No, this change is great. The only thing I would like to add is mobs have a longer leach that wouldn’t reset so easely making rushing past less viable.
There are a couple of paths that can be solod on the lower difficulties with certain classes. I played around with my ele and here are my results so far.
Aquatic Ruins Fractal — Doable but if you get eaten the boss resets so you have to keep range at all time and most of the damage ll come from the cages.
Cliffside Fractal — I very hard and annoying because the hammer has to be dropped at 39 stacks. Definately not recommended, but might be possible at lower difficulties if played well (I could get up to the arms but after dying a couple times I gave up).
Snowblind Fractal — Doable, nothing really hard
Solid Ocean Fractal (Jade Maw) — Should be doable for all classes, but didn’t get there yet
Swampland Fractal — Not doable due to wisp mechanic
Underground Facility Fractal — Not doable due to pressure plates
Urban Battlegrounds Fractal — Easiest to solo since you have help from the npcs
Volcanic Fractal — I managed to get to the final boss (40 is a lot) but couldn’t get enough hits in before the boss reached the npc and it kept healing (might be doable for a ranger)
Uncategorized Fractal — I stranded at old Tom because I couldn’t outheal the poison field with my build, but I am pretty sure with proper dodging and selfheals you could probably do him (warriors/guardians probably, mabye rangers since they have the pets protecting them)
Same here. Login seems to be down.
Atm I got a quite easy to use staff build which has pretty solid sustain at range, there is almost no danger even if you use full berserker gear if you know how to strafe.
I use 30/30/0/0/10, you should be able to fill in the traits yourself. Do not expect huge burst or insane high crits but you ll have solid sustained damage in fire as long as burn is up and you are quite safe if you use you range to your advantage. Combine this with a berserker set with scholar runes for optimal results.
If you want a bit more damage get the 10 points in water for more damage when above 90%, but the utility from arcane (endless vigor or boons on attunement switch) are very useful in some of the fights.
There actually is a method to obtain the ascended piece via tokens, 1850~ tokens and you are set.
It is absolutely not in proportion to anything, but the option is there…
I think only the back pieces are craftable, so no matter what, at this point you can only get +5 resist from the tokens, all in all you won’t go far with +5 resist.
With 500 more tokens and a Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence and 250 ectoes you can get the Beta Fractal Capacitor (infused) which gives 10 agony resist when infused.
In my experience 10 is plenty for all the 20/29 agony damage, but you ll probably hit a wall at 30. Still this doesn’t make the fact that you ll need to farm a 2350 relics and 75g or ~150g any better if you are unlucky. And the progress ll stop entirely at 30 most likely.

For all the recipies.
Anet actually had nearly no RNG before fractals only the black lion chest and the forge, but the chests are always a gamble and so is the forge for certain combos.
The only problem with this RNG is that they could have avoided it so easely with a token alternative. For example: give tokens for the daily and after 5 tokens you get a normal ring. If they want it to be RNG they can always make the kind of ring you get random, but at least you wont be capped by your agony resist and get as many rings as you want as long as you keep doing the daily.
The idea at the swamp is to not go via the gates but jump via the trees next to the gates.
-For the furthest runs use ele or thief (endless speedbuff and teleport help) and one of the other classes for the others. (not sure mesmer portals work I never tried/needed)
-If you have an annoying combo (the 3 far ones), pick up and drop the orb and you ll get a new one.
-Make sure you know where the traps are and avoid them.
-If the mossman/champion is on the route get one of the 2 spare players to distract him.
-Let the 2 spare players help with clearing out mobs that might be in the way.
-Make sure the runners have condition remove and stability or teleport skills to get up from traps you accidently hit
-The most important thing is to know where the mini jumps are to get over the walls. Every wall has 1 or 2 jumps you can use to get over so you dont have to get lucky with a gate not closing.
No news that I know of, but I hope they fix it soon. It doesn’t seem like something that would be too hard to fix or roll back till they get a proper fix.
Dragon’s tooth is still bugged after this small update.
I ve already made a report ingame, but I find that the forums actually stir up more attention then the ingame reports do.
Still I do agree that everyone should be civil and constructive in this topic, so we can help anet fix this bug asap.
Everyone please keep replying in this topic so anet knows we wants this fixed asap. It’s simply not acceptable for Dragon’s tooth to have no blast finisher anymore after they supposably fixed the skill.
Dragon’s tooth is still not working as a blast finisher.
Dragon’s tooth is still not working as a blast finisher on target atm.
Dragon’s tooth still doesn’t count as a blast finisher I ll update topic this as often as I can to make sure Anet is aware of this.
Except for evasive arcane and DT, I was getting all my normal blast finishers.
It’s not giving blast finishers for me either. Not at the target location or my location.
Can confirm that dragon’s tooth has no blast finisher anymore. Not in combat/my spot or my targets spot.
If you bring him to the first stealth phase and only bring 4/5 sparks to the handin point and then wait for him to reappear it ll only take 1 spark for the next stealthphase to get him back from stealth. This makes the fight very easy and doable even by low dps groups.
It is possible to run with people from different servers as long as they are not on different continents (EU doesn’t combine with US).
It’s not needed to have a party with 4 warriors and a thief, but it’s very useful to have a thief for the poison tho.
Basic tactic for low dps groups is like this:
-Gather tears
-Assign a spark running, a 2nd spark runner and make sure others know how and when to throw tears
-Bring him to 45%
-Trigger stealth have 4 keep dpsing him
-Have the first spark runner hand in 4 sparks and leave the last spark (do not aggro it) and then run back to the boss
-He ll probably be over 50% again when he destealths
-Bring him to 45% make sure the first spark running is close to the remaining spark ready to turn in it
-Trigger stealth
-Turn in the 1 spark it should destealth her
-All dps
-When he goes stealth again both spark runners go hand in sparks while the rest keeps beating up on him in stealth (work together so you dont reset sparks and cover more ground)
If done correctly and without bugs you should be able to eat away at his hp during the nonstealth phases just enough to get him down in a couple of nonstealth phases. If he goes above 50% either your dps sucks or your spark technic need work.
I ve done this with very low dps groups, but it does require a bit of practice and people need to make sure not to go down from the aoe fields/stun.
Good luck and sometimes the sparks bug a bit so just work with it and eventually you ll get it.
I made a magic find set and it was very simple for me to judge that my damage decreased easely with 30% due to my main statt becoming mf. Any good player ll know he is not supporting his team as good as he could be.
If all members would change to mf gear, not only would you kill a lot slower. It would also be much harder for of the bad players to stay alive, due to the limit in statt combos available with mf.
If people use mf outside dungeons be my guest, since it’s a zergfest anyways. But in dungeons your just leaching of you team. Like people that refuse to wear armor.

As a desolation player I can say that the fights have been pretty cool during the day. And since Ruin joined we got a lot better organisation in the WvW without really having long queues. All in all I welcome anyone that joins our server be it american, european or russian.
Look around on the web for movies/guides about what you can do to skip/speed up your runs.
Path 3 is the shortest with a time of 30/45 min depending on your group and taking into account that you don’t fail at lupicus. It is possible doing this path killing only the a couple trash mobs between the 2nd boss and lupicus. 5/10 mobs max.
Path 2 is not long either and has the best wp for lupicus it takes my group a bit over an hour usually.
Both paths have relatively little trash that you actually have to kill (in a good group you can kill it quite fast, but in most it’s easier and faster to skip). That makes 2 arah runs in 90 min if done correct which is not much more then some of the longer dungeons like CoE when pugging.
Dont quote me on this, but I remember someone saying that if you run a short dungeon path again within 2 hours or so even if it’s on another character or after the daily achievement reset you ll only get 30 tokens instead of 60.
Not sure why this is done, but you should try waiting a while before running the same dungeon again and you should get the full reward. The reason CoE doesn’t trigger it is because if you run all 3 paths the timer ll have reset on the first path to give full rewards again.
I ve had this bug myself and it’s very demotivating after doing the whole dungeon to not get any rewards for completing it. I ll not do p1 or 4 for this reason since they are both very long and prone on bugging.
Path 1 bugs after the final boss. Path 4 bugs either at giganticus lupicus not becoming aggresive or the final boss not becoming aggresive.
Please fix these bugs and the bug in the events to open the arah gates. I love Arah and it’s by far the best dungeon in GW2, but this is very frustrating.
Having a group with 4/5 glasscannon can be very fast, but yea they do need to know how to play. It’s not that hard to play as a glasscannon as long as you know how to dodge and have the correct utility skills. It is very handy to have at least one tanky char in your group tho.
There is nothing random about this fight and the animations on the boss are very clear and should be dodgable if positioned right.
But for those who are having difficulty some tips on all the phases.
p1 to p2 transition:
- He spawns 2 grubs which have to be killed
p2:
- He ll focus one person for burrow for the entire p2. If that person stays at the side of the arena the rest can stay at the middle with camera at max zoom making the random bolts easy to dodge.
- When dodging random bolts dodge to the side. He ll always turn toward you when casting a bolt on you.
- When you have difficulty dodging the big aoe move at max range from him or even further, it’s important to stay alive more then doing damage. Same goes here when dodging circles dodge to the side.
- Let your guardian give blocks to the group and expecially the one being burrowed after. (make sure to move away before another burrow comes)
- If the burrow person gets out of combat he ll burrows towards the 2nd on his list so keep that in mind.
p3
- He tends to follow the person closest to him and once he gets someone in melee range he always cast his green cageball (clones/pets/etc work great to trigger it and make him stand still).
- If he is following you, do not try to res downed people. You ll only be killing them.
- He picks one target that ll drained by the single target drainlife. Again dodgable by dodging to the side. He ll also throw random bolts at that person. Help keep him/her alive and revive from downed asap.
- Please do not try to melee tank in p3. You can probably eat the first 3 cages but eventually you ll die and just be a burden to your group.
People saying this fight is not doable or not balanced need to work on their teamwork and mabye reaction time, because this is the best tought out and balanced dungeon fight atm for the simple reason that everything can be dodged.
I run full berserker gear ele and only go down if I get an unlucky hit by the random bolts and even then my group can usually get me back up. It’s all about dodging, but having a good guardian makes this fight even easier.
Good luck with the upcoming fights I hope the tips I gave ll do you any good.
First off all I agree that the DR timer is a tad silly for short dungeons, but I really doubt that Anet will change it any time soon.
That being said in most cases it wont effect you. Most groups only run 1 dungeon (3 paths) and then do something else. And even if you do run multiple dungeons, it ll only trigger if you choose to do 2 short dungeons in a row (AC/CoF/TA).
The simple solution for me is to alternate a short dungeon with a longer one or stop and do something else in between.
It is also possible for an alt to have proper and sometimes even excellent gear. At least I am making sure my alt is being top notched geared for when I do play on it to get the best out of the playtime.
From my experience you get DR on your 5th+ exp run in ~2 hours.
So lets say your run CoF p1/2 first and then AC p1/2/3 you would only DR on the 3th AC run which would give you 45 instead of 60. Just take a short break in between different dungeons and you ll never have this problem.
That would truely be a strange way of customer support. I am still hoping for Anet to see that fixing the gate/event is the only way forward here. Untill that time I ll just be sending them the bug reports.
I did a CM exp run with 2 below 80 and it might not have been as fast as some groups, but it was definately a whole lot of fun. Everyone was just chilling and doing their best to progress in the dungeon. We talked a bit while we cleared trash and all in all it was a great experience.
In most groups these days it’s all about rushing with little communication at all. Expecially full 80 groups tend to be very boring unless it’s with mates. That’s why I rather go with lower players that make me enjoy the game then rushing level 80s.
They ll need to ban a lot of people if they do so, since I ve seen at least 100+ go past the gate easely and there are a lot worse things then us finding a creative way to do the dungeon we like. Transferring servers would be an option, but I like my current server so I dont feel like transferring just because this event is always bugged.
I am not sure why it’s still not fixed (a temporairy fix just opening the door would have been nice), but to counter this it helps having a mesmer alt inside the gate.
Me and a friend brought his level mesmer alt to the gates and every time it bugs he logs in and teleports me inside after I have cleared the mobs around the entrance. This way we can do the dungeon at our own convenience till Anet gets a proper fix. I have also ran it with friends from other servers letting them enter which also works pretty well.
Atm path 1 and 4 have a tendency to bug at the last boss, which makes it very undesirable to run. Even if you make it there after 1.5 to 4 hours. It’s a real dissapointment to get to the final boss just to have the door (p1) or the boss (p4) bug.
This exact door in p1 also bugged for my group on desolation yesterday and we weren’t quite sure why it did. But it’s very frustrating spending the time to do the dungeon (we even killed the ape) and not being able to get your token reward.
As far as I know there was never a chest from the final boss. The chest is from the previous boss since you can already loot it before killing the final boss.
This is as intended. Anet wants you to use the other Wp (at the 2nd boss) in p3 and 4.
I finally managed to get my title as well with Simin finally biting the dust after doing the dps while in stealth way.
As for the achievement points only being 10, I dont care about that since I heared about a person getting 10k+ achievement points just by salvaging cheap crap of the trading post over and over for 5 achievement points each 200. Makes them seem a whole lot less significant.
I totally agree that dungeons should be tested more before patches go live. Bugs like p1/2 in arah being undoable can be fished out with 1 runthough which only take 2 hours with a proper testing team. Having each path run once before patches go live is vital, either on ptr or by a professional testing team.
I agree that the camera can use some work indoor, but properly positioning the boss can help a lot as well.
When we did Lupi the first couple times I had a lot of trouble in p2 due to the boss standing in the middle a lot which means your standing at the side and the camera zooms in. But when I asked the tank (the person that is being burrowed towards) to position him near the wall we could stand in the middle making it very easy to have a good overview of what’s going on.
We just killed this boss. First trying to bruteforce it but we had too little damage for that unfortunately (normal bosses our dps was great but this one went slow as some people couldn’t properly hit him properly in stealth).
After 2 tries we used the sparks with 1 of us running sparks and the others still dpsing him, this worked surprisingly well because for some reason it did not take all 5 sparks to restealth her twice in a row. Which really made me wonder if they changed the mechanic or if this was yet another one of his silly bugs.
As long as you switch to a staff you should still do respectable damage to burrows with meteor. I also highly advice you to take get out a frost bow for the burrow part. Frost bows do massive damage on objects so when 2 or more people in the group run with them it should be pretty easy.
For p1 the 6 burrow spawn (which is harder then p3 in my opinion) you can take out 2 burrows alone in no time with frostbow/meteor. One other member also having a frostbow means 3 down that’s just 3 left. If you cant handle that something is wrong.
For p3 you can almost alternate meteor and frostbow (I think during the 3th it ll have cd), so just learn the order of spawns and you should be fine.
For CoE path 3 it’s better to have the ele use the console since they have mist form and obsedian flesh which means 7 sec of invurability + arcane shield for 3 blocks. If that’s not enough that nothing ll save you and you should start looking at your teammates.
Had to laugh when I read this post. I am sure this is not how the fight was ment. But if your is so bad you have to pull it to the waypoint, then your group must be pretty bad and I pity them.
That being said there is also a read bug with Giganticus Lupicis where there is no cutscene and he just sits there with no way to start the fight.
I was doing p4 for the first time and when we got to Lupi after 90 min of clearing he just sat there with no way of starting the fight. Pretty depressing for everyone, when hoping to get a first kill for the title. We were actually hoping to get some good tries on Simin with a couple different tactics ready for him, but we didn’t have time for an extra 90 min clear.
First off there is a huge difference between someone that has a level 80, but is playing a level 35 alt and a fresh new 35 when it comes to how well they ll do in dungeons. If I had to do a speedrun AC back when was 35 on my main, I would die all the time and now I could probably do it with any 35 I get my hands on without much trouble.
That being said I think it’s rude to kick someone in general and expecially if you dont even know weither they have experience on other chars or not.
The only time I ever kicked someone was for AC exp is when a level 31 wanted to join and didn’t wanna understand that he wasn’t the proper level. I dont mind people leaching a bit (for example using mf gear or green gear). But being 4 levels below the level requirement is means you ll be plain useless everything ll kill you very fast and you ll get mayor glancing blows.
That is not a bug, it the DR kicking in. If you ran path 3 quickly (say within 40/50 min) and run it again within the next 3/4 hours you ll get DR on your reward. But they also prevents you from having another 40 bonus tokens for that day.
I had the same in CoF we ran path 1 shortly before the daily achievement reset and then again after and most of us got 30 tokens instead of 60 tokens for the 2nd run.
We ran it again 12 hours later and we only got 20 tokens since the we already had our bonustokens.
The next wave spawns as soon as only one mobs is left which mean you simply have to bring the last 2 mobs of each waves down around the same time so you are ready for the next wave. Like all are saying before tho, it’s mostly about surviving
1) It not possible to get the best gear from dungeons while leveling since, by the time you get enough tokens from exploration mode you ll be 10 levels higher then the level requirement meaning the gear is outdated again. Therefore while leveling it’s easier to find upgrades on the Black lion trading co. The dungeons themselves dont drop rares/exotics from bosses like in WoW.
On level 80 the best gear can be found in dungeons, crafted or bought from specific vendors.
2) The current LFG system consists of going to the area where the dungeon is located and Lion’s Arch and using the phrase: ‘LFM AC story’ or meaning ‘Looking for More for Acalonian Catacombs Story mode’ in this case.
3) Getting gear with the best statts is quite easy since crafting is relatively cheap and if you save your money when leveling you should be able to get most of your armor by the time you reach 80. Doing it via exploration mode requires 1440 tokens for an armor set which means doing the dungeon 24 times (or about 8 times the 3 different paths).
GW2 dungeons are a bit more difficult then WoW dungeons in my experience, but if you just practice your skills and you ll do fine. (having a correct trait build helps a lot so look for that on your class forum)
Good luck and have fun.
The crossrealm dungeon function works, I play on desolation myself and a friend from a different server entered us a couple days ago. It’s still annoying tho if you wanna go with a guild group tho and you cant enter because of the bug.
Because of the downleveling which is done for all partymembers, it’s 100% doable to enter all story mode dungeons the level they open up for you which is 30 for AC and then every 10 levels. I am not sure if you can even enter before that level, but would not be wise. You ll get too many glancing blows.
At any level it helps if you have at least a weapon for that level and blue gear if you can, you ll notice the difference in staying alive and damage output
The exploration mode is a bit harder but with a solid group level should not matter that much. (be warned tho there are groups out there that ll kick you if you apply for exp mode when not 80)
