I’n not offended at all with legendary armor being locked behind raids but I do hope that we eventually see legendary armors obtained through pvp or something equally difficult. Would be awesome to have different armors for different game types.
lol if you really want some fun with staff 3, eat enough strawberry ghosts to get the effect and you will see your toon just run really fast rather then turn into a wisp.

Well as soon as we found out we were getting a pure healer spec I was prepared for the roller coaster of druid nerfs/changes. I personally find the scope of the specialization far too narrow to balance easily because it simply doesn’t relate to core ranger much at all. The problem is that they expect us heal people through building up an arbitrary force that can (for the most part) only be obtained through healing people. Unlike necro we don’t have a million different weapons that build up this force so we are pigeon holed into staff. If they just got rid or the AF completely and just gave us a CD or increase AF gain through damage significantly I would be a happy druid.
What do you guys think the next elite spec should/will be like?
I personally hope for something that gives us preparations in some way because they offered a unique play style back in gw1. Thoughts?
Allow crossfire to shoot 3 arrows per second instead of almost 2, and I would start using the weapon again. Oh, and give back 1200 range please.
(Skill #3 should grant superspeed instead of swiftness.)

He simply don’t care much about Rangers and thus communication with us…each class gets much more attention and bold changes, but not Rangers…look at Dragonhunters, they are much more superior than Ranger and much more interesting to play…kitten , even their skills(vfx) looks more impressive.
Nothing will change beacause Anet is satisfied with how Irenio treat Rangers.

They all played warriors back in the glory days, they are probably playing now dragon kittens since they are OP as hell and no nerf for them. When the raid patch hit, astral force was way too easy to generate and you could use it everytime you want only limited by the cooldown.

It was finally fun to use again.
It did not need a nerf by the very virtue that is wasn’t breaking any game mode.

Coming from someone who only pvp’s I thought druid was in the perfect place in terms of raw healing. It never felt OP and was finally a fun / accessible mechanic to use. i can’t imagine this was done because of pvp abuse because there are simply better options. You shouldn’t fix what isn’t broke.
It was definetly taking the spotlight in PvE. However in PvP as well Avatar could be used as a reset potentially 3 or even 4 times during a fight. It mostly was okay due to specific counter builds that appeared because of it. However it was strong enough and astral form was frequent enough than an entire amulet had to be removed from the game to counteract this.
If it is confined to a set time. Then that amulet cna probably be returned. as youl have 15-20-25 seconds to kill the druid before he can reenter it. Or to kill his friends and leave him solo against your team.
Edit: also it was brokenly OP in Stronghold.
I guess this is what happens when our entire elite spec is literally based on one thing only. Sigh

It wasn’t gated enough, so a cooldown was added AND it drained out of combat, which was too much of a gate.
The out of combat draining of astral force was logically removed because celestial form was nearly inaccessible.
Blah blah other overtuned heavy handed nerfs blah blah.
Undocumented change to healing sources that previously didn’t add Astral Force start adding Astral Force. Now, instead of reviewing that change, let’s just gate Celestial Form worse than when it was draining out of combat.
There must be just this massive list of kittenty ideas you plan on throwing at us every other week, isn’t there?
Sigh, that’s why I’ve been absent for these past few weeks. I just can’t take this “throw kitten at the fan and then run up and smear it so that ALL OF IT sticks” balancing philosophy.
It’s basically the “in combat” astral force generation all over again, except worse, because it’s use is further gated to a specific scenario beyond just being in combat. If you can’t see how bad of a design that is, then I highly suggest scrapping your entire development team that signed off on this change and hiring some of us here (like me, I’m a programmer) that actually play the game and understand how to not totally kitten over a class every time I think up a change.
Please revert this change, and then stop touching the class unless your name reads Irenio, and Irenio, you should be submitting a list of potential changes through us to get feedback before you even put the code work into them to make them go live in case they are world class kitten ideas like this one so that you can save yourself the time and energy when they are ideas like this recent implementation.

UPDATE – Bug where celestial avatar gave the druid five new healing abilities. This has been fixed to instead transform player into moa.
- All staff weapon skills have been replaced with Solar Beam and require a target.
I think what upsets me the most is that they nerf the builds that ALREADY get little use. Because who gives a kitten about variety right?
Maybe this change is just one exceedingly early April fools prank.
I finally started to enjoy healing druid in stronghold…….. Well congratulations Anet, you officially put the final nail in the coffin for this elite spec. There’s no way the devs are balancing for the same game I play.

Yeah I laughed pretty hard when I heard the material requirements for a kittening chair. The least we could get is an actual animation for sitting in them right? But with a small guild like mine I can’t even claim the kitten hall in the first place >:(

I think the biggest issue is that the best way to gain AF is to heal others and the best way to heal others is to use AF. Any druid who doesn’t take staff is getting the shaft hard. Just give it a CD or make it more like death shroud because this is quite useless.

So it seems Anet is pushing for classes getting all types of different utilities. You guys think this should be a continuing trend or should we beg for some more familiar utilities like extra traps, spirits, survival, ect? Maybe after they fix the terribad ones first. Anyway what do you guys think? I would hope we can stay somewhat narrow so classes feel unique still.

I think that the best thing a noobie can learn is proper rotations around the map. Everything else is mostly secondary. Casual PvP is infinitely more lenient in terms of build creativity as well.
I can only imagine how annoying a druid will be in that situation :P

With my necro I dont even use the “shadowform”, I enter the frey and place all wells where enemies are, I autotarget for the second axe ability and swap weapon to cast the dmg/healing ability on the same target … and people start dying. I have that trait automatically on “downing” shifts me to shadowform where I usually just panic and press all buttons.
I am talking about builds where I can concentrate on what I am doing without much thought to what is going on screen and who is doing what, I just have to follow my team mates and help them the best way I can.
If you wish to call it trolling then fine.
I mean you could always use ranger spirits if you want to get real passive, or maybe even the good ol turret engie, minion master?
I do already, playing necro, engie and ranger …. not good enough for any of the other professions.
Honestly though you might be better served by picking something up from metabattle and just practicing. Passive play will only get you so far in higher level play.

After the patch LB rangers became much much more durable than before. If you run WS, BM, NM you should be able to 1v1 most classes for a good while on point. In terms of PvP I think we have definitely made improvements but i’m not sure about WvW and PvE.

Well we have to keep in mind that Anet’s goal was to make sure that multiple professions can play many roles. They weren’t exactly trying to kill all healing focused archetypes but rather just make it so that anyone can fill the necessary role that is required.
Plot twist- Staff allows you to tame enemy elementalists as secondary pet.
This suggestion would make 2v1’s more impossible then they currently are.
Yeah I am aware of this. I don’t blame them for not adding this it’s just a humerus thought I wanted to share. Regardless of what Anet decides to do with spirits (or not do) should be a bit more interesting in my opinion. Or at the vary least viable.
Yeah I was a bit confused as to why conditions now stack but regen doesn’t. Without healing power it become almost negligible anyway.
Do you guys remember that solid month of ranger QQ when aour LB got buffed? Yet we are still the only class that doesn’t have any place in the meta. I guess they all simmered down when they realized that we still suck.
Probably a terrible idea but what if Anet brought back frozen soil where I guess all rezz speed is reduced by half or something? Or maybe even the old muddy terrain where everyone moves 10% slower? The interesting thing about old spirits was that they affected your team as well so you would need to build around what they do.

I like the fury proc idea. But 1 second of anything is still pretty terrible. I always thought spirits were supposed to be more about large radius passive effects though. Not to encourage brain-dead play but it was supposed to be more about changing the battlefield in your favor. If the passive effects were a bit more interesting like in gw1 then the low hp of spirits wouldn’t be too much of an issue as you can place them off point.
I agree but currently it seems like the only way Anet will make them viable.
So after Anet “fixed” spirits they have been completely unseen in nearly every game type since except for FS in dungeons. I was actually kinda excited to have spirits become immobile because it would be more about skilled placement and would have very large passive radius effects that might have been game changing. It could have been like spirits in GW1 but NOPE! Chuck Testa! Instead we got immobile spirits with 1 second of might every three seconds. Is this a joke? Because I definitely don’t understand how these numbers could ever be taken seriously. I get that we got some nice toys but why was it necessary to nerf an already terribad spec? Unless there’s something i’m missing and spirits are secretly meta.

Anyway on a more constructive note what do you guys think should be changed with spirits to make them useful in PvP and also engaging to play? Or should we just wait until druid and hope there’s synergy kinda like daredevil and acrobatics?
Just try to set up your bursts and bait those defensive cooldowns. And don’t camp LB unless they run. Everything else kinda depends on play style I guess.
Also don’t forget that the taunt can bring them out of SR very well.
I just never felt the damage was ever worth it to take them. Maybe if they just buff some trap damage and un-nerf sipke trap cd it would be a better trade off, but until then they will be most useful trolling in WvW.
