I took a break for a few months but want to start raiding again. I’ve completed
Vale Guardian
Gors
Stronghold
Mursaat
Samarog
Cairn
I mostly play necro, but I also have use ele since it’s generally in higher demand. I have level 80 classes for:
Necro, Ele, Theif, Ranger, Mesmer, Rev
Hi! I am interested in applying but am having issues with the website. Would you be able to message me in game or through my inbox?
Thank you for the information! I was actually just looking into Viper gear. Acquiring it is very confusing. It seems that the easiest way is to just level crafting and make everything?
I’ve always rotated between classes. Master of none. Want to finally “main” a class and really invest into it.
I’m debating Mesmer, Ele, Necro.
Mesmer was my first class. Love it technically but it just seems boring for some reason and squishy. I just spam 1 on my GS after my clones are up.
Ele: Also squishy but cant deal crazy damage i think. Bad for soloing content though?
Necro: Seems to be good at everything and can solo..
Opinions? I’m leaning towards Necro, but maybe ele since I have more into my ele and just know it better. Any pros or cons of each class in the current state of the game?
Hello, my name is Justin and I am coming back from a pretty long break. I took a long break, played HoT for a month, ankitten ow coming back to fully commit. Anyway, like the title states, I am pretty much down to do any content. I love WvW the most, but I’ve heard it’s a little dead. But I also love sPvP, and PvE content although I will be rusty.
I’m looking for a slightly mature guild that is pretty organized. For me, a guild is really what makes or break GW2. The right guild makes playing such a blast when there are cool people to chat with.
So since I’m back from a break, I really don’t know too much about classes or how to play well for the time being. I am hoping to relearn fast so I can be useful
I have never had a “Main” technically. I swap a lot depending on what was needed. I currently have:
Mesmer
Ele
Necro
Ranger
Thief
Revenant
I TEND to play my ele the most since it stomps in pve, but I really would love to “main” my mesmer since it was my first character.
I have a mic and don’t mind using voice chat one bit. Prefer it actually. I also prefer Discord, but I’m not sure if most GW2 players still use TS3 lol. Either is fine
Anywho, if you’re remotely interested in picking up this newb while he relearns, let me know! Simply post below or message me with info about your guild.
I’m also on Jade Quarry at the moment but would possibly consider transferring. I’m not sure if it’s still a populated server or not.
Hello! My name is Justin and I’m looking to find a very nice guild to be a part of. I will tell you a little about me and what I am really wanting in a guild below.
So I have been playing for almost three years now pretty casually. I just started getting into ascended crafting after all these years. I genuinely partake in all content in GW2. I do sPvP, WvW (not quite as much anymore, but can get into with the right group), fractals, dungeons, farming, and attempting raids (I blame my friends for being scrubs haha xD). I have TS. I am a last semester senior in college so at times, I CAN become busy and go missing, but that’s just life. Overall, I just like to have a fun time. It can be try hard, casual, goofy.. Heck, all at the same time!
In a guild, I really just want something that is actually active and cares about it’s members. If I am just another number among the other “400 members”, then please don’t bother. To me, guilds are more about knowing one another and cooperating to make the entire system flow well. Guilds that are tyrannical can be a drag. So equality for all right? Exactly.
Basically, any guild that is genuine, active, and has a sense of humor (I joke way too much guys).
Anyway, please feel free to message me either on the forums, private message, or in game! Hope to hear from you soon!

I keep seeing tons of post about the new classes and specs.. How are they able to play them?
Just got back to the game from a 2 year break. I used to be pretty experienced but am having to relearn all my skills etc so it’ staking some time.
About Me:
I love working with teammates to accomplish goals. I take direction well and am a follower. I don’t have a “main”. Never have. I rotate between Ele, Mesmer, thief, and necro as needed. I would say I am most skilled (WvW wise) with thief and ele. Then mesmer and necro.
I also play fractals and spvp (more spvp). I’m basically a PVX, but I do put more emphasis on WvW at times. Then sPvP/dungeons depending on if I need some gold.
For pve (dungeons), I can run just about any class and be fine.
I am able to use voice chat.
In a guild: I’m looking for a guild that is ACTIVE and has friendly members. Please don’t link me a guild that has 200 members but only 1 member actively reps.. Doesn’t count lol. It doesn’t have to be a large guild either. 15-20 people is great imo for WvW. I don’t typically enjoy zerging unless I feel like glass cannon’ing.
Also, (for WvW) I am looking for a guild that communicates well while running. They don’t just spread out and panic when an encounter happens. Instead they follow the leader etc. and know what role to play.
I’m definitely up for learning as I go. A LOT has changed since I have been away so it will take me some time and I will probably need help with viable builds now, but I am looking forward to it
(This may sound picky, but I’m super relaxed haha. Just want to succeed also )
Timezone: EST. Usually on at night since I go to college.
(edited by Justin.5231)
yes, see either of my builds in my signature. both are more then capable at WvW.
Also, ESO on the PC is much much better then on a console. Also as you upgrade hardware and your OS’s you get better support (DX12 for example), something that consoles will never see.
Thanks! For the i5 build, (since the i7 one is way overbudget), does it matter if I go with the Radeon 270 vs buying a better graphics card if I can afford to? Or is it not really worth it?
I have an hp laptop atm and have palyed GW2 on it for probably three years. BUT about 7 months ago, it started this overheating problem and now I literally can’t play GW2, WoW, Runescape, anything like that for more than five minutes without the laptop becoming extremely hot and shutting off (even with a fan).
Anyway, I am craving this game so, so bad because nothing compared to the WvW and team experience imo. (Although I am really considering buying ESO for ps4).
Does anyone know a decent desktop build that would be able to at least let me PLAY the game lol. (Preferabbly enough to run smoothly in large WvW fights.) I do not neeed something that cost a billion dollars and has ultra settings… But just something that can play very intense WvW on a medium-maybe high setting? I just want to be able to play again
*I know absolutely nothing about how computers work but I read that GW2 relies on CPU usage. That’s all I know.
If anyone would know a great desktop build on a site somewhere, OR could even just provide me a list of exactly what parts to buy for each thing, that would be awesome
Price isn’t a huge factor, but I don’t really want to spend more than 1k. If it’s under that, then that’s fantastic
Thanks for all the input everyone, really! It has been helpful so far… I may try to just clean my laptop fan then for now until I can really get a nice desktop. And I don’t have to play on max settings at all. I NEVER have (bc of my crap laptop), so I’m already used to the low settings My laptop just lagged terribly and then the overheating problem started after I binge played WoW and GW2 last summer.
It’s weird though, because my friend has an identical laptop and it runs great on his O_O
At least 1k O_O Oh lawd. I have that much… But since I’m in college without a job thats practically all of my money.. Hmm. To game or not..
Oh, nah. I meant around 600 for the parts of the desktop aside from things like the monitor and operating system.. I’ve heard it’s possible to make decent ones around that price but maybe not for GW2? This game is pretty intensive on graphics.. I’m dying not being able to play it lol :/
Hey everyone! So I didn’t really see a section this would fit in, so I just placed it here. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone knows a good desktop or something that would be able to run guild wars 2 (especially WvW large group fights) and decent fps so there isn’t lag. Right now my current laptop is shot, so it overheats after playing for maybe 10 mins..
I’m willing to spend about 600 dollars to build one also, but I don’t know what parts to get entirely since I know some parts have to match up…
Hey! I’m looking for a small-medium sized guild (10-40 ish *active members). I used to be in a guild that ran around 15 so I am used to that number and feel like it’s great since you actually have to rely on your skill still instead of spamming 1. I also really enjoy smaller havoc groups as well. Basically anything except full zerging unless it it critical for our team.
I have TS and Ventrillo.
I used to play WvW non stop but have recently gotten heavily into PvE and dungeon runs, so I may be a bit rusty with wvw builds.
My current 80s are Mesmer, Ele, Thief, Necro. Working on a ranger right now and plan to make an engineer and guardian at some point.
I’m looking for something that is slightly casual, but still dedicated. I am in college so I cannot promise to be on regularly throughout the week since my workout changes often. But for the most part, weekends are a definite yes.
If you think your guild would be something I am interested in, then PLEASE either send me mail in game, whisper or post here. Thanks a lot!

The idea of having some sort of quest alongside dailies seems different, but doable. Right now dailies are pretty monotonous as it is. Change would be nice.
EDIT: Found a wonderful guild. Thank you everyone!
(edited by Justin.5231)
Ah thank you so much!! I was looking for either pvp or pve.
Could someone tell me the traits for both of those? :O I would love you forever haha
I have seen many different builds claiming to be strong, zerk, power builds for necros. I’ve tested some and get really low damage on some.
Is there a build that is basically the general consensus of being “the” necro zerker build/traits at the moment?
I originally heard 0/4/5/5/0 was best, traiting in well things mostly. But it doesn’t make sense to me to not use the spite line at all since it’s power…
But just curious, since I am new to necro
Why would perplextiy runes be the best choice? I run those on my condi mesmer, but that’s because he can apply confusion. Necro doesn’t have access to confusion…. Do we? O_o
I just levelled my necro to 80 in order to use it for a guilds small 5-10man group in wvw. However, I have NO idea what type of build I should use and armor/weapons/trinkets.
Someone had mentioned doing Dire armor and dire or rabid trinkets I think to just rely heavily on conditions.
However, I’m not sure if a hybrid between power and condition is better?
I’m basically debating full dire or something like rabid or carrion with dire or zerk? Could any experienced necros help a newb necro out?
Again, this is for 5-10 man groups that typically can fight and win larger groups of around 15-20 sometimes.
I would really appreciate either telling a full build here, or linking one on those sites. I know staff is a must at least. I am leaning towards more of a power/condi hybrid build bc conditions can be cleansed so easily now..
Thanks. I went and looked at them, but now am a little confused on stacking. Is there a big difference in stacking intensity vs duration? I think I understand duration more, but intensity doesn’t make much sense from the wiki.
Lets say I put three stacks of torment on someone, then I use another skill that puts 4 stacks. Does that mean it will be ten stacks, and will just basically do more damage, with the higher the stack?
I looked at my maim of the disillusioned trait earlier today and it says base damage is around 550. If moving, the damage is around 1k. However, when I tested this on the spvp class NPC, i never got anywhere near 1k dmg for torment.
At some points, I would have 10 stacks of torment but it still only hit for 3-500 even when they were moving. Is the description just wrong, or is it just doing it as two separate attacks like 500, 500 (if they move). Or should I be seeing torment: 1000, when they are moving?
Hmmm. Any ideas?
I’m trying to test out different builds for a group condition mesmer that focuses on torment, bleed, confusion, and possibly fire.
If anyone has some time, could you look at this and just give feedback. I’m not sure how much condition damage we need to be very effective. One thing I tested was taking out deceptive evasion and getting the trait for converting toughness to condi damage which took it up to 2300 or so. But in fight, it was harder to have a constant supply of clones out to shatter for conditions.
I’ve also thought about doing carrion for vitality or dire for condition, vit, and tough. I’m not sure if precision and power are really needed if I’m supposed to be putting out conditions a lot.
Another big question is the runes.. There are so many different runes for conditions and I jsut can’t decide which is best. In this setup, I went with undead for the toughness stacking and converting into condition damage, but maybe using runes that go towards specific debuffs is better like rune of tormenting/perplexity?
(edited by Justin.5231)
I personally think it’s an awesome buff. We currently only have 2 ways of applying torment: Scepter 2 (hoping they attack us when we use it) and a grandmaster trait. So we really don’t have that many ways of applying a really cool condition in my opinion. I think it will be a lot more fun and give people a reason to use scepter more often. I have ran scepter for a long time anyway, so I am glad one of my main weapons just happens to be getting an extra effect.
Hi, I am struggling with a great condi build on my mesmer. There are a LOT of different train lines that offer different types of conditions, so I’m not sure which lines and conditions are best to focus on.
Here is a link to simply see my traits easily and weapons. (I couldn’t figure out how to add armor).
Right now I’m running Full rabid with perplexity runes
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fhAQNAW7flknpUttqxQNUrRCqxYuZQ1XkMiAKbIfD
The main thing I try to keep up is confusion and torment when I can. But if there is a better traiting for me that will do more DOT, please let me know I am currently running with a group that wants me to focus on mainly being able to load the enemies with conditions from a distance.
EDIT: Also wondering if it is worth putting 6 into illusions for Maim trait. Torment is pretty awesome (I think?) and being one of the two classes that can apply it, is it worth using?
Thanks!!
Ok, so I’ve got a couple of questions, and then a couple of general pointers.
First, where are you using this build? WvW roaming/zerging/tPvP? That matters enormously as to how you should be aiming your build.
Now, in general, confusing enchantments is NEVER worth getting unless you’re WvW zerging…and even then it’s questionable since the Great Confusion Nerf. Basically, confusion doesn’t do enough damage to warrant building for in any way, shape, or form, so it’s just not worth taking.
Additionally, you have no stunbreak in that build. That’s not ok unless you’re playing PvE, and even then it’s not advisable. You need some sort of stunbreak, and normally that will be either blink or decoy.
Next, you need to decide whether you want to be aimed towards clone-deaths or shatters. You’ve got rending shatter, but then you have both confusing combatants and debilitating dissipation. Shatters and clone-deaths don’t work well together, so you want to be choosing one or the other to focus on.
Now, in general condition shatter just isn’t very good. There’s a lot of issues with it, but they’re primarily centered around the fact that you end up with little to no cover conditions, allowing your opponents to counter your burst with just a single condition removal, on top of countering it through dodging/blocking the shatters (while clone-deaths are undodgeable and unblockable). For this reason, I’d strongly advise against going with Maim, even in its buffed form.
Lastly, if you want to list armor and such, you’ll need to change the build editor to WvW mode, which can be done with the buttons at the top right.
Hi, thank you for your detailed response! Yes, I should have mentioned that my build would be for WvW. Mostly used in either 5man groups or up to 15. So, a little on the small scale side of things.
Two things I would like to ask about:
1) Shatter vs Killed: Which do you think is better to use? My logic was that most clones don’t have much life, so in group fights, when they AOE, bam, conditions. But if there aren’t a lot of heavy aoe, I could still shatter for other effects. I have tested it much, but I thought it would work. Maybe not though. I’m no mesmer expert or even close.
2)When you said confusion is basically not worth traiting for a lot, but neither is torment (the grandmaster trait), do you have any alternative? I thought those were the mesmers two biggest conditions that they can apply to enemies?
Thanks for the help! Would it be smart to use superior runes of tormenting instead? Still boost condi and major boost to torment?

Can someone please link a guide or explain a setup where stealth and inititive aren’t a problem? I tried using this guide and I end up with 2 init after I stealth and can never do anything :/
This may seem strange asking on these forums, but I was wondering if there is another site that uses forums a lot for GW2 to find groups or guilds as well? I’ve noticed on here, that a thread will get SO many views, but literally not one post, which is very disheartening. So I guess I’m just hoping that the majority of the community is involved in a separate forum somewhere? (For example, I know a lot of players from WoW use MMO Champ or something like that).
Hello Justin,
Welcome back to the game, you might wanna specify what Time zone you are looking for.
Oh, I forgot about that. I’m a NA player on the East Coast, but really anytime works. I usually play very late into the night. When school starts back, I will be on mostly around 8pm or later.
Hi! I’m Justin, and I have recently come back to GW2 after a break of maybe 7 months or so? The last time I played, we had just elected some lady to be the leader of a town through ballots. Anyway, I am (was) an experienced wvw player and would love to get back into it with a close knit group that works well together.
What I’m looking for:
- Small teams to roam or infiltrate on a smaller scale
- Friendly group
- Willing to help (Since I’ve been gone a while)
I can offer:
- Taking directions well and working in a group
Classes:
- Mesmer
- Ele (staff heal or d/d)
- Thief
I would really enjoy doing small things with a group on my thief. It would be cool to roam and raid with other thieves, but I’m open to whatever comes my way.
Thanks!
Oh thanks!! Do you know a good place to get those claws from?
This is my first time trying to make an ascended backpiece, and I’ve realized that it is extremely expensive, just for +50 stats or so.
The quiver needs 250 Vials of powerful blood, which turns out to be a LOT of gold.
Does anyone know if it is cheaper to actually try to upgrade the lower tier blood vials into 250 of the powerful? I’ve never really learned a lot about upgrading mats, but have done it once or twice just to make a profit..
25/30/0/0/15 (http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/84546-the-perfect-dps-thief-build/) will give incredibly high backstabs, with no defense from traits. You’d probably want to run different utilities in WvW, but hey.
Food is important, I use T6 Sharpening Stones and 100 Power/70 Precision food.
You should definitely try to get Scholar Runes, since with no defense you’ll probably be at 100% health or dead.
Stack up Bloodlust to 25, then swap to a Force/Accuracy or Force/Night (Obviously, at night).
A 10k backstab would, for my thief (full exotic/ascended everything) be against a relatively bulky Engineer or Ranger. I’ve gotten 14k on glass warriors, bad Rangers have seen upwards of 16k, and recently I killed an uplevel ele 100-0% with a single Cloak and Dagger.
Which utilities do you typically use in WvW? And which foods? I didn’t see one that he listed that gave power and prec.
(edited by Justin.5231)
Hi there!! I’ve been looking into trying to make the strongest thief possible, regardless of how glassy it is, as I already have a survival build.
I’ve seen some people get up to 10k backstabs on people in WVW and I’m just wondering what would be optimal to get numbers like that?
I run Full Berzerker armor and trinkets (My armor has ruby orbs)
I’m not sure which runes to get, or if that will even make a big difference.
Weapons:
Bow: Bloodlust
Dagger:Force
Pistol:Accuracy
My crit damage is 104 at the moment
Crit chance is around 55
But I still can’t seem to hit over a 7k BS or heartseeker
I’m new to trying to even go for a legendary, but I know the MF is a veryyy bad and low chance, but what the heck. I just want to try a few times.
But if I’m wanting the precursor for incenerator, do I need to throw in rare/exotic daggers, or does the wepon type not matter?
LuRk, do you know of any places that I could find that build that you mentioned?
I fought a thief the other day who was only going after Yaks, but I could NOT kill him, because he was all over the map. He would mug or something, then retreat, shadowstep, disappear. He constantly* had a way to shadowstep or something VERY far away from me. He kept doing quick burst on his target yaks like Jumps in, attacks, back out, then repeated until he killed it. There was at least 6 of us chasing him and we couldn’t get him.
Sooo, I’m really wondering if anyone knows of a setup that would allow this sort of in and out burst technique? I want to try it so bad because it is slow, but very effective and trollish :p
Quakeman, what are your traits for the 20,20,30 setup? I know the typical setups for 10,30,30 but not that one.
Would anyone be able to give me any general tips? I have no clue what I’m dong wrong..
I tried fighting a necro in WvW, and couldn’t really do much, but then two more people came and completely demolished me
I’ve seen vids of people that do great with d/d..
I know the typical rotation.. Im just not sure if its bc I dont have exotics or what.. Im scared to waste the laurels just to find out that it doesnt help with anything..
I am currently on the Blackgate server and am looking for a guild that focuses on either dungeons or just PvE in general. I would hope that if it is a dungeon focused guild, that I would not need to transfer since you can join parties.
(I also love WvW and do that with another guild).
So rep 100% of the time is not an option either.
If your guild fits with what I am looking for, please post it or send me a message, thanks !
Typically anywhere from 5-25 players per team or so…
Medium I would say
So I’ve been playing for about 4 months now and just don’t feel that I really help out much when it comes to WvW..
I play on a Mesmer and Ele mostly, but do some with thief but it’s mainly roaming.
I’m not sure if it’s just all in my mind, but with Mesmer and Ele I don’t feel like I contribute much to a fight…
I use ele a lot for area heals to keep the team up, but other than that… Meh.
I’ve thought about doing a d/d or fresh air build because I love those, and maybe just snipe out people when we get into a brawl..
But am I just playing the wrong classes?
I made a necro a few days ago to try it..
I typically like range classes/magical
So what do you guys think brings a lot to a group in WvW (Not Zerg vs Zerg, just smaller encounters).
Nevermind, I got it to work
I made an Asura Necro and cannot figure out how to start it’s storyline.. I went to Metrica Provence, following the green star that leads you to your next area, and I talked to the guy who always tells you to press ‘M’ to see you map. And after that, nothing… There is not a green star showing where to go or anything now…
Hello,
My name is Justin and I have been playing on JQ since I got this game, which has only been about four months. I play WvW everyday and am/was in a guild that runs in there all the time, but I just want something different, personal reasons.
Anyway, if your guild is recruiting, is fun, and is not exclusive to new members, please let me know
Thanks!!
PS: I typically play Mesmer and Staff Ele for heals. But also run a thief.
[EDIT] Like I said, I am on JQ, but I am definitely willing to transfer if your guild seems like a good fit. I am really wanting something different.
(edited by Justin.5231)
Yeah, I’m still having trouble with timing it just right.. I still cant do it lol. Goodness. But I’ve never heard of the phase retreat method.. That would be cool also.
