Project X: Northern Shiverpeaks :-)
Great idea, pitty guesting doesn’t allow getting to US servers from EU or I’d come party!
So, I see bigtime.7410 soloing some event boss and I decide I want some reward as well (or get my daily/monthly number of events done), so I start nuking the boss and he goes down fast. Then bigtime gets angry, because he didn’t need help and wanted a higher reward for doing the event alone. Next he reports me for griefing… Right? I can see how a system like that escalates quickly. If you’re so egocentric, go play some single player game.
Same “complaint”, would be so much more useful if there was an option to “pin” the daily panel so it wouldn’t collapse.
If you spent fractal relics on 20 slot uncommon / rare / exotic gear boxes, there’s your explanation: they store uncommon / rare / exotic gear in their 20 slots first and don’t compact. Same with invisible containers and other specialized bags. Working as intended I guess.
I’m very curious about the profession gear thingies for 5 laurels. Random rares or exotics. Are they profession-unique skins? Or are they just existing skins of the armour class your profession can wear? That question will probably be answered by others before I get 5 laurels together. In the first case, I guess I’ll spend my first 5 laurels on Necromancer gear.
There are other players having the same problem. There’s an official post somewhere stating it’s probably your system clock indicating the wrong day, so the daily achievement UI shows the objectives of another day while you actually gotta do something else to get the daily done.
So do i suppose to get my shards for my legendary from these boxes or do i get them the old fashioned way?
If you need them, get em directly from karma vendor.
Or with fractal relics, if you do a lot of fractals and dunno what to spend the relics on.
I find the boxes very useful. I spent about 250K karma on them and got a load of lodestones, 2 minis, about 20 obsidian shards, about 1 gold worth of vendor trash and consumables for HEAPS of karma. The latter of which are account bound and can be used to indirectly transfer a substantial percentage of your karma of 1 character to another! My ranger had no use for her karma but some other characters could still use some more.
I love the boxes and hope they wont get removed or nerfed.
Ok thanx for the info! That means the cross-order-transmute might still work!
The preview thing was in notes
Ah yeah I see now, missed it. Thnx.
Many items have been changed or fixed. For instance, at least some mystic forge weapons got new (unique) icons (like the axe Titans’ Vengeance, old icon was a plain generic axe while the new icon shows the lava-ish axe it actually is), the formerly bugged transmute of flame eye (and probably the other elementalist starter head pieces as well) work fine now and corrupted shortbow got a completely new skin.
Preview works again for armour you can’t equip (and works better than it used to do tbh).

You can’t consider it low when you can craft a full exotic set and weapons in less than 15 minutes.
You can if you know that ascended gear is supposed to be somewhere between exotic and legendary. Because the amount of time needed to get 1 item is exactly that.
Dont know about armors, but it is still working with named exotic weapons. I transmutated my Stygian Blade with white item with Fine transmutation stone, and it is account bound and sitting in bank, waiting for my warrior to reach 80 lvl. So It is still working. It is good way for anet to selling fine transmutation stones, since u need 2 per item with that. Cheers
Stygian blade is a mystic forge sword, right? Beats me why you would transmute it to get it to another character, as it’s not soulbound in the first place, or did you use it and then decided you’d transfer it to another toon? Did you transmute it before the patch or after? Did the white item get exotic after the transmute or is it still white?
You’re welcome! I haven’t read any confirmation so far that it is indeed impossible to do now though. That would need some experimenting I guess.
According to the latest patch notes, new waypoints were added to these zones. You probably need to get them for world completion. Shouldnt be hard if you got the rest of these areas done! Guildy of mine told me they show up on your map after entering the zone.
The question I have is this, if I finished my monthly today, then I would receive the laurel rewards correct?
Not correct, february will be the first month rewarding laurels for the monthly achievement. January still rewards the old way.
I don’t see the problem, most ppl will get their daily done while doing different stuff (like fractals for instance). The whole daily / monthly shizzle is a bonus, no more and no less. Quit whining about it. Don’t spend the laurels on rings if you have the idea that doing fractals is an easier way to get them. Simple.
I have read some posts ( don’t remember where or when ) which imply you can get different Order’s Armor by purchasing them on a different toon, putting them in the bank and then using trasmutation stones for other toon.
Can somebody please confirm that it indeed works (especially after flame & frost ) and explain how to exactly do it ?
Thx
I haven’t tried with the current patch but the mechanism behind this should no longer work unfortunately. Here is how it was done:
On character 1 (who has joined the order that has the gear you want to use on character 2), buy the gear.
Use a transmutation stone to transmute the looks of the order gear to a cheap, white or blue item. (Although the item said it was soulbound, it was really not the case). Put the transmuted item in the bank.
Switch to character 2, pick up the item and transmute its skin to an item with the desired stats.
The reason why it should no longer work is this: since last night’s patch, on transmute the resulting item takes over the highest “quality / rarity” of the 2 items used. Since the trick only worked because white and blue items didnt get soulbound but rather accountbound, you’re out of luck now, as order gear is yellow quality (“rare”) and any transmute will make the new item rare or better (and therefore, soulbound to that character).
Tried to find anything living-story-related last night after the patch went live and couldn’t. Confused… Tried Diesa, Wayfearer, Black Citadel and Hoelbrak. Nothing that wasn;t there earlier, except the laurel merchants in the cities. And loads of ppl trying to get the first laurel off dailies.
Guildy spamming every field he got with his guardian, me (ranger) trying to get the daily done… took ages, guess we killed over 100 mobs before I got the 10 stupid combo kills. Even when a large group of mobs was entirely inside the field and I threw axes at them all, I would only get like +1 on the counter max. When I had 7/10, everyone on the server DC’d and relogged to see that we had been rolled back 15 mins. And I could start again with 3/10 combo kills. Never expected the new dailies to be extremely frustrating but… this one is. The other ones are okay, even crafting 10 useless items doesnt bother me.
This problem is fixed now (for flame eye). Just saw it in game.
Confirmed! Finally fixed, yay!
I’m having the same error with the artificing recipes for the “Corrupted” weapons (staff, focus, scepter & trident). I bought them on a lvl80 character after finishing Jormag’s Claw, then banked them to learn them on another character. That other character is lvl60-ish and has artificing skill 120 now, so still a long way to go before I can craft these items, but even though I never learnt these recipes (on any character) double-clicking the recipe says I can’t learn them because I already did. If being level 80 is a prerequisite to learning the recipe, or if having skill400 is, please say so when I double click the recipe. Don’t show some unrelated error, because it doesn’t help us solving the problem.
The easiest are the 3 in Lion’s Arch. Just run/jump in with each toon you have. At 5 slots that’s already 15 easy ones. Repeat tomorrow and you’re ready.
Or repeat on any overflow today and you’re ready.
According to WIKI the recipes for mystic chests no longer works but searching the news forums found nothing about mystic chests. Can anyone confirm this?
The wiki page says at the bottom:
As of September 24, 2012, the recipe to create Mystic Chests has been deactivated. The official post from ArenaNet can be found here
So yeah, there has been an official post about it.
When you start regarding RL as “only AFK, brb!”.
Even if you never played GW1, you can still go to the HoM. Nice to take a look although there’s nothing to do there. You just need the stone, which you can get at an NPC in Lion’s Arch. I think the NPC was located in or near the cave with all the pirates, in the northwestern part of the LA map.
The spider boss, Gargantula, is supposed to go invulnerable, spawn a lot of baby spiders and heal up. It’s part of the boss mechanic. It happens 4 times I think and if I’m not mistaken, killing the baby spiders fast is key to not letting her heal up all the way.
Yeah, pitty. My lvl80 guardian is still using the shoulder skin with the glowing guardian-symbol but I couldn’t see the unique-looking flame eye on my elementalist after lvl5 and it’s been sitting in the bank for months now. It has been reported over and over again by a gazillion people ever since game launch and I can totally see how this is not priority number one for the debugging team, but it’s probably an easy fix as well.
As the title says, my swap weapon button sometimes gets greyed out and it can’t be used. I have to go in to the hero panel and manually click the swap weapon button in there to fix it.
Not sure how or when it happends, but I tend to notice it when I want to swap weapons mid battle. it can be very annoying. Anyone else have this problem?
Weapon swap while in combat has a 10s cooldown, could that what prevents you from swapping?
Ok, so I just did the same trick with the elementalist starter headgear…it became account bound, not sould bound.
Transferring a skin to a white or blue, non-bound item always was the key to transmuting starting gear to another character’s gear. It never worked if you directly transmuted to a green, yellow or orange item. Just do the final transmutation to the exotic item on the character on which you want to use the skin. So the full process takes 2 transmutation stones.
If anything could be qualified as being a bug, it would be that it is at all possible to transfer skins from starting gear or order gear to another character / someone not in that order. I think it was never intended that this is possible at all.
If you want to try if you can still fix your skin in the current situation, you’re stuck with sacrificing the exotic on which you put the skin, and using more transmutation stones. First transmute the skin to a low-level white staff. Put that staff in the bank. Log to your other character. Pick up the staff (should be able to, even if it says it’s soulbound). Then transmute the skin to an exotic with the desired stats.
6 runs in a row without CoF getting contested? Never happens on my server…
Daily can only be done once per account per day, but all your characters can contribute. For instance, kill 2 types of enemies on one character and 13 on another and you got the 15 mob types for the daily done.
Not sure why your daily doesn’t reset though… It should!
There are several posts on this issue, but I can’t seem to find them. (Things disappear pretty quickly.) It’s a known bug, the next content update is scheduled for the end of January. and will hopefully fix this up.
There’s a pretty long merged thread about it here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Moorwatch-Tower-Vista-Bug-Merged/page/6#post908424
There already are Risen Quaggans (risen) and Corrupted Quaggans (icebrood). But no Destroyer Quaggans (no Branded Quaggans either for that matter), as far as I can see! They would kick kitten!
Thanks for answering! Couldn’t find the answer.
Will january’s monthly achievement already provide us with the first few laurels? What if we already finished the monthly, will we still get the laurels?
No big fuzz, just curious! Looking forward to all the changes and the story unrolling. Can’t wait!
Instead of working on a legendary staff for my Charr necromancer, I’m working on getting all the needed ingredients together for The Crossing, the Halloween craftable staff skin. Some professions simply don’t look good with the current legendaries. I prefer rare exotics over most legendaries any time.
If, like me, you’re using a 32bit version of Windows you might wanna try the 3GB switch (enough info about it when you use Google). Before I started using it, I had crashes every 3rd or 4th time I changed zone, when changing characters, when in busy towns (Lion’s Arch during Halloween!) or when near large zergs in WvW. For some reason the maximum of 2GB address space available for GW2 normally on a 32b Windows is just not enough and makes the game crash, often. Allowing user mode applications to use more resources helps for me.
I refuse to believe he’s dead until I get to fight a Risen Tybalt. Which would be awesomecookies, and painful. Noone ever saw his corpse, right?
Arenanet doesn’t force you to do world completion, that’s your choice. How’s that against their promise?
Server transfers should only be free for new accounts, for a short while (like 2 weeks). A grace period to allow new players to decide if they made the right server choice. After that, make up your mind. Don’t abuse server transfers to get on the winning side of WvW, you can’t win all the time.
Same here, hovering over zone names often shows no or wrong zone completion information. Hovering over the name of Divinity’s Reach never tells me how complete that city is but sometimes I get to see Divinity’s Reach’s completion by hovering over the name of Metrica Province.
After my 4,000th visit to Lion’s Arch, I do not need to see the “You’ are in the Overflow” prompt everytime I join. Instead, just make the word “Overflow” on the minimap bold and yellow or something — the modal popup window is a nuisance.
My favorite part is when you go to reply to someone as soon as you load into LA, and only about 10 characters come up randomly before you start jumping and opening all your ui options ect…
THAT! I hate the overflow popup with a passion, exactly because it intrudes on what you’ve started doing after logging on. If you HAVE to have an overflow pop-up, at least make it disappear after 2 seconds, non-intrusive (e.a. don’t focus on it or take the focus away from any other interface element you’re using) and generally less annoying. Preferably, don’t do a pop-up at all, instead use the loading screen to announce you’ll be on overflow or something.
If you choose to fight your way through Orr instead of outrunning a gazillion mobs, remember to keep pushing forward so that you only aggro the mobs in front of you, not the respawning ones behind you. This means you won’t have a break until you’re on a really safe spot. Keep moving, keep fighting and you’ll live.
Use the deposit function at the bottom right of the bank screen.
One time reward =/= one time event. Reward becomes available tomorrow, doesn’t mean you can’t get it after that day. The “one time” part probably refers to getting the reward only once, however often you do the event. Like the toy frames.
Never seen one of these elusive boxes drop and never heard anyone else did either.
I’ve got the same problems here; the game crashing to desktop when changing zone. It always happens after playing for a longer time in different zones, so before entering any dungeon I completely restart GW2 to prevent possible crashes during the dungeon. That workaround works well for me, except for Fractals which sometimes crashes on me no matter if it’s the first thing I do after starting to play.
For some reason, it seems to help to alt-tab every now and then and wait for windows to write a swap file. I alt-tab back to GW2 when I no longer hear read/write actions made by the harddisk. Doing this seems to allow me to play longer without crashes.
My system’s a Core2Duo with 3GB of memory and Vista 32bits.
But you can by your professions training manuals as you progress in lvls. Each time you use on, it resets all your points to distribute as you see fit.
(at lvls 11,40 and 60).

Those manuals reset your trait points, not the skills bough with skill points.
