its only available from laurel vendors and the like. its not on any drop table that I know of.
Personally( and I know I’m kinda singular in this belief) I don’t mind the gem to gold conversion. Not thrilled at the exchange rate mind, but at least its a way that allows you a fairly safe way to get gold without having to get ones account hacked by a disreputable gold seller. I’ve played a handfull of MMo’s over the years and GW2 is the only one I have found that actually does a conversion like this.
Most game companies tend to set rarities on items and then use that to make one farm the currency of choice for said item so that you play longer to get the better items. And while GW does this they at least saw a opportunity to the casual gamer that had spare cash to at least have SOME progress with a direct gem to gold store.
Admittedly im starting to feel that GW2 has TOO MANY currencies and keys and things of that like, since with every new zone we get a new currency and while in some thematically it makes sense they need to stop doing that at some point.
Is the build I’m trying to put together. Mostly its for wvw/pve use and overall utility.
So far the build is semi theoretical in the fact I do need to still get some mastery points to survive in Dragon stand so that I may FINNALLY get the commanders exotic to slide my current build to. Following a few threads and fiddling with the editor this seems like a decent power build, that’s “should” be able to cleanse enough conditions to make some kind of impact.
Any thoughts?
Yeah celestial ele in most pve formats just barely covers what you need damage wise. Sure the rest of the bonuses are relevant in so many different ways since ele can flip into a lot of different roles quite quickly. I’d rather stick to two roles than try to be everything at one time. That and the armor stats back that up since even using 4 stat armor means that you get closer to the average than spreading focus out in celestial.
I use this for my wvw blob/siege needs. Admittedly if you do this in exotics you loose a bit of dmg and other stats but yeah I’ve had fun with this.

I am from Crystal Dessert and tried to cap a shrine for the daily, usually no problem. Today though even though I capped the shrine from beginning to end, the daily wouldn’t complete.
crusader is the other, and like Donari said they are available at the tailor/ect vendors near any crafting station, and to further clarify you use the regular discovery process to create the armor. All your buying karma wise from the vendor is the insignia recipe.
(edited by Head Kracker.4790)
sadly you are quite screwed in that both the insignia and the gear are account bound for most all the 4 stat items. Luckily marauder is one of two armor sets you have to just buy the recipe from the regular karma vendors. You still need leatherworker/tailor/armorsmith at 400 though.

Now I KNOW that anything Easter related event wise would go to next year, and also not be called anything easter, but since we finally got rabbit ears why not give a holiday to the Norn. Make it the hidden Shrine to Rabbit
Mayhap a Jumping Puzzle in Rugnar’s Steading where you compete under a speed boost of 10% for bronze level, 33% for silver level, and 66% at gold to earn a bunch of dubious chocolate, savory chocolate and dark chocolate to combine with a egg in the mystic forge for a bunny tail back part. Make the JP easy to minor medium difficulty since being under a Speedboost of 66% at higher levels would really mess with folks reaction times enough to already inflate the difficulty.
Just throwing this out there.
Yeah, we need it as a guild of cat people
Meow
So something like a Legion of Catgirls, which kinda already exists in game….
So the biggest thing we need right now is information. What are we getting for 50 dollars. What are the remaining specializations? How about breaking out some info for us to delve into that isn’t just media blurbs designed to raise hype.
I understand that the expansion is still in a beta state but if your willing for us to pay money for something that doesn’t have any concrete release date, how about showering us with information to make a reasonable choice so we can vote with our cash to see if the new thing is worth it?
a teapot….. what look it up
no free vitality boost and no free toughness WILL probably change the meta you know. If im spending the equivalent of 25 gold per armor bit id rather NOT change it after since you have no way of knowing what the meta will turn out. We may get away from a zerk meta now since you cant just add to you stats thru traiting. Or the meta may shift to something that isn’t as glass cannon.
uhh this is ascended armor you know, its not exotic that costs like 75% less. Silk and blood alone cost a good chunk of change
nope I wouldn’t. what I would do is get the base materials and make the damask coat lining and the like. collect all the materials for the insignia, barring tier 6 materials, and wait.
The reasoning is two fold. First off armor stats are changing, alongside with how character stats are arranged. See they are removing stat bonuses from traitlines so you wont get a inherent stat boost to something like toughness anymore. The second being as said above gear is getting the remaining stats so it will affect how your gear to stat relationship will work.
personally I’m probably going to get this even though I hit master crafter awhile back. The reasoning is simple, ascended gear.
Now I get that I’m going to have to buy the recipe for each stat combo and weapon I make, but since I’ve been leveling my character crafting ability I’ve always paired like crafting with like crafting, Example being my warrior is a armorsmith and a tailor, since in the beginning I had more heavy and light armor characters.
This did help offset a cost that was in the games early day in that Karma was not account bound at that time. So when I learned the insignia for one I had it on both, the same can be said for now since Karma is harder to get unless you farm it by doing events. So buying a Zoijias insignia once and now for two characters is more economical at the current karma cost especially when leveling multiple professions to 500.
yeah….even with a couple hundred thousand players popping bags…the amount of eyes on the market isn’t enough to even reasonably craft one of these. Personally id NEVER spend 600+ gold on the market for a non legendary exotic no matter what the thing looked like
Stomping is pretty much when you have a enemy in a downed stated that you get to trigger a kill animation by pressing f while near them, which gives a likely hood better chance of a item dropping from the defeated player. IF a stomp is compleated the downed player will need to respawn from a waypoint. Stomping can be negated if they have a runskill like mistform or are able to get out of the downed state like you would in pve, ie power 4 someone heals you and so on.
Additionally the animation with the f button if compleated looks like you jump into the air and then slam down on the corpse, and a flag is bore into said corpse

this is a exotic drop only available to charactors level 80 from the shadow behemoth event in queensdale swamp
I dont belive your able to do this as chef, nothing material wise nor final product wise is mastercraft(ie green rarity). The plus side is if you dont mind doing another profession alongside chef, like jewler that has plenty of master craft in it.
I personally recommend doing it on tailor/leatherworker/armorsmith, since it count the creation of the mastercraft insignia, as well as the final craft of whatever armor parts you make.
I was actually wondering, other than magic find food, what other foods do people tend to buy? Think of this as a informal poll
Thankyou very very much for your site. The weapon skins alone make getting some great looking gear sooooo much easier, without ramming ones head into a wall trying to decode the pvp locker names…
and the conversion from armor from pve to a pvp set if you got it in the reg game was a recently added option, so dont feel bad about it. new thing just added.
Umm to the ranger that followed me halfway across the YB boarderland map and then got slammed by our zerg at the sawmill, Um Sorry.
I was actually on a mapping expedition to get world completion on a warrior specced for pve, and I figured you would give off chase once I dragged you through the 3 sets of npc’s. Once you followed me to the mill I though ok…Ill fight. Only to find out your that style of ranger that is uber regen..ok enlist our npcs at the mill to help spike the damage……. wait what, the zerg arrives?? huh why did that happen? We already controlled the mill. I really feel bad about that……REALLY didn’t mean to bring down the wrath of zerg
bloodlust is the same way… trust me go major unless you have 16 gold for 2 superior atm
OK, I’ve been fiddling around with my traits a bit lately, but is there any guidelines to the best way to trait a elementlist?
I know you want 10 to 15 points in arcane…..but the rest of the traitlines seem semi random and dont seem inclined to share when element changing. Am I missing something?
OK I know I may get some flack for this but hear me out.
Now I know that Anet does not think that the holliday instances are actual dungeons, but I really think they should. Now I’m more of a casual player, and a idea I had for places like Rata Sum, The Grove, ect, make them have a actual dungeon in each starting zone with a story mode and a explore mode that portrays some aspect of their culture in there.Just to flesh the story in each of the starting zones out of maybe the day in the life of the average tyrian culturally
Say a instance capped lvl 20 with mobs at 1/4th to 1/2 the current dungeon diffculty and with half the rewards. On weekly/3 day rewards timer. That way its not too farmable for dungeoners but is still rewarding for folks that dont want to do the full monty that is ascalon catecombs story mode.
I just think this would be a way to introduce folks to a dungeon experiance without throwing the average player to the wolves that are our current dungeon standards. If they dont like double difficulty then they wont like quad which is what dungeons are now. Heck it also would give folks something to do other than just story grind for some of the early levels, and help you understand more of whats going on in the starter zones than what your personal story tells you, and you leave behind in the dust.
I know this would be a long term thing and I’m not saying NOW!! I WANT IT NOW just to consider this, as a better intro to dungeons than we have now.
Sparkfly fen right outside the Astrozintli forelands, directly to the left of the zintil holy grounds waypoint, outside the wall, crystal desert server.
The reason I belive they were botters was that anytime anything spawned they would kill it and both groups would return to the exact same spot after all npcs were defeated. Wash rinse repeat. Took screenshots and put int ticket for support, but wasent any botting “reasons” in the bug ticket I sent. Figured a heads up here would also work.
Out of curiosity why is this game based around a pacific timebase when I thought a good chunk of the home servers are in austen texas?

Name one melee-centric class that doesn’t have at least a 900 ranged option or two or three.
If you get confused, stop hitting and kite until the confusion wears off.
You’re welcome.
name one mob that doesnt try to melee you when their poweres are short ranged.
name the number of kb powers or power per weapon that actually be chained together…….
Lets TRY and not be elitist here, ok so they suck at range, that doesnt mean you should deride folks that get ambushed by one in melee range or has one spawn on top of them while fighting one at range…. you know the times when YOU DONT HAVE A CHOICE BUT TO DIE…
If its immersion breaking to have waypoints at all they why have ways in the first place?
No im just sugesting that if we have another event like this that litterally spans half a map, and is designed so that you WILL die, that a temporary waypoint maybe midway placed would be a excellent way to keep players that arent as hardcore as some in the event as productive individuals
@ shiren I know how to dodge, and I have played dungeons…..and that walkway had very little area sometimes to dodge both the poision patches and the rolling vets/champs, that and some of the patches made it impossible to move since it immobilized you.
@TheGreatA But isnt a event like this SUPPOSED to be for everyone. Having a elitist attitude like that doesnt make folks stick around and keep the game healthy, it just cheeses folks off and say sorry no more.
(edited by Head Kracker.4790)
I dont mind a semi hard encounter…but once you got into the hive if you died it was a 10minute slog thru vetran infested fields unless someone got lucky enough to stay alive and start rezing folks.
Ok did the event today and while I was happy with my reward, the cheapness of the champions and the mass of veterans just killing wave after wave without being able to rez in a sanely closeby manner is starting to irk me. I know that some of this is how the NPC are rendering since the mass of players was making impossible to look around to see if the encounter was pullable or not, but still the amount of just spammy poisions and multiple layers got really old the 3rd time we near wiped.
In the future could we get a few temp waypoints put into events like this if they will span half a landmass?

@Arenanet
Overall I am quite fine with how the forums work…… but heres a issue that you might want to change later on. How about not putting the full username.number as the forum name so that account stealers who read who post most, dont already have half of the login information they need to access acounts?
Is there anyway to omit the number tag on the forum software? If it was just email & password to login this wouldnt be a problem login wise. But its not isnt it?
My account has not been stolen ever…but it does influance how much I post otherwise, since day one this tidbit of information has bothered me beeing so freely given.
42000 a pop on the armor karma wise…. and im guessing Vigel for the weaps?
yes you do get to 50% magic find
@monepipi
True but while your route to the gem funds can be done that way and is a vaild way to do that without spending any real life money, the gold to gem conversion ratio is still fairly poor, 1 gold will only net you 124 gems, and fine transmutation stones at the lowest amount offered need 1 gold 63 silver to purchase.
I personally dont think its worth the effort for someone who many not know where the best items or spots to farm are, or who may only be a casual gamer.
(edited by Head Kracker.4790)
well that depends. If the gear you want to change is level 80 you will have to spend money at the gem store to purchase fine transmutation stones. But if the gear you want the apparance of is level 1-79 then you need basic transmutation stones, which you get 3 of for each complete area you do. This means doing all the hearts, points of interest, veiws, and skillpoints compleately on any given map.
Doing the starting locations of each race would net you a fairly decent amount of xp alongside netting a decent amount of transmutation stones
ok on the dragons, there are the three hit boxes that you can target, the two “hands” and the head. The hands are there for melee types to wail upon so that they can do the maximum amount of damage, especially if the melee types dont have any ranged weapons equiped. Also its so that if there are a great number of players the two groups can form on either side of the beast so that vid cards dont have to render everyone in the area.
However if you do decide to target the head with a ranged weapon you do tend to do more damage with a ranged weapon at that location than you would if you used that ranged weapon on the targetable hands. Thats since many of the lower HP classes like elementalists would be decimated when the dragon rears up and slams down on the area around the claws and takes 10k worth of damage on 8k of health.
So overall if your going to play the dragons at range target the head, you do more damage there and defeat the dragon faster.
Depends are you talking about cultural weapons, ie weapons that are leafy? Or are you talking about getting a skin from a higher level weapon onto one of your lower leveled currently equiped weapons? Or something else entierly?
On the first cultural weapons for sylvari are based on asuran design at the first level, but if you search the black lion market under verdant, those are all the leafy weapons, and match the second teir of cultural weapons without spending as much gold/silver on them.
Nextly getting that skin onto a existing weapon, will require either a fine or basic transmutation stone, depending on how high the level of the weapon your trying to get the skin from.1-79 can be transfered using basic transmutation stones. 80 and exotics need to use fine transmutation stones.
Basic stones can be found when you totally compleate all the exploration of a lower level zone. By compleate I mean all veiws found, all points of interest found, all skillpoints collected, all waypoints found, and all hearts compleated.
Fine transmutation stones will either need to be found after opening a black lion chest or purchased off the gem store.
Its really easy to miss the king down in the crypt since when he spawns initially he moves to a corner of the chest room.
and page count is three in lions arch, one in queensdale, one in kessex hill, and one in gendaren fields.
And lets say you have compleated a zone but you want to do a dynamic event, there is no way your earning anought to go to frostgorge, if you have finished all the hearts in a area.
but that may be a little rough since you will have to cross half the map to get to the correct area to finish the padge count
I actually went and did the book a second time, since it says in the flavor text that the book isnt finished….we might have to check more ghosts in the upcomming weeks since they may add to the story and make the item more powerfull
If nothing else I can always deleate the pages
Do you have any of the main armor (tailor, leatherworker, armorsmith) done to at least iron/steel/cotton/linnen level??? If so a way to never accidently sell things can be done. They are called invisable boxes/bags. A 12 slot invisable box put into the last box position means that whenever you vend at a in game vendor you never have to worry about vending important things like rares or other armor sets you care to keep since they will never show up at the in game vendors as long as its put into those last 12 slots. Also the recipe is insanly easy since it only requiers one more crafting mat to make that everyone has a excessive amount, Dust.
