I slotted my Elite to Signet of Rage later on. I copy/pasted that banner build. The lack of stunbreaks is one of the points I was trying to make, along with the inability to reliably cleanse conditions. Lyssa runes only work once every 48 seconds if using Signet of Rage and traited for the Signet cooldown reduction. It’s not very often a team fight or any fight over 1v1 will last that long. I understand the concept of disengaging perfectly fine, I don’t sit around and try to take hits when in a tournament match. Come to think of it, in the context you mentioned Lyssa runes it almost sounds as if you expect me to Signet out of a stun. Signet of Rage isn’t a stunbreaker.

So let me get this straight.. Warriors ALWAYS have access to Bow burst with 3 bars of Adrenaline? Without 3 bars Bow Burst is unlikely to hit what you’d want it to hit due to the radius of the skill being so small. Not saying it’s impossible, but with a moving target it’ll be difficult and honestly without 3 bars you wouldn’t be getting that super duper ultra mega cleanse from Cleansing Ire now would you?

Zanryu, Regen doesn’t stack in effectiveness, only length of time it is applied. So 1 banner has the exact same effect as 4. I don’t know where you got your build from, but it’s not the banner build most people are playing and as you seem unaware of what the current FOTM is I would suggest not trying to defend a spec that you don’t play yourself.

As someone who does play a banner regen warrior let me explain how it works and why it actually is OP. The general spec is playing 1 banner (usually tactics) with zerker and balanced stance. People will always need 30pts in tactics to get the regen trait. Furthermore at least 20pts in defense to get cleansing ire. Beyond that the rest of the points get mixed around depending on if you’re playing CC or condi. Everyone always uses longbow as it does NOT need to register a hit to activate cleansing ire. The other weapon/s is personal preference depending on the type of role you want to play.

Regen wise for what I play I receive 436+260 HP every second. Plus a further 507 HP every 3 seconds from Adrenal Health. It is basically a permanent TU however I have higher base armor, toughness and HP.
I have access to a total of 33 seconds of stability, with balanced stance on a 40sec cooldown. Permanent swiftness, might stacking up to around 12 stacks with ease. And 10secs immunity to conditions every 60 seconds. I can remove 3 conditions every 10 or so seconds and have a full condition clear on the elite.

I generally play condi spec, between burning and bleeding I can easily manage 1500 condi damage per second + whatever extra direct damage I am doing from 2500 attack.

I roll over everything and it shouldn’t be the way in a pvp game and 1 class is immune to anything another class may bring, warrior is most definitely OP. Everyone should die 1v4 obviously, even warriors. But at the moment I can 1v2 easy, which indicates that Warrior is near twice as good as other classes which is saying a lot about current balance.

Considering that all pvp servers are shared for all players in that region, why must the HOTM remain server specific? If anything it fractures the community and makes it appear 1/24th of the actual population size in NA and 1/27th the size in the EU.

Not only would merging these make the community feel stronger but also offer a place to discuss pvp specifics outside of a match and form teams which each player present.

I would really like to see all NA HOTM’s merged and all EU HOTM’s merged, still region separate at this stage.

The only negatives would be the influx of people using the HOTM as a means to go through the lions arch gate. This could easily be solved by removing that gate and have those people waypoint straight there like most regular players as the gate itself serves very little function to the pvp community.
The other issue would be the testing area and the possibility of having too many players with a limited amount of npcs. Rather just make those areas instanced such as they were in gw1. If multiple players want to enter together they can party up. This would also allow more elaborate use of npcs that could focus on team play and have 5 person teams use this instanced area as a practice ground.

Definitely the ability to change something into gems so we have the same opportunity to purchase things from the gem store as those who convert gold.

The implementation of all those weapon skins that are absent from the pvp locker.

Many more achievements to boost your points so that people can obtain those rewards through pvp at the same pace as those who pve.

Exclusive visible accessories (even something as cliche as a Halo).

Class exclusive finishers for obtaining champion status etc. and further those titles, so after obtaining champion, add a few thousand wins to that and you might get “Ultimate …”. Also add those same titles without the Champion part for those who have played out of solo or teamq.

Zaishen keys! Or rather Black Lion keys now as a rare drop from winning tournies.

I’m sure there are many more great things that could be implemented too.

What’s up with the elitist attitude? It’s a game and playing in a mode with no real rewards. Who cares if a r-whatever joins these players have to start somewhere.
Yeah a rank 3 doesn’t belong in an actual tournament such as the MLG invitational, but as far as soloq and teamq go… Don’t want to play with randoms? Form a proper team.

I say this looking over what I’m currently running between 5 of my classes and only 1 of them is condi (War lb+s/s). I play engi 50% of games and I stopped running full condi builds around a month ago as they became less useful in the current meta. Which might sound strange, but:

Rangers, necros, warriors (which are the 3 most popular classes atm) make conditions for the most part ineffective.

I’ve found that power/CC is on the whole more effective and while I still make use of a lot of conditions such as cripple/immobilise/chill I’m no longer relying on them for damage as much as I was a month ago.

Condi builds still seem to tear up hotjoin if I jump in. However in tournies with competent players, most people have adjusted to the meta and found decent counters.

Anyone else found this to be true?

Yeah War does beat SR at the moment. But the SR is a bunker type spec and can usually hold out for a good minute or two. I’d also say that M/Sh-GS is correctly placed at failing to thief and mes only due to that fact that it is placing it’s damage potential all on 100b-whirl burst which is easily avoided in many cases by those classes. However, LB-S/S can beat both shatter mes and thief because of the heavy attrition.

I’ve seen 5 Thief Teams, 5 Mesmer Teams (go team Mesmer), 5 Necro Teams, 5 Guardian Teams… and they all stomped people… This is not a reflection of “the meta”.

Spirit Rangers are good. But the way you are whining about them is stupid and unjustifiable. I’m hard pressed to think that you are a good player.

Can I just say that Warriors are amazing right now in tpvp and they are currently the hardest counter to necro’s and engi’s.

This idea about syncing is still random. You can try to get into the same match as a friend but you’ve only got a 50/50 chance to be put on the same team. The whole thing for the most part is definitely an illusion, but if there are only 20 people queuing up every time, you’re bound to be put with similar people over and over again.

The last match I played with complete random’s the other team accused us of being “teamspeakers”. It was just unfathomable to them that they could lose so badly so they assume it’s due to ‘syncing’ and not because they just got destroyed.

Every single match I’ve played in has been 5v5 so far. Only seen one leaver when the score on a match was 450-22.

Skyhammer is awesome. Most people actually laugh and enjoy themselves while playing it and keeps you on your toes far more than any other map has done. On that note Capricorn is also great, underwater combat is a mechanic of the game. Why people hate it I really don’t know.

Matches are at most 15mins long and different maps mix things up. I hear MOBA’s have 1 map, go give them a shot but people please don’t qq to take variety away from the we the majority. The last thing I want to do is play the same map over and over.

Daze & Stun Icons

Not sure if anyone else feels the same, but I would like better differentiation between the daze and stun icons. Both are grey and contain round icons. In the thick of it it’s hard to tell which is which.

Usually you can tell due to whether or not you can still move around, but if you happen to be stationary or immobilised it can lead to situations of popping stunbreakers when they might not have been that necessary.

Ideally I would just like to see them in different colours.

Warriors are still garbage, sure, they can annoy you with a lot of stun, but they are still under par compared to any other profession.

Since the last two patches this is certainly not the case anymore.

We have obtained a lot of condi removal, improved healing skills and the new zerker stance is amazing in the current meta. Warrior is the only class currently that I can happily use to walk all over a necro in under 10secs.

The reason many teams are not using them is due to that prejudice that has been associated with Warriors for the last 9 or so months. Not because warrior still sucks.

Because the basic-damage of those weapons are higher + weapon-traits synergyize better with affecting 5 skillz instead of 3 or 2, which is mostly the case for one-handed weapons.

Downed state is there to replace the need for healers. Watch some top teams and see how fast the rez people. That’s the key to staying in game in high level play. In 4v3 at mid one team is already at quite a disadvantage when everyone is performing well.

I’m a big fan of LB condi warriors. Their condition application is limited in comparison to say necro/engi however their general damage output is far greater through regular attacks so they make up the damage offset that way (that’s with carrion). My LB warrior is something similar trait allocation wise (though different trait selection/weapons/utilities).

I’m quite sure I’m one of the very few people who think that warriors are no longer a rubbish class anymore and can hold their ground very well (mainly because 90% of the pvp forum are warriors advocating for buffs, so god help them they wouldn’t admit it). I even came up against a bunker warrior the other day in soloq, held back 3 players on point single handed for around 30sec’s which is a decent effort. So thankfully there are a few people out there who don’t bother with all the qq and get straight to the innovation stage.

If you hover over the hotjoin server it will state max team size, either 5 or 8. Use that in conjunction with the amount of players in the room to tell if you will get a slot or not.
Also hotjoin is like joining a server in any standard online game such as battlefield/counterstrike etc. that there is no balance, just luck as to what team you join. Hotjoin also has no effect on your ranking on the leaderboard if that is what your concerned about, so you can die as much as you want.

Most respawn timers are on a wave mechanic, so killing someone could have them able to respawn in a second or in 20. But I don’t think there is a problem with respawn at the moment, killing an enemy does have a profound effect already. Things like this could also be abused by denying a point and keeping a team locked out of respawn. If someone dies and you’ve got 2 bunkers sitting on a point, how is it fair to keep the match at 4v5 for a longer length of time…

Yeah that would be ideal as most hotm are generally underpopulated as opposed to say – the home servers lion’s arch. Considering that pvp covers all the servers for the region when you enter a match anyhow, I doubt anyone will have a problem with it. It would also greatly aid in searching for a tpvp team/premade.

So ANet agrees Skyhammer is not a tPvP map.

This is such a shame. It’s the same small group of forum qq’ers once again and now we’re binning progress. Just throwing around a word they don’t understand “It’s not ‘competitive’!” Well it is, you kill the other team, capture points and eventually someone wins. So now you can fall to your death? Guess what, all the other players are equally capable of falling too. But what you say? Some classes are better at pushing than others? Vitality isn’t valid as condition resistance because it’s an equal opportunity stat that protects as well against condition than against power damage.

Well that’s not exactly true as vitality is not there to directly relate to conditions. It’s taking into consideration other aspects of the class such as damage output, damage mitigation and mobility to the overall role on the class in the game. But these aspects also contribute to avoiding conditions. x/x/x/30/30 ele builds may roam around with light armor and 13k hp but their condition removal ability is extremely efficient.

Yeah I would agree with this, especially as tournies aren’t actual tournaments, just a single match.

Though in this format, you may as well just scrap hotjoin all together (but leave custom servers for niche game types/guild servers/competition servers) and just replace it with RA. Premades can just go straight to TA.

Therefore rewards would be upped all round for everyone when a pug win’s a RA match and get’s the equivalent of the current tournie chest etc.

Yeah indeed it does exist.

Condition removal/cleansing is the counter to conditions (toughness/protection is the counter to dps. Vitality/healing/regen etc. counters both conditions and dps. No to mention blocking/evading/invun). All classes can trait/build in a way that allows for effective protection against conditions, many people just need to adjust to the current meta. There is never, no matter who tells you (whatever their kitten rank is), just one viable tpvp build etc. available to a class. Also, while pvp involves no small amount of skill to be great there will always be an aspect of rock-paper-scissors in builds. Certain builds will always be effective against certain types and weaker to others in turn.

When other classes run away, they do that to earn some seconds. Those seconds are enough to put them at an advantage, like waiting for some cooldowns. Warriors get less advantages from running away.

What I’m saying is warriors are forced to play like: “kill it before his heal goes off cooldown. If you can’t manage to do that, you have lost.”

That forces us into rushing. And makes us predictable. We can’t wait for perfect occasions: by the time we wait, the enemy heal will be off cooldown (and ours will not, or is less efficient, and the longer a fight goes, the more this is important).

That’s because our heals are worse.

Indeed. Though most classes are fairly predictable nowadays, at the very least you can work out their rough build within a few seconds.
But warrior heals are supposed to be getting a buff next patch either way.

With scaling we all mean: the fact that I have a high HP doesn’t mean I can go with worse heals AND worse defences. That forces me into playing a “kill it before it kills you” kind of fight.

But that is basically how most classes play. If it’s not that then you’re playing a bunker build and if that’s the case you should be playing on a guardian not a warrior really

Yet higher HP pools are a trade off to mobility, and a fair trade off at that I believe.

All classes do have access to some form of leaving combat. Warrior can use skills like rush etc. to get away (you can also trait to remove soft cc), necro has flesh worm and spectral walk. (btw, necro has lifesteal as a class mechanic which when built right can heal as much as any bunker ele walking around with 13k hp yet with 27k + shroud. And not only are you healing, but all that heal is also damage on your opponent) Though you don’t have to rely on these, but then what you take instead you hope it fulfills a role that can risk your death more often. Also I’d have to say that Consume Conditions is my favorite heal skill in the game and one of the most effective/powerful especially in the current meta. Necro may be susceptible to cc but they are no glass canon’s. Also tactically, fear should be used to avoid cc in the first place. You’re able to do damage while the target is feared, fear chains override stunbreakers and you can force pepole off ledges/points. Fear is perhaps the most useful CC’s in the game.

With warrior at least (and balance is slowly getting there) the trade off is you’ve got the base hp of a necro but you’re wearing heavy armor and you’re capable of much higher direct damage. Balance doesn’t work the other way around if you’re able to hit hard and are a walking tank as well. Since the last patch warriors have had a lot more sustain and next patch I think we’re looking at improved healing skills for them so it’s going in the right direction, but you don’t want to make them too efficient at healing otherwise it undermines the base role of the class.

But heals should not scale with HP, they should scale with healing power as they do now. That’s what the stats for. I do feel though that investing in healing power could have a higher payoff that what it does now though.

Yeah as has been mentioned, it doesn’t clear conditions applied before 25%. Which is little enough HP that the stacks already on you from condition builds will likely kill you. If they heal then you can once again apply the stacks, no player even with the trait feels comfortable hanging around at under 25% hp.

It’s not as practical as it seems and even condition builds are able to apply direct damage.

One of there biggest problems is how easy you can get a tournament chest. If they simply hand out everything, of course people will want more.

I use to get excited getting a chest in the 8 team tournaments back then, but since the push for 2 team tournaments by offering more reward and more glory it hasn’t been the same and that was the death of 8 team tournament, now you just play a game and win and you got a free chest, which is pretty much just handing us free stuff.

I don’t think making rewards harder to get and more infrequent is the solution people are looking for…
