Hello.
I must have missed something, because I could have sworn there used to be a BLTP forum.
At any rate, I also searched and couldn’t find anything related to this, so I’m sorry if I’m asking a question that’s already been asked a dozen times.
I was wondering if there was any official word on whether or not old BL weapon skins would be reissued, a la the Jade Dragon set, where it was made available again for 1 BL ticket per skin.
I’d very much like to get my hands on a Dreamthistle weapon, but the price is a little prohibitive to be used for an alt at this moment.
Just curious. Thanks!
Agreed. The jump from an apparently hunter-gatherer culture using wildlife as siege engines to the most advanced industrial society on Tyria has always jarred credibility with me. Particularly since Humans, in the same time frame, apparently built a town and a fort.. and not much else.
I am rather sure that the same have happened to civilizations on Earth during 250 YEARS time.
They have not. The Charr were, at best, an iron age society pre-GW2. Basic tools, crude weapons, living in huts and caves.
The GW2 Charr are well beyond an industrial age. That took nearly 2000 years in (real) human history – which wouldn’t be so bad if the other races had advanced similarly, but they haven’t. Not even the Asura who started out with a huge, huge head start technologically.
Plot favoritism. Nothing more.
Ascalon was originally Charr lands, by that reasoning the rightful “King” of Ascalon might be a Charr.
Hello.
Ascalon was originally all the unsettled land north of the Crystal Desert and south of the Charr’s native homeland. When the Gods arrived on Tyria, they tasked the Forgotten to steward all the lands from the Crystal Desert to Orr – including Ascalon.
The Charr advanced south, clashing with the Forgotten until they (the Forgotten) retreated to the Crystal Desert to handle other (unknown) matters.
When the Gods brought humanity to Tyria, they gave them magic and gave them command of all the lands the Forgotten once tended – including Ascalon.
The best argument you have is that Ascalon has always been contested. Personally, I feel that you forfeit the right to call a land “yours” when you throw bodies against a huge wall for a thousand years, wasting countless lives in a futile effort for greed and conquest, only to have to resort to selling out your entire species to a fallen god and its marionnettes in order to breach it.
And then subsequently get beaten back anyway, time and time again anyway.
Charr have been the beneficiaries of a huge amount of plot favoritism. They got to advance from a medieval society worshipping burning effigys to a bunch of industrial athiests in the span of 250 years while humanity was left to stagnate by the writers.
It sickens me to hear things like the ministers in DR arguing about how “The Searing is ancient history,” while Charr get to run around shouting “Remember the Foefire!”
If Ascalon is given to the Charr while humanity is written into passive submission again, I’ll be very disappointed with ArenaNet.

It’s not MY problem that there is a bug, so why am I not being allowed to get MY rewards I worked for? Because some people didn’t get their rewards I have to sit here waiting for anet to figure out how to do it’s job… lets see how long this takes. I’m betting they will fix it in 2016… maybe.
Dear sir or madam:
It has come to our attention that for years, we, society at large, have been asking you to perform tasks or tolerate procedures that may be not targeted directly to you.
Some of these grievous misconducts include:
- Forcing you to wait for other people to climb into the ferris wheel before engaging the ride. We are aware that it is not your fault they couldn’t pre-board, and are inconveniencing you.
- Demanding that you remove your shoes and pass through security at the airport. We recognize that you are most likely not a terrorist, and as such, these procedures are entirely baseless and we’ll be sure to allow all non-terrorist passengers to board immediately without scrutiny.
- Sometimes, you have been made to stand in line at the grocery store. A gross oversight on our part, we will take steps to ensure that you are given priority over all other grocery store patrons so that their menial, unimportant trivialities will no longer delay you.
- We are aware that once, you were made to stand idle at the crosswalk for 15 seconds in order for the light to change. Effective immediately, we have reprogrammed the entire city’s pedestrian grids to change from green, immediately to red upon your arrival at any marked, unmarked or imaginary crosswalk of your choosing. Should you operate a motor vehicle, the inverse will be true. Any pedestrian caught in the street upon your approach will be deemed at fault for any accident arising from their untimely intersection with your commute.
Overall, we hope that these changes will improve your quality of life and allow you to feel the true privilege that is your birthright. We are sorry that any other person was ever allowed to infer that they were of equal import to you when that is so clearly not the case.
Sincerely,
E. N. Titeuld, Esq.

To everyone complaining, may I tell you a story?
I finished my meta in a few days. I worked really hard to finish it ASAP because I wasn’t sure at the time how long it was going to be around. Later, I found out I had two months. Whoops.
So I waited, and I waited.
Patch at the end of May! Oh boy, here it comes~ Oh wait, the vendor isn’t available until June 3rd. Okay, it’s just a few more days.
So I wait until June 3rd.
Content has been temporarily disabled.
Disappointing, but I’m sure it’ll be repaired. So I wait.
I check in before I head to work to June 4th, content is still disabled. Maybe tonight.
While I’m at work, some lunatic in my town walks down a populated area, carrying two rifles and picks a fight with the RCMP (police). He kills three of them, injures two more and gets away.
So right now, there’s a nutter running around my city with rifles, the city is locked down, highways are shut down and nearly every public area is closed indefinitely while they look for him. No buses, the hospitals are heavily restricted, everyone I know is scared and overall, it’s a pretty awful experience.
So I come back after work, and the content is still disabled.
Oh well. It could be worse.
I know that not everyone will understand the humour in making light of a situation like this; but people had seriously ought to be grateful that missing WvW rewards is the pinnacle of their “to complain about” agenda.

I’m experiencing this same problem on my Guardian in Rata Sum.
I’m experiencing this same problem on my Guardian in Rata Sum.
Hello.
Earlier today, I tried to waypoint my Guardian in to Rata Sum. I experienced a very long delay at the loading screen and was eventually disconnected with error code 7:11:3:191:101.
I can no longer log in to my Guardian.
I opened a support ticket, but have not heard back. As it stands now, I cannot play my Guardian at all.
I’ve reset all my hardware and have run the -repair utility. I can log in to my other characters without issue.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Dearest Mr. Gnashblade,
My client (who again, is totally not me) urged that I write you a thankful note for considering his humble request.
Please be assured that a token of his appreciation is en route to your organization and that he wishes nothing but the best for you and your Black Lion Trading Company.
Take care, Mr. Gnashblade.
Sincerely,

Hello, Mr. Gnashblade.
I’m writing on behalf of the interests of a third party. Wishing to remain anonymous, they assure me that they are, quoting, “totally not me, I swear”.
My client has expressed a desire to help your Black Lion Trading Company recuperate from its recent – and terrible – molestation by Kiel’s (who my client “totally didn’t vote for”) Lionguard.
As a sign of solidarity, my client has asked that – if the opportunity presents itself – should the Black Lion Trading Company come across any stores of Molten Mining Picks and / or confiscated, “missing” caches of Consortium Harvesting Sickles, if one or both of these items were to find their way to my client’s estate, they would be very grateful and have indicated that a sizable donation of 2000 gems would almost certainly be warranted in order to repay such generosity.
Certainly, Mr. Gnashblade, my client understands that as a reputable member of Tyria’s commercial infrastructure, it is not within your power to directly influence the open market; but hopes that there may be opportunity for collaboration in the near future.
Sincerely,
John Smith

Like World of Warcraft, I’ll likely be leaving GW2 if it starts to force you to play in multi player guilds to unlock the higher tiers of rewards.
It’s foolish, and gives an unfair advantage to people who spam open recruitment guilds or otherwise have very lax recruitment measures.
I just wanted to stop by to add my commentary.
I used to log in nearly every day to complete the daily. Since its change with the laurel system, I don’t bother. It’s annoying to log in and be asked to complete a different set of tasks every day, even if you get to “choose”.
Especially when some are mandatory PvP or crafting that I’d rather not engage in.
I’d like a return to the original daily system where it could be completed during the course of normal play. Completing the daily was normally a reason for me to log in and run around on an alt for a bit, but now I can’t be bothered to purposefully go out of my way to complete these inane tasks.
If it’s a matter of restricting laurels to the more “dedicated” players, have a laurel daily comprised of the more purposeful tasks and leave us to our mystic coins and karma jugs. I was more than happy with that.
Just my five cents.
Currently bugged on Tarnished Coast NA, January 12, 2013 @ 0015h server time.
Could always disable Commander flags outside of PvP as well, since I can’t imagine any PvE situation that would call for one.
Hello.
Today, I saw a blue icon on my minimap that I hadn’t seen before. Turns out, it was someone who had purchased the Commander’s Compendium and was roaming around the Norn starting area.
I looked through the interface options, but couldn’t find any way to prevent these icons from appearing on the minimap.
I was hoping to suggest this feature. Spending 100g isn’t much of a qualification and I’d rather not be distracted by the baby blue icon whenever I look at my minimap.
If nothing else, it’s going to become a nuisance in a few months when more and more people have the 100g to blow.
Thanks!
There is no option of changing decissions :/
And you’ll still beat up mole people
Yeah – I’d just rather beat them up in order to defend some scholars than help the angry Nornbro who just wants vengeance.
Oh well. I’ll have to wait and see if I can overcome my OCD or if I have to delete her and start over.
Thanks!
Howdy, everyone.
I’m at the personal story junction for the Norn where you have to choose whether to help the Vigil or the Durmand Priory.
I tried to find out some more details on the Vigil’s plan, but accidently accepted their quest. I feel that the Priory’s goal of protecting Scholar's Cleft is a more worthy cause than the Vigil’s, but I wasn’t able to change my choice.
I haven’t progressed any further in to the story yet, so I’m not sure if there’s any way to abandon the quest and do it again (a la GW1) or not. Not even sure if it’s something ArenaNet could help with, sadly.
I don’t want to recreate this character for something so tiny, but I don’t want her story to permanently say she’d rather beat up mole-people than protect the people at Scholar's Cleft.
The general idea in my head was that the child had no family left. I’d suspect they all died doing Norn things.
They probably would have been made fun of, but this is the grandfather/mother of the actual character I’m trying to name – I’m just trying to sort out a reason why they may have a human-themed family name.
The rescued child would return to Norn lands by the time they’re grown – the only reason the Vanguard takes him/her with them is because they’re en route back to Ascalon and leaving a child to freeze to death would be kind of rude – so their children (the GW2 character) are raised in traditional Norn fashion.

Grenth only watches over the souls of the departed. For the most part, necromancy in Guild Wars would be more accurately described as reanimation – not resurrection.
Powerful magi are able to use the flesh and bones of soulless corpses in order to create minions and other critters. They aren’t imbuing these constructs with souls any more than an Asura’s golem.
There are the odd instances of souls (ie: Shiro) taking corporeal form again, but as the poster above mentioned, these are pretty rare.
Howdy, everyone.
I’m not entirely sure if this would be better suited for the “General Discussion” subforum, but given that it concerns my Norn hero’s story, I thought I’d try here first.
I’m a really, really big lore nerd. I have an entire (amateur) novel written for a certain Elven Paladin from another game that covers his story and how he came to where he is.
I’m really excited to be given the chance to do the same for my Guild Wars characters! In fact, I already have a rough outline of how my two main human heroes are linked to their GW1 ancestors; but there’s a problem.
I’d like to create a Norn! Now, I could just create an unrelated Norn hero who stumbles upon my Hall of Monuments – but where’s the fun in that? I’d like there to be some kind of connection – something that links him/her to the past in a meaningful way.
Now, certain elements require a suspension of disbelief (and others are just really cliché!), but here’s what I’ve imagined so far (some minor GW1 spoilers to follow):
- Ebon Vanguard is recalled from EotN, my GW1 hero along with them after the defeat of the Great Destroyer
- On the way home, they find the site of a small skirmish
- Two fallen Norn surrounded by the bodies of their attackers
- Norn child is crying beneath the body of one of their parents, the body pierced with arrows / claw marks / etc.
- The Vanguard rescue the child, but do not have a detail available to take him/her back to their people
Through some circumstance or another, the child would be left in the care of my GW1 hero (perhaps given her experience with the Norn during the events of EotN). Depending on the average Norn lifespan (which I have yet to research), my GW2 Norn would likely be the rescued child’s grand child or great-grand child.
I came to an impass though: I can’t decide what family name to give my GW2 Norn.
My original idea was to have the Vanguard name the rescued child in honour of Captain Langmar (ie: Placeholder ______sdottir); but I’ve been unsuccessful in finding any reference to Langmar’s first name. Perhaps use Langmar as a first name? I don’t know.
Given that the child would be raised by humans, I plan that they would adopt the human custom of passing on the last name to their children, so my GW2 hero would have the same last name, though by then, the way to the Shiverpeaks would be open again and this character would be raised in proper Norn fashion – more or less.
So, tl;dr: I need to figure out a family (last) name for my Norn, preferably something in tribute to Captain Langmar or the Ebon Vanguard. ____sdottir not required, but something Norn-esque preferred.
Don’t worry if you don’t have any suggestions – I’m open to discussion and ideas, too!
It may all sound a little Mary Sue-ish, but these stories are important to me and help me really connect with the game world, so I hope I can create something special from this. Thanks for looking!

Hey.
I know that it’s a strange question, but in trying to flesh out some of the background fluff for my characters, I decided to make Captain Langmar an (indirectly) important character in one of the family’s backgrounds.
then I realized that nobody even knows her first name. I don’t remember seeing it in GW1 during EotN, WiK or even in pre-Searing.
I know I could technically just make one up, but it thought I’d check and see if maybe whoever dreamed her up at A.net had a first name imagined up for her as well.
Thanks!
