Why I almost bought the ultimate edition

  • Saw the in-game thing, and was all excited.
  • Saw the ultimate option had a gem discount, and was “:-O want!”
  • Saw that standard didn’t come with a character slot when every previous guild wars series expansion that added classes did, and I would also be paying for a base game account I don’t get, and literally logged out of game in disgust.

I am no stranger to the gem store, and was literally moments from dropping a hundred dollars on a game with no release date like it was nothing, but how can I morally support this nonsense? Anet has clearly changed from their gw1 days, and this is a change I can’t support. And for that, Anet just lost out on a $90 sale, and ensured that I probably won’t making any gem purchases for awhile(I had been eyeing up more than $50 worth of stuff). Makes you wonder how many more sales like that they lost.

Now if Anet were to come to their senses, and added a character slot to the standard version(even if just for veteran players like in GW1), then they could easily count on my purchase of the ultimate edition.

Sad loss of Heroes & Henchmen

Jermoe Morrow.9501

There is NOTHING sad about the loss of heroes and henchmen.

Given how ridiculously easy it is to get a casual group for any dungeon/fractal in the LFG tool (and I main a ranger), I can only think back to GW1 and how the introduction of heroes was the end of me being able to find a group. Everyone just ran with heroes. That was the end of GW1 being an MMO.

In short, stop being anti-social, make a group, and play with people. Don’t try and make this a single player game.

why does gw2 feel like a grindy f2p?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

and by that I mean the nickle and diming grindy feel whenever you want to change your character’s appearance or have more than character 5 slots or more bank slots or….etc. Like I paid 50+ USD $ for it when it originally came out. Played since day 1. I’ve got like two, TWO pieces of cosmetics I’ve unlocked (like the special ones you can apply for free) . Seriously? There are f2p games with more cosmetic options for less time spent.

Sure there are random loot crap unlocks. I’m talking about looks you’d actually want on your character. I know the token thingys arent too hard to grind but they’re still a grind. for a paid model I should be able to change my appearance on a whim.

I remember when WoW added transmutation, it had a gold cost. Haven’t played wow in while, but I know I was paying a monthly fee for out and still had to pay to transmute (and most of their armors were simply pallet swaps, not fully modeled like in gw2)

Cosmetics in game? I just decked out my ranger in armor/back items that were introduced in ls season 2 for free. Before that he was wearing priory which he bought with gold and applied with freely obtained transmutation charges. Using all those transmute charges doesn’t worry me because they drop for free like candy in pvp.

Have I bought outfits, skins, and bank/bag space too? Sure I have, but I DIDN’T PAY A MONTHLY FEE EITHER. So I say it balances out.

And all this complaint about having any sort of grind? It’s like you never played an mmo ever before, because grind is a universal component of the genre. Gw2 at least puts the grind on non essential things like cosmetics instead of making you grind out a whole new set of armor to be able to access each chapter of living story.

Its hard to main a character (for 3 years)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Jermoe Morrow.9501

Hello,

i play this game already since its first beta..and its really a nice game and i fall in love with the ele here

so…im playing my ele only for 3 years already (and gw2 is my main game)…..and i really have huge problems

edit: pls dont read only nr1 but also nr2 and nr3(bcs most only answer to nr1) here is also a better explanation for it https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Rune-option-armor-more-better-builds-sggstn/first#post5386829

1. The inventory of my main character is too small. I even bough all extra bad slots..andgot bags with 18 or 20 slots..but i constantly run with 90 items and i need clean my inventory every 15 min.
i have so much space..bcs its my main…i got 4 different armor sets..bcs i want have the perfect armor for normal pve..dungeons, fractals and 2 wvw armor (+ fitting trinkets)..which seeems normal for me considering i only play this character for all gamemodes for 3 years..also i got 11 weapon on me (even ele only use like 5)
and…..i got so many items which i suddenly need..like food buffs..(so i also got like 10 on me)..and the items for wvw..they also use up a lot of space..and then maaany items from pve which i need in my inventory that i can interact with the environment.

It would be really nice if this problem could be fixed with more bagslots to sell, or other solutions.

2. Its difficult to try out new builds in perfect way..bcs i would need like 6 different armorsets with the same stats..but always a different rune…and if i want have best stats (asc) then it get pretty expensive and it makes me just use the old build..so..im running around with the same build for long time…and it get boring fast.
(im referring mainly to wvw..bcs best stats r needed there for roaming and a different rune or sigil can mean life or death)
sure i play the game a lot and i could have enough money to get 4 asc sets ..but it does not worth for a 10h fun to farm for 200h….

3. mastering a profession gets difficult bcs of reason nr2. which seems for be the biggest aim in gw2..to become on of the best elementalist..and i think many vetran player have such an aim.

also..these changes will not just help vetran player..but also new player

edit: pls dont consider only my full inventory but also the rune issue

As someone who has mained a ranger for 3 years, also carries around a max inventory with 90 slots filled with junk and extra armor sets, my best advice to you is roll a couple of alts for some variety, but I will answer your problems directly as well.

Inventory problems I don’t usually do anything till I’m at<=20 slots

  • get a copper fed salvage kit and salvage all the non rare armor/weapons you pick up, use a mystic salvage kit or equivalent for the rare items(or throw rare weapons in mystic toilet). There is really no need to go to the bank for anything less than an exotic. Obviously click your luck as you go.
  • TP any materials that don’t get picked up by “deposit collectibles”, but these rarely take up more than 5 slots in a single area, so you can let them collect until you get low on slots, or hit a lull in the action.
  • carry a black lion merchant(anet has given me 20 for free) If you still get filled with junk mid fractal/dungeon, it probably is junk. Sell junk and then sell anything not worth the tp(usually minor runes/sigils, since it is such a hassle to mystic forge them). I have had to use a bl merchant exactly once.
  • EDIT: 20 slot fractal bags are pretty cheap if you run some fractals.

build problems

  • GEAR Zerker set, soldier set, a support set. Do ele do enough Condi for a Condi set? Don’t get how you need 6. But I think you are certainly putting too much importance on runes, even in terms of wvw,, but if you want to experiment you can always pop into pvp lobby to play with runes against training dummies and sparring npcs. Actually just pvp, that would give you the best free practice for your wvw roaming.
  • Your armor=/=Your build. Your armor is a part of your build, but so are your weapons, traits, and skills. Unless I need to be tanky or supporty for whatever reason, I’m running ascended zerker with scholar runes 24/7. This doesn’t mean I’m always running the same build. I regularly experiment with different weapons, skills and traits, and will often change things up as the situation demands.

mastery of your class

  • You aren’t your gear. Your mastery of your class comes far more from how you use your skills and traits in a given situation.
  • run some alts! By playing other classes, you learn their strengths and weakness better for when you fight them. You also get a chance to see your main class from the outside. Play the class you have the worst luck against, and fight other eles. What do they do that messed you up? I can’t emphasise enough how useful the alt perspective is in enhancing your gameplay with your main, in addition to just being a great change of pace.
  • You could always watch other people’s roaming videos and such too. I know I occasionally learn a thing or two by watching other people. Perhaps a skill used in an unintuitive way, or a trait/skill combo I didn’t notice.

Are you happy with the gear system in PvE?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

Ummm… Non-zerker gear is viable, and has always been viable, but you clear your dungeon a couple minutes faster if you run zerker gear compared to one of the other viable armor stats. (Example: my engineer runs celestial instead of zerker/assassins in dungeons and nobody even notices unless I mention it. Of course I avoid “zerker only exp” groups because I’m not a kitten like that)

That said, New meta will probably be zerker/sinister depending on class. Designing encounters where passive defense is required would be stupid. Again, this doesn’t mean you won’t be able to run soldiers or settlers or whatever, just that the pros trying to shave a few seconds off their clear times will still be running dps gear.

So yeah, I’m cool with current gear situation so long as they don’t cripple my full set of ascended zerker in fractals unless they offer some chance to re-stat my ascended. That stuff was just too expensive.

They’d never make it a perminant option to always have your pet fused because its the entire mechanic of our class.

There is more to ranger than pets. I mean, we have a FLAVOR. Wilderness marksmen that can dance around their targets with sword drawn as needed. Laying down the traps and summoning the spirits. The pet? we didn’t need it all the time in GW1, I say we don’t need it all the time in GW2.

This is of course not to say I don’t enjoy having my river drake named Fluffy out adventuring with me, just that having the option to leave him at home wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Ranger Talk: Buff Range / Party Buff Range

in Ranger

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

Sorry but I don’t agree. Ranger is just your profession name, nobody forces you to play ranged and you have other weapon sets that allow you to do even more damage when in melee. If you chose to play ranged, then you suffer the drawbacks of being at range, which are less damage, no buffs, no quick rez if downed.

oh, and you can still use your bow in melee range.

Oh, give me a break.

You can use your bow in melee range if you want to do far less damage than you would with a melee weapon, while taking the same damage.

Yeah, thanks a lot for that.

I can also wear just a pair of socks while I run a marathon, if I like, but not many people would.

No class should, effectively, be rendered obsolete, because its specialist weapons have been rendered obsolete, in group play, except in certain very specific situations.

…and that is exactly what happens if Ranger has to use the same weapons and stand in melee range, with other classes (which are better in that situation, as they were designed for it), to try to fit in with the group dynamic and share buffs.

I’m constantly hearing that rangers should “go home”, or “uninstall (haha)”, in favour of other classes, in both PVE and WvW.

That, obviously, isn’t right.

You shouldn’t end up being viewed as an inferior version of a Thief, or something.

That is obviously not what you signed up for, when you rolled Ranger.

All classes should be created equal (or as equal as is possible), otherwise, what is the point?

…and if there is going to be raiding in this game (and good luck with that, with all the lag!), all profs need to do the same damage, offer equally valuable buffs (at any range) and be allowed to excel at their chosen role.

Not be nerfed for daring to play ranged and shoehorned into a permanent stacking position, as they are now.

Honestly, it’s almost laughable.

Every class has its meta weapons that it is supposed to use for super awesome damage. This wouldn’t even be a big deal if so many rangers didn’t think they are Legolas, when clearly Aragorn was the only ranger in Lord of the Rings (wielding a sword all the time).

Even so, in Buff range, you can easily use axe and Shortbow and still take far fewer hits. Just stand just a little behind your allies and you are good. Even longbow can be used reasonably effective if you get in a more mobile fight. Sure you won’t do max DPS, but you won’t get complaints either since Rapid fire and Barrage don’t care what range you are at.

Then again, I am a Ranger that has never been told to go home/roll another class/quit the game/ect, so what do I know?

Whitespace is your friend

That said, I think Anet wants ascended to be a major grind: either by crafting or farming.

This is not to say everyone wouldn’t love for this to happen, I just think we have a better chance of a one-time stat change than a complete rework of ascended crafting that drastically reduces the grind. And I doubt we would even get the one-time…

And just know you hate the option: but if you can afford ascended, then you can easily afford exotic.

Do racial skills go away?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

God I hope yes, implementing that junk was a bad idea fro mthe very begin on …

Instead wastign ressources on racial skills, Anet should have given instead of those 4 racial skills every class just 4 more useful utility skills

And now with the Revenant comign to the game, we will see a class, that has on its own no space for utility/racial skills, because the legendaries will always change out completely the whole right side of your skill bar completely.

SO what does it make for any sense to keep that crapyp thought out system of those racial skills, when theres a new playable class, that won’t be able to use any of them cause of its whole own class gameplay design???

Racial Skills should get completely redesigned into RACIAL TRAITS if at all

Racial skills are fun. They were never meant to be op meta skills, just something fun to play with, and they are some of my favorite skills. I get a special joy watching the prayer to Dwayna animation as I heal my human guardian, or turning my Norn into a giant raven. Sure, i’m not using them in a dungeon speed run, but in open world pve I use them all the time.

If anything, Revenant is a mistake from the very beginning if it is really a class with no meaningful customization in a game about customization. I know many people use cookie cutter builds, but this is ridiculous.

Also, racial traits are stupid. What is the point of having racial abilities if nobody sees them.

Overwolf? Why not just have addon support?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

I think the biggest reason is that anet doesn’t want to be bothered making plug in support when there is a third party solution that people will develop for free, and provides a small amount of advertising to other people using said program. It also means that the overlay apps don’t really have to be monitored because they can’t do anything bad. They also need not worry about an update to game breaking apps.

Basically, overwolf is the cheapest solution, and it still manages to get the job done.

Why Overwolf over Steam

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

I don’t know why you would want it on steam. Steam’s overlay it’s terrible compared to overwolf. I was launching gw2 with steam right up until I discovered overwolf, and there is no going back.

Overwolf overlay
+ doesn’t interrupt game
+ browser that doesn’t fail to load pages half the time
+ browser opens /wiki searches
+ TS/skype/ect are real voice options compared to steams’ always disconnecting voice chat, and all can be accessed without essentially leaving the game.
+ custom apps like world boss timers, and notepads to save builds

Steam overlay
+ tells time
- fails at everything overwolf does by comparison.

Even with a second monitor, I can’t see how steam would be better. I mean, stream is literally pointless with a second monitor other than for steam friends(and you can access steam friends through overwolf anyway)

And steam is not a financial win for anet either for reasons already listed…

We certainly won’t see any less diversity in terms of meta than we have now. If anything you will have a little more with each class having the meta core build and meta specialization build. Turret Engi Patch - How are we faring?

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

I think the real question is who were these scrub lords who were defeated by turret engies pre-nerf who could just sit amongst there turret and not die? Whenever I ran turret and got in a fight, I would find myself quickly with all skills on cool down and an empty stamina bar (and those were the fights I won). Turret engie certainly wasn’t a super hard build, but it wasn’t mindless, and it certainly wasn’t particularly devastating to anyone with an IQ above 70.

Now I am going to have to struggle to find a use for turrets, since no amount of placement is going to keep a flame or thumper from being a wasted skill slot now. I guess rifle is still good for its toolbelt in a static discharge if nothing else. If only we could do boons…then perhaps team up with a ranger using healing spring…

Kittening noobs, always ruining the game crying for nerfs instead of learning to play…

If a pet is set a nickname for an aquatic pet, and then also equip it for land use, it will share nicknames. So using 2 cats? set them as underwater. Now you can swamp out the land variant as needed and the cats will remember their nicknames. Obviously this only works for amphibious pets…

Given how single purpose each weapon is, I think weapon swap would be greatly appreciated. If we don’t have a problem with engineer running around with up to 35 skills, or elementalist with 30+ I don’t see why we are getting bent out of shape with rev having 20. I mean they only get 15 now, which is technically less than normal weapon swap classes since they have f1-f5 skills that do something in addition to their baseline 15.

If anything, it would make their class mechanic more interesting, since they would be the only class that could change both sides of their skill bar completely in combat.

That said, most estimates from beta players I read put it at a descent size, and I distinctly remember someone at anet saying future living story would be HoT only (so more content/zones).

The important thing is that they listened to what we had to say, and did something to alleviate our concerns.

Meta's and exploits are killing this game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

Perhaps you should have posted this under the dungeon forum?

If it wasn’t zerker meta, there would be something else for the “lvl 80 exp zerk only or kick” speed run crowd. It just so happens that conditions are meh in a group setting(something they are fixing) and there are enough active defenses built into characters that attacking more defense in the DPS check dungeons is unnecessary.

And the dungeons are just that: DPS checks. There is no account of balancing that wool change this. Why you think anet made fractals? I’ve done over a hundred of them and not one had anyone care about gear(beyond having sufficient AR) as I rolled with my ranger because they have actual mechanics to the fights.

And the other armor combinations get play outside of dungeons. Open world nobody cares what you play as long as it is viable (most everything is). Soldiers > zerker for world bosses like teq, and wvw you mix in other states for survivability as well.

Glitches are a thing, and they need to be fixed, but they setting both ways. If only I had a gold for every time I lost the hammer on cliffside fractal…And how is using reflect am exploit?

Lastly, everyone I know with the game intends to get expansion, yet none of them have seen any of the videos…So perhaps your assumption that interested parties well always watch every video on you tube (especially when the reveal was shown in game) is flawed?

And just a reminder: Dungeons are only a small part of the game. Fractals, open world events in orr and the other 80 zones, world bosses, wvw, and pvp also exist.

It would be sad that the only pet profession of the game suddenly lose it’s pet… Well whatever, there will be alway people wanting the “archer” archetype class to be the GW2 ranger. (Which he is not )

Some of us just want the GW2 ranger to be more like the GW1 ranger, which generally never had pet out. Generally didn’t use bows either… think mine spent more time holding daggers or a staff, and I hear hammer was also popular. Bows were for my barrage assassin. Even now, most rangers are about swords.

And necro and arguably mesmer are also pet classes.

Today's dailies: You do fractals YES or YES.

I don’t do Fractals, i hate the toxicity in the community that plays that content, simply because i roll a ranger and those are speed runs mostly that kick out any player that don’t fit the meta.
I’m not in a guild that do fractals often neither. Anyway somehow after doing some of them because of mawdrey i learn to dislike that content because of the poor experience the random LFG there.

As someone who mains a ranger, and has PUGed their way to scale 32 as that ranger, I would have to say that I have never seen a ranger get kicked or been kicked myself. As long as you run Spotter and bring frost spirit, you are golden. Even then, fractal groups are pretty chill. As long as you are 80 with the appropriate AR, nobody cares. I have even run a few groups as the second ranger without a complaint, although I usually give the other ranger the option to drop spotter and run a different spirit

If anything, fractals are built for rangers because there are so many opportunities for our range to shine (final bosses on dredge, reactor, underwater fractals; most of uncategorized fractal with the harpies and cleaning out the gates in urban fractal; the many times I soloed the molten duo) and with skills like GS block and SOS we can totally cheese deathtraps like the trap in uncategorized or the light platforms in aetherblade. Just our elite shout’s swiftness+stability is enough to cheese the gusty platforms on cliffside as a hammer carrying hero, or run an orb straight through traps on swamp.

Then again, I do tend to make my own groups (unless I already see a group for my particular scale) so people know what they are getting into. Don’t forget to roll swamp. People love swamp for some reason.

Edit: I’m on a US server, so it isn’t just Europeans who are friendly and such.

What is a good class for a new player please?

Guardian has healing and buffing of party to a degree, but there are no healers in gw2. Still more a tank. Guardians are faceroll easy to play through allot of combat, and desirable all groups. Ranger while fun and useful, has an incredibly bad rep because of all the newbs who play out, and is somewhat underpowered in pvp.

I should point out that racial skills are generally underpowered, but they can be desirable and/or fun in certain situations. I for one hate the guardians best heal, shelter, and prefer to use the human racial skill “prayer to dwayna”, and summoning the hounds of Balthazar as a guardian feels extra right.

For ranger: all the norn skills summon animals or turn them into one(something to consider for the coming introduction of druids if you want that wow flavor) making then a fun thematic choice for when you are messing around. Sylvari have a number of viney/plant skills that fit well with ranger, including a single target entangle.

Thankyou, I’ll try not too, but I’m most excited for the huge world bosses at the end, is there any other PVE content to look forward to at end game?

Also thankyou everyone for the warm welcomes! You are awesome

There are:

  • Dungeons
  • Fractals
  • World bosses
  • Silverwastes/Dry Top
  • Orr events (temples)

But there are plenty of things to do such as collections, achievements, jumping puzzles, skins, legendaries, etc. You will have plenty of things to work for.

No love for beautiful Southsun Cove? Also, WvW doesn’t really make sense until 80 either.

Ranger Talk: Buff Range / Party Buff Range

in Ranger

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

Pardon my late reply.

First off, never did I say or insinuate that I am a Ranger that wants to and/or does dedicate my time in battle entirely to the Bow. That is a misplaced assumption on your part you seemed to convince yourself of.

All I am saying is that when a Ranger DOES use a Shortbow or Longbow, make it so Ranger players can still contribute to a Party whether long-ranged or not by increasing the Range a Ranger has to be within (900 to 1,000) to receive buffs for equal survivability. And like I said in my idea, when a Ranger switches to a melee-based weapon, they would then have to move in and get much closer to receive buffs.

How hard is my thread to understand? Never did I say the idea(s) I have in mind would make the Bow 100% viable 100% of the time. It is like you are reading between the white lines of everything I am saying and then filling it all in with what you believe I said instead of what I am actually saying.

P.S. Legend has it I actually know how to play a Ranger, so thank you for telling me everything I already knew Rangers are used for and are capable of. That is all besides the point.

1) There really isn’t a time you should be out of buff range on ranger shortbow. None of the skills care how far way you are other than being within the range, and posion volley is best up close. So this is a thread about longbow as far as ranger is concerned.

2) What other class would have to be out of buff range to use their range? Engineer is the only other class with comparable extreme range using grenades, but they can use those at any range. Best I can think of is Mesmer greatsword, but that is just one of many ranged weapons they have.

3) A ranger with a longbow still can easily contribute to party. Rapid Fire, Barrage, Hunter’s shot, and even the dreaded Point Blank Shot are all pretty much range neutral. Last I checked, most meta builds anticipate that you will open with a rapidfire+barrage, and Fractals are filled with situations where your party wants to see that range. So it isn’t even a situation where people don’t want to see you with a longbow equipped ever. No, the only thing about longbow that would give you a reason to not be in buff range is the auto attack, and we only care about auto attacks when we are camping a weapon as opposed to swapping for cooldowns. So this is totally a thread about making Longbow 100% effective 100% of the time whether you want to admit it or not.

4) If you are camping longbow, you already have added survivability because you have a whole party tanking for you. At best, you could argue that they should increase the range on Spotter and spirits so that newb rangers don’t screw over their party even more by denying them a buff.

5) If you really knew how to play ranger, would this thread exist?

realistic ranger adjustments

Jermoe Morrow.9501

1. Signet of stone: I feel like 8 seconds of no dmg is a little excessive. 5 seconds is more than fair, and allows some counterplay. a dps class having to sit on its heels for 8 seconds is more than enough time for a zerker ranger to do serious damage.

I would be happy with them increasing it to this 8 seconds you speak of. Would be also nice if it were a stun break. And pretty much ever class has invulnerability skills, so who cares about ours on an incredibly long cool down

2. Rapid fire: I think the cast time should be SLIGHTLY increased, as well as adding 2-3 seconds to the recharge. As it stands now this skill is too spammable and most of the time just ends up being an I win button. Yes, I know reflect can be the best counter, but lets be honest, there are a Lot of specs out there that simply dont have reflect. and any decently aware person can cancel the cast, and turn around and use it again in 8 seconds, long before any reflect is off CD. There needs to be more counterplay.

The counter play is it is such an easily dodged skill, and anyone geared enough for it to be an “I win” button will probably melt if those dodges are towards the ranger.

3. Longbow Range bug: Everyone who has equipped a longbow and walked into the mists knows that the 1500 range tooltip is a lie. Actual range of the longbow varies from 1800 to around almost 1900 depending on terrain and other things. This needs to be fixed asap. Yes yes i know that projectiles carry on at an arc. The shortbow arrow arc was fixed to only allow about 900-950 range, I dont see why longbow should enjoy an extra 400 range.

Because it is a longbow? and Anet still says “Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows.” on the ranger class page? (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/ranger/). Sure the bulk of ranger is based towards fairly close range/meele play, but it makes sense to me that the longbow is our sniper weapon and that we out snipe most of the other classes with it. Of course, the other classes that come close do so with AoE compared to our single target, so I can’t really say it is particularly unbalanced.

Again I would like to reiterate that I am not coming here as another profession screaming nerf. I am, as a ranger with some integrity stating that I think the spec is too strong atm, and is too easy to play. Before you scream “Reflects!!! Dodge!!!! L2P NUB SOOOO MANY COUNTERS” at me, understand that I can and have countered the pew pew spec many times both as a ranger and as other classes. I just feel like its time to take the easy mode button away from the fairweathers and bandwagoners out there so that some of the other ranger specs can get the attention they need.

Longbow ranger is one of the most easily countered specs. You don’t even really need to build against it, since simply dodging can be enough. I don’t see this with other classes. The best you can say is that they are a sniper, so with perfect positioning against low skilled opponents, they can appear really awesome, but then they melt when you just walk up to them.

Beta feedback-Death by Jumping Mushroom

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Jermoe Morrow.9501

Jermoe Morrow.9501

The jumping mushroom was my second unlocked mastery, and from the first jump there were problems:

  • You can activate while not on mushroom, but jump will miss target
  • fall damage on many jumps
  • longer jumps on mushrooms, like the one from the frog pact camp to frog town lower platform were fatal from full health half the time.

I feel like some invulnerablity for the duration of the animation would fix the death and damage, but I’m not sure what to do about missing the jump if not on the mushroom.

Anyone else have these problems, or have solutions that worked during beta?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Heros turned GW1 into a single player game, and we already have a customizable home instance with NPCs somewhat populated from the personal story.

I assume this is a reference to that other mmo, where I watched a friend get excited because her NPCs had just RNGed her a ton of loot off screen. Think she was clicking the RNG button for 20 minuets while she interacted with 0 players on her massive MULTIPLAYER Online rpg.
