I went to visit my friend who lives in Sweden during the summer (I am in the UK). He only has one PC, and while I was there I logged in and did my dailies, then he logged on to his account later in the day to do his dailies. I’m now worried either he or I will have our accounts of 3 years banned due to this.
I did not share my password with him, and he didnt share his with me, and I used the account protection system – but we did use the same IP for the 3 days I was there.
Please can you clarify your stance on this, as he is due to visit me soon and we will need to ensure he does not try and play at all while he is here if this is a bannable action now.
Thank you.
If you did not share account should not have problem. Even if friend do something against ToS on his account since do not share it will not show any relationship to you account ID. Only will show same IP and computer ID but account ID will be different and not related because do not share. What person in this thread has problem with is they share account with people who also cheat or person they share with share also account with person that cheat. So this leave a trail of account ID all show together related to someone that cheat. Hard to explain but hope it make some sense.
Thanks for the reply. No, we did not share accounts, he has no idea of my login details, and I have no idea of his, we just used the same PC for a couple of days briefly. In fact he was out shopping whilst I was doing dailies.

Thank you, I was beginning to think my PC was borked
Sometimes yes, other times its Internet Not Available or Network Error
I was playing fine, as normal. Then I logged off to get some food, went to log back on and it said Network Error, possibly due to the firewall.
It did this 3 or 4 times, then let me log on. Then I went to swap characters (still in the log in screen) and its back to either Network Error, Internet Not Available, or Firewall Error.
Well, none of that is a problem – I checked…
Any idea what on earth is going on? Been playing for years and never had this before
Thanks
No, they just added that today
Hi Arena Net
Just to let you know that the Revenant class is missing from the Daily “Exotic Equipment” chest list.

Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

The gliding, once I had worked out how to get a mastery point, is quite fun. But the rest of it I am finding quite confusing. With the base game, one of the great things about it (design wise) was the way it taught you the game in a really simple quick way. With the expansion, it feels as though you are battling to learn anything. It took me an age to figure out how to start with an Elite Specialisation, and then another age to work out how to get a mastery point (it said I had one, but it wouldnt let me use it, which made no intuitive sense). Then you find adventures, that seem to have no bearing on anything, with rewards that are frankly rubbish (level 79 blue items from the base game as “gold” level), or rewards that vanish (I have won a ton of “Bag of Gear”s so far, but they all disappear when I loot them) – no explaination on how to find “crowbars” for the things dotted around, and worse of all, things you don’t seem to be able to use until you have gained the equivalent of another X levels.
And although I like they have upped the mob challenge, to go from “easily soloable with any old build” to “getting bottom kicked by single mob with full orange gear” is a bit of a leap. At least have it get harder as you go in.
Anyway – we’ll see. I’ve been playing ESO whilst waiting for the expansion recently, and am enjoying it a lot more, so may jump back to that whilst they spend a few weeks fixing this.
Don’t need it, don’t like it.
Housing in general is a nail into the coffin, like it was with Wildstar. After all, the whole point of MMORPG is player interaction, not sitting in your instanced “home”. Plus we already have home areas in main cities, which could be visited for certain things you get for getting achievements/buying with laurels/gems/name it, that are not required in any way, which is okay by me.
Yep exactly. Housing killed off Ultima Online, EverQuest 2, SWTOR, Lord of the Rings Online and all the others. They all closed their servers almost immediately following the addition of this useless game mechanic.
Of course, its best not to mention how they also went on to add new crafting professions, new rare housing items to find in Raids and Dungeons (giving players a new reason to go there), and opened whole new market places to cater to the sudden surge in players building houses, plus giving players a whole new reason to log in to keep their rent going, thereby helping maintain healthy servers.
So yes, down with player housing! Boo!
Hi,
My apologies if this has been asked before (I did glance through the forums but couldn’t spot it) – but is there anyway to gift the expansion to someone, or buy it for them? I wanted to pre-order it for a friend for their birthday as a surprise, but can’t see anyway to do it.
Please god no. I am not good at jumping puzzles. I don’t want to have another daily as part of the roulette that I end up avoiding.
I don’t like PvP, and yet the Dailies are full of them – so why should a bit of content you dont like be excluded, but a bit of content I dont like be included?
I happen to love the jumping puzzles and be quite good of them – so please Dev’s, re-add these in back in.
Awesome, thank you
Since the patch me and my guildees cant chat in our guild. Just says “You are not in a guild” when we do. We tried unrepresenting and re-representing but it didnt help.
Im guessing its not just us, but from my brief scan of the forums I couldnt see any other topics (probably missed it!)
Stop zerging very small groups then? Why would you even want to kill a 4 man group when you are in a 30-40 one? Or solo players for that matter. Did you expect a “well done” message from that player?
Im not aware we “zerg’d” anyone to be honest. I joined a group with a commander, we took over a castle, then the other server attacked what I presume is our main base so I went and defended, then got messaged. I just presumed this was normal play.
Im more than happy to run around on my own though if thats “how its done” in WvW.
I’m fairly new to WvW, but a long time GW2 player.
However, I was under the impression that the other servers players were fairly anonymous – which made it very odd when, last night, a player started private messaging me giving me abuse because apparently I had killed him when I was part of a “blob” and that I sucked, and should come and meet him one on one where he would teach me a lesson. He kept telling me that my server’s “blob” was too big, and that I should stop them from doing this style of play.
How exactly he thought I was going to be able to influence all the players on the server I was part of, I don’t know.
However, my question is – how do players on other servers know my name (I thought it just showed my class and server)? Is it normal they then contact you to give you abuse? And then.. is my server bad for having a group of players following a commander as he runs around taking castles?
If at least one member is still in the instance, it will not reset. If everyone leaves, then it resets.
I’m not sure how the game would be able to tell if everyone DC’d versus everyone bailed on the dungeon. Since dungeons have multiple paths and many groups run them all, it would be inconvenient if everyone had to wait some time after running a path to start the next one. (I can think of some ways around it, but they would all involve semi-complex algorithms that would have to be thoroughly discussed, tested, played-to-fail, and debugged.)
Like other games do, it just saves your partys progress for 20 minutes, and if you all drop you zone back in where you were. Its quite easy, it knows which WP’s we had unlocked last, so save it to the server at that point, and delete the save either when the party complete and manually leave via the leave button, or after 20 minutes of no interaction. Stops the frustration caused by the overloaded servers.
We were all on Skype, we are a group of friends. One member started lagging, then another, then they were kicked, then the rest of us were all kicked (“you were disconnected from the server”). When we logged back in we were outside and it had reset. We are all on different connections (one in Sweden, 4 in different parts of the UK). Very frustrating as we had tried to work it out and not use the guides and it had taken ages, and we got no reward due to it.
All our party lost connection to the server, and when we got back in the Dungeon we had been in for an hour had reset and we were outside.
This was only our second dungeon.
Is this normal? In other games if the server resets you get to go back in where you were up to before. Does GW2 not bother to do this?
How much is it in Gold? I wasnt aware you could do that. And what is a Gem Card?
I just realized how rarely I do jumping puzzles these days. And I love jumping puzzles! Back when they were in the rotation for dailies I had an extra excuse to leave WvW or farming world bosses and go jump around for a bit. I feel that bringing jp dailies back into the rotation for the pve category would be a great thing. Right now I doubt that many new players are seeking out jumping puzzles as much as if there was occasionally a daily incentive.
Yes, I find I dont do nearly as many as I used to now
Tbh, Id be surprised if new players had even heard of them since the death of the Daily.
Hi, my buddies just started and I want to gift them the Season 2 episodes, is there anyway to do this? I cant see it anywhere so guessing not?
Me and my guild used to log on every evening to do our dailies after work . We would enjoy finding new jumping puzzles and taking people through them, finding new events as we hunted for gathering items, search for Champions and Veterans, show each other ones we had found that they had not, help each other with the Crafting by handing over gathered items and generally have good fun exploring and socializing together and meeting new friends, all because of the dailies or the monthlies. Often we would have that “Ok, ill stay on for 10 more mins just to finish this one” conversation, which would always turn into an extra half an hour or more. Or we’d arrange to log in at the weekend to try and finish the monthlies together.
But since this change, most of the guild have slowly stopped logging in, and those that do dont really chat or run around too much. Theres a feeling of disappointment that the game we enjoyed is not “quite” the same anymore. I know it seems like overkill, and that they could still do all those things – but without that lure of “completing the daily or monthly” they seem to have lost purpose. One person even told me “they broke my game, I dont really feel the urge to play anymore”.
Its a shame. You could have kept the old system, added this new system and just let us choose which to do… Oh well.
Thanks for posting this. The answer that I found in the thread, from John Smith, is that the limits were put in place for technical reasons.
I hope that’s helpful information.
Its not “that” helpful lol. May as well just say “Because it is”
Please add Oculus Rift support
I was just wondering if its gonna be more than 10 GB?
No, its going to be 7.65 gb, so you should be OK.
Although of course between now and when its finally finished being programmed, designed and released, it may well change (higher or lower).
Hey folks,
Now that the HOT is out of the bag, we’re able to update this thread with more details. With the introduction of the new account based mastery system for end-game progression and growth in PvE, we’ll also be re-evaluating our other systems of character progression to ensure they match our over-all pillars and goals for Gw2.
In doing so: we’re going to be removing the current trait unlocking system currently on live and replacing it with a more simplified system that supports where skills-traits-specializations are going in the future. We’ll go into more details between now and the release of HOT on how skills, traits, and specializations will work in the new Gw2 world.
Thank you for all your passionate feedback on this topic – it not only helped our dev team lead to this decision, but has played a large role in helping us define how to build our exciting new account based mastery system for end-game progression in PvE as well.
Why do MMOs feel the need to do this after a few years? Do you think that the longer we play your game, the more dumb we get, and therefore need you to keep simplifying things?
We aren’t children, we can cope with more than one button or system, in fact most of us crave the complexity!
In fact, you dumbing down your game with more and more patches like this drives most of your loyal fanbase away! First it was the leveling processes, then the weapon skills, then the traits, then the dailies and monthlies, now this again – soon we will just log in, press one button, level to 80, get everything auto assigned, and log off.
Your game “was” brilliant. Now, it is becoming like every other dumbed down one button point and click game out there.
My code finally arrived.
Still nothing here.
Thanks. Although I also reported it 16 hours ago, and started this thread. So I dont hold out much hope lol

Still no code
Hey, all,
Good news!
We will extend the sale until 9:00 AM Pacific time (5:00 PM/17:00 GMT) so that you are able to take advantage of the special sale price for Guild Wars 2.
Wait, are you saying that if we have not been sent our serial we are not entitled to the discount? I think you#ll find I have an invoice receipt from you stating we now own it… Therefore no matter when you get around to actually sending the code I expect to not be charged any extra, or you’ll find your in breach of a number of sales laws..
HoT could be months (or years) away, and honestly until it’s in front of me I won’t dare to hype it up.
Try 6 weeks as Mike said.
Demo’d dude, demo’d. Not released, launched, beta’d or available. If you go to PAX you get to try it out for 10 minutes.
If I have to guess, we didn’t get SAB in the last 1,5 year because Josh was working on the two new zones, also since we’ll be getting “new ways to explore” (aka gliding) I guess they want to include that to world 3 as well.
I think it would be cool to experience the new mechanic in SAB before they release HoT it could also work as an open beta test
I think they said hang-gliding would be in the HOT zones. As far as I know the SAB is not a HOT zone? So why you have leapt to the conclusion that they have held off the SAB so they can put hang gliding in I have no idea.
Dude, you get a wolf you’ll use once.. its hardly worth the money. Stick to the base game and save the cash for other things you’ll use in game.
Ok, I give up. 14 hours now, still no serial number. Wasted a day on this, so heading to bed. Goodnight thread.
Well Gaile, as I said, I’m the OP so if you re—read the original post at the top of this thread made first thing this morning you’ll see that I was originally saying I had not been sent a code, and indeed now, some 13 hours later, we’ve still not been sent a code.
I hope this answers your question.
I understand. What payment method did you use? And what is your general location?
Thank you for this info. It will help us help you and perhaps other players, as well.
I am in the UK, we used a credit card, we got a confirmation email (see the picture in the first post), I received confirmation of my payment, we have been charged for the payment, we have the page open still if you want me to send you the confirmation, I have the order number here if you want it.
I also submitted a Support ticket with the order number and full details.
14 hours and still no serial number….

Hi, OP here – still not had any codes come through, or any reply to my support ticket.
Its been almost 12 hours now since the purchase was made…
https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
You DO need an account to contact support.
My friend has just been advised that – Request could not be created.
You don’t, we just submitted one and didn’t have to enter any account details.
For people that just purchased it, the serial key should be displayed on the page directly after the purchase, where it asks if you want to register it. Clicking register will simply go to the registration page and show the key. If the key was also missing here, they likely ran out of EU keys, their system broke or if the keys originate from NA, the EU network issue could be the cause.
For people that no longer have that option, you have 2 options. It’ll take several more hours before the main team is available where they’ll likely find a problem and resend the emails. If they don’t, it’ll likely take much longer for support to manually deal with your tickets. The other and much quicker option is to contact support with your transaction number and request a refund. You can then purchase the game again, but this time obtain the key from the purchase page.
Healix, whilst we all appreciate you trying to help, the advice you have given in two separate posts is actually not the issue at all, so it may be best to wait for Support to wake up in the US and come and deal with it rather than you jumping in.
As most of us are existing long term players helping friends or relatives through buying a second copy, we are all well aware of how it works, and we are instead using this thread to alert Support to the issue.
Also, advising people to buy another copy, and then request a refund is probably not the best advice you could be offering.
I think they are just a bit bugged today due to the overwhelming interest following the expansion announcement
Yeah the one here was bought on a CC, so its not a Paypal issue.
Maybe we’ll get the player housing they mentioned before launch in the next expansion? :P
For passwords they prefer you to use a unique pass phrase that no one else may have used such as “icantgetthispasswordtoworkanditsreallyannoying” or the like.
This is from the email (order number hidden) – the Serial number is missing completely.
Hi,
My friend just bought a copy of the game, but the email he’s been sent (sat next to me) has no serial number in it. Just an order number a link to register – but the link asks for the serial number. Tried the order number, but there is nothing else on the email?
Where do we get the code from?
Cheers
Did he not state in the speech that you would gain and use mastery points / skills inside the expansion land? I may have missed the bit where he said that gliders and HOT skills would be used in the basic game land but I’m fairly sure he didnt…
OP, have you played an MMORPG before? What normally happens is the base game is released, the company then release small content patches to keep the players playing, then work up to a big expansion after a few years of initial release.
The Living world content patches are Anets version of the small content patches, and the Expansion is their version of an… expansion.
This is the normal way things are done, but with Anet you have been given much more from the small content patches, and they havent charged you a monthly subscription.
No, I wont be buying it.
I mean, although I clearly like the game so much I feel compelled to read and post on their forums, and probably spend most days playing the existing game, I will still find a reason to tell everyone that I wont be buying it – probably citing the price ($30 every 2 years is just too much), or the lack of a feature I came up with once on my own and have since pinned all my hopes on it appearing, or possibly just because I’m in a bad mood and am annoyed at all these people who seem to like the idea of tons of new content and features.
So no, I wont be buying it. Unless I change my mind, which I probably will, but that’s up to me and and none of your business. Unless I decide to post about it later. Which I probably will.
