I got 100-0 on engi because I got immobed by a thief mid air, then perma immobed by mesmer/turret engi.
It’s fun having every single cooldown up but being able to use them and watching your charachter die.
And the thief told me “Don’t jump”, clearly it’s my fault for jumping.

My team has no sense of what pvp, I have a turret engi who sits on home and still manages to lose it 3 times in a 1v1 (to give an idea)

Besides the usual match ups, where people leave the mesmer to cap home and deal with 2v1s and still wipe mid, this one stands out as literally the worst matchmaking ever.
Im not even ranked on the leaderboards and I get matched with the full oRNG team?
Ranked Q, 23:30 GMT+1, Legacy of the foefire, this account on EU and I was solo.
Please fix your matchmaking so I can have more fun then give up on games because people double cap.

This update is a great setup to build a large base for pvp which has been lacking. I believe it will take some time to build up a new set of solid and experience players. In the meantime you need to learn the heard way by big losses. Get better. Get a team.
Yes because getting zerged/mowed down by 5 people at once that are on teamspeak most likely while you have pve heroes that can’t figure out the second exit of the base is a really fun and interesting learning experience!

The first 2 minutes of the game are probably the most important for setting your team up for victory. As silly as it sounds, taking 30 seconds to figure out where everyone is going to go right out of the gate is going to give your team the edge in those first engagements. The 0-0-5 splits, or the 0-0-0 5-man chieftain/svanir rush openings happen a bit too often, and are completely avoidable with a bit of education/discussion before the match begins.

Is there any way you can update the pvp tutorial with some of the tips mentioned above?
Currently it just goes over capping a point by standing in it, stomping and rezzing by pressing a button. It doesn’t mention any of the basic mechanics that the new population in pvp simply does not have at the moment.
Such as mentioned above can be a start to helping people on their way.
However right now they don’t know any better than to double cap points because nowhere they saw it doesn’t go any faster, or they know when the big buffs of temple spawn and they should leave side buffs alone unless they’re confident enough. (No one reads the texts before games either) Or stuff like looking at the map and not afk on one single point.
Please educuate your new players better on this stuff.

How can I have 10 games with decent enough teammates and then suddenly I get two Q pops where people double cap points, stomp people off points and just have no idea how the map works…
Today I log in and I get a beserker staff ele, a condi ele and a condi thief. Which to me sounds like a start of a bad joke. And the next game, I get the beserker staff ele again!
I sincerely doubt that this person, however brilliant they may be, are in my mmr.

Ever since the december 2nd patch, I have nothing but either bad games where people double cap, run around like headless chickens, don’t even understand basic rotations and die to the npc in forest.
It doesn’t matter how many games I win or lose or just go plain insane from the stupidity that I have to witness. It doesn’t improve at all in any shape or form or time frame.
If this is what esports it, then I want soloQ back.

All my characters are effected, though I can load into a different map but a dungeon map will return the same error on all of them.
Been getting this error code for several days now, since I have maploadinfo on – it gets stuck at state_map_agent_stream iirc.
Usually I’m fine up to a certain point when I try to load into a dungeon like Sorrows Embrace where it will freak out and return this error. Had it on AC and Plains of Ashford as well..

Automated Response makes player and up to 5 players within a 100000 radius permanently immune to conditions! In fact when players are afflicted with a condition, the afflict-er and anyone within a 100000 radius dies. Engineer’s team receives 499 points if playing tPvP. I really like this one too but it seems a little op.

When you start comebacks on temple with 200 points down, you hold 2 points with top buff and keep one point neut. I won a game like that when the team needed like 2 points to win.
When you come back on skyhammer again being 200 points down because I dced and win the game with a solid twocap neutral mid. (Yes I know its skyhammer but it still counts!)
Rushing into a neutral point to keep it neut so they dont get one more point or kill is also very fun :o
More recently I pulled off a 3v1 where I won the initial 1v1 against the dps guardian, engineer comes in just as the guard goes down and I popped my crate on top of them trying to rez. The guard almost gets up but the engi gets interrupted by my Big ol bomb, meanwhile my health is super low but I can finally chain my healing turret. Both engi and guard are down at this point and just as I somewhat gained health back the mesmer comes in and pops GS4 on me, which I barely dodged. He starts ressing the guardian, I lay down range cleave because my health is getting low again, mesmer backs off the rez for a sec and I get elixir S back to stomp out the engineer. Then mid-stomp I see 3 green names coming up the stairs and the mesmer portals out

IP is not the problem, it’s the runes of balthazar that make it considerably OP and put it on par with condition duration in WvW (with food) but only this time it’s in pvp without food.
Counterplay to IP? There isn’t much to be fair, you can’t dodge it because it will proc on the next thing that crits you dont dodge when it’s not on icd. From I know in engi vs engi fights with limited condi clears, I know that when I see that proc I have to condi cleanse immediately. Or I will be dead.
IP is the biggest source of damage for engineer to kill someone off, if you nerf it to even 2 seconds it takes a away a lot of damage of the condi engineer right now. Just because runes of the balthazar exist!
Change up strenght runes and balthazar runes…. I didn’t hear complaints about IP before the feature patch, so why now suddenly :/
There is a certain engi on NA that takes max advantage of this trait and is simply unbeatable 1v1 and also extremely useful at mid fight. Gives his team super easy victories.
So yes, this trait has to be nerfed.

People get so upset when they lose, it’s hilarious.

Those are limited to two tiers per day, if you want to keep ranking it up you’ll have to go into arenas (solo/team) for that day.

The confusion for me came from the ready up stream, I think Grouch said several times they feature patch would take place in march.
Now they make a distinction between maintenance and feature patch, which wasn’t clear when they announced those kinds of patches. So miscommunication how those patches would work is my guess.

Nothing anet has said suggests that the 18th was the date for the patch. That was made up by the community and allowed to flourish by anet for some reason

I 100% guarantee you it’s part of the 18th of march patch. They have given this date over and over again, putting up a Faq about glory removal doesn’t change anything about that.

The new reward system is down the road, with no real ETA given at this stage.

You have to keep in mind that the CDI’s can only really start to take affect 3 to 4 months after them. Since content developed during that time will not have had the summarised feedback from our part in it.
That’s one of the reason the living world has seen such an improvement after new year, because they got to implement our feedback.
We already have two chances to discuss patch notes concerning balance changes so I’m not sure to what you are referring here.

The supposed patch notes for the feature patch are fake, confirmed by multiple devs on this forum. They were made out to be real since they included changes the devs already previewed on the ready up stream.
Balance changes are still coming 18th of march.

How are people confused by this? They already stated multiple times the 18th of march is the feature patch with balance.
List of things patch on the 18th of march includes:
- Balance changes already listed previously on the forums (not the leaked ones) with more to come
- Sigil revamp
- Runes revamp
- Ferocity stat replacing critical damage (no change in pvp)
- Increased rank points across entire pvp (no # given yet)
- Glory being removed completely from the reward system
- Rank vendors removed
- No more tournament win chests since they will award rank points at the end of the game (with this bypassing the region bug when transferring between NA & EU)
- The fix for the pvp titles where tournament points would not count towards the achievement and make progress slower than it should be. (retroactive fix)
What does it not include?
- The new reward system for pvp because that comes at a later stage
- The ability to copy your pvp look into pve/WvW
This is as far as my knowledge goes what that big feature patch entails. It’s not a new PvE storyline, it’s QoL update.

There is no ETA given for the rewards revamp patch other than “down the road”.
The chests are being removed entirely from the game on the 18th. Rank points will be awarded at the end of the game, there will be no more rank vendors to get chests from.

Well Grouch already told us on a previous stream it would be wise to open up your chests you currently get from tourneys. For luck/armours/salvage materials.
They repeated today you should open chests/make armours/dyes/Weapons.
They won’t remove the chests from your inventory, you just won’t get any anymore.

Decap engi in soloQ does not work when you push far right off the bat and continue to do it right from spawn. Unless you help out where needed, you’re killing your own team.
People pushing far ALL game long does not work if the other team catches on to what you do.

By pushing far the whole match, you’re locking down at least one person on their close point in order to keep it contested, even two if they want their node back.If they just leave you there ignoring you, you can just go to another node and decap it.
Either you got free points or you are forcing the enemy team fight outnumbered on other nodes or you’re getting a decap or even a full cap out of a defended node. In all cases, you win.
The only way to counter an engi decapper is to send a double stability warrior to defend the node, but it’s like countering an OP build with an even more OP build, which is kinda stupid.
I saw a decap engi push far all game on khylo against an MM necro, never got the decap and always got killed by a thief roaming between mid and home.
You don’t need double stability warriors if you blatantly outplay the engi.
And if the opposite team can flip the map to avoid the decap engi, you have a 4v5 while the engi sits on a point.

So on Edge of the mists, I noticed retaliation started to hit pretty kitten hard in bigger fights. And because of this I compared the damage it does on regular borderlands to what it does on EOTM. (based on the same power stat which is 1917, no bonuses)
On a borderland it hits for around 227.
On EOTM it hits for around 342.
On EOTM it hits like in PvE and calculates correctly to the formula found on the wiki page (198.45 + (0.075 * Power))
Is this change intended for this new map because it’s not regular wvw? Or this a bug?
And for the record confusion is still the same on the new map, works like on every other borderland.

Well the first idea behind PvP and high ranks was that you had the gear to show off your high ranking.
That changed with the glory vendor, but they are changing their reward system which will see more updates in the feature patch.

They never said this patch would contain balance changes. They mentioned several times it’s part of a big feature patch coming in march.
It’s a new system they are using, to make the distinction between living world stuff & features in games (e.g. balance, new ferocity stat, sigil changes)

Main issue with this heal is the long cooldown for a small heal if you don’t get deadly damage. And the no condi clear, but that’s a general issue with engineers.
In PvP you can easily counterplay this heal by stopping the attack as soon as you see the icon pop up, switch targets and refocus engi after he popped. The engineer has nothing left and will die because of it. Even 1v1 situations on side nodes this heal won’t be effective due to the counterplay.
In PvE, it’s handy for carrying the orb of light in Arah dungeon, insta 12k heal. It’s useful for situations where you get overwhelmed as well.
I am not entirely sure where it stands in WvW.
The concept is good, there is an active counterplay to it but this puts the engineer itself in problems with such a small heal and no real utility.

Initially you were locked into a character and even when you tried to swap/log out, you couldn’t enter the game with any other character except the one you started with.
Now since it seemed to cause some sort of bug within the system, the devs decided to pull the locking system until they can properly fix that. So now you can swap between characters in games. You don’t have a chance to change traits/utilities if you do though.

I have two questions that I think desperately need to be answered:
What is the justification for…
- Forcing PvP only players to level characters in PvE that they don’t like (I have one level 80, all of my alts are low level PvP characters) just so that they can unlock the new heals/utilities? This completely goes against everything GW2 has stood for in terms of skill > gear by giving everyone equal equipment and stats from the word go.
I just wanted to add here, the tomes of knowledge will give you skill points if your character is level 80. You’re not necessarily being forced to do pve, besides once the new healing skill is unlocked in either aspect of the game it’s unlocked everywhere.
On the subject of the new glory vendors…
Will there be items to gain rank points from those? Like with drop/thimble/keg of liquid world experience in WvW. This would be a nice boost to gain rank points and see some progress. Or it can drop from the tourney/rank chests.
To add to this, is there a possibility daily/monthly chests will contain rank points, like the ones in pve do? (ie exp/karma)

Tournament chests: Two questions here
1) Will the bug when transferrring between EU/NA be fixed so you don’t lose any chests in the transfer with these updates?
2) You mentioned in state of the game on 6th of september that the chests will be less rng so you there is more point to them and you actually get useful stuff. Can you explain if the chests will be changed somewhat or remain the same with the gear update.
Skyhammer farm: These people have gained a lot of glory, my worry is this might damage the economy even more with so many people having that much glory to exchange to gold. Is there a limit on the exchange rate and will skyhammer farmers be addressed in any shape or form?
Removing ranks: I’m not sure what brought this forward, but is there a way we can still achieve phoenix and/or dragon rank after this update for the finisher or is this limited to divisions?
