Absolutely. I rolled mostly charr and Asura’s to avoid the weird skimpy stuff your art dept is fixated on. In an ideal world, each race/gender would have something close to their own set for something on this level. Giving them the male version isn’t perfect, but at least its less silly.

You do recall this was something yall sold HoT on, yes?

Bit more than disappointing. The game in general seems like it saw a real shift in direction. Stuff like this doesn’t help with the perception that if you aren’t interested in two specific things, there is very little to keep you in the game. After three years of heavy time investment, its a little jarring for people to have their game flip the script on them.

This isn’t going to make it easier to buy future expansions, even for those of us in it till the end.

There is a time and place (and team) for everything. Trying to push things unrelated to the subject presented, and then pouting cause your feathers got ruffled by a genuine and measured response is pretty silly.

Does one really need to be coddled and told they ara good boy and that every concern, no matter how unrelated will be jumped on asap? That is a pretty big double standard to expect that, while at the same time lacking the courtesy to answer the question originally presented.

I made the terrible mistake of trying to map Dragonstand on my ranger tonight. The first cycle was a success. As we’re all scurrying to grab hero points during the 15 minutes, the map crashes. We’re all booted to character select. We come back and everyone had a nice roll back costing all loot, mapping progresss, etc.

Oh well. Things happen. I did the next cycle. Completed the meta. Did hero point rush. Collected my map complete reward and waypointed out. Only to suddenly lose said rewards, and see dragonstand now listed at 97%.

Quite perturbed.

All the buggy bits aside – Sticking players in the penalty box for the duration of the fight is a really, really counterproductive idea in a MMO. How is this a good idea? Especially with a confusing, buggy set-piece attack like with the gliding bit.

Individual nerfs aren’t the end of the world. But this class sure is starting to feel a lot different than the one we got to play in the betas.

Probably going valk armor, zerk weapons & trinkets, and rage runes to start with. I’m holding onto a set of strength runes, but want to play around with rage first with the whole dependence on fury.

Given a lot of HoT seems to be open world, soldier + hylek oil is tempting. Just really expensive to keep up.

Tried for about a half hour. Got 14k once with 10 might, fury, vuln, burst of strength, marauder, scholar, dmg traits, on the heavy golem. Getting all the hits to land was pretty rare. A few 13 and 12s, but most of the time it’d plow through the golem for 3-4k. * Fury was the big difference maker. was getting around 7.5 without it.

In comparison hundred blades was 12k+, Rapid fire 10k with similar runes/amulet. No one is standing in those either, but that doesn’t seem to be the point. If you can land it against the wall, it’ll hurt if they don’t break out. But then so does whirlwind.

Moreso, staff hasn’t felt like a great choice if I’m going dmg even with all that. I can get more out of Sword/Axe & hammer.

It’s so easy to ignore UA. I can’t tell you how many times my UA has just been shaken off like it was nothing by literally every profession.

I’d appreciate if everyone stopped telling me UA doesn’t need a nerf, I said I don’t mind it being the same. However UA is definitely strong, I don’t know what you mean by easy to ignore as it can deal 14k+ damage without the need to be full berserker.
My problem is SotM.

Then stop making up numbers. I’ve used it all weekend. Often with 10+ might against glass thieves and never seen it come close to that. I don’t think I’ve seen it hit for more than 8k all weekend and thats with marauders. The majority of the time the target will either dodge or stealth, or eat 5k standing still.

People keep making up these ridiculous exaggerations. If half of them were true Revs would be running around with 100% win rates.

Rough night of pvp & WvW. Not an expert, and half awake, but things I saw (or think I saw).

Soothing Bastion – Pretty much died every time it went off. Far as I can tell it’ll interrupt anything you’re doing, heals included? Being stuck was a death sentence. Is there any situation where its going to be beneficial?

Unrelenting Assault – Was some under the hood stuff changed? Feels glitchy now. It and Frigid Burst were giving me issues. Sometimes they wouldn’t teleport. Sometimes there was line of sight errors on point blank targets. Sometimes they would go off, register hits, but you’d be left stuck in place while eight guys beat you with sticks. Stealth ends it short too. Don’t recall if it was that way before.

Not so much an issue of ‘power’ but more Mallyx lost a lot of the ‘Mallyxness’ it had going. With HoT nearing release, is it a time issue? If Torment spamming was just a stand in, it would be an easier thing to get over. Otherwise its disappointing to think this is what it will always be.

There were a whole lot of cool things going on in DoA and with Mallyx in GW1. 50% miss globals, dark fields, position swapping, Fingers of chaos, the Black Beast of Argh (Get crazy, rework the demon summon sigil to a trait) and so on. Stacking a single condition is just fairly dull, and something any of the other classes could do.

I don’t like complaining on here, but my hype took a hit reading these.

Sounds like a lot of the more unique aspects of the class just got gutted with the removal of displacement, condition copying, defiance bar, and addition recharges on top of the energy system. I can understand the reasoning given the bugs with displacement, but still that was fresh idea I wanted to use. A big part of the draw was having a different sort of front liner doing new things. Now it just seems a whole lot more generic if you aren’t into support (Which is great, sure.)

Main hand sword could use something. Not a whole lot to do while waiting for Unrelenting Assault to recharge. Whirl finisher isn’t going to set the charts on fire. Torment is pretty lackluster, Mallyx’s elite pulsating it isn’t going to do much unless the range is big enough for most team fights in foefire, even then torment is bleh in pve. The shield skills don’t seem terribly useful if you aren’t 100% supporting, even with the possibility of a defiance bar. Offensive builds couldn’t heal much of anything off it to begin with.

Maybe it won’t be as bad as it sounds.

Don’t want anything that changes the core element of GWs. Might as well play a different game for that.

My ‘raid’ would mix in WvW and PvP elements. Sort of fall back onto some of the content in the first game like the practice teams on the Battle Isles, and Fort Aspenwood.

Ideally – A group has to break through multiple layers of some sort of fortification, ala Aspenwood. Different points would require different tasks to better support not everything being a DPS check. Protect an NPC, run supply, sustain a health drain, and the like. Enemies could use metabuilds in different points to create different sorts of challenges too, going back to the Battle Isles bit.

It could be a gateway to getting more people into wvw and pvp proper. Ideally it would be fun enough for people to do it and not whine about the rewards, but that is probably a long shot given this forum. I don’t think I would limit it towards specific guilds, but instead go with servers. Throw in a leader board for time/score like Guild War’s challenge missions, and server pride might creep back down into the lower tiers.

Actually yeah, just bring back challenge missions. That would cover most of what I want out of a GW “Raid.”

in WvW

Posted by: Maxite.6102

Quite the opposite.

JQ is mostly N/A bots these days. FA is dead. This has nothing to do with the popularity, but the reward-effort investment. Before the faction boosts years back, JQ was completely dead while FA still had regular matches going.

I still hope to see a similar smaller objective based map(s) added to GW2 someday. Running around WvW Bls, fliping camps against roamers in the off hours is pretty dull in comparison to escorting FREAKING SIEGE TURTLES and fighting off Assassins.

Zerker is fine

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Maxite.6102

Fine is a little relative. It is optimal to point where it overshadows about everything else in 50% of the game. Its just how the game is. Active defenses are just too good, and completely null any downside to zerk.

Different stat sets shine in pvp at least. It would be neat to have that dynamic over in PvE, but short of a total rework, not seeing how they would go about it. More undodgeable attacks can only do so much.

People are making threads for nearly one year about the berserker gear being bad. The recent modifications to the crit damages made low level dungeons easier and higher level dungeons harder.

This really should be stressed, although I disagree about the harder thing. Down-scaled dungeons explode currently.

On subject on lfg- It really isn’t too hard to post a ’LF Path X, casual run." This is how we did dungeon master. We got to explore the paths, meet generally laid back people and so.

Overall on zerk? Honestly, I’d just remove it from the game and be done with it. Good players will adapt, the game will go on. New problems will be addressed. Content becoming harder would only be a good thing at this point.

Maxite.6102

Please, no nerfing dungeon rewards. It’s the only way for unlucky non-tp players to make at least a little money. The effort imo is in balance with the rewards.

That is the problem. Dungeons are the most rewarding. We can dump a few hours into them and come out with much, much more gold/reward than we can in wvw or real pvp, or anything else. Making other stuff as good just means gold is even further devalued.

People rant about the blade shard vendor. Of course they’re worth nothing, people were running around with thousands of them. If you only had a stack or two, then you were boned by the guys who grinded their faces off. This is the path gold is on.

But that is part of the bigger gold issue. Right now, dungeons have things that could be fixed to bring them back into line. In my opinion the AC troll popping up in HotW is perfect fix. It made a fast, but boring path more lively and more interesting. However, pugs seem to have dropped it like a brick. And why not? Faster, easier paths still exist.

please give us examples of bosses that don’t use their mechanics if a party is stacked. I always see people say this yet they never give examples.

But pretty much everything in AC comes to mind offhand.

Since I don’t really do Arah I’ll only respond to this one.

AC P1: I’d really like to see a party stack Howling King and not get wiped. You’ve basically put the entire party into his optimal attack position. That’s not counting the adds that you have to kite in to the AOEs. The only trick to this wipe is start him at the far end of the room and melee him from all directions then dodge when he fires. Then it’s a face roll

AC P2: The only difficulty in this path is getting a party who know how to handle the traps and guns. If a player can’t dodge his rolling attack, which is his only attack, that player fails.

AC P3: The stack position in this path is just an exploit in the way the ceiling collapse works. Even if that were patched, keeping Rumblus close in so that Grast stays with you so he pops his shield all the time makes this a face roll.

Next?

The Howling King dies to zerk groups in around 10’ish seconds in an honest fight. If you go into the bottom/right corner and FGS your face into the wall, its health bar literally drops like a brick. His adds and attacks aren’t even an issue anymore. His health is next to nothing compared to what five dps players drop. Same with the ghost eater. Stack in the pilliar, one player lures, boss dies, gold get.

As long as the pillar blocks rocks and keeps you from being knocked too far away, you don’t even need the NPC at Rumblus. He doesn’t seem to die as quick at least.

Dungeon Rewards might be a little too good.

Volkov is the most glaring one.

actually he has ranged and melee mechanics. at range he will burrow and one-shot you, in melee he applies massive bleeds. this isn’t negating mechanics, this is a boss adapting to your proximity.

Fyonna

if you stack in a corner she just jumps backwards in to the wall. still using her mechanic.

the destroyer

evolved or destroyer of worlds? they both fully use their mechanics.

Aldus

uses all of his mechanics when stacked.

tree bosse

use all of their mechanics when stacked.

Sorge

no idea, don’t do hotw p2/3.

So 5/6 of the bosses you mentioned aren’t even negated by stacking. try again please.

Well, try again at what? You can argue the mechanics are meant to be “Stack, no AoE!” but it still doesn’tchange the results does it?

Again, Volkov – He waddles his way down to you from his spawn point. Following the range/melee bit, he should burrow/bomb every time. Yet he only does if a player is outside the nook after his dialog ends. So he has an ability that wipes groups., but doesn’t use it cause everyone is in a tight little ball. Cause that would be mean or something.

Fyonna – her mechanics of her encounter are in the room. The one we pull her out of. Otherwise she is a sylvari with a basic melee attack that turns into a spider with a basic melee attack. But it hardly matters cause like everything else downscaled right now, she’s blown up.

Aldus’ mechanics I’d technically concede. But I somehow doubt a ‘fairly safe spot so long as you don’t target’ is on the level. Ditto with the trees. That’s the problem with most of this.

Fixing or ‘redesigning’ a couple of these fights to be less cheeseable would go along ways to helping with that ‘too easy not to do it’ bit.

So its logical to instead bring everything else up to the match the
disproportional element. Well. That mindset certainly worked out well for Guild Wars pvp back in the day.

The new player bit can be argued many different ways. Catacombs is the Queensdale of dungeons, and it pretty much suffers similar issues when you bring up new players. Perhaps even more so, considering no other dungeon compares in reward/time/difficulty ratio.

Crying nerf is also fairly meaningless. Was HotW1 nerfed by adding the AC troll? Was SE nerfed by making the blockades unavoidable? TA-Foward, with the silly wall-climb? Most dungeons have similar things these days. All of which decrease the challenge, speed up the run, and further that reward gap.

Right now, a number of dungeon bosses do not use their most devastating abilities if a group stacks. That is silly, and the very definition of exploiting a weak AI. Why exactly would you want this to continue, let alone be the most rewarding venue of play? “Stack in corner, collect gold” is a fairly crappy game.

Ignoring the poorly worded insults. ANet has the data. They can and will do what they will with the rates. What I’m telling them is that as a player, this too easy and too good to pass up. And that raises some pretty severe concerns about the lifespan of the game.
