This is how I see it. look the meta still heavily favors power damage over condi damage. U can kitten and moan all that u want but almost every power build is stronger then a condi variant u could think of in pvp. the only thing that was argueble were certain amulets making condi classes bunkerish (which i personally had no problem with but i understand the sentiment)and have access to burst condi. But that makes the problem not so much the condi damage but the tanky nature added due to certain amulets.
But in all honesty in pvp i simply think they are hated for the same reason thiefs are hated. It’s really just the playstyle because no matter u slice and dice it, power builds reign supreme. Could u accept a defeat easier if u got killed by a class that either dodges your skills and defeats u by use of less frontal fighting style. Even tough dodging and figthing sneaky is thier fighting style. Even tough thiefs’s favourable match-ups aren’t even half of the classes available, even tough theif actually has trouble in teamfights and is forced to decap+1. Anybody less then a good thief has even less favourable match-ups and might not even beat mesmers even tough they should. And they could be average thiefs. They still get hate because bieng attacked from behind is percieved as scummy, less honorable.
Condition damage is passive by nature, only the application of it is active, but once they hit u, there is no need to maintain the condition at it’s core unless removed with cleanses. Let’s say u get hit with a 20 k evisrate. the person actually makes a physical action.
Get hit with 15 burn stacks 15 confusion and 12 torment and 16 bleed. And the one that applies the conditions can litterally stand for a few seconds till u drop death. It’s scummy because u just stand there and don’t do kitten. even tough the evisrate is instant. physical action was taken. Possibly even prior actions that required taking a hit first, maby some dodges, blows were trade beforehand.
It’s the fighting style, that is why u till now still have people kitten about thiefs even tough they keep getting nerfed or balanced. Same for conditions. it doesn’t matter what the facts show. Conditions will keep getting hated.
So… How do people feel about Condition Thieves, then?
It doesn’t matter if I tell these dumb kittens not to fight on roads or run into the enemy team one by one, no one cares, no one is interested in trying. But why is it like this for 12 matches in a row?

About how long do we usually have to wait before it’s worth playing? It’s completely intolerable at the moment, at least 75% of matches are complete blowouts.
It’s pretty bad. I mentioned in another thread that I’ve had 4 matches since S6 started that had 3 Thieves vs 3 Guards. Those matches are completely lopsided, of course. We had one match where the Thieves were able to out-rotate the other team, & we ended up winning, with 2 of us tied for Top Kills with just 1 kill each. But the other 3 matches went very differently…
Something really does need to be done about the class-stacking problem, though; I’ve had 4 matches since S6 started that had 3 Thieves vs 3 Guards. 4 matches like that! There has to be some way to break those up!
Stuff usually happens around 12:00pm PST (west coast time, US). I’m in Romania, for instance, & here I think that means… around 11:00pm tonight? Something like that, anyway. So ya, just 3 more hours to go!

Are you serious? Every single player in the game has to pore over the API on their own to find out how scoring works in a competitive portion of the game???
Yak kills give 3 points and sentries 1 point I think so it was always weird to me that you could just kill the yaks from enemy camp and get more PPT overall than to cap it and hold it.
Back at release, Yaks could grant up to 10 points… and they never told anyone! It wasn’t until Devon Carver got the forums that we found out that Yaks were yielding 1 point per tap, up to 10 points per Yak. All kinds of stuff all over the maps were yielding points, actually, and no one knew until nearly a year after the game’s release. lol
But if Yaks are also yielding points when they reach they’re destination (Caravan Deliveries), as listed in the OP of this thread, then the math on farming Yaks vs holding the camp is different. Unfortunately, I can’t find any mention anywhere of Caravan Deliveries giving points until THIS thread came out.
Sorry Luvpie, but I don’t think even Anet knows. I posted the same question on the forums, like, 2 minutes after you did. No response. Maybe tomorrow. Meanwhile, I’ve heard every possible combination of answers in TS this week, from PPK + Bloodlust all the way to “neither one is working”, so no one playing the game seems to know either.
Just remove rune of perplexity and tone down mesmer condition application. Simple fixes that would improve the health of small scale combat SO much, and not affect large scale combat.

Can we, at some point, please get a full list of things that add points to the board in WvW? This has been a constant point of confusion for WvW players since the game’s release. Not know where all of the points come from is incredibly frustrating in any competitive game, even semi-competitive. It would be a huge help to WvW players, imo, to know where ALL of the War Score comes from.
Also, yay for increased points from Yak-slapping, and other active gameplay!
Is Points Per Kill still in the game while on Alpine Borderlands? If so, how does this work with the Borderlands Bloodlust buff, which still lists Points per Finisher as part of its buff? Is there anyone official who can answer this question? Because I’ve been hearing people argue about it almost every day in-game, with some people saying that Points Per Kill doesn’t apply at all to Alpine BL’s, and some people saying that the Borderlands Bloodlust listing of Points Per Stomp is a typo, and some people even saying that we have Points Per Kill and DOUBLE Points Per Stomp, which I’ve never seen listed any where.
A reply from someone who actually knows, for a fact, how the scoring system works on Alpine BL (no guesses please) would be appreciated (^_^)!
However….. I do agree that something needs to be done to help a server that’s getting pushed that far back.
There’s already a mechanic in the game for this. It’s called Tier 2.
Just for reference, Devon Carver explicitly said that this was an exploit a few years on these forums. There was a fix put into the game shortly after that to keep people from dropping siege in Invulnerable areas, but people found a way around it by leaving the invulnerable area, turning around, and throwing siege behind them, back into the spawn area (sometimes WAY back into spawn/citadel). That’s the exploit we’re discussing here.
Hmm… A few BG guilds that I won’t mention (but have a lot of cheerleaders posting in this thread) have been in full PPT mode. All of this talk about YB this and that, meanwhile BG is tryharding on empty maps. Thought PPT was a “dead game mode”, yet here we are… I just think it’s funny that so many condemn YB while they do the exact same things (or at least try to). Nobody really denies what YB does but I don’t understand why others have to live in a delusional world.
Of course there will be posts saying “we don’t care” etc when BG places 2nd again. But you know. Kek

As for the fighting thing, YB lacks a large organized guild. It is not fun to continually run pugs into a group like Sekz and get bag farmed. If YB had a large organized guild I am sure the style of fighting would be different but finding 30 man guild groups is pretty rare these days.

The night before we had 1 or 2 even fights against XvX and/or GoF. Then they vultroned and brought MAS into the mix. So it was XvX, GoF, and MAS against 25 of us. 20 OnS+ 5 Pugs, and that has been typical.

After playing in only WvW-focused guilds for nearly 4 years (starting in early Beta), I’m taking a long break from WvW & from GW2 as a whole. These days, people like Pensadora, whom I’ve quoted above, are the only reason I still log back into the game from time to time. WvW has been through a lot of ups & downs over the last few years, but I’ve never seen it as low as it is now. I mean, we’ve had periods of inactivity before. We’ve had massively dominant servers lording over T1 before (HoD, SoS, JQ; even BG during each of the WvW League seasons). Those of us who’ve been playing since the beginning have seen many T1 servers, even dominant ones, completely fall apart, sometimes dropping all the way to the bottom Tier. But what’s happening since HoT released is different; this feels like massive numbers of players have all just given up on WvW. I really have no idea what Anet could do to bring people back at this point, especially after everyone was so hopeful that HoT would breathe new life into WvW last year. Really, the only thing keeping WvW alive at all right now seems to be the simple fact that there just isn’t a better RvR game out there (YET). I logged into BDO for the 1st time last week, & at least 50% of the players I talked to there were people who had left GW2 because of the current state of WvW.
And yeah, the point has been made already, but full-on, week long PPT grind is something that few people are really interested in anymore. It was a thing in 2012, some people kept it up throughout the WvW Seasons, but it’s not something that a server can sustain for 3+ years. Especially as more & more experienced Commanders leave the game, with few new players to take their place. This isn’t a BG problem, it’s game-wide. Winning the PPT game in T1 NA is a 24/7 grind that very few people are willing to put themselves & their guilds through anymore. I’d love to see Anet fix this somehow, or perhaps magically transport us all back to 2012 or something, but I think most people are already looking forward to new games coming out in the future (like Camelot Unchained, etc), or perhaps stepping outside to see what this “sun” thing is that their non-gamer friends keep talking about. I’ve hated the whole “ded game” meme since the 1st time I saw it mentioned in GW2’s WvW chat way back in 2012, but I’m afraid that, as far as WvW is concerned, even I have to admit that we may be at that point in the game now.

That’s what everybody said about the small handful of WvWthings that used to be required for World Completion; it’s just takes time, but it’s not impossible.
I wasted an entire day and wasn’t able to finish them? Is there a video anywhere of someone soloing all the Achievements in one go? If there is, I haven’t been able to find it yet, but I’d love to see how they did it.
Even if it is possible to solo them, it’s still ridiculous to have a stat set locked behind the most boring, tedious piece of content in the game. I’m sorry to hear that getting Viper stats is just as bad, but that doesn’t justify leaving Sinister in this state for 2 whole years! And please, Anet, if anyone there is reading this, PLEASE don’t lock another whole stat set behind ANOTHER set of Living Story Achievements! This kind of thing is terrible for the game, and severely limits people’s ability to change builds.
Ascended Sinister Trinkets are still locked behind a ridiculous bunch of Living Story season 2 Achievements that, as far as I can tell, are either impossible to solo or nearly impossible. After 2 years, it is almost equally difficult to find a group of people willing to go back to that story line just to help 1 person get the Achievements. In WvW, this is giving a small group of people who already had the game in mid-2014 & were therefore able to get the Achievements done the first time around a whole extra set of stats to choose from, which should be viewed as an unfair advantage. This also applies to PvE, since Sinister gear is now becoming popular for Raids.
It was a ridiculous idea to being with, requiring people to do a difficult set of Living Story Achievements just to unlock something that should have been available at the vendors in the first place. But enough is enough; it’s been 2 years already, just give people some normal way to get Sinister Trinkets that doesn’t require us to PAY some group of players to drag us through a bunch of Living Story Achievements that we never wanted to do in the first place! If you can take WvW completely out of World Completion, surely you can unlock this stat set at the Laurel Vendors after 2 LONG YEARS. Anybody who hasn’t done the Living Story Achievements by now probably has no intention of ever doing them, but it doesn’t mean they don’t want to use this stat set.
Please Anet, find some way to unlock this stat set. Anyone coming into the game now will find the stat set nearly impossible to obtain, and it’s just one more example of the type of thing that drives WvW players away.
I didn’t want to be forced to grind to get this in the first place. I don’t want to grind for wanderer’s or commander’s either. PVE completely blows and you are sucking the life out of my soul.

Incorrect. Only one ascended select-a-stat amulet is unlockable via achievements. The achievement are not impossible to solo, it would just take you a very long time to solo a few of them. Exotics of all trinkets can be crafted. Other ascended select-a-stat trinkets are only available from RNG drops from raid bosses.
Can you provide links to any Ascended Sinister Trinkets that can be purchased without finishing the Achievements? Wiki says that ALL of the Ascended Sinister Trinkets are locked behind the Living Story, and even if you drag yourself all the way through the story, you only get 1 Amulet and 1 Ring (can’t wear the same ring twice), & those aren’t even rewards, they’re just unlocked at the vendor finally. If you’re not interested in doing a very old Living Story path, then you are completely locked out of trying to get a full set of Ascended Sinister gear.
Also, if you could link a video here of someone soloing ALL of the Living Story 2 Achievements, it would be very helpful, as I’d love to see how they did it. Since you’re so insistent that people can solo them, I’m sure that a video of the entire thing must exist. I just can’t seem to find it anywhere, and have been unable to solo the Achievements myself, nor have I met anyone who has soloed all of them.

For reasons no one outside of Anet really understands yet, you have a much better chance of getting an OFFICIAL response to something like this by posting on Reddit than on the actual GW2 Forums. If that makes no sense to you, well… now you know how everyone who’s been posting on these forums for the past 3 years feels.
As far as I can tell, the Feast Recipes for all of the new Food Items from Heart of Thorns are BROKEN. Is there some new Feast Recipe for just these foods that hasn’t been listed on the Wiki yet? If not, and if these Foods are supposed to be using the same Feast Recipes as all the Food Items that were in the game before Heart of Thorns, including those from Silverwastes and Dry Top, then the Recipes appear to be bugged, as they are not showing up in the Mystic Forge as options at all.
We still can’t upgrade Ascended Armor or Weapons in the mystic forge to Trailblazer’s stats. All the other stat sets appear to be working, just this one set is completely broken. Looks like we’ll make it all the way to 2016 without fixing it; is that what’s happening? It’s pretty annoying. Does anyone at Anet know that it’s broken?
For reference: the Exotic Trailblazer’s Insignia & Inscription simply do not show up in the Mystic Forge’s UI at all when using the Mystic Forge. There is no option to add them to any recipes whatsoever.

Are all of the new Food items available in HoT missing their Feast/Pot recipes? So far, none of the new food items I’ve made even show up in the Mystic Forge panel. Is there a “discoverable” recipe for these in the crafting panel, or am I wasting my time there? Or is this something just isn’t in the game yet, or which will never be in the game? If we can’t make Feasts/Pots from these recipes, like we can with every other food item in the game, then the recipes now seem wildly disappointing, and should probably be a lot cheaper to purchase from the map vendors. If anyone actually KNOWS what the deal is with these missing recipes, I’d appreciate hearing about it (^_^).
Is the upgrade from “Bowl of Curry Mussel Soup” different from all of the other foods, or does it simply not exist anywhere in the game. The “Bowl of Curry Mussel Soup” doesn’t show up in the list of items I can use in the Mystic Forge at all. This applies to all of the new HoT Food recipes that I have so far, actually. Does anyone KNOW if this is a bug, or if there is a different recipe to upgrade these to Pots/Feasts that I should be searching for in the Crafting panel? Or will this be added to the game later? Thanks!
Unfortunately, an “Active Medium Pop Server” isn’t really a thing in WvW anymore. It’s Active, OR Medium Pop, not both. Which one are you looking for?
It takes just a little bit longer to reach any one of the Keeps than it used to.
That’s pretty much how it should be. For a long time, everyone complained that the ability to reach any Keep or Tower on any map within 30 seconds or less was a large part of what encouraged the Zerg-meta to be preferable to all other playstyles.
Unfortunately, people who enjoyed the Zerg-meta are the only ones who continued to play WvW for the past 3 years, so naturally the only people left to comment on the new Borderlands are people who preferred the Alpine Borderlands, so it makes sense that there are tons of complaints. The new maps just came about a year and a half too late; anyone who had a problem with the old Alpine Borderlands has probably moved on by now.

Ok, so I’ve run about at least 20 Stronghold matches this weekend, & the problem I’m seeing is that there is essentially NO REASON TO FIGHT ANYONE.
The map is set up basically like 2 separate dungeons, with teams racing to finish their dungeon first. It is a race to finish the enemy Lord; for teams that are playing to win the match, there is no other aspect to this map whatsoever. There is NO INCENTIVE TO DEFEND your Lord at all. Defending the Lord just means that you are losing a little more slowly; you are not winning. It is IMPOSSIBLE TO WIN BY DEFENDING. That’s right, there is absolutely no possible way to win kill the enemy Lord by defending your Lord. The only way to win this map is by rushing the enemy Lord as fast as possible, meaning that any fights you engage in with the enemy team are a complete waste of your time. If any Devs are reading this, feel free to look up my account to see my win-loss record on this map; rushing the Lord as fast as possible, while avoiding any other objectives that don’t get you to the Lord, is the only reliable way to win this map.
I’ve also seen a lot of teams who do dedicate a whole team to defending. I’ve been on teams that got full-wiped in the Lord’s room 4-5 times, but we still won the match. We were IN the Lord’s room! It takes less than 10 seconds after you respawn to run back to the enemy Lord’s room, so there’s absolutely no reason not to simply yolo in over and over until you’ve finally worn the Lord’s health down to zero. And while your enemies are wasting time defending their Lord, you can infinitely respawn Heroes and Archers to send in to the enemy Lord’s room while you regroup to run over there, keeping the enemy defenders trapped in that room.
The meta for this map is already laid out: Full zerk, full DPS on every member of the party, rush the enemy Lord as fast as possible, avoid anything that might slow you down (like fights or secondary mechanics), & immediately run back to the Lord on respawn until he goes down. Anything else you do is simply stalling your inevitable loss. As I said, it is IMPOSSIBLE to kill the enemy Lord from your own Lord’s room. Defending, tanking, healing, fighting, anything that slows down your party’s objective of killing the enemy Lord (an NPC) is a complete waste of time, if your team’s goal is to win on this map.
Basically, it’s a dungeon. I assume that, for once, [DnT] is going to finally lord over an entire map in PvP now.
15 second cooldown. That might be the biggest problem with Taunt; that you can use it so often, and it shuts down another player for a full 2 seconds, and is completely unavoidable. The cooldown should always have been twice as long; you shouldn’t be able to use this 2-3 times in the same fight.

Dust Strike needs to kick up a Smoke Field that sits there for 3 seconds, and Vault ABSOLUTELY needs to be a Blast Finisher. All of the Staff attacks need to be faster.
So far, it seems like any time I try to use the Staff on Thief, I just end up asking myself, “Why am I not on my Warrior? He does all the same things, but better, and with more baseline Health & Armor!”
As for the additions to Dodge, I rather like those, as long as I’m not using Staff. The Daredevil trait line is still a bit weak in comparison to existing Thief trait lines, however, so as it stands now, it’s hard to see it getting much use.
The Physical Skills… I’m still trying to get the hang of those. Really, Impairing Daggers is the only new Skill that even seems useful, and the only one that actually feels like a THIEF skill. The other problem, of course, is that these Physical Skills are competing with Shadow Refuge, Shadowstep, Blinding Powder, Infiltrator’s Signet, Venoms (for Venom Share Thieves), Signet of Shadows (25% movement speed), and so on. And it’s really, REALLY hard to imagine giving up Basilisk Venom in the Elite slot for Impact Strike, unless Impact Strike is massively buffed. Like, if the Stun and Uppercut could hit up to 3 Targets in the same radius as melee weapon skills, or if the skill suddenly did a ton of damage. Even Dancing Daggers and Thieves Guild will probably see more use than Impact Strike in its current state.
The Staff is really fun, at least (^_^).
It just needs to be more on-par with the existing weapon sets, or give me some reason to use this weapon on Thief instead of simply using another class that’s better-suited to be the Bruiser in a group.
