ANet obviously doesn’t care about any weapon not being a greatsword.

ANet, fixing the legendary you broke isn’t about the “amount of interest”. People who worked for months to craft ANY legendary deserve their weapon to get fixed, no matter if they crafted Eternity, a random underwater weapon or the warhorn. It’s kinda disrespectful to only fix obvious bugs if there’s popular demand, especially if the bugged weapon is so expensive.

ANet (2013): “we want to give high level characters a reason to get back to low level zones!” (boosts champion loot).
ANet (2014): we nerf champ loot to oblivion “to ensure new players focus on learning the core game experience.”

Whatever. If you don’t want those new players to know GW2 is a grindfest, don’t make the game a grindfest in the first place. All new content you add is grindy. Better teach those new players how it goes instead of keep them unaware.

Any news on how and when this is gonna be fixed? Howler was already pretty underwhelming compared to other legendaries (almost invisible footsteps, w00t…) and now it’s a silver horn with a bit of mist. Noone will guess it’s a legendary. Where’s the full moon graphic during the night? The stardust?

Fixed a bug that caused the Howler to endlessly loop its trumpet animation at night.

The nighttime difference was a bug, not intentional.

The sound looping at night was a bug, but the visual difference (moon showing up in the loop formed by the horn at night, glowing particles) clearly was intended. Now, there’s nothing left of the tiny bit of effects that made the horn legendary. It wasn’t impressive, now it’s a plain silver horn.

Paradox.5498

So another 2 weeks, at least. Right? In a game where items like legendaries and fractal weapons and Tequatl Hoard weapons and titles like Wurm Slayer are pretty much the only “bragging rights” you can get, a bugged meta for the rare end game content is not fixed until, like, half the player population gets it? I can see why it has no priority for Anet but I guess I’m not the only one who’s at least slightly disappointed.

Also, don’t worry about introducing new bugs with badly tested changes. I’ve spent a long night trying to get access to Scarlet’s drill but except the very first time, every time we got 3 knights down, we couldn’t get the buff needed to use the teleporter. And half of the times the blues knight just reset to full health mid fight. So much for testing.

Like I posted there, there’s an NPC near the portals in Vigil Keep welcoming players to “Lion’s Arch North”. I think ANet might have kept the name on purpose.

So, Lion's arch post-Scarlet. . .

Paradox.5498

I expect Lions Arch to become a new dungeon. It’ll be called “The Ruined City of Lions Arch”.

Story mode: we’ll get to kill Mordremoth, the dragon awakened by Scarlet’s digging. This fight is meant to be epic but will be largely completed by a Deus-Ex-Machina mechanism and where you should get some recognition for killing the 2nd Elder Dragon of GW2, most of the credit goes to a certain herbal necromancer and a bunch of spoiled, infantile, quarreling representatives of all playable races.

Explorable modes will each deal with one of the weird armies Scarlet gathered:
p1 – Molten
p2 – Aetherblade
p3 – Toxic.

During each path however we’ll have to beat a boss that’s partly Twisted and partly lion statue.

Just to verify one thing – did you skipped the phase when the bug occurred (It has happened to Deso day after patch as well). I’d suggest to let him attack between 50 and 25, not go straight between defence phases.

Not sure, I was running back to turret defense when the bug occured so I might have missed a couple of seconds of him attacking but you might be right. Never was a problem before though, only “penalty” of killing him “too fast” was the bone wall you’d get at the end of the last defense phase.

For 2 days in a row [TxS] saw the Teq encounter bug out. What happens is that when a defense phase should start, Teq just disappears while the timer keeps counting down. No defense events. On the spot where Teq’s head normally would be between defense events, it’s still possible to do damage to Teq with AoE attacks or anything that doesn’t need a target. This way, 2 nights ago TxS managed to get Teq down another 25% after which he reappeared. Last night however this workaround didn’t succeed and the whole event just failed. Frustrating to have a big event that’s been working fine until now get messed up by a new patch… Also frustrating to end up with nothing after the preparations, waiting time, taxiing, use of consumables etc.

I don’t get all the hassle for something that will be over in maximum 2 weeks. Are you that bothered by a few more loading screens for that time? If you’re on a weak machine / have slow internet, LA was an awful choice in the first place anyway.
When they leave this permanent, which they won’t, then you can complain and accuse them of ‘forcing players into things’, but that’s just not the case.

So they sell 2 week passes for 150 gems and permanent passes for 1000 gems and in 2 weeks they put everything back in1 zone? I hardly think so to be honest.

As I said before, LA was always a stupid place to craft in the first place. Furthermore I rarely saw people crafting there when I was in the area – people are just bandwaggoning one person’s bad perspective. A moderator should close this thread because it’s pathetic.

So beause you disagree with the majority of posts, it’s pathetic. Nice. YOU don’t feel the new situation is a step back but you could try accept that for many players it actually is. Some ppl (like me) don’t suffer long loading times in LA, actually DO use the mystic forge on daily basis (and no, I’m definitely not loosing money, I’m not a gambler. The MF has more uses than flushing gear) and love the fact that LA had crafting stations, trade post, bank and mystic forge all close to one and the same waypoint. Also there was a social aspect to LA being the central hub. The convenience is now only accessible through character specific gem store purchases (yes they’re account bound but continuously exchanging is a hassle) and the social aspect is just gone while it could’ve moved to Vigil Keep as well.

You can disagree all you want but don’t be blind to the fact that other people have other opinions and those opinions are at least just as valid as yours.

Seriously people, why are you even angry about this? You can do everything available in that airship (and the terrace in DR) in EVERY RACE CAPITAL. Always.
The only thing I don’t get is why people would even spend money on this service…and if they do, for the convenience of not having to walk at all, well, they obviously have enough gold or money to spare.

Please enlighten me and point me to the nearest mystic forge in any of the capitals. LA’s convenience was that it was the only place where crafting stations, mystic forge, trade post and bank were all close to another. Now you either gotta pay for that convenience (and quite a hefty price if you have 8 or more characters) or -on crowded servers- queue for EB, or suffer a lot of loading screens when trading/crafting/forging alot. I can totally see why this is hardly acceptable for many players to be honest. It’s an awful decision to hide these services behind a gem store exclusive item.

The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug. The decision to throw cooldowns on them were for server performance/stability as the patch notes said, not for balance. Period. This was something that was long overdue.

Think of it this way: Between the embers and whistle, those items were effectively doubling/tripling the amount of players active in a map.

As for the Charrzooka, I’m not sure what the reasoning behind that change was. That wasn’t part of the change to summons, or at least that I’m aware of.

Everything we think is clever use of game mechanics (use of teleport guns and spy kits in fractals, embers in boss fights) is being marked as bugs and nerfed to smithereens. Where’s the fun in that? “Play the game the way YOU like” was what sold this game to many people in the first place. Why don’t you just admit that you only want us to kill content the way you intended when designing it, that you don’t like creativity or surprises?

Okay, then explain me the following scenario:

1. People waypoint from LA to Sparkfly and end up in an overflow.
2. Those people ask in guildchat for taxi.
3. Those people get invited to party.
4. Those people right-click the portrait of someone in the party who’s on the main map and chose “Enter Sparkfly Fen”.
5. Those people get a short loading screen and are on the main map.

The fact that they end up in an overflow means the map is softcapped. The fact that they can get to the main-map with right-click-transfer means that it works. Or did I miss something?

Now that you say you’re in TTS… maybe people who are guesting can not do that? Maybe people who guest need to use the other method? If so, then “native” players indeed have a bit of an advantage over guesting players already.

What you are missing is that we’ve been telling you THERE IS NO OPTION TO RIGHTCLICK-JOIN when you’re trying to get into a main (non-overflow) map! Check it when you’re playing again. There. Is. No. Such. Option. You can rightclick-join your friends in overflow but NOT in main maps. The only option to get through soft cap is join someone in a party who’s already in the main map and then zone in onto that map from an adjacent zone and hope you’re lucky. There is no other way.

Did you even read what I just wrote? Point 1 to 5? It appears for everyone in the Tequatl-guild of our server, there IS such an option. We are using it EVERY DAY. I myself did so last time yesterday, because there already was an overflow when I entered Sparkfly. But I had no problems at all to right-click taxi onto the main map after I got invited into a party with someone who’s already there. Maybe you guys have another client? Or maybe it’s just like I guessed, and it has to do with people who are only guesting maybe not being able to right-click transfer to main maps, but “native” players being able to? It baffles me how you insist that this option doesn’t exist, when me and 90 other people use it on a regular basis.

Well, aparently you’re getting a different treatment than me, as I never get this option when I’m not trying to join an overflow, neither when I’m guesting nor when I’m trying to be in the main zone on my home server, nor is anyone else in the guilds I’m in. I’d love to see a screenshot where you show the “join” option without the overflow part in it. Cause it this is true, I want to confront ANet and know why I don’t get this option. Ever.

A “soft cap” would be something like 90 players already on the main server. Any new players trying to WP in will automatically go into the overflow. The only people that can get in is if someone is partied, and enters through a map portal.

Right-click on the portrait of someone in your party who’s on the main map and chose “Enter map xy”. Works perfectly fine until it’s hardcapped. No need to enter the map through a map-portal.

Only works for joining ppl in overflow maps, not in main maps.

And I’m telling you we always taxi in from overflow to main-map with right-click —> enter sparkfly.

No. Once the map is “soft capped”, you cannot right click to join on the main. You must enter Spark Fly from an adjoining map to bypass the cap. I’m in TTS, and we fill maps on guest servers daily, so I have a bit more experience regarding full maps.

And then there’s changes many people even noticed. Like the ones made to Sylvari cultural armor. There’s a couple of nice threads about this in the Sylvari subforum:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/sylvari/Why-was-the-color-changed/first

Here’s what Kristen Perry said about the glow a month ago:

I originally started typing up a big post about explanations and reasons and theories, but I think that they’d get in the way of the point I’m trying to make, so I’ll keep it as concise as I can.

What is:
Glow mask areas remove the shiny effect beneath them in the current system.

The armor glow and skin glow are two different systems. The only control currently possible is through the armor dye of that area.

What will be:
Textures: I’ll get the textures to work like they used to. By this, I mean they can go back to darker and have their gradients as much as I can while keeping the glow.

Dye Masks: I will get them to behave more like the old shapes, but you’ll still see some tweaks because of the glow. I see a couple folks mentioning dye masks being removed. This was unintentional and I’ll look into it.

Glow Shape: I can minimize some of the glow layer shape in the texture so it doesn’t affect the broadness of specular as much. You’ll get most of your shiny leaves back.

What I’m working on:
The glow isn’t as rich and saturated as one would predict. This wasn’t touched and is not a part of the texture or dye files, even though the dye shape is now controllable. There may be a way to get this changed on the shader, but it would only affect cultural armor and nightmare court stuff, not any clothing.

The glow can get to be more aligned to the color. If you dye the shape blood red, it will glow like a traffic light. If you dye it dark red, it’ll glow dark red. If you dye it pink, it will glow pink. If you dye it white, it will blow out so bright. …if you dye it black or dark dark dark, it’ll barely glow if at all.

By dying it dark, you can effectively artificially “mostly turn off” the glow. This is the biggest middle ground while still giving the people who love the glow their choice as well.

Thanks everyone for your feedback on this change. I tried my best to explain this system and what I’m working on, but there are technical elements and nuances that are fairly complex to describe. Note that any changes I could make will not get into the game the next build release. But they may get into the build after that. Now back to work for me. :}

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/sylvari/Cultural-Armour-Glow-Compendium-Completed/page/2#post3129689

And all that’s happened is that next patch, changes were reverted to the old situation! Not a word from ANet why this happened and if there’s still someone working on an actual improvement of the glow and our possibilities to have control over the glow colour and intensity, just a silly patch note saying it was reverted to the old situation.

I’m passionate about your game and fractals but some of the changes, the many unsolved bugs and the complete lack o’ acknowledgement of our feedback turns me off thoroughly. Please, ANet, make us happy and actually FIX that patch!

Paradox.5498

Now that the Fractured subforum has begun collecting dust in the archives, could we please get a dev to respond to the many valid complaints in that forum? For a couple of weeks, devs shunned that subforum like it was highly contagious. But many of the features implemented in that patch (not just the actual fractals) are here to stay and I think it’s time we got some clarity about the future of this content. After all, before the patch we were fed some really awesome information and a lot of it turned out to be plain lies (fractal balance and duration) or just a small bit of the actual truth (fractal weapon chests! Nice feature when announced, only omitting the fact that it wouldn’t actually be in the patch).

Me calling the part about fractal balance and duration a “plain lie” might sound harsh but please explain what happened to:

We’re currently looking at a few things regarding individual fractal difficulty and length. A couple of options are reducing the length of unnecessarily long fractals (dredge) and modifying the possible sequence of randomly selected fractals so you don’t get the longest and most difficult ones all on the same run.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Fractals-took-WAY-too-long/first#post2828742

Adding mobs, teleporting dead players off buttons… Every single change only made the fractal longer, harder, more tedious and hated even more than before. In all honesty, the only positive comments you’ll find on this forum about the dredge fractal are “I like the loot”, referring to the many heavy mining bags you’ll get off the gazillion mobs spawning from the car. And to make matters worse, you’ll always end up with Underground Facility as your third fractal, so skipping this fractal is basically impossible without wasting a large amount of time and progress. I can see why it was never meant to be skippable but… I seriously can’t think of one reason why ANet would find it “working as intended” or even “acceptable” that there’s one single fractal that’s hated with a passion by pretty much everybody and alone manages to scare people away. For many groups, getting Dredge equals a wasted evening. It is not fun in the current format. Yet in the many many post-patch topics about this, we never got a single reaction!

The same holds true for the many bugs and other issues people encountered in fractals. For a nice overview; see this topic:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/fractured/Summary-of-Fractal-Issues-and-Bugs/first

To name some: uninfused rings dropping even in the highest current levels, fractal weapons still dropping where they should be skins (some are, some aren’t), Cliffside arm seals not properly resetting, Snowblind checkpoint not working, experimental weapon room bugging out when NPCs are too far.

Good job on that… Not only it’s longer, but also more annoying now. Can we enjoy fractals for once without having to worry about the dredge all the time? It makes the whole experience incredibly frustrating. At this point, each time we get a level that’s NOT dredge we’re celebrating.

Well, we had a fractal upgrade with fractured subforum and voiced our disappointment a thousand times and never got even one dev response during those two weeks. Apparently, noone at ANet even cares that Dredge has become even more imbalanced, frustrating tedious and -let’s face it- HATED than ever before and it was really bad to begin with. I’ve lost all hope that it’ll ever be fixed to be honest. If ANet was actually working on a real fix, they’d have no reason whatsoever to keep it silent, as an actual fix would make fractal fans squee and rejoice. But the silence about fractals since the fractal patch has been deafening…

Grenth hood ruined.

I wish there were toggles for the various races for stuff like this… Allow Charr to show or hide their horns and Asura to show or hide their ears when wearing a head piece, and Sylvari to toggle glow on and off for instance.

If YOU could change 7 things about GW2

1) Redesign the Dredge fractal so it’s actually fun to do and comparable in length and difficulty to the other fractals.
2) Redesign the Dredge fractal so it’s actually fun to do and comparable in length and difficulty to the other fractals.
3) Redesign the Dredge fractal so it’s actually fun to do and comparable in length and difficulty to the other fractals.
4) Redesign the Dredge fractal so it’s actually fun to do and comparable in length and difficulty to the other fractals.
5) Redesign the Dredge fractal so it’s actually fun to do and comparable in length and difficulty to the other fractals.
6) Redesign the Dredge fractal so it’s actually fun to do and comparable in length and difficulty to the other fractals.

7) If 1) to 6) are impossible for some obscure reason: remove the Dredge fractal entirely.

the item info still states that it is account bound

i don’t think item itself got fixed, only the recipe…kind of

I think that’s the way ANet wants it to be. Apparently the recipes were intended to be tradable but the actual back pieces weren’t. See last patch notes; where the Grenth back piece was changed to account bound

read the topic … the recipe is meant not the item light of dwayna

the recipe has been fixed and should now be tradable … but the recipe still can’t searched for on the tp

I’ve read the topic, did you? I know perfectly well that OP is about the recipe but my post was a reaction to someone who thought the actual crafted item needed fixing as well. Which seems not to be the case.

Ascended Armor Set (Light) + Flamekissed

Needing splitters to transmute looks from exotic to ascended gear = meh… Hope this is a bug. Or could it be related specifically to the light flamekissed armor skins, as ANet removed them from the gem shop? Maybe transmutation of these skins was blocked on purpose, as applied skins might be easier to replace with a new design than items that are considered “transmuted”. Dunno, just a thought.

I know for a fact that transmuting exotic weapon looks to ascended weapons ain’t a problem, no splitters needed there (got a fractal longbow with ascended stats). Would expect the same for armor.

Fixed a bug that prevented the Shadow of Grenth back-slot item from being account bound as intended.

Why can't we do events together?

Paradox.5498

A once a year event that is unranked and awards relatively little is very little cause to force balance over the spirit of a multiplayer game. And don’t act like this is something that obviously has to happen. The fact is these events are supposed to be fun little things where the rewards are the meta achievements and the things you can spend the items from the gifts on. Everyone has the opportunity to group up or go into something solo, and you get a reward either way, so killing the point of having guilds and groups is a stupid decision. Sorry, but there is no arguing that.

You’re right ofcourse. Once a year fun little things are exactly what these mini games are. And that’s probably exactly why ANet didn’t invest tonnes of time to make an option to allow joining as a team and still keep the game balanced and fun for your opponents.
