I just bought another bank storage tab, but I can’t see it on my demo char’s account. I have 3 tabs, but I can only see the 2 tabs I had when I initially created the char. Also, when my demo char puts items into my existing bank tabs, I can’t see those items on my normal chars. It’s like I never put anything into the bank at all.

Banning the only halfway decent players because you get bullied into doing it by opportunistic people faking outrage in order to further kill off their scene because all they care about is their own ego.

What are you basing these bans on? TOS being broken? In that case I advice you ban half of NA, including the people that probably endlessly whined to you about doing this.

IMO it’s none of anyones business other than anet of what people does w their ingame tourn winnings. The only way I could find a ban justified from your end is if someone actually changed the outcome of a match by cheating. Nothing like that happened.

But yeah, I’m sure jeff convincing you of banning the team that always beats him is all done in the ‘’fairness of competition’’ and not you getting bullied by whispers and not having the nuts to take a stance.

An even more depressing fact is people who do this deliberately will not get temp, auto, or perma banned for match manipulate because Anet has yet to fix their player report system.

Even if they investigate, there will be no “hard evidence” of match manipulation because games are limited to only chat logs :/

I sent screens of someone openly admitting to pulling people into walls to their exploits email. He also admitted to throwing matches. He’s still in the top 50. I wonder how he got there?

Condi Thief is OP. Source: I’m in top 10 NA using S/D condi thief. Of course im also ridiculously good at the game, but it’s broken. I’m not even good at thief, I main warrior, its just that warr is so nerfed that im forced to use kittened OP stuff like SD condi thief to climb.

Yeah you were in that match in Coliseum yesterday where we came back. I knew you were on condi thief and wasn’t sure if you could pull it off XD.

Anyways how would you nerf it? I’d remove a condi from Lotus Training and just generally lower DPS, I wouldn’t want any changes that affect thief sustain in general.

There’s always people that finds a reason to discredit others inputs. If he’s successful using that build and you don’t it’s because he can and good for him, that’s why people asks him to show his build. I use a vanilla condi necro with some variations and I’m fighting a position to top 50 with that build so you don’t have to be a meta boy to perform well, keep up the good work mate.

While this isn’t exactly a straw man argument on your part it’s pretty kitten close.

No one is arguing he shouldn’t share his build. People are simply stating that his method for delivery reaked of simply wanting more people forced to watch the video. Why make a build video when you can just use the editor. Editor is neater and easier to gather the important information.

Honestly it just seems like you wanted to bring up how you’re getting close to top 50 on a core necro build and chose to do it by arguing something no one else was arguing.

btw care to explain why Electric Wyvern over Bristleback? does its attacks hit more than a single target?

Both its active skill and one of its passive skills are CCs. Bristleback has the strongest F2 burst but otherwise is pretty weak and is completely controlled by projectile denial spells. Druids with Bristleback are pretty weak versus an ele/engi combo. Even necro shroud 2 can (if the necro’s lucky or very observant under pressure) absorb Bristleback F2 lol.

We all know this isn’t the only thing. Granted if said player has not already made multiple posts about different negative topics then yes I concede Crinn would be wrong to say something about the skills he’s using. If you think he was rude your free to think away. Just seemed like a more experienced necromancer giving another advice. He didn’t just discover some new crazy build we all know he WOULD improve both his immediate game and his experiences down the road if he just used something better than that. Doesn’t even have to be a meta build. I don’t play meta builds top often either but I do well enough.

But why bring this up when it’s irrelevant to the post? Everybody could improve in multiple ways I’m sure, but in this case there was an AFKer, he lost because of it, and Anet could certainly do something about it if Huolobo is being truthful and the person did just literally AFK. That’s the topic, that’s the problem, not this dude’s potentially unoptimized build. Also I might be defending him partly because he’s unintentionally hilarious and I want him to keep posting.

And it doesnt matter what he is playing, it doesnt mean anyone can be afk because he only will play with “metabuilduser”.

Crinn didnt mention anything about the afker. Only that he would have more luck in matches (this includes non 4v5s) if he used a better build. Hell he doesnt have to use a meta build but at least use one that makes sense.

While I agree that his build could use improvement, it’s kind of cruel to imply that if only he played better he could’ve won this match. That’s not the case. Helseth tried to do a 4v5 in bronze league and he barely won. And that was with a partial 5v5 since there were a few times when nobody on his team was DCed. And OP is probably not as skilled as Helseth, nor is the skill differential anywhere near as great.

4v5s are unwinnable for the vast majority of us and it’s demoralizing to be penalized for something completely out of your control. Anet can in fact figure out if someone has not been moving for X period of time, if you don’t believe me then just go to any hotjoin and stand there doing nothing for a minute.

While I agree about SoU (only useful in voicechat-using 5-mans) and Lich Form, Dagger MH is a good weapon, on-par with greatsword. Just depends on how you use it, though obviously not good on a condi build.

Usually losses happen when the opposing team is better than you. Thats how my losses have been.

Well when the opposing team is better than your team, no doubt. But he has a point about Glicko not being an accurate way of measuring an individual’s skill level.

This skill can be cast while facing away from a target; your character will about-face to face the target. However, if your character is facing away from the target before casting and you move your character after starting the channel, the skill will continue to channel but do nothing upon completion. This is true even if you’re within 600, the range of the skill.

Two ways I see to fix this:

  1. Cause movement away from the target to cancel the skill and put it on a 4s CD.
  2. For the sake of consistency with Life Siphon, allow the skill to channel successfully even while facing away from target.

Yeah I don’t have a problem playing with/against them. I’m saying the distribution of players was wrong, the other duo on my team should’ve been on Kronos/Jeffies’ team and Vallun and one of the other pugs should’ve been on mine. Instead MMR intentionally made it uneven and that’s how this turned out so badly.

Take a look at the screenshot. To clarify for those who don’t know the players on the other team: Jeffie is top 10 this season, MLGKorno (Kronos) is rank 18 and formerly top 10 in S5, and Veillantif (Vallun), rank 65, were all put on the same team. My team had me and my partner (me Plat 1, him rank 72), Backpack, who is currently 32, and then 2 I don’t know. I lost 7 because of this.

This is just a situation that should’ve never happened. We can’t quite keep up with the Kronos/Jeffie duo but it’s not inappropriate to put us in a game with them. But to compensate for their crazy high collective MMR, Vallun should’ve never been on their team. And I should not have gotten a clueless ventari rev and his duo partner, who was equally clueless. At the point the match is so imbalanced that I only lose 7 rating, I have to wonder, why make a match THAT imbalanced in the first place? Clearly the matchmaker felt it was way imbalanced, so why not either shift around the players or wait longer for more people to queue? Jeffie even said “anet blessed me with good pugs” so I take that to mean the matchmaker didn’t give him bad pugs to compensate for his high MMR. Basically it’s not fun to play these matches with inadequate teammates and a small rating loss is not a very nice reward for putting up with it.

So most materials in the game have some sort of coin value that you can get when you sell it to a merchant. An example would be Jade Shards, which are account-bound yet you can sell them to a merchant. I think that, considering how many Empyreal Frags, Dragonite Ore, and Bloodstone Dust I get that just goes in the trash, I should be able to sell it to merchants. I think 2.5g for a full stack of 250 would be a decent price. It’s just nonsensical to give so much ascended mats that are literally worthless, so give them some worth.

I was playing Druid. At the beginning of the match I told my team that I’d help mid, but then I’d go far and to let me 1v2, and not to plus me at far. I My team was basically stalled at mid by the other team while each team’s thief went around capping/decapping. Eventually our ele went down mid and I had to go far when he got stomped.

I was successfully 1v2ing the other team’s DH and ranger when our DH plussed me. That allowed the other team to snowball our other 3 incompetent teammates 3v3 and ruined the game. I got these nice PMs from my helpful DH at the end of the game.

I’m not great so these are sincere comments, trying to learn:

If Ele goes down, but they seem to have a DH/Necro really low, do we go for the spike & stomp, and try to carry on the teamfight, or leave for far immediately?

If your DH isn’t sure the Ranger doesn’t have Signet of Stone/enemy DH has used RF… why is he coming to plus? What is he trying to achieve? I don’t see him having the toolset for a rapid +1, even a Necro would be better here.

I think lose mid -> push far is a valid stall tactic for Mender Druid, right? A lot of the time even having a worse overall team won’t matter (unless huge skill difference) because 4v3 is very winnable. While setting it up can take some luck, a solid 1v2 stall should buy a lot of room.

I’m not too comfortable with going mid at start with Druid, no Astral Force can make an easy focus.

When you go far as druid isn’t terribly important so long as the other team tries to 1v2 you. Some people go far at start instead of mid → far. It doesn’t work at Plat 2+ since the other team isn’t dumb enough to 2v1 you indefinitely, but I’m in Plat 1 atm and am stuck with and against people who will 2v1 me forever. Would’ve worked too but my teammate completely ignored what I explicitly said. Third time that’s happened in the past few days.

What's with all the thieves hacking?

Just today I’ve run into 3 of these.
When they shadowstep it covers like 4 times the distance, with no cooldown. Am I missing some secret trait or something?
Sad thing is even if they’re hacking they still lose the match, cause they’re bad.
Might add that this was in a ranked match, so a decent player can easily get in the top 100 using this thing they’re using, plus it’s unfair for the rest of the players.
Are devs aware if this?

So something I’ve noticed for a while is the obvious: matchmaking isn’t anywhere near as good in unranked as ranked. My question is, why? Unranked is where I’d practice like I’m playing a ranked match, yet as a Plat player I’m getting matched with and against new players. What is the point of worse/looser matchmaking in unranked? Why not apply the current ranked MM algorithm to unranked too?

I haven’t seen any of that in S7 but I also haven’t played GW2 in over a week now. The last obvious bot I saw was during S6 and it was alone. It was a full trap DH that would spawn and go to camp home the entire time it was in the match without ever moving.
It was programmed to sit in the middle of the home point, spam traps and fire a LB. Every time you CC’d it off point, it would bug up or something and just stop taking actions all together until someone killed it, then it would resume it’s patterns.

It was needless to say, a very kittenty bot program.

I’ve seen one of these. I think it was an actual player but otherwise description is correct

Automated tournaments which are literally pure 5on5 where you have plenty of time to set up a comp with your pug, sort out communications and then also time to prepare for enemy comp when match starts are all unfair.

What is fair is you getting 5 people in the same party and voice coms to face one duoq and 3 soloquers.

The reason this is fair is because you cant win an AT. If you get to make a premade and face soloqers you can win. Which is fair.

He said that there should be separate 5 man and solo queue. To me there should be separate tournaments based on your pvp rank without decay. Have a bracket for bronze to silver 2, one for silver to gold3, and one for gold 3 to legend. Make the rewards scale with the bracket.

Having tournament where you have a chance to win makes sense. No sport throws novices and pros on the same bracket. People need to be challenged, and learn how to play as a team, but a bronze level team isn’t going to learn anything going up against a legendary team.

Most sports have a much more limited number of teams selected by a small numbers of elites, so that’s not in any way an accurate comparison. Tennis, though not a team sport, is similar in that basically anyone can try to get into tournaments, which is how you get big surprises like Rafael Nadal winning Roland Garros at the age of 19.

I suppose you could have noob and “pro” tournaments, but really these low-level players should just be practicing their 5-man game more if they want to win. Not ask for easier opponents. True competitors ask for true competition. If you bring a level 10 bulbasaur to challenge the elite four, is it their bad for being so strong? Or should you maybe have evolved it to a Venusaur before challenging them?

Just going to offer my preference here: I’d rather the matchmaker put me in a match where the average MMR is even for both teams than be on a stacked team. I was on a stacked team recently and the game was boring, we swept 500-50. I don’t log on for that, I’m 1600 and I’d rather carry some 1500s and rage at them and ping like a madman on the minimap but have a competitive match, than just steamroll or be steamrolled.

Just look at OP’s posting history and you’ll see a pattern. You’re right he’s wrong, ATs are fair and I enjoy them immensely. I’m in NA and mid-Plat, I basically play in Plat PUGs and we usually make semifinals no matter who I’m playing with.

Before I let this go, I’ll make my point extra clear: Killshot is essentially useless in sPvP and is holding the weapon back. A skill that’s effective at range should be just as or almost as effective at maximum range as it is at melee range. Killshot can simply be strafed without even a dodge, meaning I waste 1.25s on nothing while my opponent laughs. This needs optimization for sPvP not just brainless PvE mobs.

So you’re having problems with Thief?

If you want to hit an enemy in melee who’s weaving in and out of you, you can stand still, and let go of your Right Mouse Button, then hit your Axe skills. The skill, without RMB will track your target while channeling automatically.

If you’re fighting a Thief with Pulmonary Impact, try to blind/daze/fear before attempting a channel, and check if he used Steal as well. If he’s just spamming Headshot, sheathe your weapons and try your best to kite and not get hit by his Dagger autos. Let him burn his initiative then you can cast safely for a period.

For Invulnerability, just wait out the CD, don’t try to hit them in melee. If it’s a Warrior with Endure Pain/Berzerker Stance, kite it, use jump puzzles, stay as far away as you can. If you can’t, control, shroud, or dodge his skills to wait it out.

For Blocks, you have a lot of unblockables in your Staff Marks and Warhorn. If it’s a Guardian who popped his blocks, use your Staff marks, chill and kite him out, or use your Axe 2 and wear out his aegis/focus.

You don’t just stand there and tank a 1v2 1v3, you run around obstacles, slow them down, and try to buy time. If you can’t kill anyone in a 1v2, you don’t need to try. Just hold out until teammates come.

That’s also quite a lot of games played (and you’ve posted many entertaining threads), shows your determination. I think if people piped in to help, and you take something away from the advice, you’ll pull ahead of the 50% winrate you have.

Main problem with thieves is they are the test between what is meta and what is not. If the build can’t deal with a thief than its not worth using. Not the thief’s fault, its just their initiative mechanic offers more damage pressure. Teams with 2 thieves can take advantage of this to quickly kill opponents. Blame anet for wanting unique mechanics when the game was created. Not allowing 2 thieves is just a band-aid fix. What you should be asking is why their mechanic gives them a dps advantage.

Then what was defining meta when nobody was playing thieves in s1 and s2?

Yes, you do. And no, thief did not always define meta. As stated before, in s1-s2 nobody played thief. The meta is defined by conquest and whatever is OP atm. You don’t play zerker LB ranger because you will get instagibbed by about anything not just thieves….

I could argue with you all day about this, but its not worth it. Apart from thief being out of the meta for 6 months out of GW2s 5 year lifespan I am not sure what your counterargument is.

The reason FA ele doesn’t work
1. They are less mobile than thief and cannot fulfill a decapper/roamer role as well
2. Thieves can easily pressure them because of the limitations of scepter as a weapon

The reason Zerker Ranger doesn’t work
1. Thieves can 100-0 them in 3 seconds (side story I rage quit the game for 2 months because I was so utterly outplayed by a thief on a zerker ranger)
2. There is alot of ranged denial
3. It is not good at far fights and is better utilized for defending home/mid node

I’ll just leave it at that. I’ve been playing for 5 years so I am not stupid when it comes to pvp. Let daddy show you how life works. BTW I am daddy.

sPvP Tutoring

Hi guys, I’m Husky. I love GW2 sPvP and have been playing it religiously for about a year now. In this ranked season I’m Platinum 1, will hopefully finish in Platinum 2. My goal is to help an average or slightly below-average player move up a few tiers this season. I’m not looking to build someone from the ground up, I want a mentee who already spends a lot of time in sPvP, and who wants to improve.

I’m offering to teach someone dueling skills, preferably on one particular build but I’m open to teaching more than one. Ideally you’ll focus on mastering one build because that’s the fastest way to get better results. What I’m looking for in a mentee:

  1. Has one character of each profession
  2. Has at least perused all of the meta builds on Metabattle. Knowing the non-meta builds is a plus.
  3. Is currently in Silver 2 or higher. I am willing to duel someone in a lower ranking to see how well you know mechanics.

If you’re playing sPvP then I can give you help. Boop’s advice is technically correct but not actually helpful. I’m NA and I’ll be on around 5:30pm east coast time.

Basically you need to know your matchups perfectly before engaging them, you have high sustain against power builds and low sustain against condi builds. Pick your 1v1s carefully, condi mes is a bad matchup for you.

They do that and we just replaced thief/rev/mesmer. I’ll no longer have to worry about a +1 thief when I’m fighting a dh or rev… i’ll just fly away like Superman Goku

I mean Mesmer Scepter 3 is basically Frieza’s Death Beam so it’s not too ridiculous. They should make a Hercule costume so engis can look the part when using bomb kit.

Yeah there’s a guy in Plat who purposely pulls people into objects (he plays DH) and claims to be constantly throwing for high-ranked players. I guess it makes him feel important. Toxic people like that are the minority but very noticeable. Anyways the best you can do is improve and keep climbing so that eventually, you can objectively say that you’re one of the best. The trash talk only gets to you when you kind of feel like it’s deserved.

i don’t think i’ve faced a bunker rev yet. And i really don’t know much about rev’s in general. How are they surviving?

They’re able to decap and eventually fullcap against a 1v2. 1v3 maybe not..

in 5v5 its harder due to comms so i more focus in team fights and not 1v1

There’s another trait that grants extra adrenaline on critical hits, Furious. That’s in Arms. That’s not baseline though. Feel free to look this stuff up on the wiki.

You get 1 adrenaline every time you hit an enemy. If you use the trait called Cleansing Ire then you also get 1 adrenaline every time you’re struck. Multi-hit skills like Volley or Cyclone Axe give 1 adrenaline per hit, so Cyclone Axe gives 2. Crits aren’t relevant to adrenaline unless you’re wielding an axe and using the Axe Mastery trait.

Separately, the amount of time you spend in berserk isn’t dependent on adrenaline, it’s the same length no matter what.

Kill shot you really should be able to move. And Gunflame could see a buff too, i would love if it removed boons on hit. It wouldnt affect PvE, and in PvP it would be a great team tool.

Gun Flame

  1. Aoe damage
  2. Aoe rupt
  3. 5.5k on crit (roughly)
  4. 1.1k burn with no condi damage
  5. 1500 range
  6. Increased velocity (effectively unkiteable)
  7. Non-obvious animation

While I’d love boon removal too, does Gun Flame really need a buff? Sounds like unnecessary HoT power creep to me.

Good question. When I’ve done it myself, I did absolutely nothing. No chat, no moving and no condis were put on me. I’ll ask a programmer to look at the code and tell me on Monday.

Thanks, problem is i got stuck in one of the pillars at mid in temple. The pillars are fairly small so i kept getting hit from mid point. Anyway couldve relogged and didnt really matter so its fine, just wanted to see if it would work out.

Could you also ask if knockbacks and such also have effect? I guess you ment going over everything but just making sure. Also moving camera, as in left click held down to look around. Im testing some of these myself, will update if i find something out.

Moving camera is fine, boons are fine.

Yeah knockback causes this problem too. I accidentally pushed someone into the Keep on Forest yesterday.

I’m a little hesitant to say that unblockable is good simply because 1. I hate weapon skills that are base unblockable, like Deflecting Shot, and 2. Unblockable is pretty much covered by signet of might. Velocity increase means people can’t kite it at range, so it forces a dodge or reflect. Right now you can just walk sideways and avoid it, that’s pretty sad for such a high-impact skill. I’d prefer that the root stay in place, post-HOT GW2 is oftentimes bursty in unpredictable ways (looking at you Meditrapper), keeping the highly-visible channel allows people the chance to counter it.

Looks like 3 things will interrupt the /stuck action. Moving, using a skill or getting into combat. Getting stuck in a wall close to point, it’s going to be difficult to avoid getting put into combat.

Getting into combat shouldn’t affect this. Currently getting people stuck in walls is used as an exploit, if you hit someone while they’re stuck in a wall then the /stuck command won’t work. My team lost in the AT yesterday because a DH intentionally pulled me into the tower at Kyhlo; if developers aren’t going to fix the collision issue then they can at least make /stuck bulletproof.

Just for a point of reference, I’m Plat 1. I played my way up to here with a marauder rifle axe/shield build. I’m finding that, assuming I start a fight at range, I have a favorable matchup against everyone except thief and guardian.

Anyhow, I think that Killshot is what holds back rifle compared to other weapons. Its animation is obvious, it has a very long cast time, it’s channeled, and its damage isn’t significantly better than weapon skills until you have T3 adrenaline. Gunflame does a bit less damage than Killshot, but is superior in every other way. Frankly I only bother using Killshot to proc Cleansing Ire and Adrenal Healing, otherwise why bother.

In contrast, Eviscerate is just as good as Decapitate, no aoe but does more damage at higher levels. Skull Crack isn’t quite as good as Skull Grinder but still is quite useful. Earthshaker is a bit weaker than Rupturing Smash, but easier to aim (Rupturing Smash has a semicircular target, Earthshaker is circular). Basically other weapons’ burst skills are worth using, whereas rifle’s is not. I’d be happy with either upping the velocity of Killshot or making it unlockable; it needs something more to make it viable and not completely inferior to Gunflame, a skill that has it all. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Its not unbeatable, I faced some of them and eventually people figure out that they can’t really sustain focus fire after blowing through defense CDs like UA, ward rift and crystal hibernation.

It is however a very solid decap comp in 1v1 situation since you get 450 range knockback (240 range AoE) every 3-5s. This number is not just in theory, most bunker rev running ventari in 1v1 will actually attempt knockbacks at that frequency unless they’re using aforementioned CDs against your burst. You also don’t have much ways to kill them unless blowing your CDs as the amount of fragments generated from that explosion is able to heal up to 5k hp or more. Ultimately these mean that the rev can force 1v2 at far etc to relieve teamfight pressure.

Guard or mes can probably prevent decap from them, but other meta builds don’t have enough blocks/evade/stab to avoid being knock out. Other way to counter would be to have thief capping their home if the rev decides to stay that node, though that rev probably have terrible map awareness if it comes to that.

Like I said, 2 revs. Meaning they can control 2 nodes pretty consistently outside of 4-5 man zergs crushing them.

But if they got 2 ventari rev, all you need to do is hold home and mid, dont need to get far. And with a Necro is easy to 2v1 the rev as they can get stab off so you can CC them and burst him down.
Ventari got a really good healing and the CC is annoying but they got the worst damage by far. So its basically a 5v3 as both ventari cant kill anyone.

Not sure if you’re trolling or genuinely don’t understand the build. Even if you do stun the rev, Ventari skills are instacast, they can use their knockback even while stunned. I think a necro and another DPS class could eventually 1v2 a bunker rev but it would take a minute. You’re also assuming a 1v2 would finish before someone plusses the rev which is unrealistic. Bunker revs sitting on mid-home gives the other 3 teammates the ability to float between the two and plus whichever rev is getting overwhelmed, knowing that the one taking a 1v1 or a 1 v2 can hold out for a long time. The goal of Conquest is to hold capture points, not kill people, so your point about bunker revs not killing people isn’t as important as you think.

Anyhow I’m done responding to people who are defending class stacking or who have never actually fought against a bunker rev.
