Still bugged
You are right, just tested it and was able to get 19 (20?) seconds of stealth with shadow arts.
Without shadowarts however, I was not able to surpass the 15s, not because of the lack of Meld with Shadows.
This looks to me like its capped at 5 stacks (5×4sec with shadow arts, 5×3sec without shadow arts).
no need to add another Throw Gunk suicidal self-reveal ability that has almost no effect.
You dont HAVE to use it, especially when using a stealth-build. Just keep it in your 2nd slot and wait for steal recharge.
I actually find this a useful skill in some situations
Hmm, that makes me curious, is there a maximum number of Stealth stacks allowed?
As far as I know, stealth is capped at 14 (15?) seconds.
If you look closely, the “stealth” used in this vid is marked as “Hide in Shadows” instead of “Stealth”, they are not the same buff.
Maybe anet forgot to limit this buff to a certain amount?
You can enter it while its closed. Search and you will find
You mean that jumping routine? Last time it took about as long as completing event chain.
Practice I can do it nearly everytime first try now. Shouldnt take more than 2 minutes when already standing at the door.

I think the lack of interest has partly to do with this thread being stickied.
IIRC, the previous trio thread was still stickied when this thread popped up, and was then replaced with this one. I think that most people dont pay attention to the stickies (like me) and didnt even notice the new thread.
If I hadn’t seen the thread when it was still unstickied, I probably wouldve missed it as well.
Not saying this thread shouldnt be a sticky, but I can understand people not seeing the new thread.
Also a full list of soloable dungs.
Arah which paths, AC which paths, and so on. Pweas xD
AC story
CM Story/1/2/3
TA Story/Up/Forward
SE Story/1/3
CoF Story
HotW 1
CoE 2/3
Arah 1/2/3
These are ‘doable’, more are soloable but somewhat impossible to do on a thief.
Arah p1 Tar needs 4 man, and CoE will need 1 or 2 more people for the laser part.
Oh, didnt even know that option was available :p When did they implement it?
I agree it should be allowed, but lately more and more things get unconsistently banned. I like these tactics btw
With all these discussions lately, I highly doubt skipping the door at 2nd alpha (path3) will be allowed.
Also, are you guys using macros for maximum shadowsteps/blinks and if yes, where can I get it? Been looking for this a while now
Nice runs!
Another cool idea that i read somewhere (don’t remember where) was to implement Bonus-Weekends like in GW1. This would mean, e.g. on weekend 1 it’s arah-bonus-weekend and the rewards from arah are doubled. Next weekend its HotW-weekend and so on.
Sadly though this will never happen…
Yes!
Shuffle through:
Double pvp reward
Double wvw reward
Double world boss reward
Double event reward
Double dungeon reward (probably not all at once, but 1-2 dungeon each time)
Double gathering stuff
Maybe i’m forgetting some things, but add them too!
They could even make it region-specific, like Ascalon-weekend, every event/worldboss/dungeon/gathering node in Ascalon gives double reward
Find a guild with friendly players.
If you want to be a loner and stay out of guilds, join one that requires no rep and do dungeons only with them.
Fill your friendlist with players that think alike, ask them to join you on your story dungeons.
Personally, I love to just play dungeons like this every now and then. Just joining lower-levels, waiting for them at cutscenes, no meta/zerk, teaching them how things work when we get stuck and just carry them. More players like this exist, just find them and make sure you add them to your friendlist.
Because it is now a Trick, and we have a trait to shorten to cooldown (to 14.5s), making it back to the original.
I guess having a base 15s cooldown would be too overpowered when using Trickster.
Are you planning on not coming back?
Because.. you know… I could use some money…
Withdraw: This ability is now a trick. Increased the recharge of this ability from 15 to 18. Healing (both base and healing power) coefficients have been increased by 10%.
Coefficients is key here.
This basically means that healing power is 10% more effective with withdraw.
Not sure what “base coefficient” actually is, but I think this is for scaling, thus making it heal 10% more on downscaled characters, taking 80 as base and the base coefficient to calculate downscaled healing.
So no, the “base healing” did not change, but people tend to read it wrong
Hope this clears it up a bit.
With quickness now being a boon and removable, I think they will shorten the cooldowns. 60sec cooldown for a 4sec removable boon is just not worth it.
In a dungeon-type environment:
Save it for trash, just not worth popping it.
Keep the passive for bosses that are 33%> and pop it if you are sure the boss will die after 5 heartseekers (or shortly after) AND you are sure it is recharged before the next bossfight.
If not, dont pop it to keep the passive bonus.
This way, you wil benefit from the passive AND active where possible.
There might be some situations where the 15% damage modifier will not out-do the +180 power, but I’m not sure about this, and definately am not going to do the math.
OP is talking about a pug.
S/P will do fine, you will probably have more DPS (with meta build ofcourse) than most pugs you will encounter. Yes D/D might have slightly higher DPS, but that doesnt make S/P any less viable.
If it works for you, go for it. If the pugs force you to run D/D while you want to keep S/P, leave them and let them waste more minutes finding a new pug than your damage loss wouldve cost them. This game is all about fun.
Just bad luck I guess, havent rolled her in at least 10 runs
2-manning stuff with a thief is easy!
Like SuinegTsol said, having a guard is nice for survivability and reflects (usefull in CM), while Elementalist has very nice DPS/AoE/Support.
If you plan to run AC (p1/3, 2 might be a bit hard) I would definately pair up with an ele, because it makes burrows so much easier and you barely need any protection in these paths.
CM might be the easiest dungeon to duo. If you are new you might want to take a Guardian with you, mostly for its protection and reflects.
If you get a bit more experienced and are able to easily survive, you can swap the guardian for an elementalist for faster runs.
A lot of stealth can and will be used in this dungeon, so have fun being usefull
For TA I would go with an ele at first, unless you find yourself dying a lot. Ele AoE is very usefull here since most bosses have large hitboxes, and ele aoe will melt the last boss. Reflects are barely needed in Up since most attacks (Malrona / Wurms) can’t be reflected anyway, and Smoke Screen will be enough to handle most projectiles in Fwd.
I’m not very experienced with solo/duoing SE, so I can’t really give good advice here. The paths aren’t that kittence you know them well, but bosses like Tazza in p1 and the 3 golems before (you can pull these 1 by 1 if you are very carefull) might be a little hard, so get to know these and practice. P3 is faily easy, I would probably go with ele for this run, since the Clowncar and last boss have large hitboxes. While you can’t blind Dredges, you can still block/reflect/destroy projectiles, so make use of you SmokeScreen (and Swirling Winds on ele or Wall of Reflect if you go with Guard).
CoF I would not recommend. P1 and P3 have gates where you will need more than 2 players. P2 is doable, but might be a bit kitten some parts. The part where you collect bombs will be very tight since it is timed, so plan your way well and make good use of shadowsteps. The bomb-room (time-gated) might be too hard with in-experienced players and even experienced players. So be prepared to fail this a lot.
If you choose to do this path, I would go with ele for its AoE.
HotW I do not recommend either. The bosses have very high HP and the paths are long and boring.
If you still want to do this dungeon, stick with p1. This one is the easiest. I would probably go with ele here for more damage, but if you have trouble staying alive go with Guard.
CoE is very fun and one of my favourites. It isn’t that hard, but take a bit of coordination. If you can get past the laser part, this path is very doable. You do both need teleports here, and timing is critical. I think there are some videos of it on youtube, but it isn’t too hard to figure out yourself. Coordinate well on alpha fights, clear crystals asap and watch out with his AoE attacks. Staying melee and knowing when to dodge makes these fights very easy.
P3 requires a third man at the destroyer.
I would say Arah is pretty easy if you know where to go. Bossfights are pretty basic and easy, but the skips require some knowledge of the dungeon. I don’t think you will need much survivability here, since you can prevent almost everything with a simple dodge, so go with Ele. You might have some trouble with the bugged (?) Lupi attack, but Lupi will be the hardest part of it all.
Skip p4, it is hard to duo, and takes very much effort and time.
This dungeon is pretty sellable as well, so you both could make some decent money here
As for builds, I would just go full berserker on both. Guardian might go a little bit defensive, but once you are more experienced full berserker is the way to go.
For more in-depth info about dungeons you can take a loot at gw2dungeons.net
This site also contains record-runs (5man, 4-man, trio, duo, solo) where you can learn a lot from, I would definately suggest watching videos of duo/solo runs.
Good luck and have fun

Improvisation
But i think most people agreed it doesnt really matter.
As long as the tooltip reflects the real cooldown, im fine either way
Seems like some developer forgot to do his work
Not the first time this happened and I’m definately not surprised.
They change skills and forget to change the tooltip with it, so this is probably the changed tooltip with the missing implementation. If this is done by 2 different developers they should put them next to eachother!
On a serious note.
I’m not sure wether or not the number of tests are enough to confirm this, but it does indeed looks like its bugged.
Should probably be tested with perma 100% crit.
Thanks for testing, hope this gets sorted out soon™
This really feels like the GW1 “Norn Fighting Tournament”, where you had to fight 5 random opponents, after which you face Magni the Bison.
Since this was solo you really had to think of a build that could counter most of the bosses in order to complete these rounds.
I like the idea of this arena, with a series of bosses and a decent reward. To make it more balanced I think there should be an entrance fee (like the 100g in the gw1 tournament) and you get kicked out if your party wipes.
For the rewards I would love a chance to get a boss-specific gear skin. It doesn’t have to be a high chance, but it wont have to be every run either. Keep this similar to the Fractals end-reward.
They could basically fit every boss/champion in-game into this arena, leaving out the world bosses.

Why one might run this setup in my opinion:
- People think youre condi p/d and waste condi cleanse while its actually the power killing them, giving you an advantage
- You like to play ranged power + stealth capabilities
- You like this set in general
- You are in a situation where you have to fight heavy condi counters
- You want to run something different than meta
- This list can go on
I can imagine this build being fun and usefull to play in some situations, where I think condi is better in other situations.
After all this is just a “PHIW”-discussion and there is no right or wrong here. It doesn’t matter if this setup is designed for one or another, its how you play it that makes it one or another. Even if x setup be better y setup, there is still no reason not to run anything other.
If running one thing makes you enjoy the game more than running anything else, doesnt that make it the most “effective” thing for you?
To be honest, I think meta makes you predictable.
My 2 cents
I once made a topic on how to use this gun on other enemies in this path.
The topic got deleted and I got a forum ban for 3 days. Consider it an exploit.
Yes I do have some footage, but I still need to split them and make gifs. Not sure when I have time to finish this, but I will post them anyway so if you are ready to draw the winners, go ahead. I dont mind missing some stakes
Which dungeon(s) are still lacking?
Got some time today to do more work
afaik you have AC/CM/CoE/TA(up/fwd) covered, and a bit of Cof/Arah.
Take 6/6/2/0/0 with d/d.
Critical strikes XIII and SA with regen on stealth.
Signet of malice heal
This together with berserker armor will make this an easy fight, if you can dodge his autoattack (easy tells)
If you are more comfortable with s/p, use 5/6/0/x/x and spam away.
Easy soloable with this setup. Good luck!

The bug I mention that is scheduled for a future fix is a similar but different issue in this fractal. They look nearly identical though.
I’m sorry, but what bug did you mention? Did you watch the youtube link? I honestly can’t think of any other bug by watching this video, since it is all focussed on the ‘stuck’ champ being invuln.
How can this slip the test-fase? Sick and tired of these “fixes”.
This current problem is being looked at, actually has since this thread popped up.
I hope its not being looked at the same way its being ‘fixed’, because then we will need another patch ‘soon’.
AC is quite well covered now.CoF1, CMS, CM3 and CoE exp are quite well covered too.
You probably knew this already, but I’m saying this just in case;
The foes from CMS/CM3 can probably be used for CM1/2 a well.
The inquests from CoE are (as far as I could tell) the same as in SE p1.
Icebrood wolves from CoE are the same in HotW p1.
Not sure if this is automatically handled by your system, but just thought I should let you know.
If I can find some time this weekend I’ll see if I can do some more
Sweet some competition. best of luck. win win for everyone
I actualy enjoyed doing this
Soloing stuff to get the right mobs, then analyzing each mob, great!

Burrow Event 2
Gate Kasha’s Chapel to The Lovers’ Crypt
Nente’s Plinth
The Lovers’ Crypt
This should be enough to cover the whole storymode. Every enemy included, except the gravelings.
I can imagine it being a pain to have to click all these links and THEN being able to copy the real links, if you’d rather have these the way DonQuack posts them, just let me know and I will edit both of my posts so the links can be directly copied. I just thought this looks cleaner. Can also .zip everything and link it to you, it has a clean directory structure and naming (same for the CoE stuff).
I’d be nice if they made all paths possible to solo (COE laser room prevents solos, for example). The chances of them actually doing this: 0.
Would actually like to see these kind of events to be “scaled”.
Youre with 4 man? 4 consoles at CoE lasers. 2 man? 2 consoles.
Same goes for CoF gate, 1 person only gate controller. 2 man gate controller + totem.
Crucible of Eternity
Icebrood
Inquest
- Impale
- Ring of Earth
- Magnetic Aura (has no cast or animation, only a glow. Glows, is immune to conditions and damage, reflects projectiles)
Undead
Still missing a lot, but this is what I could do today.
I do have a gif of how to enter CoE while its contested, but I’m not risking posting it here, do you still want it?
I think all links are correct, but if something does not add up let me know!
Some additional info:
Alpha is always surrounded by 3 Inquests on the first encounter.
- 1 Inquest Assassin
- 1 Inquest Grenadier
- 1 Inquest Assistant
Whenever you kill one of these inquests, they spawn a Risen Thrall with Inquest skin (see above).
Made a map with spawns and foes.
Might not be completely correct, but I think this is pretty much everything.
Feel free to edit/change/use for whatever, it could use some improvement.
(edited by Meryn.6875)
Hes trying to hype them so he can sell his 4 stacks with a large profit! \o/
Serious tho, the wiki now says 5 sec internal cooldown, while it didnt before. (Maybe it got patched?)
I use this on thief solo’s, together with Strength Runes and a Strengh Sigil, and can easily keep 20+ might.
If however it indeed got an internal cooldown now, I doubt it is worth it. That would really be a waste of my 20 stacks..
I’m also going to add the weird pathfinding bugs to the list that are causing mobs to teleport to GL’s arena.
I might be wrong here, but I dont think this is a bug.
In the video you provided (Purple Miku soloing), he pulled in on purpose I think.
Quote from the description: “So, you know how today’s patch bugged Lupicus’s autoattack? Yeah, that wasn’t enough for me to call it as a challenge with a warrior, so I took it one step further…”
He is the same from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cF3o7mKbXk, where they duo GL + 2 champs (including the one from his recent video).
I think the Risen Knight follows you through the whole dungeon if you choose not to kill him, so following you into GL’s arena is only logical.
This would require a re-work of all on-weaponswap sigils
Dont they have internal cooldowns already? That should be enough, Ele can swap attunements very fast as well without having unbalanced on-swap sigils, or dont they trigger on attunements?
No Fractal Leaderboard, which was the supposed reason to reset everyone to 30.
I still don’t understand what happened there. Why announce something and not even go through with it… They even said they had all the data, why not post it? And there wasn’t a huge uproar on the forums over it or anything either. I’m still peeved about that.
Because the fractal leaderboard was a massively bad idea. Who cares who finishes a particular fractal first? Plus, that’s kind of useless. Once it’s done, the leaderboard’s finished. There’s no way you can do better than being first, so it’s pointless. Who finishes fastest? Does it include the group who gets swamp, ice elemental, thaumanova, and molten, or the group that gets harpy jumper, Cliffside, dredge, and mai trin?
While I agree that a static, non-changing leaderboard may have been a subotimal idea, it’s better than no leaderboard at all, especially when the entirety of the gw2 population had their fotm level reset because of it.
They might have used it as an excuse as well. Instabilities start at 30, we got reset to 30. Why would the leaderboard need a specific reset to lvl 30? Why not reset everything back to 1?
I think they wanted us to play with all the instabilities, and the leaderboard was a good excuse to reset us ^^
All they have to do is remove the shadow step mechanics from it and have the character movement aspect of it act like Mesmer’s portal.
While it should work better, this would make gankers rediculous because of the numbers associated with the trap. Adjust the numbers like CD and it would only ever be used by gankers.
Pardon, but I’m not sure what you mean. All we want is for the shadowstep action not to fail when the path is obstructed by elevation, etc. like in certain pvp maps or wvw obstacles
In other words: Teleport instead of Shadowstep
This would probably be the best solution to avoid any failure
dumb question but was your party in combat?
Party was in dungeon and I was outside
Maybe this is the new system? Normally in a dungeon you can’t waypoint if any of your partymembers are in combat.
If you died, you could just exit the dungeon (through character select), waypoint back to life and re-enter the dungeon. All while your party is still fighting the boss or whatever they were doing. What you just explained looks like a ‘fix’ for this method.
Donated as well, gems in this amount are expensive!
I would spam their CS for refund. Not because I agree or not with the change but because it would mean they lied to us in patch notes.
They have been for ages.
No Fractal Leaderboard, which was the supposed reason to reset everyone to 30.
Thief shadowstep “fixed”
Lots of undocumented changes
^these are only the ones that popped into my mind, there are definately more cases
I cringe everytime I see theres a new update, not because of what has been nerfed/buffed, but what bugs/undocumented stuff have been introduced.
so why in patch notes it is called a bug?
To avoid rumours?
Also, admitting mistakes is hard :pDungeons were actually better with the new downscaling in my opinion, made it harder to lvl 80’s. If this turned out to be way overpowered/underpowered or unplayable in any kind I would say its a bug, but right now I think this scaling was intended, just not for this patch.
no, that would be lie if week or month later they’ll do the same and call it a feature. They stated it’s a bug and this is how we should call it now.
Sure, but I wont be surprised if this ‘bug’ makes a permanent comeback in a future patch
so why in patch notes it is called a bug?
To avoid rumours?
Also, admitting mistakes is hard :p
Dungeons were actually better with the new downscaling in my opinion, made it harder to lvl 80’s. If this turned out to be way overpowered/underpowered or unplayable in any kind I would say its a bug, but right now I think this scaling was intended, just not for this patch.
The funny thing is the downscaling “bug” unintentionally did a pretty good job at balancing low level dungeons, putting 80s on a more equal footing with non downscaled players.
Aaaaand its fixed now. So that’s that.
I don’t think it was a bug, but a leaked future patch. Anet sucks at version control, and therefore accidently implemented updates that arent supposed to roll out yet.
Dudes calm down.
Nobody will get rolled back or banned because of this. They are probably gonna fix what’s causing this to happen, and then check all the logs to see which characters are affected by this bug. They will just remove the titles/AP you earned this way.
Don’t assume. I wouldn’t take pve so seriously in terms of combat wise because you can run anything and not die as long as you have a functional brain.
What youre saying is; you can survive running any build, even with no build, so who cares about pve?
How is acrobatic the most used trait line? Which gameplay wise are you assuming? Pve? Isn’t obvious enough that I’m stating about pvp?
Again, youre only looking at pvp. If you want to make suggestions, please take both pve/pvp in mind. Otherwise you could break one or another.
In my opinion the traitlines are OK and balanced, its just the traits itself that could take some tweaking. You take DA/CS if you want pure glass damage, and sacrafice that damage if you want survivability with SA/Acro. Trickery is a bit of a utility in my opinion. If you think the survivability of these traitlines are not what they should be, don’t change the traitlines but the traits themselves.
Having Condi/cond.duration and power/crit paired in traitlines, would kinda be overpowered. Lets say you max out both, then youre the ultimate hybrid, damage-wise. Right now you have to choose, condi, damage, survival or a mix of them.
Stop stealing my tactics and performing them better! ;-;
Good job tho, this one is gonna be tough.I wish people would put more work and finetuning into their records and not publish one per day.
Its a race, isn’kitten ^^ As long as youre faster than the current, you win.
Haha don’t even try to say copy tactics as you copied first from the 10:24 :P
Can’’t deny that ;p
