So..nerf to SoI which will destroy build diversity in pve, not only for mesmers. In wvw there is enough dumb crap(dura runes etc) that its gonna still be hell. And mes will be back to veil bot and occasional portal. For pvp it doesnt matter.

Did revs really needed additional nerf? They dont have top damage, they allready got indirectly nerfed with huge mesmer nerf…seems to me like another forced by wvw change which wont even solve problem in wvw.

“increasing both damage and a few different baseline boon durations” sounds like another irrelevant scepter buff.

Sounds like pretty terrible ‘balance’ patch.

clayton, he means Major Adept trait in Curses spec. “When your conditions meet the threshold, your next critical hit will cast Plague Signet on your target.”

I dunno really what to think about it. On one hand, its a bit random change, and its not really op in core necro. That said, necro (and a few other classes) really need nerfs.. and i never really liked whole idea of packing traits with this kind of abilities.

Are you really surprised? Low skill celling, high survivability and damage, lotsa powerfull condis and condi transfer + corrupt on ranged auto(lolz). Also, anet killed several other classes so that limits diversity a bit.

Average number of necros in pvp match, for me at least, is 6. Min 3, max 9. And i dont expect it to change any time soon(maybe some more revs will emerge).

Is Mesmer inferior to other classes atm?

Mesmer had a showing at ESL..oh you mean that one team with a single mesmer that got totally destroyed? Your right, it was a very succesfull experiment, i learned a lot. Now whenever i want to tank my mmr i just reroll to mesmer and run around the map avoiding players. Works 100%.

Eh, warrior is bad cuz they forgot to power creep him up & rev exists. Mesmer is bad cuz they purposefully gutted him. Nothing surprising. We will get fixed…eventually..it may be by an accident but it will happen.

I think given the playstyle as well as overall effectiveness this particular mesmer build should be called ‘sightseeing’ or ‘runner’ mesmer. At least nobody gonna yell its OP and requires heavy nerf bat.

OP asked about build for specific purpose and using specific weapons. I provided, tested it too, and it works. As well as, no doubt, many other builds. Of course every situation needs different tools but thats what you learn when you play.

And he didnt ask about raid builds.

These numbers are from recent raid attempts with dps meter. With all ‘haste and alacrity’ attached. Im doing more damage solo afk on my ele pressing 1 button.

Chrono was completly fine with previous iteration of Alacrity. With their extremly low dps, they frikkin need it. What may been broken, and i dont deny it, was alacrity on other classes. Why?

Because other dps classes are frikkin power creeped to skies and beyond. Chrono amplifies damage. If some class is doing broken damage, it will do broken damage++ with chrono, surprise! And you dont bring to raids anything else than the most broken, OP crap thats currently avaliable.

Imo, the best way to deal with it would be to give all other classes mesmer treatment. Cut all those stupid amounts of damage. Either that, or apply power creep to chrono as well, add something stupid like +80% damage across all their damage abilities. But if we keep over buffing everything we may run out of health for enemies before the next expansion.

Every build is viable. I used to farm sw events on my lvl 40 norn without armor. Doesnt mean its the best thing to do.

As with chrono..all builds should do the trick, but others will need to carry your extremly low dps. Get used to it, its stample of mesmer proffesion.

I would probably take Seize the Moment, Deceptive Evasion from dueling, Inspiration Signet and wells as utils with Chrono runes, and then shatter everything with GS+fire all wells, share quickness and then swap to sword/shield until wells are up again.

Chrono CDs still aren't reduced.

Ah yes, famous high level analysis between reaper and chrono wells. I mean, you can do this comparison because, clearly, both classes are on similar power levels. That average chrono dps is just overwhelming, imo they should nerf it a bit..actually, i think reaper is way too weak and its dps too small for comparison to hold.

I mean, even assuming you can compare two different classes because their utilities are called the same, reaper is clearly weaker. Necro wells last 5 sec(comparing to 3 sec of mesmer wells) and have shorter casting times, and you can trait wells into giving prot, life-steal and shorter cd.

But think about it, you can trait mesmer wells so they give alacrity! 2 sec of the most OP buff in the galaxy! Cuts out about 0,5 sec from cooldown per well! Incredible! We all know mesmers have 12 utility slots, so its at least 50 sec of alacrity to everyone and their family!
Not only that, but they look stylish, that purple, that clock graphic, pure delight! Every enemy will complement you on your choice of utilities!

As you can clearly see from this very detailed and in-depth comparison, it turns out that actually chrono wells in their current state are overpowered, as well as all related and unrelated skills and traits.

Imo all chrono wells should get recharge time doubled, and decreased mesmer sword dps by 69%. All necro wells should corrupt up to 3 boons per tick to compensate.

Gaile is taking a look at our situation!

What, buff mesmer? You kiddin, gotta be carefull to not overbuff scepter, whatya expected, +66% dmg buff to clearly underpowered, never used weapon? Phah!

But dont worry guys, next +5% incoming in just a few months, assuming all 4 people that will stay on mesmer will yell loud enough. Gonna probably remove quickness from time warp though, to compensate. Mes is huge dps boost to a team, you see, my dog did calculations that clearly show chrono support, and Quickness sharing in particular, is way too OP.

Anyway, swapped my main pve class to ele, now semi afk doing 3x more damage than before, and still retaining some support abilities.

And pvp..screw that. You wait 4 min in queue and fight necros, necros, and more necros.

Mesmer deals damage, anet pls. They have quickness and blink and moa and stealth and alacrity and buffed scepter and 7 specialisations with all traits at the same time.

Decrease their damage by 33% and decrease their base health by 66%. And when they use elite they should get stunned for 5 sec. And remove their blur.

Mesmer main btw. So disgusted that todays mesmer is so ez faceroll, mesmers used to require skill! Kappa

Chronobunker was dead already with rez quickness change. Alacrity change was made to totally kitten all chrono builds in every game mode cuz whole chrono spec line resolves around Alacrity, as well as all chrono util cooldowns.

Unless its a buff. +5% attack speed on scepter, cuz anything more would break the game. I mean…that legendary mesmer dps. Theyre prob hiding from us +2,5% damage increase on scepter on third auto or something of similar tier..if there are indeed some more ‘buffs’ incoming.

Its already weaker than thief, after balance patch buffing thiefs and nerfing mes even more so. Condi? Good luck with that. Bunker? Thiefs cant counter something that do not exists. Mes/chrono wont exist in pvp after these changes unless anet is hiding from us some amazing 50% or better damage buffs. Which, given the history of ‘balancing’ mesmers.. yea.

Im expecting at most another +5% buff, but they will prob need to compensate it somehow. Imo they should cut quickness effectiveness by half, its already too strong as is. And remove distortion on F4, put aegis instead.

Its gonna be as always. Small buff to scepter that wont change anything in pve nor pvp(maybe breaking some scepter trait in the process), and to compensate, Alacrity will be nerfed to the ground cuz people yell at their favourite scapegoat.

One hope is that their last nerf(Well of precog) was reasonable… long casting time sucks but given the noise every druid and rev was making i was expecting wells to be destroyed..maybe just maybe they wont destroy alacrity too.

I really like different kinds of events, as well as the fact they activate on the entire map. Rewards one can buy with blooms are pretty darn cool.

4 main issues i have with Mordrem Invasion event:

-Rewards connected to personal stacks and only to personal stacks.

-Pretty slow aquisition of Blooms(daily chest is a boost, but getting more than that is a pain)

-Its hard to actually catch event(only 4 days + only at certain time)

-Mordrem die really fast, even champs

Tbh, first 3 problems i feel are the worst, since their result is that you want skins or potion and in effect feel forced to appear on every single invasion and fly from event to event tagging mordrem. Or just give up since bloom drop is so low and getting more so hard.
Its hard to appreciate event in either scenario.

Heavy dmg, two health bars, lots of chill, short cooldown leap + pull, long stability in reaper shroud.. i feel like they were buffed too much.

Their lifeforce generation is so high that staying at range takes forever to kill em(in team fights anyway) and good luck if you want to try and kill them at melee. Besides, they always have second weapon slot for staff to chill/fear/tranfer condis in case some ranged is required and pull is on cd. And running away is pretty hard when your enemy has gap closer, pull, loads of chill+ some cripple while being immune to hard cc at the same time.

Thats just my initial impression, i will make my mind for sure during next beta when i will try them out myself.. so far these are my thoughts from playing against various reapers(using engi and ranger, a bit of ele).

It will prob work the same way as ‘nerf’ to ice bow a while ago, so…add burn to auto, add heal to water 3, reduce cd on cleansing fire to 20 sec, reduce RtL to 20 sec, fire 5 is now a blast. I dont think damage needs adjustment, but just to be sure increase damage values by 15%.
To compensate nerf necro and remove stealth from mesmers.

Respect the LFG, if that's the soloution.

No, lfg doesnt always work, for Meta acolytes and non meta. No, its not all the time, but enough to make people tired/angry. Yup, people joining lfg should read lfg description, doesnt matter, Meta/non meta.

That would be a start. Then some balancing towards fire fields would be cool, because while they exist in their current shape there is literally no reason to have any utilities that give might. +other things, but thats another topic.

The real annoying thing is when Meta people enter ‘all welcome’ team and start whine about team comp, and whine about other proffs, and whine about how others play until they leave or get kicked. Or when you enter some other team just to find out they expect full zerker, Meta build, and actually you should switch proff as well, on the lfg which only requirement was ‘lvl 80’.
So far my experience with Meta followers was entirely negative one. Being in a guild with a lot of new people fresh to the game i know that a lot of them had bad first impression of gw2 dungs because of the Meta community.
I really wish i just had a bad luck in the matter and its not as wide and toxic as it seems to be..

because reflect damage totally depends on power stat of the mes .. sign. But yea mobs attack too slow for confusion. Torment actually deals bunch of dmg, but since maim nerf we cant apply it good enough…aa chain from scepter is a little too little. And about mes bleed…we still havnt got any Dueling Discipline fix or however was called that bugged trait, right? So there is that about mesmer condis.

Meh, too many ways of abusing it. We already have tomes of knowledge. We already have Edge of the Mist. Assuming both would be disabled, you could probably still just log out when in downed state and ‘save’ your char. And then hardcore mode would be legendary grind mode..

Imo zerker meta is caused by 3 things…
1)Too high base armor/hp/healing. Even in pure glass cannon you can still take quite a few hits from anything but some champs and legendary creatures. And even if you take dmg, you can easly heal it up without investing even a single point in healing power.

2)Fire field blasting too effective. It gives too much might and said might is on too long duration. This is pretty much the cause of class racism, cuz classes with blasts and fire fields are much better than the rest, bah, obligatory even.

3)Design problems…monsters are stupid(line-of-sight AI exploit) and predictable(every attack which is even remotely dangerous is telegraphed with at least one second, sometimes even more..) usually having just one gimmick you need to avoid and your golden.

This hardmode doesnt solve any of these problems…at least in my opinion.

Roaming mesmer is pretty strong, be it power shatter or condi pu. On the other hand, mesmer in zerg is only utility bot, with veil before engaging/portal for golems.

After trying to zerg a little bit i just switched to my necro..much bigger damage+safer. Main advantages of a mesmer(spawning lots of clones, stealth) are largely negated in zerg fights due to insane amounts of enemy aoe’s.

I wanted to reply on amazing 3 phantasms ether signet full stealth PU OP 15k+ dmg build but i cant, because its so amazing i cant stop laughing. Please, lets not stop on this, lets go further to deeps not discovered by any pr0 level(or sane for that matter) mesmer!

3 phantasmal defender stealth tactic! You cant kill them because they have sooo much hp(and Shields!) and will kill you dealing over 16k+ dmg! And its party support, when in 5v5 it soaks all damage from all allies too making them immortal! And mesmer offc whole time capping from stealth while enemies are astounded by amazing look of Phantasmal Defenders! Its perfect!

Yea, sure, you wont break speed-run record but it should work, not like dungeons are black magic-impossible level difficulty. Just do it with your guild/friends. Friendly Meta Community will kick you the moment they will see scepter/staff.

Personally i hated staff a lot until i tried once frac 46 with some random pugs.. it earned my respect. Aoe daze + aegis saved our butts on Cliffside.

Cool, another one of these ..
“Perma” invisible mesmer exploding with shatters every 5 sec, occasionally bursting with flames(so stealthy) and leaving behind rifts that obviously give no clue to anyone that there is a mes nearby.

Also, sacrificing 2/3 utility slots, elite slot, all damaging traits, all shatters in the process. You may be able to kill a golem or wvw sentry but its gonna be a long and epic battle.

Obviously, such ‘perma’ stealth-no dmg build is something truly scary in pvp, which by definition requires killing people and capping points(hint hint, cant cap points while stealthed) to win.

In fact, mesmer is so OP in pvp that all high level tournament teams have at least one if not whole mesmer-team composition, just check out the most recent tournament. Imo winner just had too many mesmers.

In wvw, i agree, this build looks solid. I do enjoy sweeping keeps and killing foolish mesmers who think torch skill actually helps them be sneaky, and with this build they wont even be able to deal any kind of damage. Free loot bag!

So..new elite is a well with weak dmg, long cooldown and 2 sec of hard cc after 3 sec?.. ehh.

In pve, its not worth for trash mobs cuz long cd and there are other, better ways of dmg mitigation/stability. For bosses its not worth since even signet of domination(util skill) is straight out better.

In pvp ..yea i see how people stand in my elite for 3 sec. And even then simple break-stun/stab destroys all advantage.

In wvw, for roaming it looks useless. For zerg fights, even more since it works only for 5 targets and in big zerg there will be a lot of stability to chew through anyway.

…its not worth elite slot in its current state. In fact, i would not take it if it was utility skill cuz there are no practical applications for it in pve and its effects are so kitten easy to avoid/negate in pvp/wvw.

Im gonna test it i guess, have some fun with floating moa and risen chickens.. seems like it needs some serious buffs already.

So, based on assumptions made in this thread..mesmers are the most powerfull, followed by necro, then engi. Ranger and guard are ‘meh’ classes. And totally the worst and the weakest of them all are ele, thief and warrior. Mm…cant say anything about ranger or warrior because didnt play them in pvp, but when i hear ‘ele, thief’ and ‘weak’ in a single sentence i think ‘contradiction’.

Making traits baseline is just a way to balance things, like all other number tweaks and buffs/nerfs.

On a side related note Illusionary Elasticity doesnt work with Mirror Blade anymore which was the main reason to take this trait anyway. MB is in worse place than it was before all the patching since you cant even trait to get more bounces.

I only wish instability for scale 100 will be:
“Wild elemental magic”
Blasting fire applies weakness instead of might. Blasting water deals damage instead of healing. All conjured weapons spawn enemies instead(eg instead of ice bow you summon angry ice elemental).

Just as a side note to ‘adapting to instabilities and playing in different way’.

After re-entering gw2 HoM(first time it didn’t work) all rewards were unlocked and got my skins + pets. Now my mesmer runs around with fiery dragon sword + Fire God gloves and ranger got his Black Widow. Thank you.

Agree, you craft one expensive legendary, then other one, merge them together and all you get visually is glowing hilt and some orange orbs.
Or you dont merge them and have 2 legendary greatswords instead of one with basically same visual.
Or you merge them, get both skins, and get 4k gold.. its like 1,5 more legendaries. I will take 1,5 leg over glowing hilt and orbs.

Also, that eternity skin you showed looks awesome! Me wants…

Most of the people i know made their minds about the event at the moment it was announced. Part of me thought some would try and find some way to utilize clever tactics since event clearly put all things upside-down..no, everything is the same just in golems.

I was hearing so much that anet ignores wvw, and how stale it is. Now change happened. And all are united in QQ’ing change, cuz they dont really want any change, they just want to do what they usually do in a way they usually do.

Ugh. Just give them some ram skins anet, wvw people clearly dont want to try anything new, they just want the same with more sparkles.

Its still a kitten long time and they are still postponing it every time they make update while making new weapon skins, beta tests and even trait + lions arch overhaul. Its a bug fix, and bug fixes should have priority right?

Why, its already fixed! They disabled it so they can focus on more important matters than bug fix. This way people who abused the Hall when it was broken dont need to worry fix will erase anything from their account, and developers can focus on Heart of Thorns so we can all buy it!

Heh..45/50 here, been playing gw2 since 3 months. Totally understand your anger..my advice, forget about these skins. Gw2 is pretty fun game, but fix for HoM clearly has lowest possible priority..its been like 7 months its been disabled. Imo the whole discussion about Teq makes no sense right now. About the same time Teq got first killed after ‘double health balance patch’ people learned about guardian sick damage bug.

Did your map won because you were awesome, organized, full zerker no death 1337 players, or you just had more than average guardian ratio and they carried you with their insane game-breaking damage output. And how can you know know which of the two happened?

Really, before we argue about Teq being broken we should wait until our own Player Characters are not broken and deal damage they supposed to.

We can really go on and on about other stuff that needs work. I can add from myself: Shatterer too easy, Jungle Wurm not having enough health, bugged Ogre Wars, no new Fractals, dungeon’s need to be improved, wvw needs new features, no template system.. if someone wants to find other ‘more important’ fix to work on, there is a lot of em. For each person different..

We are beyond a point of ‘its hard’, ‘we dont want to rush’, ‘there is other stuff to work on’. Its been simply too long, i respected these excuses 3, 4 months ago, not now. And im not angry, im just tired of constantly hearing ‘soon’, waiting with anticipation to next big update and then seeing ‘Content temporarily disabled, check again later[lol]’, followed by another ‘soon’ + a few people ‘good, hush, no rush’.

And making noise about the matter is good because there is no obvious sign that its disabled. Check gw1 website, wiki’s, everything. Only one-line note in patch half year ago + small forum threads popping up from time to time. I had no idea it was disabled until after I spoke with Kimmes.

Please Anet, fix it. Pleease.

So..how long was it? 7 months? 9 months? I lost count.. and people say to not ‘rush’ them. Yea right, when you look at how much time have passed it sounds funny. Man, i sure was optimistic when i got into the game with 45/50 and was asking people how to get my earned rewards i was promised from gw1..

Anet, please. Give it a priority for a week or two, get this bug fixed. I dont want yet another set of black lion weapon skins, i want MY skins.

I would say it will take them at least until release of HoT. And im trying not to think about all 30 skins waiting for me in HoM.. makes me want to wear tin foil and make conspiracy theories.

Like the fact that this bug only hurts small portion of players. Majority either dont care or actually benefits from locked rewards(think about it, not a single person got these skins from a few months now..if it was a normal not-accountbinded item, it would have a price of precursor by now). Should it all be unlocked now? Hell no, take your time devs, no need to let others have our skins rush things!

Its been so long and were still on ‘shotgun solution, just turn that thing off’ stage. And information about HoM being disabled is so buried right now, new players have 0 chance to know that linking between gw1 and gw2 do not work.

Ehhh, i know its all paranoia. But gimme a break, every time i see a ranger with black widow running past me i die a lill bit inside.
