+ hours played and investing in every lotery going not just precursor forgeing and still never being lucky

Well like I said, it’s gambling. You could play for 10k hours and never see a precursor or win any of the other lotteries that the game offers. Complaining that you spent money gambling on an extremely slim chance at the rewards and didn’t win is your fault. Expecting to have a higher chance just because your spending more money in the mystic forge with a 5k playtime record is just silly.

This horse has been beat into a fine paste by now. Everyone everywhere on the forums knows "Someone spent x money and got nothing QQQQQQQ while someone spent a fraction of x money and got lots of rewards. " Scavenger hunts are on the way for those of us unfortunate enough to not win the mystic forge or too poor to afford a precursor.

When I am just roaming in random pve zergs or soloing things I honestly just pull out a pet that I like the look of and use them for the fun of it. Of course then I have to deal with the names being overwritten so all my pets are “juvenile blah blah blah”

Bell choir was awesome! I’m super excited to do the events this year. Like the snowball fight where people were rolling around as giant snowballs, or bringing gifts to the poor gingerbread children on the mountain in that jumping puzzle hahaha. It’s going to be great

Yea I noticed orichalcum spiked up to 7s as well. Means I make more after I cash in my farms for the day! Woot!

Yea the group leader having total control of an instance has always been a problem. I know that if I end up making the instance I always feel like I have a safety net around me.

I would definitely be for having the game choose a new party leader, but honestly I don’t think arena.net has gone all this time without recognizing this problem. Would be nice to see something implemented to the party system.

Yea I never remember seeing them say they were unique to last year only. My understanding was you could only have enough cogs to craft some of the minis, and if you wanted the rest you either had to buy them or wait for next year.

Not like you can show all of the minis at the same time, and they are only giving one out via the meta event so I don’t see what the big deal is. They are hardly the rarest mini’s ever, no reason to get upset.

I read this as “I don’t like what other people are doing, so instead of not doing, it I’m going to complain on the forums!”

Yes champ farms are boring, I sometimes will join the one in frostgorge sound if I am only a couple gold away from something I need to buy, but honestly, you can’t assume you know what’s best for everybody. You may not like champ farms but somebody out there might love them.

For me I have just been farming my orichalcum and ancient wood log nodes for a couple months now (about 2-3) and slowly saving my tier materials that dropped or I bought with laurels. With a combo of ectos I got from CoF and Fractals I’ve finally got all the pieces for my legendary except 50 Icy Runestones. I work and go to college with only 1-2 hours a night to play usually, sometimes more on the weekends but even I have almost earned my legendary.

So I am almost there and it was definitely a long and painful path, but I feel like it’s going to be even more rewarding when I finally forge it in the mystic forge. However I know deep down soon enough legendaries will be easy enough to craft and every person will be running around with footstep particle effects under their feet.

I realize they are a wanted commodity but they should stay hard to obtain. there are plenty of skins in-game that are just as cool if not better looking than some legendaries that take a fraction of the commitment.

According to the email I got it says

“Your rewards will be based on gems purchases and gem code redemptions between 12:01 AM December 1 and 11:59 PM December 31 PST. In early January, you’ll receive the gifts you unlocked!”

So your probably out of luck if you purchased before December 1st

Having an icy effect on my armor would be amazing. It would fit my blueish color scheme of my characters hair an armor. I think it’s a good idea.

I’d say keep it and sell at a later date. It is unlikely that the supply will skyrocket, which means as they continue to sell, the supply will decrease and the cost will go up. However, don’t expect huge returns on your investment unless you plan on being extremely patient with your item.
I would at least wait until they aren’t available as drops anymore and a week after that you can look up the prices and try to speculate when you want to sell it.

I agree. Fear not this Night still comes on my ipod when driving to work or college. It’s a great song, I remember listening to it while eagerly awaiting beta weekends and announcements.

It was epic, it reminds me of finishing arah story mode, and then conquering lupicus in explorable for the first time. Or the mad king coming out of the fountain and the defending lions arch against the karka siege. While I have to agree that Scarlet is not an intimidating villain with her “Hue I’m a cute and crazy bad gurl” I feel like she won’t be around forever though.

But we do have sort of epic events going on if you take her out of it. Like running the nightmare gauntlet in the tower or slaying the boss in the thaumova reactor. Though I hope one day we’ll be taking part in blowing off Jormags wings, shoving Primordus back to hell, or even chopping our way through an elder dragons minions to get to their lair. I feel like overcoming overwhelming odds against a seemingly unstoppable foe (aka an elder dragon) would be drastically more satisfying than watching scarlet run away from us every time we see her.

We need more scary and intimidating places like Orr to build up some stokedness.

Careful though! Sometimes for me if I am around a lot of other players and I see a great opportunity for a screenshot when I turn off the interface my game will freeze for a few moments while it loads.
But yea crtl-shift-h I bound mine to my numpad 7 and the print-scrn to numpad 8 so I can quickly get snapshots if I need to.

In my honest opinion, I do not see people wearing that skin as “special” or lucky or anything. They just look exactly like the thousands of other naked human females running around the game or standing in lions arch. It seems to me to be a really homogenized look amongst lots of players. I can understand that it was cool and I totally get that if you had wanted that look and now you can’t get it that it has got to be disappointing. I would feel the same way if an armor came out and I couldn’t wear it but I seen people roaming everywhere with it.

However the armor is not going to be there forever and the devs stated you can get a refund if you don’t like the new design so don’t quit over ten dollars you can get back after you’ve test drove the new skin design, that’s more than anyone can really ask for imo.

I had a little time yesterday and today to try out the new fractals. I played a lot of fractals throughout the year, more when they first came out, and a then the odd few here and there lately. I had mostly just reading the forums about how hard they were or (insert raging opinion about flame kissed armor here) or just the general over-reaction to the content.

I have only done story mode and the aetherblade + aetherblade boss fractal. Story mode was kinda disappointing on the story part but I liked the fractal in general. I did not think the last boss was nearly as hard as the rest of my group did. Me and one other guy ended up just duo fighting it while our group members fell (which was pretty funny) but we were having a good time with it. Which I think I find most of the time the general feeling when doing dungeons to be pretty light hearted in the gw2 community.

The regular fractals were fun and I noticed they take a little longer than usual. I’m not sure how I feel about odd fractals having boss encounters. But in the end the rewards were great, even got a pristine fractal relic below 10.

All in all it’ll probably be great once the few tweaks and fixes are in. I actually enjoyed it for the most part. It’s by no means the best content patch EVARR but I’ll probably delve into fractals more often than I would have now.

I am thinking that if she does wake up an elder dragon, it will go Hive Mind Vs. Kendra on her. (hopefully?)

Oh yea no kidding, I almost whirlwinded off my second time up there. It’s a seriously dangerous platform walk to get to the instance.

I finally made it to the top ducking and dodging my way through a pretty barren overflow. Then made the tragic mistake of putting on the diving goggles and jumping off for the achievement.

I feel like when you make it to the top there should be a travel golem up there so every time we want to do the instance we don’t have to retrudge through level three.

You got me curious, so I went and checked my bank account history since the game launched, searched for NCSOFT. Turns out I’ve spent $86.72 total, which shocked me! It seems like I would have spent a lot more! Considering I’ve been playing for like almost14 months now the 6 dollars monthly for entertainment doesn’t seem so bad.

You can sell the ToT bags on the TP for almost 3s a bag….

Yea while I do like Halloween this year it’s not outstanding like last year. I liked the countdown events where nobody was sure what was going to happen, and the dramatic mad king entrance topping it off.

It’s the first day of course but there isn’t any mention on the site that there’s ‘more to come’ like last year. I would have preferred a story arcing piece by piece. So far it’s enjoyable but I feel as though it’s missing the Wow! factor.

Took me 50 chests, 20 dollars rest I bought by selling some legendary tier mats and ectos I was saving. Opening those chests got a little addicting for a sec.

I don’t know why I wanted it but I wanted it.

Basically I should have just bought it with gold but I did end up getting a holo scarlett and caithe mini plus some boosters which I’ll probably never use.

That said, that is probably the last time I’ll ever use the chest RNG. I had the 1600 gems saved for the costumes (town clothes) from last year (I have witch wanted mad king to complete the set) but read somewhere they won’t be returning so I got keys instead and I am not interested in the bloody thorn outfit that ‘might’ be coming soon.

All in all I’d recommend just being patient for skins to come down in price on the tp since the event is going on till November. The chances of getting a ticket are just too phenomenally low to actually justify spending real money on. I just wanted to give a little perspective to anyone thinking about the keys, I’m not saying don’t buy the chests, just realize you may not get super lucky. Either way it’s up to you whether or not it’s worth it!

First of all, unless someone was expecting the price of those materials to crash to nothingness, what were they thinking? If they do in fact crash to basically being worth nothing, then what did they expect people to do the events for? Fun running zerging around a bland and empty maze?

Second of all, why isn’t there achievements for the minigame or the clocktower?

The mats will go down and thats because since people do the event, they get candy corn, thats what make the candy go low. If nobody get candy corn the price dont drop.

Clocktower give you candy bags and a exotic glove with a stat of your choice.

Anyways it’s not just candy corn for a Halloween skin that you need, you also need like 700g worth of skulls/fangs/nougats. What makes it expensive is that the items sell to the vendor for about 35-36 copper which means the price on the tp will not dip significantly enough below that in order to get the skin for ‘cheap’.

Yea I bought gems in anticipation of costumes as well. Bought black lion keys instead after I seen there weren’t any sigh and no ticket. Still lots of fun Halloween stuff to do at least.

In my opinion you’ll just have to watch out for speedrun grps and whatnot OP. There ARE groups out there that will take sub-80’s or you could even advertise a party yourself! For example today I made a party (on my level 80) and I ran TA U/U with a group of 55’s who had never done an explorable today.

I taught them the fights, explained a few strategies they would see typically when joining other groups, and we got through the dungeon relatively fast. I was actually surprised, but it was a fun experience and I am glad to have helped a few people out and hopefully created 4 more people who in the future will be assets to their group.

In other words there are groups out there and if your having trouble finding one or don’t see a dungeon group might as well make one and put your preferences in the description!

While I do like the idea of having skins available to your character I’d like to just have like…a slider panel on my hero screen where I can store multiple skins and swap them out so I don’t have to buy the skin I want, then buy and exotic with the stats I want, buy a transmutation stone then fuse them together and come back to my bank whenever I want to change my skin.

I think it would be cool even if they offered like a ‘storage’ stone or something that bound the item to your character and allowed you to swap between for example an arah skin and a blue rarity skin without losing your items exotic quality or stats when out of combat from your hero tab!

+1 to adding a way to easily use multiple skins on a character!

I was absolutely obsessed with GW2 and eagerly awaited it to come out taking tons of time off to play the BWE’s. After it was released I think I no lifed until the karka event which discouraged me a little bit (part of just jealousy at other loot or w/e it was). I absolutely loved fractals but was weary it may start attracting elitism attitudes and I feared the community would take a turn for the worst.

I played on and off again throughout the rest of the year but nothing nearly as major as I was. Partly because I would enter the living story and I would be bombarded with too many things to do/achievements to get/things I didn’t understand that was new to the game. I would come back to the forumns regularly but sometimes they can get pretty…toxic. I was guilty myself of doing a few rage posts a long time ago haha.

Anyways the past month I have started playing regularly again and I find myself enjoying the game immensely! I’ve been just immersing myself in the world and doing things that seem like fun to me instead of “Omg run arah exp all day and show off my leet gear” like I was the first month or two the game came out.

I think I enjoy the game more now because I am starting to shed a lot more of my elitism and vertical progression habits that have been instilled in me from playing other mmos for so long before gw2. Now I take the good and the bad and just enjoy it! Wiped a few times in the new twilight arbor dungeon? No sweat! Finished it? Great! The community is still great and abnormally friendly! Everyone is respectful and helpful except of course those rare few but of course no bigge!

The halloween event has got to be one of my favorite events (I love the holiday events in gw2). I am super excited for it to come out! I’ve been dying to play some of that hide and seek activity and explore the labyrinth again!

But yes from what I remember last year everything you did like the dungeon/labyrinth/activities during halloween scaled you up to 80! So don’t worry you can join in on the fun!

Yea honestly I agree,
This isn’t the game I paid for. I was a pretty big fanboy eagerly awaiting this game’s release thinking it was going to be the most next gen and fun MMO/game I had ever played.
But Anet is just turning their back on their whole philosophy that they set out with.
Now before I am hammered with merciless “Go back to wow” or “Stop playing” comments I’d like you to watch this and remember the game you were suppose to be playing.

Now there are a select few people who got spoonfed hundreds of gold, the community is at each-others throats over the RNG gamble with the Karka chest, there’s a gear treadmill, and endgame has become nothing but a fluffed up currency grind.
I too am a dissatisfied customer and I will probably be spending my time somewhere else where I can play the game and not feel like there is a giant rift between me and my fellow players.
Maybe come back for wintersday because…well holiday events are always neat =3 and hopefully the game hasn’t taken another turn for the worst.

Yea Arah gates are bugged on Sanctum of Ral and Gates of Madness server as well. I would really like to get in and finish this dungeon set!

Maybe leave the gate open until a fix for the meta event is up.
