Try it without Chronophantasma.

I don’t think it is because an attack is in the air. Staff1 is much slower and doesn’t cause a problem.

Exactly! They disabled this effect with staff because it bounces. If they hadn’t done it, you couldnt stealth for another 5 seconds after firing staff.

Please, Anet, add this effect to scepter, an all slow moving projectiles, maybe thief SB 2.

With a standard condi build you can solo dungeons in PvE if you want to. But if you are playing Mesmer for the first time and especially for leveling, make yourself a favor and take Greatsword. It does AE damage and has CC, it has everything you want right now. The Trait shenanigans come at a later point.

NO. Being unstealthed when attacking is a solution to a problem. Stealthing while a projectile is flying is not that problem. This makes absolutely no sense. This is the sole reason Scepter/Torch is bad. You can’t expect this work around from a new player. He will be frustrated by this. This needs to be fixed. All I’m sayin.

could anyone make a short description about the difference in gameplay ?
without the subjective ‘this I like, that I don’t like’

with chrono when using alarcity you are encouraged by the trait flow of time to constantly cycle your shatter skills as well as any wells you have due to the trait alls well that ends well

with out chrono or alarcity your are encouraged to keep your phantasms up as long as possible in pve

I have to contradict. What you are describing is exactly what I did in the first few hours of the beta but by far not the most effective way. Now “illusionary Reversion” gives you a clone whenever you shatter at least two illusions, turning your rotation into

shatter – generate another illusion – shattter – generate another illusion – shatter

This way you have always a three clone shatter (counting in the auto illusionary persona). Now how you generate that other illusion is completely up to you. The chapest way is, to trait “Seize the moment” (quickness per shatttered illusion) and equip Scepter that generates the clone with a quick third auto attack.

But in PvP for example you have a pletora of possibilities and situational skills to fill that role. With chronomancer I now have a real incentive to shatter more often in comparison to before the specialization which is a good thing.

EDIT: Also the #5 shield ability sometimes doesn’t return back, like for example near a gate in WvW structures which is kinda annoying if I’m trying to give quickness when attacking a gate

This is something I noticed as well. Sometimes especially at a downed enemy, I will just get a “invulnerable” displayed and the shieldwall disappears entirely mid-flight. When being used from a higher ground, it will travel throught the air until it hits my target, then follow the ground and return to me along the floor until it hits the wall below. Then it disappears as well without giving me the cooldown reduction.

As someone who regularily had Migrain with Aura, I have never heard of this. The Aura defines itself rather by not having a color. A piece of static in my view that does not deliver coherent information to the brain. The Aura is a symtom of the Migraine. You can’t just trigger the Aura and get Migraine. Epilepsy works that way.

- insta Distortion
- heal up
- Confusion Images
- Blink into his smokefield
- /shrug while thief panically pops shadow refuge
- Use portal (that is off cooldown i gotta say)
- run to my destiantion

if the thief backstabs me again

- decoy
- use portal number 2 (dont step through it)
- run on (the thief will shadow step back to “surprise” me)

Kind of a random combo if you have portal and blink equiped and nothing to do with your split.

- Conduurum split with no clones
- Use portal
- Quick blink to max range
- Second portal
- split back
- use portal

tadda you blinked and portal aswell as blink is off cooldown. You can now blink again to get furher ahead. Now exercise until you can do it intuitively.

I had to write this down somewhere here. During the first evening of the second Beta Weekend I was playing in PvE, PvP and WvW. Namely the following
- Mesmer with Chronomancer Spec
- Dueling/Illusions/Chronomancy
- Scepter/Shield and Sword/Torch
- Celestial Gear

I have to say that the handling of this Specialization goes way ahead of what I was used to. On a regular mesmer especialy using GS I am mostly concentrated on reflexes watching whats going on, being in the moment. Right now, I am anything but in the moment, constantly analyzing my cooldowns that are affected by alacrity and simoultaneously predicting the next few moves of my enemy, being the mastermind one level above whats happening and constantly hoping nothing too unexpected is going on.

It’s like playing an Esper Control Deck in Magic the Gathering as contrast to a Gruul aggro Deck if that tells you anything. I look at my skill bar and have answers to my opponents next 5 moves. Indeed, I stopped listening to dubstep during PvP and replaced it with House of Cards soundtrack.

The two blocks of the shield in combination with the block on scepter used in short succession gives me another time window comparable to another stealth ability exept that they produce Phantasms and dish out Torment.

The Shield skill 5 tides of time is borderline OP – especially in pvp. It creates a perfect window to shatter and at least gives me more time that I dont have to spend dodging

The improved blocks and the stuns in combination with the reduced cooldowns that come with alacrity take a lot of pressure away from me. And when I actually get in danger, surely blink or decoy or blurred frenzy or prestige or distraction or distortion or take root or portal is off cooldown to save me. And if not, I pop continuum split and walk a few steps aside to let them pump their bursts into the wrong timeline.

A Tipp for anyone trying Chronomancer this weekend: Try “Seize the Moment” as your grandmaster trait. (Quickness per shattered illusion) It’s extremely satisfying to burst someone down with shatters and then quickstomp them. Or get them into downstate, pop distrortion and then quickstomp them. Or if you have too many skills off cooldown because of alacrity and there is just not enought time to use them all.

Good Job, Devs.

Have a great Beta weekend.

They still have to get to level 80. If raids are a pure check of skill, NOT gear, it makes perfect sense. PvP is the same thing. You go into PvP and can start owning people at level 1.

Most people would frown when facing a downed state rune or a fall damage rune. When you are downed most times you will be finished within seconds. When you take falling damage, most times you wont even be in fight most times. What exactly makes them op for you? I assume you dont mean the stat bonusses because they already exist just like that in the game.

If they cast veil int the first 10 seconds of the fight they probably have their utility bar filled with stuff to abuse Prismatic understanding and you wont see them alot during your duel. In that case, you can still float off safely.

But beware, not every condi mesmer has Prismatic understanding. I for example run bountiful desillusionment, Celestial and Scepter/Sword and just try to abuse my 2 block skills in combination with traited cooldown reduction. It also feels fairer honestly.

Miroe.2054

Really, Anet can throw out any amount of new runes. Most of them aren’t used anyway. There are people out there that couldnt live without their Runes of the Grove that root enemies or Golemancer Runes that summon a Golem. Weird or mostly unused Runes dont harm anyones experience.

Now the same applies to the new Runes that will be added in HoT so let’s make some Runes. What would you like to see as a best case and where would you just roll your eyes as a worst case scenario?

Best Case:

Rune of the Nuoch
(1) +25 Toughness
(2) 3% Toughness is converted into Power
(3) +50 Toughness
(4) 5% Toughness is converted into Power
(5) +100 Toughness
(6) Give Protection to narby allies when downed. You lose no health and deal 25% more damage while downed.

Rune of the Itzl
(1) +25 Precision
(2) 3% Precision is converted into Condition damage
(3) +50 Precision
(4) 5% Precision is converted into Condition damage
(5) +100 Precision
(6) Take 50% Less falling damage (doesn’t stack with traits)

Rune of the Dinosaur
(Stats dont matter, its just about the name)

Sigil of the Weaponmaster
10% cooldown reduction on skills of the upgraded weapon.

Sigil of Greed
60% chance to steal a boon from your foe on a critical hit (Cooldown: 9 Seconds)

Worst case:

Rune of the Maguuma Mushroom
(1) +25 Vitality
(2) +10% Regeneration Duration
(3) +50 Vitality
(4) +15% Regeneration Duration
(5) +100 Vitality
(6) Whenever you interact with a Mushroom you heal yourself by 200 and gain Regeneration (6s) (cooldown 50s)

Sigil of Chak Slaying
+10% damage versus Chak

Sigil of Bulk
Gain a charge of +10 vitality each time you kill a foe, five if you kill an enemy player. (Max 25 stacks; ends on down.) (Only one attribute-stacking sigil can be active at a time.)

Traits and Mobility

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Miroe.2054

Miroe.2054

If catering to wishes was a bad thing, we may as well not wish at all, not give feedback. I had to drop my beloved GS because the torch trait was moved to illusions. I wouldn’t ask for that to be reverted. But this isn’t just about me wishing for a buff for my build its also about symmetry.

25% Running speed Runes were awesome because it allowed people that didn’t have a running speed trait to instead getting it through runes. and it allowed other classes to not having to trait into certain lines and instead just equip the runes. This was a very cool thing. Now as making a build gets more restrictive, these alternatives become more essential.

Traits, all classes may want but are restricted to certain trait lines:

- Movement Speed
- Fall damage
- Protection during Reviving
- Buffed down state
- (Weapon skill cooldowns)

These abilities might not be reason enough to trait into a line but might be very useful to certain play styles. Wanna make a zerker that launches suprise attacks from above? Sure. Wanna be a warrior that also moves faster while wielding a Longbow? There you go. For some people these utility effects are far more useful that having Might on crit or 20% condition reduction. We have runes that summon crows and hounds and roots. Right now I have absolutely no meaningful choice for my rune slot post HoT.

And honestly, this isn’t a case for balancing issues. It doesn’t take away from any players experience, it doesn’t mess around with traits. It wouldn’t just be fancy, it would be a continuation of whats already in the game and improve the costumization.

Traits and Mobility

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Miroe.2054

Miroe.2054

I wonder wether I’m the only one with this issue. With the upcoming Elite specializations, build costumization becomes a little more restricted ironically. Not taking an Elite specialization takes away from ones power level and overall build viability. Thus we have to streamline our priorities concerning trait line choice.

Personally I do a lot of WvW roaming. Mobility has a rather high priority for me. For a long time I and many other Mesmers have run Runes of the traveller due to a lack of a movement speed trait. Now since the Chronomancer Grandmaster Minor Trait contains just that bonus, running Runes of the traveller become obsolete for all Mesmers. At the same time I had to drop the trait line with the fall damage trait.

My point is. Just as with Runes of the Traveller it would be really nice if there was an equivalent rune for Fall damage reduction. Especially as multy layered maps become more of a subject it would be nice to have an alternative to the specific trait lines. I know, there is Runes of the Snowfall but besides being a weird support rune which would be acceptable, the reduction is only half of what a trait does.

What do you think? Is the Fall damage Trait nonsensical anyways?

Weird interaction between Scepter and Torch

in Mesmer

Posted by: Miroe.2054

Miroe.2054

Lately I have started using Sc/T on my main because trait line changes and the new upcoming chronomancer has reduced my possibilities down to two trait lines to get the torch trait and my beloved fall damage reduction. Which again reduces my choices down to Staff and Scepter/Torch.

Now has anyone else who uses Sc/T had the situation that u used T4 Prestige and got instantly unstealthed because in the meantime the Scepter Projectile finished its stroll and reached its target. Because I feel like it happened to me like a dozen times during build testing. Does anyone know how to get around this issue?

But this would mean the reason why the pale tree and the sylvari are so keen to destroy the dragons is because they absorb a dragons power once he dies. What do you think?

The fact that charr, humans, asura and norn can see the dragon means, that our “Sylvari already carry mordremoths influence in them” Theory is wrong.

This is how you create a game of thrones situation

1. Raise the stakes. Usually this is done by an overly dramatic, sadistic or honorful person
2. Two or more people make a plan to ensure a positive outcome
3. Somebody messes the plan up in a character defining moment
4. As a consequence somebody dies or you return to point 1 (flip a coin)
5. the events take us to a new place or result in new information
6. All is not as it seems. A new conflict is created. New characters may enter the stage
7. Return to point 1

This is how you create a GW2 situation

1. Someting spectacular happens in a new place (trailer material)
2. NPCs go watch, Players go watch, problem is created, new characters enter the stage
3. One Person makes a plan. Player will follow to the plan
4. A villain tries to get in the way. Players instantly deals with the problem
5. Mission is accomplished, the story is over here, no conclusion or further information
6. Players wait for point 1 to repeat.

The S1 Finale doesnt entirely follow the list – so this might greatly change in S2
