No, don’t kill them! They should remain as shining examples of bad writing. A cautionary tale if you will…
Yes, please. Enough with this obnoxious kitten in game!
They are nobody important. See them as additional meat shields during the obligatory every five step battles during “living stories.”
I have just came back to this game after a long hiatus. I love my ranger and have been running with longbow and greatsword. With my friends out of the game, I am looking to solo pve for quite a long while before going to dungeons or fotm (is it still called that? :P). With that in mind, is the new ranger/druid with LB/GS still usable as a solo pver? Or am I better off with other ranger build? I didn’t quite enjoy condi ranger back then and I have invested too much on LB/GS weapons.
Thread necro notwithstanding, I’m a recently returned player too and use a modified version of this build. I use A/W LB, so the traits are not the same, but the three trait lines are what you are after.
Would “Kaldottir” be acceptable? If so, give that a try. It eliminates the “LSD” problem (assuming that is the game’s problem).
The only way to eliminate an LSD problem is cocaine.
I propose the name Aela Snowsnorter.
How about Aela Crackintheice?
Was that before or after she slipped and fell?
I just pick the same as my normal helm for consistency
This.
Wait… since I haven’t done this ordeal in a year and you want to tell me that they haven’t fixed any of those bugs? Are you kidding me?
It was much buggier at launch. I know the bugs with the platforms that spawned in air at least was fixed and a couple of others as well. There’s a chance also some of these bugs are newer bugs.
The fact is, for each person complaining about a bugged instance, there are people running this over and over who don’t have these problems.
I’ve probably done that instance 20 times. I can’t remember the last time I experienced a bug in it.
Nice strawman there!
Just because it was buggier, or just because you personally can’t remember when you last experienced a bug, or just because there are people running this over and over doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem. How can you be so dismissive?
My wife and I gave up on this for now. Between the bugs and horrible mechanics we’d both like the two hours of frustration back. It’s kitten like this that makes me scratch my head and wonder, when will GW2 ever be fun and unbroken again?
…but can’t do anything with the instant 80 boost. I hardly play my alts so won’t ever start a new character. Can I just destroy this useless thing and use the shared slot for something that’s actually useful?
For me, it’s the change of overall philosophy and lack of constant updates. More than anything, the updates kept me interested for years. And then the expansion came. And then the content drought. And then the copy and paste job for events.
It’s ironic. The very reason I didn’t stick with other MMOs and stayed with Guild Wars 2 is now the reason I’m playing other games more instead of this one.
How it went from the champion of casual games to a grindy, raid infused, PvP will balance everything MMO mess is beyond me.
And I’m hating it.
While the rate of LS updates at two weeks was unsustainable, the sales figures during Season 1 was awesome. It almost seems that the more GW2 became just yet another grindy MMO, the less people wanted to support them.
If you look at the figures since launch, it is clear that every time ANet introduces a way to alienate working (and therefore spending) casual players, their financials suffer. What they are left with are hardcore players who either have enough time (because they don’t work and therefore have no spending power) to grind or buy everything with gold (again not spending real money on anything) made in various forms in the game.
Had the same happen, but since it was towards the end of last week, I just went to the Lab for my carving that day. It was reset the next day when I logged in. As long as a workaround exists I’m not going to bother ANet to fix a seasonal bug. They have enough bugs that affect us daily to waste time on this.
So if the price of MCs was 5G each, but remained the same all the time you would be happy?
I think you partly missed my point, but…
Yes, because I would know I needn’t hoard any. If I sold 25 today because I needed a gemstore item, then need those 25 six months from now, it would always be ~125 gold’s worth. That is exactly contrary to the current situation with MC where I could sell today for 20 gold and either pay 40 gold or 5 gold (if the bubble bursts in between) in six months’ time. Not willing to risk the former, I’d rather hold on to them even if I could quadruple my supply if the latter happened.
The problem now is that there isn’t a “good” way to let air out of this bubble without bursting it. ANet’s solution is not to be the one with the pin but let the bubble pop on it’s own. Problem is the bubble bursting isn’t going to fix the problem but simply reset the price and the cycle will start all over again.
This is the most succinct description of the MC problem I have read. A healthy market is not one where it swings between feast and famine the whole time (regardless of how long the swing interval is), but rather one where the price is fairly stable because supply and demand has reached equilibrium. Without intervention, the MC market will always be a bubble waiting to burst.
One yes you can Farm them you have a chance on Mystic Clover crafting to get either 5 or 50 respectively from 1 or 10 Mystic Coin it is RNG just like trying to farm hardened leather… is it efficient no but you can farm them.
Have you actually looked at any drop rate research to back your fallacy up? The “toilet” will consume, on average, more coins than it will produce with lucky rolls. That is not a farm, that is a sink.
Until now I have not seen any evidence that more mystic coins are being destroyed than entering the market.
Surely you jest? Or are you privy to the same metric JS is?
Ranger using Ele hammers in WvW for all of 2(?) days back in ’14. I would purposely let the hammer trains of the day run into me and wreck their face. I then knew how falling damage Mesmers felt, even though I knew it was due to bug.
How is a decision made 17 days ago supposed to have prevented a problem occurring months ago?
I’ve heard some interesting abilities attributed to John Smith but time travel is a new one.
You’re asking the wrong question. You should be asking “How is a decision made 17 days ago supposed to fix a problem occurring months ago?” It’s not. It’s just the latest way John Smith is kittening up the economy some more because he thinks it’s his own personal economic sandbox.
Gold enough for Bolt or Bifrost, bolt because Elementalists might get sword next exp.
Bifrost because I am getting used to rain ow effect on my male ele..-_-Or the bubble glider xD

Please read Gaile’s posts in this thread. This thread is meant for one time requests and not multiple ones.
Also, I rescind my previous offer, as it seems you’re just trying to be a freeloader. Shame on you!
That is not fair.
Life’s not fair, so don’t expect to ever see those idle animations back in the game.

I don’t own HoT. I still think gliding is awesome and rag on my wife who has HoT and glides at every opportunity because I am indeed envious.
What I can’t understand is that people still bring up the “do what you want however you want” broken promises manifesto after we all know by now that ANet lied, and continue to do so in the name of profit. C’mon folks, you should have come to that “shame on me” part of the old saw by now. I’m not saying all of the great people working for ANet are kittens, but ANet is after all a company interested in separating you from your cash. As often and expeditiously as possible. If that involves making certain things in the game gated in order to force you to experience what they laid out salaries to bring to you, I can understand that. If it means that other pieces of the game are gated behind a whole expansion/system, then that’s just to force you to spend money. Deal with it: GW2 is not a free game and never will be.
Sorry. I’m sort of new around here. Did ANet really promise they would deliver this game entirely free? I find that hard to believe. Further, HoT is worth the money. I know a lot of players didn’t feel that way initially and ANet seemed to have a long pause after the release, but this is how MMO expansions work. They release some of the content up front and then continue releasing new additions until the next expansion is ready to go live.
I’m not saying I love paying money for games. Obviously, if I could get them for free (legally!) I would! But if we don’t pay for it, why should we expect to see more content? Developers have to make a living, too! And like I said, the product is easily worth the money (YMMV, of course!).
I’m looking forward to the next expansion and I don’t mind paying for it even a little bit. If the game is worth playing, I’d like to support continued development!
I think you totally misunderstood my point/s.
I think ANet was wholly optimistic with their pay-once business plan 4 years ago. People who don’t realise that are idiots and were the ones that wanted HoT for free. I personally pushed about as much into the gem store as I did for my vanilla download code, but it never bothered me that I would have to buy HoT. What did bother me was how far away from the vaunted manifesto the game had drifted, even if I understand why.
No, I disagree. HoT is not worth it to me personally. It was worth it to my wife, and I was okay with that even if the money went out of our joint household finances. HoT was just more sliding down that slippery slope ANet has been doing and I will not validate/reward that with money going their way.
And if you want to go full “cat lady,” might I recommend you look into this https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hungry_cat_scavenger_hunt to go along with your candy corn in your home instance (if you haven’t already)?
I already had all the cats not owning 9 classes or HoT will allow. I even paid a kind stranger 1 Tattered Bat Wing for summoning the “familiar” cat for a bunch of us in LA as a thank you. When Zuzu dropped, my main swapped her mini snow leopard in an instant. It’s an added bonus that Zuzu is still a feline and also swims.

You’d think if ANet could employ an “economist” to look after the economy, they could employ a fashion designer to design the armours and outfits.
I went from cautiously optimistic (moving armour – cool) to “meh” to relieved that I won’t have to grind stupid raids for this.
I would like a marauder staff, exotic or better if possible, for my elementalist
Ofc I would like a legendary, but that is unrealistic xD
Also really casual gaemAlso I would like to gift some BL keys next month to some one

I could help you out with some of the ingredients, but you’re gonna have to craft the staff yourself. Send me an in-game mail and we’ll figure this out.

I really hate asking in this thread again, but you know I live in a country where the dollar exchange rate is really bad and I’m poor. Could someone please gift me a permanent mining pick, copper-salvage-o-matic and shared inventory tab? Am I asking too much?
Edit: Oh, thank you so much kind stranger who sold your legendary instead of account binding the skin when you made it, then bought 2,500 gems and still has gold left over because it took you about 3 years to make and you were being patient, diligent and not being an ingrate.
The OP thinks that ANet had a meeting and decided, “oh jeeze, which profession hasn’t be trolled this month? Right, thieves! What can we do about it? Prevent them from getting stomp credit using their speshul skill? No, too harsh. How about just for the Halloween achievement that was created before that skill was available? Sure, great idea.”
The other possibility is that it’s an unintended oversight. And that, if asked nicely, they might consider getting it fixed before the next festival that includes stomps as an achievement.
+1

P.S. Welcome back Na! I missed your acerbic responses lately…
My first goal was to get the bigger Candy Corn node in my home instance. Tick
Bonus goal was getting Zuzu, Cat of Darkness in a ToT bag, since my main has turned into a cat lady. Tick
I’m working towards getting enough stuff to forge the recipe to start crafting The Crossings for future income and for personal vanity Nightfury for my Necro. I might also forge an endless version of the new ghostly crow tonic as I really like being a bird.
I’m also trying to avoid carpal tunnel in my WASDE-12345 hand in the Lab.

I’m assuming it’s due to the decorations, but perhaps a fix devs?
Buy low, sell high!
I really wonder if it’s possible to suggest anything on a game forum without people fighting you on it…
Thank you so very much for making my day… I’m gonna send you some in-game gold if I remember.
You do realise you are on an official ANet forum, where ANet can absolutely never do anything wrong, right? You do also realise that if it doesn’t involve separating you from your money in some way, they don’t actually care either, right?
So is Roy still playing his Warrior then? Clearly Karl is no longer playing his Thief. It’s been a while, so not sure who else still balances this game…
Wants masterwork frog in a jar

Programming is the easy part. It’s all the assets that need to be developed and integrated and then tested to see if it’s “fun” that’s the tough part.
Yep. No wonder they fail at that about 75% of the time.
How about throwing gold and silver in the toilet and allowing Zom-the-bog-troll to give you back X mystic coins?
I suppose a note on the Notarized Scroll of Heroics page is warranted, as well.
I went ahead and changed the individual wiki pages for the scrolls to avoid future confusion from others like me who won’t be getting HoT in the foreseeable future/ever.
Well, I suppose it’s obvious you have Heart of Thorns, since you can see the Blueprints.
Vanilla actually.
Does the vendor offer the Core Tyria Scrolls on other characters? Does the vendor offer HoT Scrolls for this character?
No, and no (although the last was expected since it is vanilla).
It might be time to update the wiki if it’s again a HoT gated currency/item.
A message from the Skills Team:
Way to throw poor Gaile in front of the bus there “Skills Team”! At least they don’t call themselves the “Balance Team” anymore…
Why can’t I see them for sale under the “Scrolls” tab (or any tab for that matter) from the Heroics Notary vendor? Yes, to stave off the obvious (did not read the OP properly) replies, I am visiting the vendor with a character that doesn’t have all Central Tyrian hero challenges completed. Yes, I can see the superior siege under the “Blueprints” tab. Yes, I have 114 Proof of Heroics to spend.
ANet won’t balance it. If they balanced core vs. elite then there would be no incentive, however tacit, to buy HoT. If you’ve bought HoT, there is very little incentive to stay with core classes.
Just WP after death like you used to before HoT, but a little more often, and don’t let it get to you.
Besides if you’re still playing core Ranger, a little pervasiveness must have built up in you as player over the lifetime of your character. Why else would you do it?
As long as we don’t see even more candy corn related items, I’ll be happy. I’ll be even happier if the gemstore items that will invariably be released for “eat-sugar-’till-you-puke-holiday” 2016 consume candy corn every hour, even without player interaction. They can do the same for “winters-day-that-lasts-a-month,” only with snowflakes.
@OP: GW2 players are like Skritt. They always follow the latest shiny. If you don’t see them where there used to be shinies, they are where the newest, shiniest shinies are to be found.
It’s a Ranger/Druid cat, so it kinda fits. My Ranger has had a frog in her backpack ever since she discovered Bloodtide Coast.
Are the cats in your home instance directly related to the ones you fed? Or better put, do I get a cat in my home for each fed cat outside in the wild? I seem to have 3 oranges, a gray, 2 blacks playing snowball and had a kitten (haven’t seen it recently).
Long may AB whatever last! As a vanilla player I’m reaping the benefits even if I can’t farm the locked content myself. Cheaper ecto, cheaper T6 dust, cheaper rare mats. Loving it!
tldr; I wanna play Living World: Season 2 but can’t afford it.
You’e not missing much.
That said, can you really not afford 4 double cheeseburger meals from M?
Consume as much knowledge around the things that have changed since you left. To that end use the Wayback Machine to look at what the GW2 wiki said traits were back then, compared to what they are now and get your head around what your build should be. It may require re-gearing which you may not wish or be able to do right away.
Your main priority should be having fun. If anyone or anything detracts from that, avoid that. If that means avoiding the game again, so be it, you lost nothing. Remember that the things that caused you to leave may still be in the game even after all this time.
I used to get this problem A LOT, I don’t and haven’t for years since I resized all my alts bags to be the same width accross. Don’t know if any of you have tried this.
It cost me 230 gold (for the runes) plus mats, but upgrading to 20 slot bags in all the inventory slots on all my characters finally seems to have put this bug to rest for me.
I wonder if I should send a Support Ticket asking for a refund of the gold?
Since the problem is entirely unrelated to the size of your bags, I don’t think that’s a good idea.
In your opinion.
As a matter of fact, in my specific case I upgraded the bags from 18-slots to 20-slots on only three characters to start, but still experienced the bug. This despite doing everything else suggested in this thread before and after that initial upgrade. It was only after upgrading all the bag slots on all my characters that the bug went away. It has also stayed away since, so I guess ~200 gold was a “small price to pay” to rid me of something that would never be fixed.
I’ll keep this short, but due to the inventory resize bug, I’ve had to spend about half my savings in gold on making 20-slot bags.
For my only attempt at a Legendary (sic) I need another 20 or so Mystic Clovers, half a Gift of Might and Magic, and a Gift of Baelfire. The rest I can probably manage myself.
