Unidentified dyes no longer drop as loot since the April 15th feature patch. That probably explains why you aren’t getting them anymore.

By the Eternal Alchemy! Who let this lob-eared dung pusher into the lab? Someone remove it before the entomechological constructs decide to ingest it and the pieces disturb their delicate dingestinal system balance.

Dear Dev’s , please add some female skins for armor almost every available armour in the game for asurans is based off the male armor model, which leave bare chest and other bad choices for us female loving folks. Other classes all have a male and female variation but asuran is left out. These cute lil folks need more options, I hate having only male choice when it comes to armor. This seems like a lazy option from the cosmetic dev team, put them to work on behalf of all the females out there.
They literally can’t do this without the game being banned in several places. Adult female Asuras don’t have developed breasts, so despite the fact that no Asuras even have nipples, by the rules of several rating agencies they are considered to have children’s bodies. Therefore, to put the female armor on them (which is pretty darn sexualized) would get the game banned in many places for sexualization of children’s bodies. This is also why female asura have the big one-piece when wearing diving goggles, instead of a bikini.
I’m pretty sure no one here is asking for “sexy” or skimpy outfits. Why do so many people seem to think feminine = skimpy? All we want are more armor options with skirts, frills, lace, and such for our female characters. I don’t care if it’s floor length skirts or knee length dresses, lace bodices or ruffled sleeves. How about some frilly jabots for the guys too so they don’t feel too left out? Let us all get in touch with our feminine sides!

I’ve been playing my Ranger lately and even their traits that enhance the downed state work way better than ours. For example, the trait that creates a spring when downed helps with healing and condition removal whereas the equivalent trait for engineers drops bandages that fall too far away for us to even get to.
Ug! I was so disgusted the when I chose that trait and THEN figured out it did no good at all since you couldn’t move to get to the bandages. I then had to waste gold for re-traiting, this being about a year ago when you had to pay.

I finally got the backpiece to skin my Dragon Bash wings onto! So Honei celebrated with the makeover kit I’d been hoarding. I just couldn’t resist that HAIR!

Engineers aren’t only a ranged class! Grab pistol and shield as weapons and the toolkit and bomb kit skills for some great melee options. I love using toolkit with my engi, best pure damage output I’ve got, and the toolkit/bombkit combo is perfect for underwater battles. Add compatible traits and armor with +power stats and you can wade right in with the rest.
Also, the engi “rifle” is actually a more short to mid-ranged weapon. We don’t have nearly the range with it that a warrior does.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I have both and love ‘em to pieces. Oddly enough, I’m much more likely to wade into melee range and do some up close bashing with my engineer than with my warrior but that could be because she’s my only lvl 80, fully traited, and better geared up.
Like Tman said, try both! You might find you like both equally, or neither of them at all, but that’s the great thing about having alternate character slots

What a fabulous resource! Thank you so much!
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I agree. Mesmers suck at first but if you keep with ’em your survivability definitely increases as you get more skill points to put towards useful skills.
You might give engineer a try too. Using turrets isn’t a necessity if you don’t like ‘em and I’ve found most people don’t bother with them. They were useful to me as a low level solo player but I don’t think I’ve touched ’em since my engi was lvl 15 or 20.

Maybe they’re adding crouch to the game. There are several applications for crouch.
- When falling, pressing the crouch key right before hitting the ground will reduce falling damage by a certain percent and also prevent falling flat on your face
- Let’s you take cover behind certain low height objects so you get extra protection from projectile attacks
- Moving when crouched could potentially allow you to sneak past certain monsters when they would otherwise aggro on you if you got too close
I’d be down for that.
LOL! I see what you did there XD
I like both ideas really, it will be interesting to see what they’re planning.

Plus, female Charr and Asura sharing the male model armors is just lazy.
Quoted for truth. I LOVE the female medium armor but all of my characters are ASURA which are forced to wear the MALE armor. I don’t get what is so wrong with putting an Asura in a skirt, it’s not like it’s a skimpy outfit either.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
There is nothing over-powered about it. Asura are simply superior to all other races.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Definitely my engineer. I love the versatility and I’ve been having lots of fun switching up skills and traits and experimenting to see what works best for me.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I like this idea very much! Especially since minis also get sent to your bank when you use “deposit collectables” unless you happen to have an invisible bag to store it in.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Yes please. A very heartfelt +1 for this!
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Female here as well. I actually manage to play more often than my husband to be honest
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
My main is an Asura Engineer. I always play the smallest size available in every game and Asura are definitely that. And I love things that go BOOM XD
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I haven’t seen a single crate during this event never mind a ticket. Be glad you have been blessed by the fickle rng and just trash the tickets you don’t want since they can’t be sold.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
+1 to ALL of this! I left yesterday Southsun out of pure frustration after dying four times to those blasted hatchlings in the Driftglass area. And then you have to run back across the map to get to Driftglass again only to die and repeat the process all over. Bashing one’s head against a brick wall is not fun.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
new tries, others to come …
What you say?
I quite enjoy #2 and #5.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I doubt it’s been nerfed. It’s called RNG for a reason. Personally I have -never- seen one of these mystical crate things everyone is so gung ho for and I will consider it a minor miracle if I ever do, nevermind get anything good out of it.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I love how inclusive all the events are. There’s nothing else like having 20 to 30 completely random players all running across the map doing one event after another together. It’s what I love best about this game
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Here’s Katalia Ouhd Tsaa my asura engi.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
The coat for the leather crafted set is pretty good for an engineer.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Personally I like it. #1 is great for laying on the damage if a mob gets close, then hit #3 to push ‘em back and up the burning damage. The FT’s utility skill is perfect to use with the grenade kit for spreading out the burn damage to multiple mobs as well.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Box of nails from the tool kit + Bomb kit spamming = best underwater combo ever. Use the magnet from the tool kit as well to pull mobs to you for faster slaughter.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Oh good, I was wondering this also. I thought that might be the reason since there was nothing in the guides and no one was talking about it anywhere else either.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Oh, so NOW you tell me! Yeah, I kinda felt like my character was drunk while trying to play the game :P
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I think the devs realized that with the distances you have to cover to find all of the samples you would get absolutely kittened over if you couldn’t switch back to your normal weaponry without fear of loosing the sample gun. If you did loose the gun every time you switched to weapons you would then have to go all the way back to Levvi to get another gun, then start the journey all over again. You can dodge some of the karka some of the time but you certainly can’t dodge all of them all of the time!

I told Zojja the Auto-tonamous Inquest Demodulator would work! She didn’t believe me though. Ha! This will show her!
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Your server may just have a low Asura population. It could also be blamed on something called culling where you see fewer people than are actually there. With culling you could actually have twenty Asura running around you and you would never know because you can’t see them and they can’t see you http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Culling

You’ll probably save money by just buying the color dyes outright rather than playing around with the RNG of the unidentified dye, there are tons of dyes on the TP for less than the 17s of the unidentified one. That said, the unidentified dye is a random drop that you can get from mob drops or from plant (non-tree) harvesting nodes. Sometimes your luck is good, sometimes it isn’t. I personally have been hitting a run of them but I wouldn’t be surprised if that dried up soon.

This happened to my brother and I yesterday. He got DC’ed first then I got DC’ed about ten minutes later while I was trying to figure out the trebuchet.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I think maces and torches would be more fitting than big two-handed hammers as well. Though I wouldn’t mind hammers also if we got those two. I would just love to have more weapon variety. I don’t care if we don’t have weapon swapping, I just want more weapon variety to chose from.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I would love if it was a bit darker as well. Right now I can’t tell if it’s night or a really overcast day, or maybe there’s a solar eclipse every “night” that causes the light to fade.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I can’t comment on ranger too much, I’ve hardly played mine, but my main is an engineer and I absolutely love her. I’m still working on survivability, playing around with healing skills a bit to see what works best for me, but if you’re a bit of a pyro and love making things go BOOM! then I would definitely recommend engie
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I always use the smallest model available in whatever game I play and Asura are just too cute. I also love their attitude
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
There should be an audio log collector in Snowden Drifts, the extreme upper right corner.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I just watched for a little bit and now I have a few ideas for skill combinations to play around with. Thanks!
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Yeah we need pistols as our condition set. Would rather see duration on glue shot increased and our poison volley buffed.
i would love to see all the darts actually hit the target. that’d be nice. how about poison pullet instead?
Would poison pullet be anything like the Ranger’s warhorn skill that calls hawks to attack your target? Bright green and black chickens!
But seriously, having the darts all hit would be greatly appreciated. Or at least a better chance to hit.

I’ve always wanted to try one of those fun boxes. Sounds like a ton of fun
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
That looked like loads of fun. Now I really want to go back and do it a second time XD
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Its worth it to me. I always forget to buy harvesting supplies because I don’t think about them all the time. So it helps for airheads and has a nifty animation.
I totally own the airhead label when it comes to gathering tools. I’m also not level 80, nor am I good at making game money fast so the cost for the upper tier gathering tools makes me wince. I don’t bother with copper tools but I’m not going to use a darksteel or mithril tool if an iron one works just fine. Thus, at my level, I have iron, steel AND darksteel tools in my bags. That molten pick just saved me three bag slots and the convenience of not having to switch the pick . . . EVER. One less thing to buy and store extras of. Sometimes convenience is worth a great deal.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I have this problem as well. I’m missing the logbook. I’m hoping to try guesting sometime in the next two days, crossing my fingers it will help.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Thanks! I’m at 61 so at least it won’t be as bad as it was the first time I tried soloing Rox’s instance at 34. Just have to make sure my gear is up to level before I go looking for a group.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I have looked and searched but I haven’t seen anyone mention this so sorry if I’ve completely missed it somewhere. Does your character have to be level 80 to do the dungeon or do you get scaled up?
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Loot items that are dropped with runes/sigils can be sold or mailed if they have not been used as they are “soulbound on use”. If you apply a rune or sigil yourself to a crafted item then it becomes soulbound and unable to be sold or mailed.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
I would absolutely love to see more of these mini games implemented. I tried keg brawl once but it just wasn’t my thing, more options would be great. Especially the mini pet arena. That sounds like loads of fun.
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
My asura engi is a likeably snarky, somewhat sloppy, whirlwind of Death By BOOM. Her workspace is always slightly cluttered, she’s never heard of a clothes iron, and her sense of humor is incredibly dry, but any creature that tries to take a chunk out of her is Going Down . . . followed by a maniacal laugh or two, a disdainful sniff, and an extra boom to light the way.
My asuran mesmer on the other hand is an adorable ball of energy and a bit of a beauty queen and clothes horse. Every time she looks at her armour choices she huffs out her breath desparingly and shudders in disgust as she puts the ugly stuff on anyway (seriously, most light armor is sooooo horrid looking). She sees clones and phantasms as better than 360 degree mirrors when it comes to seeing how outfits look.
