welcome to the club I also only miss my precursor, everything else rests in my bank. I have also dumped 280 lvl76 exotics and about 200 lvl80 rares into MF…then I gave up

Let them first fix the existing ones and introduce a new way of obtaining precursors…also, I wouldn’t expect new legendary weapons any time soon, my guess is that they’re gonna add more ascended items first.

The chance to get a precursor from Orr mobs is extremely small. A bit better drop chance is from chests you get for killing dragons or capturing temples in Orr. However, the fastest (but still very unreliable) way is gambling in the MF.

That’s not true!
Legendaries certainly don’t lack effect due to the possibility of colliding effects, because there are already several combinations that would break this rule – like combinations of axe, sword and dagger..

Don’t use lvl80 exotics unless you’re very rich and you want your precursor fast…lvl76 exotics or lvl80 rares are much better, because you almost don’t lose any money (by selling lvl80 exotics you get).

The thing is…every single boss, event and chest have already been done hundred times…so if the chance to get the weapon from a specific event is reasonable, someone would already have it. If it really is in game and nobody has it yet, then is must be tied to multiple conditions…like that it only drops if all the temples are uncontested or something like that

Are you guys running the mark of blood dodge talent? Because I never managed to dodge out of the bubble with my necro…I always just bounce back inside, luckily necro can survive the bubble by using DS.

Combining exotics in MF has a lot larger chance of getting you a precursor…it seems that you get the precursor from rares only when they would otherwise give you an exotic…but when you combine exotics, you always get an exotic.

As a necro you’d probably be running a standard conditionmancer build and you can basically do two things in the dungeons – either a support who’s taking care of all conditions on your team (you can cure them, send them to your target and you can also corrupt boons on your target) or an epidemic AoE-heavy build (epidemic spreads conditions from your current target to everyone around = a waterfall of numbers on your screen).
Basically, necromancers shine in encounters with lots of enemies, are quite fine with single target but are beyond useless for destroying structures (all you have is 30 seconds of lich form).
Never played thief though, so can’t help you there…

Things I’d like to see changed in current dungeons (some of them were already mentioned):

  • Reviewing HP of certain bosses – for example final bosses of HotW (all paths) and CoF 3
  • Introducing more phases in boss fights – if you don’t like to decrease the hp because of some well organized groups. at least give the bosses several phases so that the fights aren’t just 15 minutes of boredom
  • Reviewing the length and difficulty of certain paths compared to other paths of the same dungeon – again, HotW (first path is twice as fast as the rest) and CoF (third path is extremely unfriendly for a pug). I don’t ask you to nerf them, but perhaps introduce scaling rewards – the longer a path on average is, the more tokens we get
  • Story modes as an introduction to dungeons – I haven’t done many story modes since I finished them all, but I’d rally like to see storymode dungeons (especially AC and CM) made more noob-friendly and scaled to low-lvl groups with bad gear, with difficulty increasing in the following storymodes. This should hopefully encourage more ppl to run dungeons and get experienced before switching to explorables
  • Some fast ideas at the end: Show the current difficulty level of players in the group when entering FotM – it always takes us a while to figure out who’s lying about their lvl; personalized dps meter – I want to know how to optimize my spell rotation, that’s all I’m asking for; reveal current magic find to other partymembers – MF is an extremely selfish stat and other players in the group should know who’s the leecher they have to carry

there should be a system that enables players to revive guys that can’t for some reason be ressed. Like a wp that only activates out of combat or when other living party members open a gate or something…

You guys don’t understand… I seriously have a problem with jump puzzles… I think I have a serious problem with depth perception.

sorry to hear that, but in that case I’d recommend you to kill all the harpies first, get out of the combat, position yourself right onto the edge of the platform and either make a simple jump or press space and immediately after that both mouse buttons. That should work in every single jump in that puzzle

I LOVE the fractals…I’ve seen 4 (but finished just two due to leavers) so far and they all seem really fun and smart. I hope that all the bugs with ressing, finding a substitute for a leaver and getting ppl into the same instance will eventually get fixed, but so far I feel like we’re on a right track!

and more importantly, it should be possible to invite other ppl into the group to fill a sport of a leaver… especially when some of the fractals can be done in 3 ppl and others can’t (the jungle one with collecting whisps…it might be possible but REALLY hard). If someone dies right the beginning of a fractal and he doesn’t want to wait for the rest of the group to finish the fractal without him and leaves instead, it might be possible to go on only to find out that the last of the three is impossible to complete :-/

Unless the chance to roll a precursor more than doubled in the patch, prices are going to be the same, if not worse in the future.

Nah, just wait for the market to calm down and the prices will surely go down. Not only will the supply of precursors increase due to the higher chance of success, but the supply of rares and exotics has also increased (they now drop in world events and dungeons).

The problem is that many players right now have already finished the race and ate the carrot. The only thing left is a legendary, which in its current form is an equivalent of “Oh, you’ve done all the epic stuff like WvW, dungeons, exploration etc? Cool, now the final step – farm the same event chain over and over again and after a month you might have enough gold to finish it”.

I don’t think that a treadmill or power creep is necessary, but there should definitely be some form of long-lasting incentive (that won’t make you feel like shooting your brainz out).

Why does everyone think that the precursor will be “easier” to get? Now it’s a pure luck-based system. Actually it can’t get much easier than throwing 4 rares into the MF and having a lot of luck. And it can’t get more annoying than farming Plinx for 150 hours.

I for one hope that it’s gonna be still really hard, but less painful – for example giving it as a reward for the dungeon master achievement. Just don’t make me farm 250 lodestones, 500k karma or 300g kitten

I really like to look at the new items as an incentive to go to the new dungeon and try to get as far as possible. I’m quite happy with my current look so I really lack any motivation to do the current dungeons, perhaps only for the achievement. If the new items will be special in other way than a new skin (sorry, but I never really liked Barbie the fashion model), I’m definitely looking forward to it.

I’m actually really happy about this, considering that the new armor won’t be too much better (like more than +5% in stats). Even now everyone can do anything in rare armor just as well as in exotic, so please cut the “mandatory” and “treadmill” bs. There will finally be a goal in PVE other than the legendary weapons.

That’s bullkitten…necros, rangers, warriors and others can equip combinations of Bolt, Incinerator and Frostfang even though all of them have a footprint effect….considering that the Eternity was not finished (the devs admitted that it’s lackluster), I’d say that some of the worse legendaries might also get some love in the future

Yeah this can be really annoying. Similar issue is (or at least was) Kudu’s golem who heals by consuming conditions. Try killing him with 3 necros who all have autobleed :-/ Just give us an option to switch off minor traits and it should be fine

It’s a bit sad, but again, anyone rational (from a theoretical point of view) will never take part in such a trade, because it’s always better for both parties to scam (as long as there is no viable punishment). You’d either need to find a way to punish the scamming player (like a ban) or repeat the transaction multiple times (the profit from future trades would have to be higher than the profit you get from scamming/deviating).

I’m afraid that according to the game theory, there is no way that this trade could happen, unless you find a way to punish a deviating player (for not sending the weapon/money). The only way would be to repeat the trade infinite number of times

Actually the world first Moot was sent to a lvl40 character. But it’s still a lvl80 weapon, so he had to lvl up before he could equip it…

today the karma DR was kicking my butt like crazy…first time after getting 6k karma (without booster), then after I took 15 minutes off it kicked in after another 5k etc etc. In my 3 hours of farming I’ve spent about 45 minutes just waiting…

I think that the recipe can craft either the scepter or the shield. But the demand for the shield is much higher, so the price of the scepter (an “unwanted byproduct”) on TP is actually lower than the cost of the materials….therefore it’s much better to simply buy it.

Well guys, you gotta look at it this way. You get what you worked for, and I don’t mean that in a sense of reward equals effort. I mean that in a sense of reward matches its intended use.

Its an off-hand weapon, and can’t be equipped in any other position. So what most people haven’t seemed to factor in is : What happens when I equip two legendaries with clashing auras or effects? I’m very curious the answer to this myself. Such as a bolt AND incenerator for a thief. Which footsteps?? or both??

But in wondering so, I can’t help but to think that for example, the sceptre is a main hand weapon, and main hand only, where as dagger is both off and main hand and can be equipped at the same time as a sceptre…so if both had footsteps, which would you see? Or is there something implemented that in the case of clashing effects the main hand weapon rules out? But in this scenario we don’t have to worry about that because, sceptre doesn’t have footsteps.

I really think it was kind of logic if you sit down and think about it, why some weapons have more effects than others. And that’s simply due to the mechanics of each professions ability to equip either in main hand and off hand and maybe ANET was having problems with them clashing.

Not saying that this Minstrel shouldn’t have more amazing effects, but after all, that’d prob be the extent of it, amazing particle effects.

Necromancers can have axe in main hand and dagger in off hand – both of them have footstep effect so there would be a clashing of these two effects. I don’t think that this is the reason for some legendaries being so plain, perhaps they just didn’t expect us to get them so fast (in warhammer online players got to the final instance before the devs finished it – so they had to have a GM manually syncing their IDs :-D, this might be something similar).

I’d very much appreciate a possibility to disable minor traits, mainly for their counter-productiveness in some dungeon encounters.

As a necro, it has happened to me twice that a boss has been made much more difficult by my own minor traits – 1st one was one of Kudu’s golems in SE story (it heals itself by consuming conditions and one of my minor traits applies bleeds on crit) and 2nd one is Giganticus Lupicus (who tends to summon grubs under my jagged horrors, these minions can’t be controlled and I can’t prevent them from staying in the melee range of the boss).

1) depends on the dungeon and your group…average would be 1h I guess, some dungeons might take over 2h though (like Arah) while some can be done in less than 30min.
2) depends on the dungeon, some are rather easy, some are really hard…but there is clearly a learning curve, once you run through the content you’ll be dying less and less
3) dunno, just bring enough vitality/tougness (there are almost no dps races, no enrage timers etc.) and try to support your team as much as you can
4) the chests that spawn after killing certain bosses contain just a few random blue/green items. Also the amount of gold you get can sometimes be lower than what you spend on repairs.
4-again) don’t really want to calculate it right now, but I guess something around 20 runs (1200 tokens)…perhaps a bit more. Plus a few more if you want the weapons as well…

While I do support adding anti-rush walls to some encounters, several bosses would become incredibly frustrating. As long as there are random-targeted unavoidable abilities, weird aggro-locks or instakill abilities, some encounters would become much more luck based. And honestly, how many of you have not died while ressing someone else…

Well, I guess this would suck for melee professions, but as a necro I never go melee against this guy…he’s much more fun when you fight him ranged (ok, except the frontal spikes aoe, that can get a bit annoying).

The design itself is amazing, but I really wish it had some more visible special effect, so that everyone around me knows that I’m wielding a legendary :-/ They could at least add footprint effect to all legendaries, not just to 2h and axe. I really hope that these less epic legendaries will get a bit of love in the future, pleasepleaseplease

CoE Teleporter path thoughts and bug

The teleported path might actually be my favourite out of all dungeons I’ve been to. It´’s really difficult at first but now I usually go through without dying (unless I get killed while reviving someone else). The crystal prison is actually quite harmless – many classes can port out of it and the rest can usually use some kind of life-saving abilities (like death shroud). Notice that Subject Alpha will not cast dragon tooth if he’s in your melee range – so don’t fear him away from the trapped player. The spike circle aoe won’t even hit you (unless someone else stands where he’s not supposed to stand) and the ice spike is quite rare.

As for his abilities – you can simply walk away from the dragon tooth (hell you can even backpedal out of it) and it’s not so hard to dodge the rest – with swiftness you can even make it out of the circle without dodging. If you really are in trouble, look at the kind of aoe are you standing in – if the frozen ground effect in the smaller circle isn’t changing, you’re safe. If it has an animation, just step out of the small circle into the big one.

Congrats on your legendary! But you did exactly what I was afraid of – that somebody would create the scepter before I did and I wouldn’t like it :-( I’m almost 80% done with my Meteorologicus (luckily I still didn’t craft the gifts) and I can’t decide whether to finish it or go for some other weapon. The thing is, I don’t like the way Bifrost looks on necro adn I don’t really want to make the dagger. I love Kraitkin but I guess all the effect would only be visible underwater.

Is there perhaps a chance that the dev team could add some effect to the less epic legendaries?
