No thanks—the core game has pretty much been destroyed due to misguided leadership. No need to rub more salt in the wounds.
More variety is always good my friend, fantasy sci-fi combo always was cool concept in movies and other games, as someone mentioned steampunk is actually a proper combination of those two.
Maybe something like the steampunk technomagic of the tabletop wargame/RPG Warmachine? There’s a lot of cool magic-meets-medieval-and-machines concepts on the battlefields of the Iron Kingdoms.
And, oh, maybe ANet can start making a Golemancer Character Class, make Golems really weaponized. Like Warjacks.
I miss my Warcaster
Theres actually few steampunk armors here and there, i actually start playing Fallout 4 yesterday and omg how much i would love to get something like a Power armor outfit for my engineer, it is very steampunk-ish
Something like…this?
YES something like this, but a bit more bulkier and with gear that is one set that matches not mix and match. good job btw
I will admit I’ve imagined myself dressed as Neo from the Matrix. That would be a neat outfit to have in the game. And even better if the dodge animations were changed to look like that cart-wheel type dodging they did in the movie. And if enemy projectiles had the bullet-time ripples behind them….
lol thats actually so cool, how come didnt think of it my self :P
I mean the immersion is long gone from the game, we have wings and other non immersive stuff, and in a game were technology is present (golems, guns, gyros etc.) i think it seriously lacks some good sci-fi skins/outfits. I would totally pay for a MassEffect-like/Stormtrooper-like etc. outfit on the gems store!!!!
Love them. Love them very much.
That pic makes my inner Greek proud. On a serious note, sneak gyro is good for WvW PvP situations, and even pve sometimes, function is cool concept, but execution is bad, the rest are just useless as of now.
I just saw the requirements, some of them rely way way to much on rng like some exotic drops from world bosses, ive been playing the game for 2 years and i barely got 1-2 exotics from world bosses, i just gave up before even i try
I can assert that the RNG isn’t as bad as it seems. I ran with a fellow scrapper guildie since HoT launch and we both nabbed the Chak part in Tangled Depths within a few minutes of meeting the bugs for the first time, and we both got the Mark II golem part when we did the boss on the first go.
Either we are both very lucky or it really isn’t bad.
No, the RNG is fairly reasonable. I’ve been collecting drops for this, other specialization weapons, and Mistward armor pieces for my revenant, and I don’t think I’ve ever had to do more than 20-30 kills of an enemy type before it dropped the thing I wanted, and several I’ve gotten in the first dozen or so.
Hard part are the mastery-locked gear, most of the required masteries for some of the pieces are near or at the end of the Mastery chain.
I killed loads of Chakk, still didnt get it, ill try the golem few more times just in case my drops were bugged or something
Im the type of player that plays everything in a game, not just what i like themost, PvE has become THE best part of gw2 with hots, pvp is just at its peak, wvw though as boring as alway, people run the same zerg strats, same builds same stack and runs tactics, it gets more repetitive than anything else in the game.
EDIT: btw i posted that on the wrong forum by mistake

Everyone in my 250 man guild is loving HoT and theyre all spread out over the hot maps.
Go read Dulfy’s Hero point guide and stop crying. There’s nothing wrong with the hot maps, you’re probably just running around the berserker meta gear thinking it will do well. Well try something else. I’m using zerker weapon/trinkets and Soldier armour and it’s a whole lot more fun than zerker. Take more defensive abilities and you’re set. Get some stability for the knockdowns and there you go, the content is no longer hard. The veterans are no longer hard. Believe it or not, killing the mobs that are standing in your way of events give more XP than the event itself.People just have this silly mentality of wanting to run from event to event without having to fight anything. People cry for a living world, then cry when the world is living. Game Dev’s can’t win.
PS: Orr was a bigger pain in the backside than HoT areas, they still are. All those chill, cripple and pulls…
did you even read what i said? In case some people didnt get it, im talking about the technical side, that there are way too many overflows created and as a result people get spread out too much.
I just saw the requirements, some of them rely way way to much on rng like some exotic drops from world bosses, ive been playing the game for 2 years and i barely got 1-2 exotics from world bosses, i just gave up before even i try
I always have to taxi from overflow to overflow to actually find a map with more than 5 players and do the meta events. There must be something wrong with the megaservers. Anyone else?
tl:dr, its ok to have progression like masteries that make you work for em, as long as they dont lock content behind them, especially when its story content, which many of us just wanna go though it fast because makes the experience better.
yeah its kinda boring, not worse than any other MMO though, im used to grind in MMOs and since gw2 combat is good, its more fun, but grind is grind, it WILL get boring at times
I found the healing gyro pretty useful in some occasions, but it still cant compare with the Healing Turret, Sneak Gyro can be good at WvW in some occasions too, but beyond that the rest are so underwhelming that it would be a waste using that utility slot for them instead of a Kit or Elixir.
Does anyone have good PvE build for gyros yet that is powerful and satisfying?
To be honest i never liked the vanilla music because of how depressing it could get at times, but the HoTs, OMG thats a masterpiece, well done Anet. Also the action camera is the best feature ever to be added in gw2.
Ive been playing Mesmer since i start playing gw2, i have made alts of amost every other class but Mesmer has taken 90% of my play time. 80% of my pvp matches are with mesmer. i liked and played almost all mesmer builds, PU condi, shatter, Lockdown, but i just cant make my self like the WELL`s based gameplay of chrono, its just so anti-mesmer-ish, to be more specific , although i can see its use in pvp, i just feel that lacks PvE usability.
Thats both immersive and AWESOME, as a FPS fan and CSGO player, i wish first person in MMOs was like that!
Raptr is actually not inacurate at all, If you take the twitch views, raptr, Realted YouTube video views and the numbers WoW(6mil), Dota(10Mil), CS:GO(8mil), LoL(30mil), FFXIV you can make a very good estimate of how well a game is doing, and is clear that gw2 the last months has been actually dropping. i know that because i noticed it my self recently.

So heres the story, ivebben playing thisgame for 2 years, but ive only done some PvE i mostly was PvPing, now that i have time i can make my second legendary but ive been out of the loop for so long that i nop longer no whats the best way to make gold. id love a detailed guide of what activities i can do to make some coin, thanks in advance
i cant be the only one that finds it dull, come on
6. I’d rather play CTF
CTF is what i was hoping to get in HoTs. but yeah thats Anet we are talking about
honestly the gam eisnt balanced well but if you play well you can kick bump with any class. so i would say Engineer simply because of how difficult are most of the engi builds, not because is a bad class.
Which of course is down to the balance philosophy of this game, which is basically balance for tPvP at the expense of everything else, which of course has resulted in tremendous “e-sports” success, with the thing last night drawing huge viewing figures of about 850, so less than some kid streaming Runescape from their bedroom…
I LoL’d at that xD It’s funny because is true
Why outfit? well since the armor sets are coming in the game as part of the story, it doesn’t allow them to be something outside of the lore. But in this thread i want people to be as creative as possible. Use this form to make it easier to read.
Name:…
Style/Setting: (Heavy,Light,SciFi,Fantasy,Casual etc.)
Description/Photo/Example:
1.Class balance overhaul.
2.Diversity of builds. seriously. you have no idea how important is to have many builds to watch. the game has become a game of meta to the point when you watch a match on twitch for example you know the result of each battle before even it starts simply by looking at their builds.
3. Maps that are more fast paced. Point holding is not always an exciting thing to watch. Capture the flag for example has more backs-and-forths to keep you on the edge of your seat while you watching.
4.IMO downed state is lame. good for pve and wvw but i think has no place in pvp.
5.F2P i strongly think that this game even if doesnt do the above, if it goes f2p will get massively popular. it not that is not a good game or something, but that the online games market is clearly moving towards this business model.
Lack of rewards (I have to leave wvw for long periods of time if I want a certain shiny even if it’s more boring), achievements, skins (+ way of getting dungeon skins without pveing aka reward tracks) and the fact that they still haven’t reintroduced PPK.
I think the whole game lacks actual rewards. with pvp being the most rewarding part of gw2 right now. But i agree wvw rewards are probably the worst
got into pvp:
- more skill based
- is actual player vs player snd not player vs door
- less gear/food/buffs etc. based
- more strategical vs run in huge mob and spam 1
- small scale: actually can carry match solo to certain extend
- matches are over fast duhh
- rewards xDcould probably write essay on reasons…
Yeah i think is something like that. PvP is alot more fun since its more strategy based, which is something youd expect from massive scale pvp too but the design of wvw is that of no matter how good tactics you got if you dont have more troops youll loose anyway. which is why defense should have been something more important than what it is now. if you had less players for a example you could decide to just defend and keep what youve got until more players come etc.
Gw2 isnt the most uplifting game tbh. graphics are stylized in a deppresing serious tone. the music is quite nostalgic most of the time, even the battle themes. Its a pretty game, but beauty isnt always connected to cheerful things.
I know a good amount of players that still play the game, and when they first started all they wanted to do is WvW. no wonder since its concept (fantasy setting massive scale pvp) is something good. But many of just stopped WvWing including myself. I feel like doing the same over and over and nothing excites me any more. Why is that? How is it possible such a fun concept to feel like chore for so many pvp lovers ?
try a PU condi built. mesmer is difficult class for beginners but dont let that ruin your mood for playing it.
ive come a long way in pvp. i used to get destroyed with faceroll builds like warrior hambow and ranger. but after over a year im able to kick bumps with difficult builds like mesmer lockdown and celestial engi. i also got my champion illusionist title few months ago.
PvP is fantastic. PvE is still pointless and sometimes boring. there are quite few people playing but dont expect nothing close to lets say WoW player numbers.
I was thinking something more like a massive Crown on top of my head that is 10 my characters size that says something like : “Godlike” or “Awesome guy” or “WORSHIP ME”…
Yep sounds about right!
Lol have you played Mesmer in pvp ? having a few second advantage if you transform the enemy into moa is nothing compare to how high skill this class requires to actually do something in pvp. seriously Ranger press 2 to win is far more annoying and unfair.
Like Sticker said, replace Signet of Illusions for Midnight. Change Retaliatory Shield to Blade Training, faster cooldown on Block is better than Retaliation. Retaliation sucks on a mesmer, you don’t want to rely on that. Get IP instead and move your traits down in Illusion line, something like Masterful Reflection, Illusionary Invigoration and IP. IP will give you Distortion when you want/need it, not when your illusions shatter.
I would have went more phantasm focused instead of shatter, but it works too. Runes of Air works well with blocking build. Also, fire + air.
You have no condition removal, remove Signet of Inspiration or Decoy and put Mantra of Resolve.
It’s a fun build, alright, but you won’t go too far with that. Have fun.
I thought i should better go phantasm instead of shatter, but the trait synergy doesnt work nicely i think

I think as core idea this build is a good start, purpose of the build is do sustain dmg while you avoid inc dmg by using distortion with signets, Shatter and block skills. Rune of resistance might work well with this build.

IGN: Mr Sir Illusionist
Playstyle: PvP, sometimes PvE
Server: Tarnished Coast(NA)
Role: Tester, ive been playing memser for 2 years, (1year pvp, 1 Pve)
Time: GMT 5am to 9am. sometimes earlier. (OCE time)
How can i get invited to the guild? pretty pretty please ? Im on full Ascended Berserker armor, running mantras in zerg. i also pvp all the time
leveling is bad, people that leveled their characters few months after launch when you could still see people around doing events it was fun, now it really is a drag. it never was fun, its good that you have many options like crafting etc. otherwise if there was only heart quests it would kill it for many people that want to have alts
Mesmer takes twice the skill to play for half the result, compared to other classes.
Well that sums it up, BUT, thats where the fun comes from this class to be honest. PVP wise all classes can get fun against a tough player, but since PvE is a faceroll, classes like mesmer and engi can make it a bit more interesting while classes like warrior and Ranger will make you bored you to death
2. Game rewards are bad. Period
Ill use the Elite skill and the F5 skill for sure, but thats all, the utility wells look useless to my game play style
Totally agree with that. Male light armors are the least to say average. Id love to have some 100% mage like MALE MALE light armor for my mesmer instead of that femal-ish thing
Best: Mesmer, Engi
Worst: Thief, Necro
The only MMO out there with fun combat that cant get people interested in pvp. thats just sad. on a general note i do believe that this comes down to the fact of how badly you are getting rewarded in this game for doing pretty much anything especially PvP, gw2 has become nothing more than playing Dress up online.
It is theoretically possible that they use some specific hash of a character data as a seed for random number generation involved in loot drop calculation.
It is such a big bug though that i can’t believe it was not located for such long time.
That wouldn’t make much sense, though. If what the OP is describing is true (and while applying what you said above to it), that means that the RNG punishes playing for a longer period of time, which would discourage long-term players. I doubt ArenaNet want that.
you should probably view it the other way around, they make new players fell more rewarded while they balance the economy by reducing drops to the older players which they gonna keep playing anyway, thats just wrong no matter how you see it
Thats gw2 in a nutshell, go play aetherpath for example or arah explorable, get 6-7g by spending 4 hours doing difficult content or go in SW and make the same money or even more actually but facerolling zerg events.
whats the point having players with 5 portal drops in one day and others that have been grinding for days without a single one? at least let them gift the extra ones to guild mates and friends…
