I could be wrong, but it seems like someone at Anet decided to encourage the raid team to post in this thread. Of course it’s possible that each individual is posting of their own accord. Regardless, the flood of employee tags in this thread is really great to see. I hope Anet recognizes the positive response I know they’ll receive for such simple communication. Furthermore, I really hope this encourages the leadership to mandate more community interactions. This kind of thing really is great for the health of the game and community.

Is it known that Sanctuary some times visualy disappear but is still in effect? Happened a few times in PvP vs a bunker guardian. The buble disappeared but I kept getting knockback.
LoL is the perfect example balancing “balance” and “new things”. GW2 is a joke in those two areas.
Leaderboard is such a joke. I can’t bother to buy HoT until they give some love for the PvP scene.
Came back from work and tried to connect : “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…”. Everything else on my computer works.

Small workaround as they won’t change anything and if that bothers you that much : Click on the skill to cast it on you, as if it wasn’t a targeted skill.
Why not add 3 seconds of Resistance on activation?
Could be done with HoT. Thought if it may make RF too strong?

Run Hybrid condi, run scepter, watch people melt even if they try to run… It is wonderful.
Burning is so strong for guardian atm.
Yesterday I had a lot of fun in PvP with a funky condition build.
Weapons : Scepter/Focus, Scepter/Torch
Sigils : Battle/Geomancy, Hydromancy/Doom
Runes : Balthazar
Amulet : Carrion

Basicly, you try to be in the face of your oppononent to swap as often as you can. You also have lot of pressure from distance has you have double scepter and SoJ which follows your target.
BURN, BURN, BURN!!!! Try to not use F1 to proc max burning passive with smite. Use your blocs appropriately as they trigger a 1.5k burning to opponents! Your sword is also very OP. If someone succeed in putting you down before they burn, your sword will finish them. Rekts those ranger pets so they won’t heal.
It utterly destroys everyone 1v1 except DD ele (kitten them) and maybe other cele build with lots of condi cleanse. I didn’t found condi necro to be that much of a problem. I also often 2v1 on point with my WoR and the aoe burn.
Pros : Fun, lots of burst, see enemy run from you if you are in a 1v1 situation and if they commit and try to fight you, burn trying to escape. Some support for teamfight with Purging and WoR, as well has a break stun/stab with F3 if needed.
Cons : Lack of mobility, makes you not want to go far. You mainly stay home and when it’s cleared rotate mid . Teamfight is quite hard if the enemy team focus you and your team doesn’t peel for you (you still have lots of defense with shelter, RF, F3 and scepter 5, but you can get overwhelmed easily. kitten hammer warrior with sigil of paralization). If the enemy is smart, they will open by killing your SoJ, reducing considerably your DPS.
All around, really fun and strong build, cool to roflstomp noobs but should not be viable in a high lvl PvP game.

You take damage from conditions you have on yourself while being invulnerable, it’s not bugged. Look at second sentence of this page : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Invulnerability

I would have no problem with those changes.
Problem is if you die when you defend your lord, such a long respawn time gives you no chance to come back. Lord’s death coming ! Defending is already hard…
On the flip side, if you sucessfully defend, it doesn’t have much impact as your ennemies will be respawn before you can travel the map and may already be pushing before you’re there.
Also, when people attack, they can just Leroy in the guards to kill few before dieing. It provides no disadvantage to the attacker as #1, they push further #2 they will respawn before the defender can move up.

I was interested in Stronghold as soon as you mentioned it, I watched the demo streams about it. Was glad to try it today. I’ve done about 10 game overall, almost half and half with my teammates or pugs.
The good :
First thing I wanna say is that it’s good to have some new things! Change is good for time to time to shake the meta and to liven up the scene. We definitely need to continue promoting PvP ; new maps and/or skills changes.
Love the dynamic of the map, it’s kind of overwhelming at first but there is always something to do. Could be also bad at the same time for some player because it kinda feels like you’re not doing enough, but to me it’s not a big deal.
I like the theme of the map : Pirates vs Knights. Could be nice to have some explanation and context about the events ; Is it just a fictional event for the sake of it or does it have some lore related to it? Could use more development on that side.
Heroes are good objective, they are strong enough to have an impact but not too much to break your team if you miss it.
The layers of the maps are well disposed; Lower ground in the lane and higher group on the sides.
The bad :
May be more fun to have group > 5, but you would really need to punish death a lot to do so. (see death punishment later)
Treb don’t have enough impact on the game. Being able to treb your own lord room maybe? How about being able to damage the doors with it?
Most of the time, it’s best to ignore the player when on the defense and just kill the NPC, same thing with initial push when attacking. Need to be more incentive to kill players instead of just focusing NPC.
Don’t have big comeback mechanics or we don’t know how to use it properly because when you get a lead, it’s easier to just rush and forget defense, even if they defend it successfully, lack of death penalties doesn’t do much to the defender.
NPC are too statics it would feel better to have them move around, dodge from time to time.
Timers is not fun. At some point, if the game is close enough and draw long, the winning team in points can just tank and wait for the timer. For me it’s not fun. Consider having unlimited time or puting a higher timer.
The ugly :
Need more maps and separate queue per game type (Conquest/Death match/Stronghold), at least 3.
Hero channel are not fun. Warrior rampage and GG.
Need to punish more for deaths. You can just defend, die spawn right away. A cumulative death timer should do the trick, or add a debuff of some kind when you die multiple times.
Need to replace death guards / repair doors. Supply running is kinda bad because good defender can kill NPC really quick when the offensive team puts a lot of pressure.
Oh and I almost forgot… TEMPLATES. Yes, yes, yes, this is still a high priority for me and that should be shiped with HoT. We need it even more if we end up having the 3 game type in the same map pool for unranked.
I’ve tried to keep it concise, don’t know if I did well! Overall, the map needs some tweek to be satisfying playing it, but good job on it Anet!

My friends with no HoM points or small amount (less then 20) have gotten it. I have 46 points and I gained nothing. This is kinda upsetting that they get GWAMM easy like that : /
Just want to clear one thing up since this is out of the bag already. There are no “Mordrem Court” in Heart of Thorns. References to that nomenclature are a bug. These enemies are all called “Mordrem Guard”. Now, continue your speculating. :-P
I don’t know if there is some confusion in the studio but I’m pretty sure Colin called them “Mordrem court” in the interviews he gave for the press test of HoT.
Why is it hard to start your craft then go afk?
Why limit it to medium? If you implement a system like that, heavy should also have a chance to salvage into cloth, as it is required in the craft of it. It would also reduce by a small amount the input of metal in the market, thus giving more value to it (mithril is low atm)

Yes, but they won’t work on trait as long as the daily is not perfect, because daily still need 2 or 3 revamp since it’s such an essential part of the game. After all it’s number 1 on the priority list.

But seriously, this is not only a problem for PvP. WvW and open world content use the same build. There is a lot of things which utilize a different build : roam, zerg, skill blob, dungeon, fractal, world boss, SW (and other open world content).
Even in the same dungeon / event you may want to change build, depending the situation. This needs to be higher priority then say, dye pannel…
acknowledged there was a demand for it in GW2.
The more people that demand with good reason the higher up it gets on the todo list.

We NEED template, more then ever especially since there will be specialization. I don’t care if it doesn’t change weapon and armor. I just want that it changes my utilities and traits.
Thing is, this could be already possible on our own with a mouse recorder, but it would be against the TOS. So if you don’t want to put the time to add template in HoT, how about to “accept” mouse recorder to change builds only?

Guardian have Line of Warding, Ring of Warding which will see a big buff, so I don’t think it’s the end of the G in GWEN.

It will stay the same as it does right now ; Will increase the during of the boon.
A 10sec 5 stack Stability with 10% increase Boon duration buff will give 11sec 5 stack Stability.

Good question! Each time you cross the threshold, an instance of Stability would be removed.
That’s really nice! Now there is even more of a reason to kite some one while being on a cap point as a guardian.

Yes you do. I generally get ~10 in a run.
Although it would be a late addition and risks alienating the in game spore events, I’d prob buy one
I guess more then often people farm the open world node then events nowadays.
Aetherpath isn’t that hard. It just takes lots of coordination.
Oh and since it is not done much, zerk-ing through it can be difficult.
It’s a lot like arah path 4. My best runs through it were when the new people were not in zerk and only the people who have done it tons of times were in zerk. New people in full zerk on these paths tend to just be dead weight.
Yop, I prefer to come as a 0/0/6/6/2 guardian with soldier than zerker meta, as people don’t know the path very much, the mobs hit harder / are harder to predict.

It doesn’t make the game P2W and only add revenue to the devs. I see it more like a win-win-win for every one : People who want to pay RL cash for IG gold are pleased, devs and compagny get paid, people who don’t want to spend RL money have a way to get gems for store items by only playing the game (aka earning gold and trading it for gems).

first of all, i see people dont really get the OP, hes actually on you anti p2w guys side. He made his suggestion as a means of shutting up the p2w debate once and for all. Or at least thats the side he presented.
The system definately has advantages, i know a couple friends who would not play for a signifigant amount of time if they had to pay a subscription.
However, i think its foolish to ignore the issue. Its something you have to monitor and adjust, its not going to be 100% ok or 100% bad. This system is like consuming alchohol, you have to monitor it, and control it, or else it can end up being a bad experience.
Its not a question of whether pay for in game things is 100% bad or 100% good, its about how to manage pay for in game so that it creates the best balance of gains versus losses.
But really, why would we care about P2W complainer? They are wrong and shame on them if they don’t see it, even after all the talk there has been on the subject.
This path is quite good if we don’t count abyssmal rewards and unskipable cutscenes.
So how about get a group and learn how to play better?
Like i said… Finding a group who want to actually do it is like finding a chicken tooth. To then ask that group to do the path repeatedly… You must be off your rocker!
I’ve learned how this path work while puging and watching videos. I have made all achievements for TA with pugs. After I’ve been done, I’ve made several LFG groups with pugs and explained everything in detail (basicly carried the group) and did most achievements we could for them. (This was several months after the living story patch which introduced the path, so not many people were doing it anymore)
It’s really a L2P issue and you having the time and dedication to do it.
But I certainly favor a change of the reward in this path to promote more people in doing it.
Sylvari = Because you can have sex whitout risking having babies \o/ (and STD perhaps!)
Guardian = Most survivability
Fliping (TP Barons) = Because I’m not good at it, not because I think it’s a bad thing.

Trahearne = For kitten and giggles.
Caledon Forest = Obvious reason.

To redeem myself, here’s something constructive on the subject : Gems to gold conversion is good to the game because it reduce the cost of gold to gems. Other effect, it’s a gold sink (with the 15% fee). So it’s healthy for the game and must stay.

But I’m still curious as to why they made silk so valuable while leather is worth less then poop. Second interrogation, why did they make silk more valuable then it’s higher tier material, gossamer (I had to search for the name because I never use it and generally say yuk when I recycle cloth into this instead of silk xD).

You also have to choose your weapons that you prefer. Greaswords + Sword/Focus is the best choice and they work together. Hammer on the other end work well alone so your secondary weapon can be almost anything, like a Scepter for some range when you are in difficulty or something like that. Other than that, all weapons are viable, but not as good as those that I mentioned. Staff is the only weapon that you should play as little as possible in PvE, it’s more of a pvp weapon. If you bring it in PvE, take a hammer and only use the staff at the start of a fight, never switch to it in mid fight.
Well staff is a really good weapon for open world content, because it gives a lot of movement via swiftness symbol and it’s just THE BEST weapon to tag a large amount of mob in no time. Staff is really usefull when leveling IMO. Other then that, yes.
Yes, that would be a cool thing that you could choose a pool of finisher for the new “Random finisher” option.
“Hard” PvE content = Arah, HotW, CoE (arguable), TA Aether path and Fractal 40/50

I have to agree here, there is nothing hard about honor of the waves.
Well of course, it’s not hard for us old players that have made it more time then we can’t count. But generally, HotW is hard for pugs and they doesn’t have an easy life in that dungeon.

It sounds like they’re adding adding “Boon Resistance” to Skills that make you “Invulnerable”, “Can’t be effected by conditions” etc.
SY absorbs party member’s Conditions, it doesn’t make you invulnerable in any way. It would be silly to give it a big buff like Resistance. Then again, Anet could just say,
“Hey, let’s buff this!”I wouldn’t be surprised if they buffed alot of our skills so we don’t fall behind compared to everyone else.
Our Elite Focus is getting a 2s Resistance Boon. It would be cool if our Shelter did too, but I doubt it.
Shelter with Resistance would be so good. No need to pop condi cleanse before the heal tick!
