Locked out of dungeons for no reason

Whenever I join a group or make one, I immediately get the prompt to enter the dungeon, regardless of whether there is someone already in the dungeon or not. Nothing happens when I select enter.

I have tried walking in through the entrance, again I simply get a broken prompt that does nothing.

I have tried relogging, leaving and re-joining the group, guesting on different servers, changing maps, changing characters, reforming the group, both making and joining a completely new group, closing my client completely and even rebooting my pc just in case before starting the game again, but I am simply locked out of the dungeon until server reset.

I even tried entering on my own without any group and that doesn’t work either, I am completely unable to enter the dungeon.

This has happened to me for Fotm, CoF, AC, TA and CoE.

It has happened after running one path and wanting to run another path as well as before entering the dungeon at all.

Afk people need to be kicked from the game, plain and simple.

I tried to get the achievement for winning games this morning but ended up with as many as 3 afk people in my team at one time, its ridiculous.

If one team has someone that is afk they are already at an disadvantage playing 4 vs 5, so someone decided to give the other team an even bigger advantage and toss the afk people in there for free kills. This is possibly the worst solution anyone has ever come up with for afk players.

It’s like nothing gets thought through at all, putting an achievement just for playing the game and adding in a free candy even if you loose? Seems like people going afk where expected, however the solution that was come up with is completely dysfunctional.

A little help for you… stock up on stability and condition clears… if you can keep vigor with as much uptime as possible because it gives you more dodges. And pay attention the npc’s… they actually matter now.

I play a necro, I don’t have access to vigor or stability outside of my elite, and to make it worse, range is still bugged on things like burrows which are constantly ‘obstructed’ so I am forced to do melee if I want to do dmg. So I have no way of avoiding perma knock down from trash mobs.

As the dungeons in the game get more complex… hopefully kill crews of zerker warriors will become less appealing.

Actually, this is exactly what is going to happen now. Some classes are now utterly useless in AC and it wont take long before people start insisting on certain classes for a group like warriors or guardians who have faster cool-downs on stability. It might not be zerker warriors but it will still lead to elitism and certain professions struggling to find a group for this dungeon.

This is meant to be a starter dungeon, and before you could form a group with any class plus people where at least willing to form groups with low level characters, where as now you just get kicked because the dungeon is so much harder with low levels in the group.

I get your point, we’ve been spoiled/weakened from past Daily experiences.

For example:

Magumma Vets – Even if you don’t know… people will learn where though and that is good. Gets us around the map some, learning some. If it were like this day one, I feel you would have been ok with it. But since we had it easier… I get it. But I think we maybe better off this way, sense of adventure stuff.

I have leveled a small army of characters, I have been through the map, I have completed these areas several times over, I do not want to go back to these areas, again and again. The events give less karma and money than higher level areas and the drops from mobs are terrible, so all I am doing is wasting my time.

The one’s you found easy were the old one’s and they were easier. You didn’t have to go anywhere special, they just happened most of the time by just doing your thing. My guess is they are trying to get us moving around different parts of the map more. I applaud that, not saying this is thee best way. But it’s a start, I get the logic.

Like I said before, just a shameless attempt to bring people back to these areas. Instead of making it worth going back there, it just gets tossed in as a daily. No one is actually going back there with the intention of playing in that area outside of doing their daily, other than the ones that where planning to go there anyway.

So in my opinion it is a terrible tactic and doesn’t accomplish anything other than artificially increasing the player statistics for those areas seeing as more people are going there for a few min each day now.

Thankfully, this is what they (almost) are now. You can log in and play get your first categories completed and than see what is missing (e.g. today I got 3/5 from one fractals run). Dungeons give events and kills so if I log in and play a dungeon I get a small extra reward.

I agree that some categories a better that other.

I didn’t try Maguuma jungle veterans because I know it would be hard to find them. But since the update I don’t need to do it. So what’s the problem?

For one, not all dungeons give events, and secondly, fractals never counted as a dungeon before, so how on earth did you get 3/5 only doing fractals?

Unless you started as a character below level 80 the only option that could be achieved in fractals is number of kills. So that is a total of 1/5.

The problem is that these new dailies are so specific that it forces you to do do certain things to get it done. It is not longer something fun to complete but instead an annoying list of things to get done.

The dailies used to be something that just happened when you logged in and played. They happened naturally.

Now you have to actively seek them out, find where to complete them and now I spend over an hour searching for kitten to complete my daily then playing the game and having fun.

Exactly this. As a casual player, I use to get the bulk of my dailies done just by playing the game. However, now, if I want to get my dailies done, I end up loosing money due to the need to now port all over the place. So if I am limited on time, instead of just logging on for a bit and having fun while doing the daily, I might as well not log on at all and save some money at the same time.

These new dailies are simply a shameless attempt at drawing people back into dead zones. All it achieves is getting people to waste money to go there for a few minutes to finish up their daily.

What happened to playing the way we want? I use to be able to play the way I want and get daily done without a problem, now I am forced to go into areas I don’t really care about and do things I do not want to just so I can get my daily done.

The problem is no other class can dish out the same amount of damage so easily as a 100blades warrior (although recently I see one or two thieves or a guardian are considered acceptable replacements if they can’t find a full warrior group). Add in time warp and you are practically cutting the time it takes to do the run in half.

Overall I think this just shows that other classes are in serious need of some tlc.

I have no idea how these groups manage with dr, all I can assume is that they either have warrior/mes/thief alts and rotate them or that at the speed they are farming it they still get more out of it than if they did normal runs taking twice as long.

For everyone saying how much fun it is now, keep in mind that this is the first dungeon people get to do at level 35.

Maybe it is fun and challenging for a level 80 group with full exotics, but try doing it with a group of lvl 35’s who are wearing mostly green’s and blue’s and are likely doing it for the first time. Then compare it with a high level dungeon like CoF.

Doesn’t that seem like a problem?

Exactly this! I have no problem with making challenging content, but this is the first dungeon new players get to do. If you compare this to a (less than10 min) CoF run it is far too hard.

Today was the first time I had someone ask me if other dungeons are this hard as well, cause they don’t think they want to run dungeons anymore if they are.

I do not see how a random lvl 35 pug will learn anything other than that dungeons are not fun and make you die a lot.

You are kidding right? The only place minions have trouble is wvwvw zerg battles. In Dungeons they are strong. In tournament play they are pretty awesome. In general pve, they are awesome.

In wvwvw small team roam squads they are hilariously fun. In large zergs or wall defense they get slaughtered.

Are you serious? Minions in dungeons are a joke. They aggro everything they are not suppose to and die instantly during boss fights or against anything with an aoe attack. Also, no agony resistance, so don’t even bother attempting fractals.

Power builds are ok but in fights where range is required they are not much use, plus there are plenty of other classes that will out dps you anyway.

For dungeons the best is to go with a condition build or related hybrid build with wells for support.

Permanently Stowing Away Pet

I agree with this 100%, there are times that a pet needs to be stowed because it becomes a liability, even when in combat.

~Fighting the Maw in fractals is probably the best example, it often targets my pet several times in a row even when my pet is dead. This makes it annoying to have a ranger in the group because the fight will likely take much longer.

~Or when your group is about to wipe, the thief in the group comes along to save everyone with shadow refuge, but oh wait no, your pet is still visible so the mobs aoe hits everyone and you all wipe anyway (Or even worse, it hides your pet and not you, even though I am sure it is suppose to prioritize you over your pet).

~It is also a lot harder to pull mobs when your pet is out, especially in tightly packed areas, since the moment you attack your pet will pop out even when set to avoid combat, they are still likely pull the mobs you where trying to avoid. So you end up with both on you. This counts not just for pulling mobs but any situation where you are specifically trying to avoid mobs while still needing to use skills.

~I am not even going to explain jumping puzzles because I am sure every ranger knows what an annoyance pets can be with those.

The point being there are certain circumstances where stowing a pet in combat is needed.

When I have my pet set to ‘guard’ then it can pop out whenever I take damage or attack, but… if I set my pet to ‘avoid combat’ and I stow it away, I expected it to stay stowed away even if I take fall damage or start attacking, until I actually choose to bring it back out.

I do not expect a damage increase when pet is stowed, I simply want to stop being a liability to my group by having proper control over my pet.

@rhodoc: That might be the case, which would be a stupid change in my opinion, I am still hoping I am bugged.

@Lexy: Yes I know I can do that, but it’s annoying (seeing as I didn’t move them in the first place) needing to reorganize my entire set of tabs and basically sorting them from scratch. Being able to move the tabs would have been simpler and easier.

This would basically mean that any time I decide to remove a tab and add in something else I would need to redo all my tabs again.

Edit: It seems that things are stuck this way now so I will just learn to live with static tabs, thank you for the help though.

I meant the order of the tabs, and I can’t drag and drop them. I have tried to click on the name, the tab box and the edges, and I tried combining with alt/ctrl etc. I even tried holding in the button for a few seconds to see if that works. I cannot move them at all.

So does this mean my tabs are bugged or am I completely missing something?

The only effective counter to portals is AoE but that has been nerfed to a maximum of 5 targets. Either make portal a maximum of 5 players or remove the AoE cap.

I agree with limiting the number, it does not even need to be limited to 5, even scaling it to 10 or 15 will still be enough to prevent portal bombs from dominating so much.

I can log in just fine, but whenever I try and change maps it kicks me out and gives me the log in error message.

Yes it has been crazy with the new dungeon, and for the first few days after it came out there where almost no groups running anything else, but recently I have already seen more group requests for other dungeons. So just give it time, eventually things will go back to normal.

I am on Underworld as well and I find it quite easy to find people for the other dungeons.
Go to the actual area where the dungeon is and look. Standing around in LA LFG is quite pointless

It sounds like you do not run dungeons very often. In general there are very few people looking for groups on the map where the actual dungeon is, with perhaps the exception of some of the more popular dungeons, and even then it is usually the minimal since most people prefer to recruit from LA.

I have to agree that huge zerg farms end up being a frustrating race to get your aoe off before everything is dead while at the same time hoping you managed to do enough damage. But that is a rather difficult one to find a solution for, some classes will always have an advantage over others and some people will always be a little bit faster than the rest.

However in GW1 zergs where not possible and farming was always done in smaller groups or alone so that makes it a bit tricky to compare.

Are there any settings to change things back to how it worked originally?

I have not crafted in a while and I find this new system where I need to enter the amount I want to craft and then hit enter before I can actually craft incredibly annoying and frustrating. Not only is it not intuitive at all but half the time when I hit enter it does not accept it and I need to keep repeating this until it does, which has slowed my crafting down to a crawl.

I use to like crafting but this is making me really hate it, so is there anything I can do to fix this?

This is just a silly thing to complain about, you should be happy you did not simply get blue’s and green’s from the chest at the end.

For those complaining that they have been working on a precursor for such a long time, keep in mind even without this event, there where people that dropped precursors withing the first week already. I do not see how this event is in anyway more unfair than any regular one.

If a jumping puzzle requires 20 people to jump in the same spot at the same time, scrap it.

Start over and design it so that this is not a necessity.

One of the biggest complaitns you got with the halloween event was that the clocktower was too hard, because nobody could see themselves to know where they were or where they were going to be…and then in The Lost Shores, you include a jumping puzzle that requires a bunch of people to start in the same place, at the same time, at the same pace? :\

We can’t see ourselves, again. We can’t see where we’re going to land…again. Stop please.

I think you are being unreasonable, the problem with the clock tower was that it was a limited event where as this puzzle here to stay so there is no rush whatsoever.

If you think about it, it is rather impossible to make a puzzle with a timed jump where people do not jump onto the same spot. Even if you make different paths people will always prefer to use the easier one.

The first few hours that a map opens is always crazy, so if your problem is that you cannot see with all the people just come back and do it on another day.
I did it this morning and there where only 2 other people there doing the puzzle, and I had no problems with it at all. In fact I really enjoyed it and I think it was a great puzzle.

That said, if you missed it you didn’t miss much, just a slightly easier version of the initial karka attack with a lot of yelling at trebuchet builders to stop taking beer breaks beforehand. The real fun today was all out at southsun cove.

That is no excuse for the complete lack of event in the first place, there where a few hundred people on the overflow I was in and I am sure there where tons more on other overflow servers. Many of which stayed up late or got up early or made time especially just to be able to attend the event.

Was on overflow on Stormbluff Isle and nothing happened, waited for about 40 minutes and then the event notification simply changed to the one to go to the island. Waited a few more minutes but everyone left for the island so eventually just gave up.

Incredibly disappointing seeing as I stayed up extra late especially for the event. I sincerely hope the even gets repeated at a few more intervals tomorrow to make up for this because otherwise I do not see how this is fixable.

I have this same problem, I made the mistake of creating a character with light hair and now I basically need to play without post processing or play a character with a glowing bulb for a head.

There definitely needs to be an option to tune down or turn off the bloom effect without needing to turn off post-processing.

Did this yesturday (about 8 hours before OP), didn’t have a problem at all, in fact it was easier than usual. Could it have been party make up? I’ve been in some groups which really struggle through lack of damage but last night we killed the boss in record time (as far as my groups go). Can’t recall 5th member but team was Mesmer, Necro, Thief, Guardian and I think it might have been a ranger or warrior too.

Nope, ran it with the same group as always, could tell the difference right away.

Perhaps the crystals where just bugged before and not working properly, so it only felt like a bit of a buff because the crystals where now functioning properly?

It would be great to be able to separate them, more than once I have had someone in my group die because they had a npc standing on top of them and none of us where able to rez them because the chat option for the npc was taking priority.

Yep, there has definitely been a buff. It was kinda expected though considering that before the buff you could practically just ignore the crystals altogether.

Just need a little bit of planning now before you take him on. ^^

I think for both heavy and light armors there are adequate options and some of them are absolutely gorgeous. I would not call these bland at all.

However I recently rolled a ranger and engineer and I can honestly say that I am really struggling to find something unique for them.

At least with heavy and light armors you can mix and match armor pieces quite easily, but with medium armor the whole thing basically consists of the coat and this makes it extremely limiting in regards to what you can do. Certainly in need of a bit more attention.

It seems to work best for me when you start as far away from the roof as possible, nearer the end of the beam. There does seem to be a bit of an invisible ledge extending slightly past the roof, so perhaps try and land on top of it instead of aiming for the roof itself.

And of course as someone already said, as an alternative just get a mesmer friend to help you out. ^^

Sorting out the folder does not help the situation in anyway way or help prevent it from happening again. I am sure the game has bigger problems, but even little problems need to be fixed eventually. All I was asking was if anyone knew if it already had a solution.

We really need an option to deactivate traits we do not want.

I absolutely hate this minor trait, I have to take it because I need other traits in that line, but I do not choose that trait line for the minions as I do not play a minion master.

I think it is absolutely ridiculous that we are forced to be stuck with a minion we do not want in the first place.

Even if it get’s fixed to not randomly aggro anything in sight, it will still run in and aggro everything in the area when you are trying to pull certain mobs. This means every time this minion pops up I have to stop what I am doing and wait for it to die while hoping the mobs I just killed do not re-spawn in the mean time.

It is incredibly disruptive and annoying, so please give us the option of deactivating it.

Halloween Event Feedback

Everything was a ton of fun and there was plenty to do for everyone. MK’s voice was simply brilliant, placing emphasis at all the right parts, I loved every word. I think it was a very memorable Halloween.

I did run into a lot of people that seemed confused on what to do, the little Halloween mail helped a lot with this already but some people still struggled to figure out how some of the mini games work and such, so perhaps slightly more detailed instructions?

The only thing I would really like to add is the possibility to wear the town clothes over your normal armor or transmute them or something, although I guess this is not strictly limited to this event alone.

Overall the event was awesome!

For those of us that spent money, will you buy again at Christmas?

It all really depends on the items for sale.

I got the witch costume because it is simply adorable and I have no regrets about buying it.

But for example, I will never buy the light armor skin from the shop because I have no intention of dressing my character like a power ranger.

I had a ton of fun with both the events and I think the rewards were more than enough for a holiday event!

The only other thing I can think of would be titles, but then again you would need to be careful that the titles are achievable within the limited time available or you will have a ton of complaints like with the clock tower.

~Also even though this is a bit off topic I agree with the idea of holiday items having their own bank slots.

I get more replies asking me why I take so many screenshots then helpful comments, seriously if you have nothing helpful to say then please refrain from posting, let’s just say I am a hoarder and leave it at that.

@ uberlurker.6485: If I do that I might as well run fraps, I was hoping for a solution that does not require me to run anything extra in the background just to be able to take screenshots freely as I am trying to keep my fps at a maximum. Thank you though.

And thanks to everyone else that posted helpful responses, this is clearly an issue that only effects a small minority of players so I guess there wont be any real solution for the problem.

I’ve never had a problem with invisible bags. Between consumables (might, speed, karma, experience, magic find, regeneration, and food go with me everywhere I go), a salvage kit or two (usually three, a Black Lion for ecto producing items, and two basic kits for everything else), holiday items, spare gathering tools for when the ones I have break, and a handful of different miniatures, filling a 20 slot invisible bag is easy.

If you don’t carry as much stuff, make a smaller invisible bag, for exactly what you do always carry on you. It’s not all that hard, really.

Unfortunately I do not carry that many extra things with me and use the biggest bags I can because my inventory usually fills up quite fast. So now I am forced to either carry more junk with me or use smaller invisible bags for whatever I am carrying, both of which ultimately reduce my inventory space for no reason.

This is not an optimal solution, this is making the best out of a not very ideal situation which can certainly be improved on.

@myng.3516: Yes I can do that if it fills up when I am not busy, but the main reason I am asking is because if filled up while I was in the middle of a big fight. There are more than enough things happening during fights for me to keep an eye on, now I need to keep tabs on the number of screenshots I take too just so I can plan ahead to be in a non-agro area when it fills up? Who plans their gameplay around their screenshots folder? Again, this just shows what a pointless mechanic this is.

An invisible bag will stop you from depositing them when you deposit all collectibles.

Yes, but it also stops you from depositing everything else in the bag as well. Once you start using larger bags that means there are likely over a dozen items you will have to manually deposit/remove each time you go sell or store stuff just to be able to keep your mini safe, which becomes rather annoying to do.

@Caedmon.6798: I like taking screenshots, as simple as that, and no, dragging them into a different folder or renaming the folder makes no difference whatsoever, either of these require me to actually put the game on hold. When I am in the middle of a major event or big boss fight, I cannot afford to alt+tab my game just to go fix a full screenshots folder.

How is a level appropriate group supposed to finish AC?

I’m currently alting condition necro myself btw, so I kinda feel your pain, but marks/axe helps. But otherwise if you don’t wish to take tips and attack my profession, then go ahead and be ignorant.

I was not attacking your profession and I am not being ignorant, I figured you were a warrior, I should have probably pointed that out, a warrior would have no problem with this at all, I was referring to when you have a group of squishies or a group of necro’s like I stated originally, that do little to no damage to the burrows.
If you have no tanky dps class, you need the aoe of the ele/engineer to help keep numbers down at same time as destroying the burrows. Having those classes in your group would make things easier regardless of what clasess the other people in your group are. I was trying to give helpful advice in general, not specifically to warriors alone.

And sure, I can switch to axes/wells, but wells have incredibly long cd’s and axes will still be doing poor damage since I am not a power build. Why don’t you show me a video of a non-power build necro taking down those burrows solo at the same speed as your warrior? I would find that a lot more useful.

The jumping puzzle was the most fun I’ve had in this game period. Mainly because while other jumping puzzles are fun, this one you could do with other players, and you were practically racing to the top and watching other people fail just as badly as you.

Firstly, you can do almost all of the jumping puzzles in the game with other people and secondly, yes, it would indeed be fun if you did it with other people that were not trolling. But besides the fact that small characters could not see anything past the giant charr/norn and their huge armor sets and shoulder decorations (or even see their toons for that matter), there were also a ton of people summoning spirits or throwing down random speed boost to purposely frustrate other players.
