That’s basically Archeage, GW2 is quite different so none of those would actually work in this game… well maybe fishing would actually work, but the rest is possible only in a non instanced game.

Considering that Archeage gives everything you want and a lot more, and it’s a f2p game… you could just play that and GW2, I think I will.

Like everything else in this game…

Okay so basically all I see is that everyone hates mounts cause you guys are to lazy to ride around on them and go adventure through the terrain!!! you guys just want to WP to a god kitten way point and take the aspect of venturing the world more than once.

It’s not about being lazy, the game was created so that people wouldn’t need mounts. You can walk easily from a place to another with just a speed buff, you also often need to jump or swim to get from place to another and with a mount it would be annoying.

Arenanet could make new maps giving us the options to ride something, like they did in GW1 where you had to enter a wurm to get through sands that make damage over time, similar to the sands that we have now in Dry Top.

Another fun thing would be a new wvw map with mounted combat… but except from single particular occasions, mounts would be annoying instead of useful in the rest of the world map.

I suppose this has been already given as a suggestion but, like in the first GW, they could just make a hard mode version of the dungeons or even the open maps we already have, of course this also means a lot more gold gained, items dropped should be only rares and from the chests we should have mostly exotics or ascended items, maybe also new titles for those who complete the new zones/dungeons. ( I’d prefer new content though, adding a new difficulty seems a bit lazy to me)

It’s ok to fix stuff, but mesmers have been suffering for two years because of the bugs afflicting many of their skills. Why would they only fix the skills that had a good use and just ignore the ones that are totally useless?

I know GW2 is not GW, but if I think back at what kept me playin for so long on the first GW.. it’s because every 6 months or so we had a whole new region to explore, two new classes, new skills to get and new hard endgame zones to complete. Here on GW2 we get a repetitive content to farm for two weeks until something new to farm comes out.

Wait .. so you will tell us GW1 had 12 expansions ? Over 6 years ever 6 month .. thats 12 for me .. or at least 11.

The first new chapter came out after one year from propehcies, then another one after 6 months and the other one after 8 or 9 months I think. Anyway, on GW2 they could do medium sized updates every 3 months, but with a lot more stuff and more polished.

It’s true that having such small updates makes people get bored faster, I suppose Arenanet does that so that people will keep on logging every two weeks, they check the gemstore more often and maybe they buy new stuff.

I know GW2 is not GW, but if I think back at what kept me playin for so long on the first GW.. it’s because every 6 months or so we had a whole new region to explore, two new classes, new skills to get and new hard endgame zones to complete. Here on GW2 we get a repetitive content to farm for two weeks until something new to farm comes out.

It’s just my opinion, but maybe things could get better if

1) we had big updates every 3 months or so, with huge new maps to explore and, as soon as we’re done exploring Tyria, even whole new regions.

2) New guild bosses every 6 months with a small update on the previous boss every 3 months with new items (for example the Triple Trouble wurm was released 6 months ago and only has 3 pieces of armor to get, would be nice if they updated the wurm to let us get the rest of the armor).

3) A new class every 6 months (or one every year if in 6 months it’s not possible). This is probably the most difficult thing since it’s not easy to create something totally new every 6 or12 months. Most of the old classes we had on GW are reborn into the classes we have now on GW2, maybe only the dervish could be something totally new (well, they will have to remove the human race elite skills since they are similar to the Dervish’s “avatar” elite skills).

4) New exclusive weapons/armors we can get through missions/dungeons/achievements, not random drops or gem store items. Something we have to work hard to get and that takes time, but not because it’s hard to drop (like precursors or any kitten ed RNG drop). This is probably one of the worst problems, we have Legendary weapons that have nothing of legendary and someone could skip every step to obtain them and just buy them on the TP. We need unique armor/weapons, account bound and hard to get.

I don’t think that housing or mounts would fit in GW2, we already have our own instance in every capital and mounts would be just estetic items since we have waypoints that already allow us to move fast between maps. They could make mounts but they would be like the Enchanted Broom we got during the Halloween event, they would be items to buy in the gem store… it’s not something that would keep players busy in the game to obtain them.

There is a difference between doing hard/challenging content, and giving awesome rewards for doing that, and placing a well liked item behind RNG.

RNG means somebody could get two of them in a week, while another farms the event constantly, every day that it’s active, and gets NOTHING. That isn’t appealing at all IMO.

If you make it so there is a set reward, IE, complete this challenging task and get this item, that’s fine. If you do a “Oh, well this drops from that challenging boss… On a very small chance…” that’s not as cool IMO.

As the OP said, we were talking about the item being sold in gem store vs the item being a reward for an achievement like Liadri’s minipet (or crafted). I don’t like RNG either, I think the best rewards should be received through achievements or a token system.

Whilst it would please players to get a nice new cosmetic for running through events there are a couple of other things to consider -
1) You’re asking for full reward for playing the game exactly like you play it. That sort of post occurs often on the forums. This is particularly true for cosmetics where players want the cosmetic for themselves but don’t want it to be so common that everyone else wears it too.
2) The story events are designed to be completed by everyone, absolutely everyone. Giving rewards for that will be like giving rewards for logging on.

Having said that, it would make sense for an armor set to be available through LS2, one piece at a time. That would encourage players to get every chapter.

Actually they said somewhere that the LS2 will be much harder than the first one, so it could be possible that for some really hard achievement they could give a specific weapon/armor skin as reward.

I really hope to see less RNG stuff and more rewards based on clearing hard content, or a token system in case of hard bosses since we can’t get everything by just killing him once or twice (it’s also true that it’s not hard to make an achievement that you can repeat… like kill 30 times the Triple Trouble wurm and you get a Regurgitated Armor Chest).

For the pve I think that even just saving traits and maybe skills from 6 to 0 would be enough, weapons and armors get often swapped, modified in some way (could be stats wise or aesthetically) so I wouldn’t bother with that. The most annoying thing is to change everytime our traits, now that we can easily reset them and change them any time it would be perfect to save a trait setup.

In pvp instead we don’t have a problem with the runes/sigils/amulets etc since they’re all automatically unlocked, so it would be nice to save everything but, like for the pve, I would leave out any dye/skin/finisher option.

Make it simple, and hopefully we will see it soon in the game

I think that if they’re not going to release just short boring single player dungeons, this change could be really interesting. The 200gems price is only for the past LS, so it’s not a big issue (they could unlock them automatically for those who were already playing back then, just an idea).
I like the idea of a difficult story we can repeat any time to do achievements and unlock new titles/minipets/skins (hopefully they will all be account bound).

If together with that they keep on releasing some open world zerg content and every 6 months or so also a new boss for 150 players (into an instance this time, please… let us organize fast with the LFG tool avoiding the megaservers), I think the game will be amazing

What is wrong is that normal items like this recipe, that is the same as Grenth and Dwayna’s backpiece recipes, are so overpriced only because the drop rate is low.

If they wanted the god’s backpieces to be so expensive, it should have been all or none of them. Balthazar’s backpiece can be acquired with some pvp, so basically free… all this difference has no real reason except the stupid rng.

They try different things. Some weapon skins were found in BL chests. Some were sold directly through the gem shop. Some were found in event-specific containers. Eventually they decided on a single method.

So it doesn’t surprise me that some back skins are more/less common than others, because they went through the same process before. Remember that the recipe is rare right now but that doesn’t mean it will always be. Patience.

That is a different thing, it’s the reason why we’re writing here the recipe it’s rare right now, but we want it to be less rare. So there IS a reason to voice our discontent on the forum.

Do you think this is fun for the players? For example you talk about Tequatl, I’ve been killing that dragon for months everyday and I still haven’t got a single Hoard. I’ve killed the wurm around 80 times, haven’t got the Wurmslayer armor ( or the minipet..).

Seriously, I like this game but sometimes I don’t understand how you guys can’t see that rng is not fun, give us a token system for this kind of things that are even account bound (so it’s not like we’re going to make tons of money on it).

If so many players hate RNG then why do they sell so many dye packs and BL keys? There are multiple weapons and sets of armor you can buy for karma and dungeon tokens, but the only one that players used to wear a lot was from CoF. That fad has passed and these items are all but ignored except as MF fuel to try and get a random precursor drop. It’s the same with rare and exotic weapons, while rare individually they drop in great enough numbers that many players see them only as material to salvage for runes and ectos or throw into the MF.

The most popular and expensive items in the game tend to be RNG-based. Precursors/Legendaries, extremely rare dyes from gem shop dye packs and other rare dyes like Abyss… Before they were added to the weapon ticket vendor, Fused weapon skins were more prized than anything except Legendaries, far more popular than the Wintersday weapons that were sold directly through the gem shop.

Complain about it if you want, but player behavior overwhelmingly indicates that the chase to find random drops drives most of the players, and vendor-based items are all but ignored. The devs collect data from many different sources, and if the RNG based methods were not successful, they wouldn’t be handing out ticket scraps and unidentified dyes.

You really think that if people had a choice, they would be wasting time with rng? If you could get a precursor with 1000 tokens of every dungeon (for example), do you think people would still be throwing exotics in the mystic toilet?

The fact is that if you want a certain item, you usually have only one choice.
Of course if we’re talking about legendary weapons, I’m ok with them being rare (they’re not anymore, but nevermind). But if we talk about normal items being overpriced just becaue something in the game doesnt work, then I’m sorry but I really think it should be fixed.

Another example could be the Immobulus, it’s a simple exotic item but it costs as much as a precursor only because you need 250 Giant’s Eyes.. a material that drops less than a precursor. Is this normal to you? I think there should be a reason if an item i overpriced, not just because something in the game doesn’t drop.

If we had a choice, things would be different you can’t say “players do that, so it works”.

Going back to the Chaos of Lyssa, same thing… repeating the same bosses everyday to farm bags and to get absolutely NOTHING is not fun. And it’s for a recipe like other in the game, that are wort 3 or 4 gold. It’s not normal to pay 3k gold for it only for an obvious drop rate error.

Be honest for once Arenanet, don’t repeat the same error as the Final Rest.

It’s always intended until a bug fix is in place. But considering it ends tomorrow it goes on the list of things they don’t care to fix this time around.

It ends in one month, 1 July.. when the new Living story starts. So maybe they’ll fix this… I hope to see the fix together with the merchant of the WvW tournament weapons.

That offer of 1500g is there since a while. I yet need a single person coming here to prove that they are still dropping. 3 avaiable in a pot of 5kk + opened chances? This makes that if anytime anet decide to put legendary backpieces in the game, this item will be pointless then.

It’s funny that someone wrote about the Chaos of Lyssa on another thread and a dev told him to write in another thread or to open one if there’s not a thread on that issue… seriously? there have been several… are they playing dumb?

Edit: It’s also true that that he was not related to the items drop rate issue, I think he worked on the lore of the game so he couldn’t say anything on the Chaos of Lyssa issue… but still, they follow the forum and they know if several thread appear on the same problem.

The drop rate is higher the more gambits you have on the boss. So if you’re killing the first boss with no gambits over and over your chance will be much smaller.

Personally, I don’t think any back skin is amazing enough to justify such a price. And this is just for the recipe too. :/

That’s a visual bug on the trading post. If you click on it you will see that there are no items available, but the highest buy order is 1999g 99s 99c.

Would be funny if the intended drop rate was like 0.1% chance per ticket but was actually 0.01% (1:10 000).

Even though the backpiece does look very nice I don’t agree that the recipe itself should be this difficult to obtain. If it was a legendary backpiece then sure.

Yeah, that’s what I thought… they probably messed with the drop rate. Anyway, someone said that in the last livestream they announced they would check the drop rate of the recipe. Hope to have a fix tomorrow, meanwhile I’ll start farming silk (13gold for a bolt of damask on the TP …)

For all those people who are putting up +1000G buy orders, you guys are going to be hit hard and waste money. All it takes is Anet to do a quick hotfix or even one patch to adjust the price. When Final Rest was fixed, the first sell listings were in the 3-4 figures and dropped in less than a day to 2 figures.

The same will happen to this recipe when Anet fixes it, which I’m confident will happen.

Unless you play 24/7 and can immediately remove your listing once the patch notes hit, I suggest to use that 1000g elsewhere.

Anet will never let an item this exclusive rise to outrageous prices unless they gave everyone a fair chance at acquiring them. Right now the chance is no where near fair, so they will adjust that.

If your looking for a good example, I think you can remember the Molten Backpack, which did not have a high drop rate (higher than this by quite a large margin though), but it was far less accessible as it required a full dungeon run plus having a group of 5 etc.

That was an exclusive item that some people (solo people for instance) had no shot at. Even an abysmal drop rate from the guantlet is more accessible to those people than the jetpack was. And then it was gone a few weeks later never to return (yet).

This back item looks pretty awesome, I wouldn’t be suprised at all if they didn’t change anything around the drop rate, and were satisfied with only a handful coming out. (sub 100) over the course of the event.

There is a difference, the jetpack skin could be applied immediatly.. this is just a recipe. After you buy this you need to buy or craft all the ascended materials before you can actually have the backpiece. Considering that they’ll probably make a backpiece for every other God (so far we have 4, but Dwayna/Grenth/Balthazar are quite easy to get/buy), I think they all should be around the same price/drop rate.

Liadri is not too easy but she doesn’t need a nerf either. Liadri is fine as it is now, many have killed her, so it’s not impossible.

They only needed to remove the shield around the arena because the camera is already awful as it is without the roof blocking the view, they even made the aoe much easier to see. What you need is the right build, patience to memorize the pattern of the spawns and some skill. If you lack any of those, just avoid her…

Yes I agree, I would understand such price and a very low drop rate if we would directly drop the backpiece, but all this just for the recipe?? What was Arenanet thinking? I want to think it’s just a bug in the drop rate, but even so… people already wasted hundreds of tickets now.

Putting it in an instance would classify it as a raid. But then how many are allowed in an instance? Same as a full map? You’d still have the exact same issues. Players joining instance not knowing what they are doing, not listening to instructions, trolling, or not actively involved in the event, just tagging and waiting for loot. It wouldnt really solve anything. Plus it goes against anets view of open world events. If you want raids there are other games for that. Guild wars 2 isnt one of them. It was designed that way on purpose.

If they want to make bosses for 150 players, they could still make a huge instanced area to fit those people (or three medium rooms in case of bosses that require three grups, like the wurm). About random players flowing the instances, they could easily give an option to guild leaders and officers to open a LFG message visible only to guild members or players invited directly by the leaders. In case they still need other people they could open up the instance and let random players join.

I’m not against open world events, but I think there is a limit they should not cross if they want the game to be fun and not stressful. The difficulty of the marionette was ideal for an open world event, the wurm would be better into an instanced dungeon.

Please, no more classes with pets or clones since Arenanet can’t make them work correctly.

Anyway, probably a heavy armor fighter will be the next class since we only have two. Maybe a sort of Dreadknight, a warrior with curses to weaken the enemies and that can use fear.

But personally I’ve always been curious about the Chronomancer that was showed in some artworks before Eye of the North was released, would be nice to know what kind of skills he had and if they can use that idea in GW2.

Teq and Triple trouble have failed in all the pugs I’ve done. Teq usually fails at the megalasers or before that, the last two I did a tag didn’t even show up for it. I asked in chat if anyone had completed Teq, most hadn’t or did about 2 months ago. Compared to Karka Queen these events are hard if the pug is composed of people that have never done them, or only once, because it involves co-ordination, which pugs in general aren’t very good at.

Without organization, yes. But if everyone even just slightly cared about defeating Tequatl, they would read the online guides and they would know what to do by now.

If the event fail it’s because people think that you can just stand there while pressing 1 and 2 like the karka queen.

The only fix Tequatl (and the Wurm) need is to the loot, not worth the time spent. If only the Ascended stuff dropped more often, at least the unique items related to the bosses. they are account bound, why did they make them so hard to get? -.- it’s not like precursors, that can be sold and are worth hundreds of gold.

Also a token system would be nice, so after something like 50 kills we would be able to choose a weapon or armor by ourselves instead of this stupid rng drops.

Stop whining about wanting free kitten from arenanet. They don’t need to give you anything.What they need to do is call the programers and tell them too look into things. I know that its jesus day and all that but they still need to fix game breaking bugs ASAP.

It’s not about having FREE stuff, it’s about receiving the chests that we already should have received playing.

This is getting really annoying, can we at least know if we’ll get back all the missing chests? Because otherwise it’s just a waste of time to play until you fix this bugs.

I suppose I won’t get any answers in any case, it’s so useless to write on this forum.

Dailies reset yesterday, now 4/5 today.

Wait.. what do you mean the monthly reset? O.o Mine jumped to 4/4 and I haven’t got anything after April 15. Should I have received the monthly again?

Well for me after completing Karka there was no chest, and then of course the whole game client crashed. Upon reloading the map, the chest was right in front of me Moral of the story, everything’s messed up.

You mean the chest on the ground or the daily chest? I was missing the daily chest but I got the chest on the ground (but from the Wurm in my case).

Same thing for the Triple Trouble wurm event, I didn’t get the daily Wurm’s Golden Chest… I know the loot is so terrible that it seems like we don’t get any, but at least let us try opening the chests^^
