I logged in this week to poke around a bit and maybe decide to buy myself an expansion, and lo and behold I find my decorative molten jetpack’s price has crashed because there’s a new random box that is dumping them on the market.
Normally that would be a buyer beware sort of deal, but I’m pretty sure we were told explicitly that this wasn’t going to happen.
To be clear, I always thought having exclusive content like that was a bad idea. But given that I remember getting a specific statement saying they weren’t going to start dropping again, it seemed the safest asset to keep around to avoid keeping gold and watching it devalue due to inflation over time.
It’s particularly galling that the new drops aren’t coming from a reward for content or the return of Season 1, but instead from RNG boxes. It would have been a little easier to stomach watching my net worth drop 80% overnight if it didn’t feel quite so much like ArenaNet just cashing in to my detriment.
What gives?
I think something important to remember is that at the time of the statement Colin was the game director. Since then he has left and Mo took over and now Z is the GD. With a change in management often comes a change in policy. While I have no idea if it was Mo or Z that made the decision to bring them back it is clear that whichever one made that choice did not agree with Colin’s stance.
Ultimately the decision Colin made comes off as more of a personal choice than a business one. I see it as Colin wanted people to have some type of exclusive item while the different GD wanted to give players a chance to have these items even though they weren’t here to play the game at the time.
The important thing to remember here is that the role of GD often involves making personal choices and not business ones for their game. Sometimes they make a firm stance on something but can change their mind later down the road depending on factors like player feedback and/or change in management. A great example of this is a game called Overwatch. It’s a class based and team based PvP shooter. The GD for that,l game made a firm stance early on that they would not add a mode like free for all or deathmatch because he believed that those modes did not hold true to his vision for the game. Deathmatch was a very popular request and very recently they added it to the game stating that it was something the community has been asking for.
The role of GD means they have to make decisions that make the players happy and sometimes what makes the players happy is something that the GD may not of agreed with at the time. That’s when they are faced with the delimea of “should I stay with what I think the game should be or should I make a change the community has been asking for even though it does not fit my vision.”
Dungeons are dead content and have been spiritually replaced by fractals. They are still there if you want to do them. Since you said you don’t want to do legendaries and PvP. There are also a bunch of map metas you can do. There is dry top, silverwaste, all 4 of the Hot maps, and all 6 of the LS3 maps. There is also a ton of achievements that you can work on. I feel like I’m missing something but I can’t remember what it is.
I’ve enjoyed all the GW1 campaigns and expansion and I’ve enjoyed GW2 and HoT. Judging from my past experiences with anet I have full confidence I’m going to enjoy PoF as well. Plus I’m really looking forward to the firebrand. I enjoyed the elite tomes for guardian and I was sad to see them get removed. Now that they are bringing them back I can’t wait to play the firebrand.
PoF is a content expansion, HoT was a mechanic expansion. This means that HoT introduced new ideas and new ways to expand the game that would be used in future expansions, while PoF uses those new mechanics to give us more content. This means that they are giving us more things that already existed in HoT, instead of brand new. New elite specs, new mastery points, a new GH and so on
Raids and fractals are coming, that’s been confirmed on the forums, but they didn’t announce those because apparently, they are not part of the expansion but part of the living world, which has a separate release schedule.
THIS.
Content expansion, with no dungeons or competitive content whatsoever… I think there is less in PoF, therefore the price tag.
New dungeons are not coming to GW2. It’s something anet has made pretty clear with the shift in focus for 5 man content to fractals.
Fractals, WvW, and PvP updates are not tied to expansions. The price change was made to appeal to the people that were complaining about the price tag for HoT. They gave people the “unbundled” option they asked for. That is why when you look at the price options there is one for just PoF and one that includes PoF with HoT.
Why not just buy the game from the client…??
Seems the safest way…Cause people are trying to save some money. This is understandable – they just don’t understand how the resellers can end up with some bad keys. And of course only a small number of the keys are bad, so a bunch of people are like “mine was fine”. I personally wouldn’t speak up for a company that had sold bad keys in the past. If someone purchased a key because I and other people spoke up for the company and then that person got their account banned, I would feel terrible.
Sometimes I get my car fixed at a third party repair shop. They usually do a good job. The dealership has free coffee, but holy cow those prices.
And sometimes those third party repair shops could be a chop shop and now your car is totaled and have to spend time in the hospital. Sites like this are a risk. Sometimes you get by with no trouble and sometimes you get banned.
For players eager to suffer through difficult fights at every step there is still HoT and always will be. HoT will remain and for anyone enjoying those maps it remains available.
However, until PoF is released, there is no content for players who finsihed core game and find HoT maps annoying and the monsters too difficult. They just quit. Let’s hope PoF will not be HoT 2.0, providing game only for those who already have HoT maps to play in. It should be for those players who do not go for HoT maps at all.
No one is asking for that and HoT is not like that. HoT just punishes you more for ignoring fight mechanics which the game should be doing. In core Tyria you can just ignore moving out of red circles from normal enemies because it really doesn’t do much and at worst would be a minor inconvenience. In HoT they finally made it so if you choose to ignore those red circles you get punished for it. I did not feel this need to leave red circles in the PoF demo which concerns me because it feels as if anet is taking three steps back and is going back to the “stand in one spot and spam 1 until everything is dead” playstyle that was abundant in the core maps.
Also, the comment of just go back to HoT well if you want fights where you can stand in one spot and spam 1 the core maps are still there and will always be there for you to return to.
One of the big mistakes they made with HoT was listening to the beta players complaining about how easy the mobs were and thus buffing them all for the release. Beta players are a minority and tend to be from the harder-core end of the player spectrum. Open-world needs to cater mostly for average players: no elite spec, probably a mix of exotic and ascended armour, less than optimum build etc.
The difficulty change was most definitely not a mistake. It was a much needed change. There was a reason why the difficulty was slowly building up in LW2. The reason for the complaints was because there were people who went from standing in one spot and never moving until the enemy is dead to now you actually have to avoid the giant red markers on the ground.
I do hope they up the difficulty. HoT mobs keep me active in the fight and I feel that is a better challenge to them. The ones in PoF feel closer to core Tyria difficulty. I do hope anet is not going back to the auto attack afk that plagued the game for years.
Still not able to login at all. Game continues to crash before I reach the character select screen. I still can not find a workaround to this issue. Has anyone had any luck with solving this issue?
the crystal desert doesn’t just change that drastic in 250 years, mountains and rivers don’t just get there because of a bit of water shift.
Anet doe that with every single thing in GW2, they remove entire mountains because it doesn’t fit in their map design, drastically changing a map beyond reason.just think, the first thing that already annoyed me is the shift of northern kryta, all of a sudden it’s allot flatter and the ascalon settlement is on a hill. (it’s suppose to be equal to the rest of the area)
Again, it’s not just a change by moving a river. 6 elder dragons rose from their slumber. If just one of these dragons can raise an entire city from the ocean floor I’m pretty sure another dragon can raise a few mountains.
I think this might be an American problem. For people from other continents, 250 years is not that a long time, certainly not enough to completely change a place to the point it’s not recognizable anymore. Take a look at London’s maps from the 1700s.. ok it’s different, but there is no doubt it’s London: London bridge, Covent Garden, St’ Paul’s, the Tower of London are all there. https://laurenceworms.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/rocque-lettered.jpg
In all fairness, London never had 6 Elder Dragons raise from centuries long sleep that caused drastic environmental changes along with an ancient undead evil guy that has diverted an entire river to run through a new area which would cause people to relocate. After all, if you are in a desert and plan to make a living there you might want to make sure you have an easy access to water.
I went in with the given set up, didn’t bother to change a thing about the build, the necro. It’s a terrible build, but I made it through without dying. It was a very tedious story and having to put out all the fires just dragged it along.
At least there wasn’t quite so much NPC talking this time, so that’s a plus.
Fights felt OK, as long as you tackle one group at a time.
This. I went in with the default spec, armor, and weapons and had no trouble.
I agree with the OP. I mean I was looking at pictures of Manhattan from 250 years ago and they look nothing like what we have now. I mean come on anet. What the heck.
I like it honestly. Just can just salvage them and they stack so it doesn’t fill up your bags. I know people keep, saying “oh but it could have rare/exotic/pre” but in,all honesty the likelihood of these things being anything meaningful is slim to none.
I can already see the next complaint though. Someone is going to complain that they id 10 stacks of gear and got nothing but greens and blues.
Hello,
Every time I try to log in the game crashes. This happens when I try to start the game up. I never make it to the character select screen. It always crashes before I get to that point. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of a work around to fix this? I was able to log in earlier and play some of the demo but after an update, I can no longer login.
I’m only interested in testing the elite specs.
Well, I am! So, did I get this right? We won’t get to test the elite specs this weekend??
Next weekend is Elite Specs demo. PvP and WvW,
That makes this weekend’s demo pretty useless though, no?
Not really because you still have the new mount, map, story instance, and events associated with this new map as well to play around with.
At the end of PoF we discover that Mordremoth discovered how to use waypoints and is now back.
Yea I don’t get this whole “Anet forgot about casuals” thing. I think people want the game to return back to when you could just auto-attack and faceroll everything with no challenge at all. I’m a casual player. I only play a few hours out of the week and I have no trouble getting around HoT zones and have completed the HoT story for several of my toons.
Patches happen. Some builds will be stronger some will be weaker with every patch. This won’t be the last patch where some other spec comes out being super strong while others get weaker. Welcome to the world of online gaming.
I like it. My only complaint would be how you get mastery points. Some were really easy to get while others were pretty difficult. Adventures are a great example of this. You had easy ones like “On Wings of Gold” or “Drone Race” where you could get gold on your first try without really knowing what needs to be done. Then you have something like the “Shooting Gallery” that you pretty much needed to memorize the spawn locations of each dummy and have decent aim to go with it if you wanted to get gold.
This thread shows the pain that devs have to go through.
Create an expansion and charges one price for the expansion+core where most others charge full price for both. People complain. The devs listened to the feedback and gave an option to buy all expansions+core for a single price or buy just the expansion for a cheaper price. People still complain.
Has anet announced anything about this?
Truth is in zergs it’s already hard to see. But with tons of mounts out everything is just going to be one massive massive blur. Knowing anet as well we will get flashy mounts in the gem store. The game will become extremely unplayable as you will not be able to see.
Even going to a banker or merchant in busy areas you will not be able to see anything.
I am personally a big mount fan but the crazy amount on screen is going to be insane.
Should of just giving us capes that give us special abilities
Zergs currently already have so much clutter going on that it’s hard to tell what’s happening. Adding mounts won’t really change anything about that. Plus I highly doubt any of the can be used while in combat so you’ll only have to worry about the 10,000 skill effects that are cluttering your screen.
As for blocking NPCs I don’t really understand this issue. Maybe if this was wow where I need to actually click the NPC to interact with them it could be an issue but all you have to do is get near them and hit the interact key. Doesn’t matter if you can’t see them because you can still interact with them.

I was wondering what happened to dungeons?? seems like the new expansion and the old one never brought new dungeons in the game, will we see new dungeons in the upcoming expansion?? if no why not?? i honestly loved the dungeons from the core game and think it will be amazing to have them in the new areas in the expansion along with the new maps…
Anet stopped with dungeons years ago. They have stated a few times that their new focus for 5 man pve content is fractals. It has been that way for a very long time and they show no signs of changing directions since fractals are getting a steady flow of content. Honestly, there is no reason to hold onto some false idea that dungeons are going to make a comeback. If anything, they should just scrap dungeons from the world and find a way to incorporate them into fractals. That will probably be more work than what it’s worth which is why I’m guessing they haven’t bothered to change something about them.
Am I the only one that finds the possible addition of mounts to be concerning? (Okay, this is probably a rhetorical question.) I feel like homogenization is going to be the thing that kills GW2 by trying to appeal to players of other MMO’s. By trying to appeal to everyone you attract few to no people.
I mean, if I want mounts (I don’t) I’ll go play WoW or BDO. If I want open world PvP (I don’t) I’ll play LOTRO. There’s already a market for those things.
It’s why, for example, games trying to capitalize on the Call of Duty craze/demographic don’t do well or fail when they try to copy CoD and/or appeal to the people who play CoD. There’s already a game/series that does that. It’s called CoD and they’re going to go to that and stay with it rather than try something that’s trying to steal CoD’s thunder. :\
I think mounts could be a good addition to the game but I think it should mimic GW1. They had a map specific mount that came with its own skills and I think something like that would be a pretty cool addition. Mounts don’t always have to be the same thing in every game. I think this can be a great chance for Anet to try something different from what’s on the market right now.
Given you can change your account name by contacting support for free. That seems like a total scam to get people to buy gems that don’t know any better.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-April-1-2017/
We have added a Gem Store item that will allow you to change your account name for the low, low price of 2,000 gems. There is no limit on the number of purchases.
You think that is a ripoff? Let me tell you what an actual ripoff is. Logged in to try the new Warrior updates and guess what. The third weapon can only be equipped in the chest slot and not the head slot. Literally unplayable.
Eh. It’s not all that great. Needs more Quaggans. 2/10

If only we had some way of previewing what possible rewards we can earn. Like, being able to right click the Black Lion chest and select a preview option in which a new menu would open up that contains a list of items we can get. Preferably in a Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Super Rare category so we know how likely we are to get a certain item.
It’s because of the time. Go there a little later in the day when people are off from work/school and it will be easier to get enough people to do the meta. I got T4 last night with no problem.
Please change it. The current breastplate looks terrible. Female charrs and asuras just don’t look right with the defined breast plate. It’s like looking at a charr with a human chest.
Oh I know people need to calm down and give their criticism without resorting to insults. That doesn’t help anyone and just hurts people. It’s easy to go down that route though when you are anonymous on the internet. People need to be reminded that these are real people we are dealing with. Was just pointing out why I think people seem extra angry today.
I mean, I’m really angry about the untradeable thing myself but I’m trying my best to stay as civil as possible despite that. With this SW thing try to figure things out first before jumping to conclusions and calling it a nerf. Now we’ve already been told it’s not intended and people can calm down a bit.
Except it really shouldn’t be a “try” thing. People just need to be more civilized. Stating reasons why you think others, or yourself depending on the situation, are angry is no reason to behave like how some people in this thread and the untradeable weapon skins thread are/were behaving. It’s childish and immature.
No one here doesn’t understand that we are humans, that we make mistakes, and that sometimes we receive bad news that makes us angry. What is not ok is to use that as a means to lash out at others in the ways being shown in these two threads. I know for a fact if I were to walk into work tomorrow with the same attitude that is being displayed on the forums, I would just go ahead and pack up my stuff because my boss would fire me on the spot for acting like a child on a temper tantrum.
Here is a guide for soloable HPs. Combined with HPs from central Tyria, these should be more than enough to unlock your elite spec. Additionally, as far as I’ve seen people often help others with HPs, as long as they’re not too hard to reach.
The current cost is fine IMO.
honestly as a returning wvw player, the fact that i have to do anything to unlock something i just payed 50$ for is incredibly frustrating
last time i played the game, you didnt have to jump through hoops to unlock basic class functions, and now you have to grind and play around on some screwy pve map with jump pads and gliders
i’ll take a look at this link tho, maybe itll make the process suck less. i appreciate that people are trying to be helpful but holy geez i dont feel like doing any of this nonsense
Honestly all expansions have something in them that you have to do something to unlock. It’s not new. Besides, you do not have to jump through any hoops to unlock the basic class functions. Once you hit 80 you have all your basic class functions unlocked. Elite specs are not basic class functions. That’s why they are called Elite Specializations. What they actually do is change you basic class functions. Plus with you only needing 250 HPs to unlock, a majority of which you can do in core tyria to the point you only need like 5 or 6 HoT HPs, the cost is pretty minimum for a class progression.
I’ve fallen in love with Guild Wars 2 since beta.
I played it like hell when it was released.Unfortunately, most of my friends quit, as they didn’t find end game content interesting for them. So I quit as well after some point. I wasn’t happy with playing alone.
I did a second shot later on. But than, I was struck with how casual the game became. First thing I’ve done after return, was the last instance to kill Zhaitan.
I was in shock with how boring and unsatisfying it became…
I uninstalled it again. Wasn’t interested in the game aimed for difficulty and complexity od 12 year old kids.Few months passed… Yesterday I was in the cinema to see WarCraft movie. With the ticket, I got a coupon for WoW. I reactivated my account, and played it today for one hour. It was such a disgrace, that I uninstalling it right now. They made it Diablo-style when You can randomly press any buttons, and You will still finish the instance without a problem…
So I made another look on Heart of Thorns.
Is it worth to buy it for me, if I look for some challenging experience like original instances of Guild Wars 2 or it’s going the same direction like all the other titles…?
Thanks for replies!
Some of the challenge has returned. It’s not back to the “dodge-or-die” style it was during the original gw2 beta but it’s not a “stand in one spot and AA everything to death” style either.
I know some people say that certain classes are easier to take through the jungle but I don’t see. I’ve ran through the jungle with all professions and if you know what you’re doing it’s not too bad. The biggest thing you have to keep an eye out for is the white text beneath the mobs health. That text will tell you everything you need to know about the fight. For example, there is this one frog enemy(I think called shadowleapers). The text will tell you the evade range attacks so if you are going full range and no melee you will have a hard time with them.
Another thing is be ready with some CC. With breakbars introduced there are quite a few bosses/strong enemies that can either be a walk in the park or a hellish nightmare if you don’t break them. A good example of this are the legendary wyvern fights scattered throughout the jungle. If you don’t break them before they fly off the fight becomes longer and a lot harder because they will spew out these trails of fire that last for a long time and makes it harder to move around/dodge other attacks.
So far I’ve been under the impression that items on “sale” on the Gem Store are lower than normal price, for a specific time (24 hours for example). Now it says there are several items on “sale” with a timer (“Sale Ending Soon!”) but as far as I can tell they’re all still original price..
Am I missing something? Are they being removed after the timer runs out? Is the displayed price wrong? The items in queston:
http://i.imgur.com/xH7Sbvf.png
For the English language “on sale” can mean “you can buy this item” or “this item is at a reduced cost”. Both are right and to determine which is being used you have to look at the context. Sunglasses that have been unavailable that you are now able to purchase would mean they are on sale.
The problem: GW2’s end game is lackluster at best and really provides no meaningful gameplay.
Why? The whole premise of the leveling system is flawed.
GW2 needs to get rid of scaled zones. It was a nice idea, but it is a terrible implementation. The zones should not scale users to the zones level. The rewards from monster drops (especially world boss tour drops) should be tweaked so that they drop zone-level appropriate items. With an emphasis on hero level to zone matching, the drops could be much more rewarding (i.e.: you have Exotic Level 10 weapons that drop from bosses in newbie zones). Make the scale of drops for all levels much greater.
Instead, the leveling process should be a long, drawn out experience that is rewarding in itself. Users should work hard to get from level to level, but each level should have great things available. With the current system, most people just can’t wait to buy the best possible blue/green gear for their current level and move on. With a different approach, we could have valuable items at all range of levels, 1-80, instead of the everything just falling into level 80 equipment.
With a rescaling of this proportion, I think it would vastly improve the GW2 experience. The game feels misguided in its current state. I played GW1 since 2005 and I’ve been hoping GW2 would get better as it goes along… it seems that the updates just make it worse. Every change is meant to water the game down for new players and provide just enough sustaining users so arena.net can pay the electric bill next month.
This has nothing to do with endgame. You just talk about adjusting the path on how to get to 80. Might want to re-word the title of the thread if that’s the case.
GW2 needs to get rid of scaled zones.
I say if you’re considering level scaling then just don’t have levels at all since they then serve no good purpose. Instead everything should scale up to 80 but have its level hidden leaving crafting tiers for rarities and stat sets instead of levels. The entire game needs a reboot from the ground up if it’s going to be competitive against today’s top offerings.
For $60 what can a customer have-
Overwatch:
- Excellent framerate and smooth, responsive graphics
- No input lag
- Matches tend to be quick and even a practice mode where you team with real people against AI
-Smooth coding
-Modern API
-Excellent class balance and no class has far more options on very short cooldowns or passive procs compared to other champions
-Quick and convenient champion swapping.Guild Wars 2:
-Direct X9
-Dated engine
-Lots of clipping
-Download speeds in the kb/s common for many
-Bad input lag at times
-Stuck bugs
-Entire periods where many classes are outside the meta
-Glaringly poor class balance. To illustrate the point team with a friend, both of you roll daredevils and record how many times someone asked one of you to switch, now do the same for scrapper. In a point holding game of course something that can 2v1 for absurd periods of time with a reflect always off cooldown somehow and stopping their resets having notoriously tiny windows is welcomed in many teams. That isn’t even mentioning gyros that can stomp, meaning the scrapper himself doesn’t need to commit to it but can simply leave it there and if a scrapper gets rezzed he has a nasty habit of resetting as if he weren’t downed. Then you have necros who can condi bomb and you can see where this is going.
-Very inconvenient and even detrimental to log out and swap classes as needed.
Overwatch is nothing like GW2. Overwatch is a fast paced PvP style objective based matches. GW2 is an MMO. It’s like saying GW2 needs to be more like CoD in order to stay competitive.
The problem sounds like too many players rushed to the same event. They scale intensely for the reason the map needs to split up and fight all the bosses at once. If the boss you’re fighting takes more than 10 minutes, you probably have too many people there or ignoring the mechanics.
I would assume the reason is for the same reason you can loot noxious pods, caches, and cargos on multiple toons. Doesn’t really seem exploitable and if they were to “fix” those chest then they would need to “fix” all the other loot chest so that they work the same.
Those aren’t NEARLY as concentrated nor as valuable. Tarir you just open 5 chests, get 5 rares + a chance at high value mats. They’re near each other and there’s no veteran/champ mobs killing you and slowing you down. Plus the Meta takes very little time.
Close, but no cigar.
I will agree with the not as concentrated part but not the valuable part.

As far as discovering them I’m not sure how that is done. The wiki just says it’s bought from craftsmen and I’m not sure what i did to unlock them but I can buy the recipe from there. Maybe check out the craftsmen and see? It might just be an automatic unlock for peeps with HoT.
It is actually. In the AMA they stated that they are working on the problem but it’s not as simple as flipping a switch or adjusting a few lines of code. In fact, the megaserver system is currently being reworked and has been for several months.
In the meantime, you can just use taxis in the LFG sections. Thanks to squads being able to post spots getting meta maps are much easier now.
I’m sorry but it’s been well over 6 months since they issued a statement indicating that there were ‘problems’ with Mega servers – they managed to produce an expansion in around the same time so any competent set of dev’s; or more importantly management, would have prioritized fixing a system that underpins ensuring that HOT maps are playable.
Taxi’s are not the solution – Taxi maps only tend to be advertised towards the end of the meta cycle and so fill very quickly and it’s pot luck as to whether you get ‘map full’ or not. When maps are advertised earlier and you join X in whatever map it is, most of the time I find that the squad I have joined is spread out over god knows how many map instances and as there is no way of identifying who is in what map, more frustration ensues.
Just look at this sub forum, on this page alone there are the following threads:
’Dragon’s Stand map dead’ – Mega server issue
‘full meta map’ – Mega server making too many empty maps issue
‘Unplayable Solo’ – Mega server issue – If every map was full, the maps would be playable.
‘L2P – I did HOT Why can’t you?’ – Discussion of various issues but mainly the un-playability of HOT maps due to empty maps.A combined total of over 40,000 views and nearly 1,000 replies and ALL of them are indirectly related to the fact that Megaservers are not working and need fixing as a matter of absolute priority.
I never said taxi’s are the solution. It’s just a band aid.

I recommend checking out this link and scrolling to the bottom under the server section. There are a few links to where devs are talking about megaservers. I summarized it a bit by saying it’s a difficult fix and to use taxi’s in the meantime, but what I said is echoed in the AMA but in more detail.
Not sure on the exact cost but you can make the gear on any armor/weapon crafter.

on the forums when i go to GW2.com then to Game>Proffessions i do not see Revenant as a class to choose from. Is this perhaps an oversight?
Edit: Sorry I just noticed you were talking about the gw2 home page, not the wiki. It’s actually here.

HoT has it’s own section and since the rev is part of HoT it was placed in the HoT version.

In an AMA they said that elite specs are things that come with expansions. I was sad. No new ones ’til the next expack.
Thats false, they said the exact OPPOSITE. They said elite specs are something that doesnt necessarily require an expansion to be released, and that we could see them come along with living story releases
Actually, your statement is outdated. At first, it was stated that elite specs were not expansion only stuff but, I believe in the AMA, it was stated that they are now expansion only content.

Just don’t do the jumping puzzle daily? For today your other options are HoT vista, Curshed Shore events, and ascalon forager. You only need 3 and those 3 are not jumping puzzles. If you don’t want to do it fine but the jumping puzzle daily is not required to get the daily meta reward.
This is all I could find on it.

Adventures are now unlocked more often. They have more forgiving time limits and allow players to more easily reach bronze, silver, and gold completion. They also give more experience for reaching those completion tiers.
Unlocking and Accessing Adventures
The Tendril Torchers and Salvage Pit adventures in Verdant Brink have both been altered to stay unlocked during the entire daytime period.
The Shooting Gallery adventure in Verdant Brink has been altered to be unlocked during most of the day, except when the following events move through the space:
The “Defend the Pact encampment against hylek attacks” event
The “Salvage scrap from the crashed Pact airship for Bongo to reinforce the outpost” event
The “Help Faren train to be a swordsmaster” event
All adventures in Auric Basin will now remain unlocked except during the “Battle in Tarir” meta-event.
The Beetle Feast and Scrap Rifle Field Test adventures in Tangled Depths will now remain available when the chak gerent isn’t present.
Time Limits
Bugs in the Branches: Added 5 seconds to the time limit.
Shooting Gallery: Added 30 seconds to the time limit.
Fallen Masks: Added 15 seconds to the time limit.
On Wings of Gold: Added an updraft near Northgate to make it easier to reach the adventure.
A Fungus Among Us: Changed the time required to achieve a gold ranking to 1 minute and 25 seconds.
The Floor Is Lava?: Added 15 seconds to the time limit.
Haywire Punch-o-Matic Battle: Added 5 seconds to the time limit. Also added a world-map marker in Tangled Depths.
Sanctum Scramble: Changed the time required to achieve a gold ranking to 2 minutes and 35 seconds.
Scrap Rifle Field Test: Added a world-map marker in Tangled Depths.
Rewards
Adventures now give increased experience in their daily bronze, silver, and gold rewards. The TL;DR of it? Nope.
The spring patch made them more available (a good thing!) and slightly, sort of, loosened some of the scores needs to reach reward tiers.
TLDR of it, yea the requirements were changed.
The wiki has not been updated but if you go into the collections tab for the e-spec weapons all the adventures now require bronze.
Actually, I hope they leave him where he is. (…)
I like the idea of keeping his story as an open question. Anet has done that with quite a few stories ever since GW1. It makes the story feel more “natural”. There are plenty of mysteries in the real world that we may never know the answer too. I like that kind of story telling better than everything having a beginning and end.
That’s just my opinion though.I hope they won’t! Think about it! Arenanet then would be like “thanks that you bought the HoT expansion incomplete, now here’s our huge middle finger and hey! buy our next expansion!”. Some people would gone mad in the same style like some of you went when they told they push Legendaries projects away for a while.
Actually – It wouldn’t be natural due the fact they had Malyck’s story around when creating HoT, and there’s still hidden area west from Dragon’s Stand or other little covered regions. So nope here, plus some of people don’t like such kind of
story (not)-telling
Except the expansion is complete. The expansion was not a “here’s a bunch of lore about sylvari” thing. It’s focus was Mordy. Mordy awakened, destroyed the pact, kidnapped the majority of DE, and then the remaining pact members had trust issues with the sylvari because they weren’t sure when or if they would turn. I could understand if HoT was sold as “we are going to fill all the story holes about sylvari” but it wasn’t.
As for the natural comment it was about how there are multiple(not just Malyck) open ended stories in the GW world. Take for example Lazarus the Dire. Players have been asking about this guy since gw1 and even now there is no promise that we are going to get a close to that story. the third raid wing MIGHT shed some light on this but there is no guarantee that the white mantle forces in there are working directly for Lazarus or if they are alone and trying to recreate the rituals of old to bring the mursaat back. The natural comment is about how the open ended stories in the GW world sort of mirror real world stories that we may never know the answer to. Look at Amelia Earhart. No one is exactly sure what happened to her, although there is a fair bit of speculation, and we may never know what happened to her. That’s what I mean by natural. There are some questions in GW they may never get answered.
Now if you don’t like that kind of story telling then that’s your opinion. Clearly the people at Anet like it because they’ve been doing it for years and it’s fair to guess that they will continue to do so.
Give us Malyck back! :c
I don’t want Canach I want Malyck! :c I don’t want Rata Novus and all the new (ekhm ‘inquest’) lore untill you explain what happened to our beloved Maly-bro sylvari and fill holes in the lore you did in HoT. I pre-paid once I heard about Heart of Thorns, excited about new lore and meeting him again but you listened to moaners in this forum and it’s the least favourite story in Guild Wars2 ever. It’s not Game of Thrones, it’s Guild Wars2 :c Even Mordremoth wasn’t a dragon but big fat lizard hippie pokemon.
Make him (MALYCK!) back! And the new Tree! Is it going to be Pale? Is it going to be male? I don’t think like I am going to buy next expansion pack in pre-paid style like I did with HoT. Next time I’ll wait and check all the things you provide…
Okay maybe that was so harsh, I’ll pre-paid if I see Malyck ;_;And I don’t care about possible haters comments here! You killed Trehearne and made Caithe traitor! Your words doesn’t matter
#sylvari #life #matters #more
Actually, I hope they leave him where he is. In all honesty, Malyck is just some side character that you only met if you were to A) pick sylvari and B ) pick the right story options. For instance, I have two sylvari characters and I do not remember meeting Malyck on the first one.

That’s just my opinion though.
The problem, though is that the arguments in opposition to having them are just much weaker than the arguments in favor of having them. I’d like to understand why there’s an opposition.
They could easily just make them not usable in certain areas, like cities and major events.
Then let me provide you with my own argument. Mounts are just not needed. There are plenty of WPs located in the world and with the 19th patch making more HoT WPs being uncontested gives you more point ports. Plus almost all classes now are capable of maintaining a permanent speed increase so moving between WPs is super easy and fast.
The opposition is that mounts with a speed boost are not needed and we’ve already seen that people don’t want cosmetic mounts or else Anet would of continued making those instead of leaving it at the 3 we have now.
Lets also not forget that there could be some technical limitations that we can’t see that could be preventing this from happening.
Now for the arguments being weak, well my friend, that is subjective. You see the arguments as weak because you want mounts.
All together now…Please hold the beat….
And yet posting a gif of Jim Carry beating up an animatronic cow from the movie Me, Myself, and Irene is offensive lol. I guess that’s what I get for trying to shake things up from the typical dead horse gifs.
