Balance patches should be done at least on a monthly basis after a major expansion that involves new classes. If your team can’t handle that, fire them…simple. They didn’t do kitten in 2 years anyway.

Oh yea, agony is a debuff that takes % of your health away each tick.

I’m a bit perplexed. You all say that by going through the achievements is a form of progression of bit by bit, right?

So gathering gold coins by coins to buy it of the TP, isn’t progression of bit by bit?

At the end of the day it’s the same thing, just the TP thing is kind of easier and faster.

On a more serious note, they pushed out plenty skins for the gemstore, and halloween will last for some time, so they’ll probably release them during the course of the event, once the dust from HoT settles.

Sometimes I wonder if people are mad because they didn’t get everything when they started playing HoT or because they don’t really take their times to play it. It’s not a friggin race -.-

It is if you cant play your “Elite” spec…sry I meant trait line, while doing new content.
Grinding for levels was supposed to be over when you hit 80, after you just grind for money like in every MMO.

So instead of raising the lvl cap and making new gear, they just added a new way of grinding for levels. Sry but I’d rather pop 10 Tomes of Knowledge and upgrade my ascended gear than grind for some masteries that have no real use outside those 4 maps which I’ll probably never visit again.

TL:DR – my grinding was over couple thousands of gold ago. I’d skip the whole bloody LS3 story if that was possible like in the old GW2. Mind you I never ever completed the original story line, always stopped at 60, that’s where you get the last BL key.

Elite Specializations are a Waste of Time

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Liisjak.4509

Liisjak.4509

Elite specializations are horizontal progression so by definition they wont fit everyone’s build. The ones in HOT look good overall, hero point cost could be lower but that really isnt a huge problem. This and masteries are VASTLY better then grinding a bunch of levels and all new gear. Both seem like meaningful character progression without having to grind like crazy to be competitive again

No they’re not. From Exotic to Ascended that’s horizontal, since you’re basically able to enjoy 95% of the content with Exo gear.

Elite Specs are vertical progression. You either grind the kitten out of it, or you give up on it.

Expansion? Where? It’s more like a mild update.

-They said new fractals, though you get 50 more levels of the same ones.
-They said raids. They haven’t been implemented yet.
-The story? It’s just LS3 which I couldn’t care less about.
-New Zones? Couldnt care less, got 5 full decked toons…only 1 of them has map exploration over 5%…and even that one is below 40%.
-Elite Specs, I got 5 toons…that’s 2000 points to grind, in a PvE zone which I couldn’t care less about b4 I even get to play it and by the time I’ve finished grinding I’ll be bored of it.
-Legendary armor? Why, I’ve got ascended sets.
-Also really? No kittening NEW beards for humans? Really?

All I care about is new classes to use in WvW/sPvP, some new fractals, raids, and cool armor skins. So far HoT got nothing of the mentioned above, and yes since you can’t use elite specs from the get go in WvW/Fractals they don’t count. It’s not a new character, it’s a new trait line…no reason to hide it behind a grind wall.

Liisjak.4509

Right, so this QQ is on the bases that U want the Elite specialisation for free?.. claiming this is a barrier and not content?..

Right, so No PvEr is going to raid?… No PvEr will do world Bosses?…. No PvEr could possibly have interests in WvW, Litterally 100% of the community complete Quests then AFK in main towns for the Rest of their lives?… Not even guild missions?….

im sorry but the statements ridiculous, theres NOTHING ELSE TO SPEND THE kitten THINGS ON, ofcourse this new specialization was GOING to involve hero points its Funded EVERY OTHER specialization throughout Guild Wars 2, to claim its suddenly wrong is ridiculous.

there is 0 terrible decisions made, dragonhunters great and is performing well in PvE and PvP and the reasons to refuse having it all together is ridiculous, to claim it was a waste of money without the elite is ridiculous, as im pretty sure PvErs mainly bought this Expansion FOR THE NEW PVE CONTENT.

400 hero points is steep, i did feel like maybe slightly too high, but to outright Say theres 0 justification to it.. and nothing to do after u’ve done it is just bullcrap, i did feel it should be on the Same sorta guideline of grind for any other Specialization, as these elites are ment to ADD to the proffession and not replace it, so the reasoning for it to be so much higher then the rest is ridiculous.

but at the end of the day, some inconviences exist.

So you’re saying the content is so poorly made that they have to “force” people into completing it or else they cannot get their elites? Ye, sounds about right.

I kinda feel bad for them, they bought it and now they gotta grind it xD

Fractals on the other hand were not part of the expansion. At least the ones up to level 50 and should have stayed the same. You wanna play 50+, buy the expansion…that I could live with.

They put the live GW2 on hold, cuz they’re working on the expansion so they won’t attract anybody…which is bullkitten and bad marketing. Should have slowly added some kind of living story that gradually merges with the expansion in real time. Also they GemGated the LS S2, so new players will have no clue what the story is about in the expansion(1 day of ugly White Wings on sale probably nets them more money).

Soon™ doesn’t work if your game is mediocre and pay2play to begin with, don’t try to imitate Blizzard or hell…even Riot does a better job at communication.

PvE is boring, since it’s only Zerk-Stacking meta in a corner or speed runs. You can kitten over trinity as much as you want, but I had way more fun doing PvE in Tera with my Lancer.

I think the problem is rewarding healing is like rewarding people to play bad.

I always found this point of view to be rather myopic.

It’s not entirely wrong in a game where you can actually avoid taking damage though. Healing is reactive, which means you need to be hurt before healing can be effective. The reason why healing isn’t a sign of playing badly in standard MMOs is because you can’t avoid damage in them. In GW2 you can however.

That’s one of the main reasons why I think in order to make healing really fit with GW2s sensibilities throwing healing at people needs to be a positive thing even if they aren’t taking damage.

That makes no sense. You don’t go to the doctor’s and ask for antibiotics when you aren’t sick. You don’t put your arms in casts when they aren’t broken. You don’t go for healing when you have nothing to be healed.

If no one needs healing, why should people waste heals?

It’s a kittening video game, even pets are are regarded as classes…and you’re comparing it with real life.

Exclusive PvP reward ? ugh!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Liisjak.4509

Comparing PvP to PvE is like comparing Major League with Kindergarden, skillwise. Tho, in early lvls people tend to rage and kitten on others a lot. I’m about rank 50 and I don’t get any of the toxic behaviour, also the games became enjoyable.

Note, I did speedruns…it’s just, they’re boring as hell. After 2 runs I kinda felt the need to bash my head into a wall how stupid that is. If I really feel masochistic, I camp Silverwaster…it feels more profitable and easier.

"Meta" does not mean "Most Effective"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Liisjak.4509

Liisjak.4509

“Meta” is some general tactic that works in the current situation. The meta gets stale when Devs have no idea on how to shake things up. It’s like how PvE involves zero tactics, no need for support classes/dmg soaking classes…just pure bash your head on the keyboard and dps. They were trying to think outside the box, too bad they created the most boring PvE in history of all MMOs.

Also, it brings the problem of metakittens. Which are basically sheeps that can’t think for themselves and have no desire to try out something new, or just wait for somebody else to come up with an idea.

Using individual pieces from outfits?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Liisjak.4509

Liisjak.4509

They won’t do that cuz it takes effort. It’s easier to just throw out an all-in-one outfit, and even then they kinda fail (monk’s outfit anyone?).

The point of outfits is that it’s all or nothing. If you could mix and match parts, then it would be another set of armor.

  • The advantage to ANet is less effort, which means they can release more outfits.
  • The advantage to the player is that the outfits mean you can swap/upgrade armor without changing looks and there are never transmutation costs.

If all things were equal, it would be better for the game and ANet’s bottom line to have more armor sets and fewer outfits. Since, however, all things aren’t equal, outfits are a reasonable compromise.

But it’s limiting the options to customize your character.

It might be easier for them to release “crap” content more often, but we’re talking about quality and variety of options here. The whole end-game is about appearance customization, since there’s literally nothing past ascended armor and there wont be(1 skin set for each type unlike weapons that have different colours), also the appearance of said armor is nothing to write home about.

Actually the only outfit that I dig is the Balthazar one, but you have only 3 options to dye it…so again, you get bored of it fairly quickly. Also if you remove the helmet, you look weird, like you lost your neck in the process of removing the head piece.

If you bang the same mob for the heart, doesnt it…kinda…make…it faster?

Unless you want some kind of bonus experience for the sake of bromance.

No it doesn’t cause we normally run out of mobs and have to find crap to click on the ground, we have to find 2x more because it doesn’t share and then have to wait on the one that’s not done… so in the end, it’s faster when we’re solo.

Under most circumstances the stuff you interact with on the ground is also account-bound. In like 85% of the cases it will only be used by you and your friend will be able to use it as well.

Was just about to point that out.
