Being invulnerable to anything but mines is just stupid – is Canach Achilles or something?

Even worse… he’s only vulnerable to DISARMED mines. The whole fight makes no sense. But it’s kinda fun and kitten easy once you get to know the mechanics. Just make sure you disarm the mines near the entrance to the room before you walk in and you’ll be able to chain lure him into mines during pretty much the whole fight, apart from the moment that he disarms or triggers all the mines in the instance, in which case you gotta go to a place without mines and wait until you can disarm them again.

Crate drop rate nerfed?

Any idea how long it takes for DR to fully wear off once it’s kicked in? Farmed SC skelk for crates a couple of nights ago until I only looted greys, blues and the occasional crafting mats but no more rares or greens. Since that, I’ve done fractals, world events, some dungeons, stood idle in LA, did jumping puzzles and daily completions and even completed an entire zone on this character. Last night I went back to SC to kill skelk again. One of the first skelk yielded a rare sword, then DR seemed to knock my teeth out again… Looted almost a full stack of dark stained claws (grey items) in the hours following but not a single crate. That’s with 300% magic find. A guy farming the same area looted 11 crates in the same time… Is it possible I still suffered from (some or all of) the DR from the time before?

Comparing a single player / coop platform game with a PvP activity… can’t see how that’s useful. If you don’t like PvP you’ll never like crab toss. If PvP is all you ever wanna do, you’ll never like SAB. /thread really.

I agree it would be a lot more fun if one could chose a side they want to support. Supporting Molten Alliance or the dragons would be great, not everyone wants to be a hero.

I would love to have the possibility of my Sylvari joining the Nightmare Court or my Norn to joining the Sons of Svanir. It would make the living world far more interesting if we didn;t have to stick to what the story writers deem right.

Not even just that. The back item disappears as well while throwing an axe.

Sure, why wouldn’t you be able to do that? You’ll need the L80 transmute item (forgot the new name, was used to be called Fine Transmutation Stone but someone decided it had to be renamed for some reason). Pick the icon of the Sclerite Karka Shell and the stats of the fractal back. You’ll end up with an item with the looks and name of the karka back and the stats of the fractal back.

Are you talking about wvw? Cause in wvw player’s don’t drop loot where they fall, instead the loot is automatically teleported to where you are when they die, otherwise it wouldn’t be practical to go loot enemies when you are defending a castle from the walls. You just need to hit the loot key as soon as you see exp pop up on your screen.

Same seems to happen in the open world now. At least on the Karka island. Got several loot bags last night after the patch went live. Not too fond of them because they’re indeed hard to see sometimes.

2500 hours, seriously? That’s 73 hours per week, that’s almost twice as much time as ppl who have a full time job. I’d hate my job if I had to spend that much time doing it, without any holidays (!) How can you expect a game to still surprise you or offer new content if you spend that much time in it? I truly believe it would be healthy if you’d get another hobby beside gaming.

I don’t mind that the Molten Facility is only temporary.
What I don’t like, though, is how we’ve been teased for 4 months with tiny bits of content offering 1 or 2 hours of play time after each patch, without any replay value, and those tiny tidbits stayed for a full month.

Now we’ve finally gotten something that lasts longer, keeps a lot of people busy every day, and it’s gonna be removed after only13 days.

I totally wish it was the other way around (previous installments lasting 2 weeks, this one a month). It feels like it gotta be rushed to an end now, to get it out of the way. I can’t blame the players who start feeling the same about that: Move along, nothing to see here.

Being under attack while mining sometimes ruins the ore. Same with logging and gathering herbs. Been like that from the start and has nothing to do with the kind of gathering tool you use.

Back braces don’t have a game model, so you’ll never see them unless you transmute a visible skin onto them. If you want a visible skin, get one of the books or quivers, quaggan / charr backpack skins, fractal capacitor, jetpack… but not a back brace.

Dredge Fractal - TOO LONG!!

I’m hoping for this fractal to get a bit of redesign love to be honest. It shouldn’t take an hour to finish it but it still takes annoyingly long at level 40 (highest level I’ve tried it, my personal reward level is 39 atm). Amazingly, Arenanet has given this fractal some “love” several times, only resulting in the fact that this fractal is practically hated with a passion by pretty much everyone and people I play with tend to reset it when it’s the first fractal in the series and now even if it’s the second or third (!)

First the rush tactic of spamming spy kits was blocked, then the teleport gun shortcut. I can understand why these changes were made because they trivialized parts of the fractal. Although I hate to see how consumables that actually had a use are effectively broken until they’re nothing but gimmicks that take up spots in people’s inventory, pretty much like every other bloody consumable in game.
Now my guildies tell me that the bomb hallway has been stealth-“fixed” so mobs respawn much faster and they pick up the bombs you drop even faster than before. Arenanet doesn’t want us to waypoint zerg our way through content but at his point, that’s the only way we can do this part of the fractal, the only difference with the classic waypoint zerg being that the whole party has to die or get out of combat.
Also, apparently the Rabsovich encounter has been stealth-“fixed” so you can’t pull the mob packs out of the room anymore, making this encounter much more of a hassle (and less rewarding for at least 1 person, who kites the boss until the other mobs are dead and therefore doesn’t receive any mining bags).

Arenanet, please stop making annoying fights even more annoying. Why not make this fractal fun to play again!

A sudden assault or attack, as upon something to be seized or suppressed: a police raid on a gambling ring.

That’s what they mean. It’s not a 20+ players instance just because World of Kittencraft uses the term to describe that. Just like how some castles have dungeons that you can enter with a random group of tourists, instead of just 5.

Even WoW doesn’t exclusively use the term raid for instanced large-group content. The nightmare dragons, Doomlord Kazzak and Doomwalker for instance all definitely count(ed) as raid bosses while anyone could join in the encounter cause they were open-world bosses.

Biggest problem with rangers imho is the horrible pet AI. It’s probably the worst of its kind in any game released during the last 10 years. But still ranger’s a very fun profession to play (got a ranger, warrior, guardian and necro at 80 and all other professions at 40+ so I tried) and I prefer her over all my other characters when doing fractals, guild missions or dungeons.

Loreclaw Expanse bugged out for me too last night. Chest was already open when I got there, no mob to kill, pressure plate did nothing. I couldn’t complete the jumping puzzle which sucked because I tried to get my monthly done.

Yes, I have the shield skin on my engineer as well, and the swap from the kit triggers the full animation.

Kit swapping should count as weapon swap for the animation as it counts for other weapon swap stuff in game (such as on weapon swap sigils)

Ouch, that sucks. I’ve got that shield… on my engineer. I’ll never see the weapon swap animation on my own character, unfortunately. Wish the drawing out- animation also showed the sword dropping from the sky. Wonder if this difference is even intentional?

Edit: or does the swap from a kit (flamethrower for instance) to pistol/shield count as weapon swap as well, regarding this animation? Haven’t tested.

A pop-up warns you that the item will become soulbound before you apply an upgrade. At that point, you have a choice of backing out of the process or ignore the warning. You probably did the latter.

Master of baubles bug

I did “all baubles in zone 3” last week with 2 others and we all got the achievement. I don’t believe it’s bugged, I seriously think blindly following guides ain’t the best idea. It was quite a frustrating process for me as I suffered terrible lag which got me killed many times in the hollow tree near the end of the zone (sometimes my character stood on a jumping shroom for 5 secs before suddenly being high up in the air, didn’t make the thing easy) and despite running out of lifes and having to buy continue coins for baubles I still got the achievement, so that’s not blocking progress either.

Some tips:

Know where chests, shops (for keys, potions) and hidden rooms are.
Get all upgrades prior to the attempt. It does make life easier.
Baubles in chests seem to count, baubles in hidden rooms count, baubles carried by mobs don’t and the ones you gotta dig up don’t either.

When you’re in a party of 2 or more and you want to kill Queen Bee Dogs, have 1 party member spam the whip on the Queen while the rest just hits it with the stick. The whip keeps it stunned.

Looks like the perma-stun with the whip is not intended and will be removed at some point in the future. So don’t rely on it too much.

Awright, here’s another tip to defeat Queen Bee Dogs: bring a slingshot and a stash of baubles (for ammo). Stay at range, put the slingshot on auto-attack (ctrl + rightclick the attack button) and face the Queen. Step aside when she spews bees. This takes her down in like 15 seconds, solo.

With the Candle, if you use it then immediately Jump, you can burn Plants above you (IE, in Zone 3 checkpoint covered by plants). This helps for getting the Minor in Elusion achievement.

Many achievements, including this one, are much easier to get if you run through the zone on infant mode. On this particular spot, infant mode will just provide a rainbow that ends right before the threshold of sticky plants. From there you can torch it without any jumping around.

I too am disappointed that the mystery chests disappeared after only a day or two. I went through the jp in Rata Sum just for kicks and giggles solo…taking the infant road.

Unfortunately, I just am not into fighting a bugged setup…so I left when at the end of the run, the cage seemed to be permanently locked.

If there were alternative ways to pick up those baubles, I would not have any issues, but with the chests gone now, I have no alternatives since I dislike those “mario brothers” types of jps.

Cages aren’t bugged, you just need to destroy them (= hit them until they break compeltely, have a health bar) before you can grab the baubles and bauble bubbles. And the infant road doesn’t give bauble bubbles anyway if I’m not mistaken.

To all who complain about the open world chests being gone: next time, read your in-game mail. It clearly stated the open world chests would be there just for 1 day.

Its nice nerfing a mechanic that can be abused in group, but what about all players that play solo?

Without a Whip, Bee Queen simply becomes obsolete – since risk of fighting her is not worth the reward.

Take the right weapon to a fight. If you solo Queen Bee Dogs, whipping takes forever (whip once, hit once or twice, rinse repeat). Queen Bees are really easy to solo if you bring a slingshot and a stash of baubles (for ammo) though. Stay at range, slingshot on auto-attack, step aside when Queen spews bees. This takes her down in like 15 seconds.

I got the achievement last night together with 2 party members. We got the achievement after killing the boss. Even if he doesn’t give any baubles, you still need to kill him to get the achievement.

If you’ve taken the shortcut wurm, you gotta walk back a bit: turn left, pass the last waypoint, jump over the black water stuff and keep following the left wall. There’s a couple of lily pads you use to get across the green stuff and then the shop keeper is on your left. If you don’t take the shortcut wurm, the shop keeper is at your right when you approach the first poison water stuff. The shop keeper makes a remark about something being wrong with the water, then disappears. Inside the shop pick up the candle from the counter for free.

We have spent time doing it (by “We” I mean all the salvagers through the Tyria ), we have spent money doing it.

Devs have warned you a couple of months ago that this would happen, at the time when it was announced that people would get rewarded in some way for the number of achievement points they have. “Don’t boost your achievement points through endlessly repeatable achievements because you’re only wasting your time and money.” I don’t know why anyone would whine about it now.

Have you killed Behemoth on a character lower than lvl40 by any chance?

We’ve limited rares in mega boss chests to require the player be level 40+ to receive them. This is to keep acquiring rares consistent throughout the game; this will also help close up an exploit with newly created characters. This was accidently left out of the original update notes.

I’ve seen no exit buttons on most of the parts of the living story instances either and although it’s a bit confusing, it doesn’t block the story’s progress. You can do what you need to do in the instance (listen in on the conversation, talk to NPCs) and then just leave by relogging or taking a waypoint outside the instance. In one of the instances (Blood Tribune place) I tried whether I could exit by standing close to the door and pressing “F” and although there was no visual clue that would work, it still did. So probably more of a UI issue than anything else.

No replay needed, just go to the next part of the story.

if you go to controls you can bind a button to take high quality/stereoscopic screenshot that automatically hides the UI while taking the screenshot without you having to manually do so.

Wasn’t that function removed after the betas? I couldn’t find it anymore when I searched for it a while ago.

Why should they warn you? When you bought this game you agreed to their rules. Yet you went against that and broke them any ways. You broke the rules knowingly, thus you don’t deserve a warning. You get punished directly for breaking the rules you agreed to when you first started playing the game.

Swearing’s a pretty minor offense, and you shouldn’t get temp banned on the first violation. Just a warning. If it were something more serious, like botting or exploiting, sure, ban away without a warning and let the appeals process sort them out.

A 72hr ban IS just a warning imo. If it were something more serious, you wouldn’t get warned but perm banned.

Clarification of Jumping Puzzle "policy"

Don’t take me wrong here, I agree that putting vistas and skill challenges in jumping puzzles ain’t the best idea ever. And I understand how they’re not doable for someone with a condition like yours. It sucks.

But I sincerely wonder why you feel you need to complete these activities to fully enjoy the game. Because the only thing that actually requires them to do, is craft a legendary and honestly, that IS optional and not for everyone (it requires more investment of time and in-game resources than many completely healthy players can spend).

A workaround, if you don’t want to give up crafting a legendary in the end, might be asking a sibling / friend / etc to do the jumping puzzles needed for world completion?

Imho Mallet the Mad would be a more fitting name for a berserker warrior than for a mesmer but I still like the name, 7/10.

I think I’m gonna do this so I can have a set of each of the starter Engi goggles. I had such a hard time choosing at char creation.

And I’m gonna send some goggles to my Ranger too.
And my Thief.

Got the thief hoody on a ranger myself, and both goggle and backpack on my engineer. And as you say, necro eyes on my mesmer. Elementalist’s glowy “[element] eye” on necro or mesmer should work as well.

Scythe?

That’s the scythe staff skin that dropped off chests during Halloween. Search for “scythe” on the trade post and I think it pops up. Don’t be surprised if you gotta pay near 100G to get one though, it was a really rare drop.
And there’s Final Rest, the exotic staff dropping from Shadow Behemoth’s chest. On TP for about 20G atm. It looks like a staff with a gargoyle sitting on top, one wing spread out like a scythe blade and the other one almost folded.

By the way, I have never used a transmut stone before… Is there a special order to respect in order to have the tool kit skin going on the Wintersday item and not the other way around ?

Sorry, probably didn’t read your question in time so I hope you managed alright, but here’s the process:

Put both items in a bag, so unequip!
Open inventory screen, drag it to the side of the screen.
Double click a transmute stone to open the interface, drag the interface to the other side of the screen
From your inventory, drag the engineer’s backpack to one of the slots in the transmute UI
From your inventory, drag the white back item to the other slot in the transmute UI
Now you gotta select which item’s looks and which item’s stats you want, so you click the icon of the engineer’s backpack and the stats of the toymaker’s bag.
At the bottom of the UI you’ll see a button light up that indicates that the transmutation is good-to-go, press it to do the transmute.

The new item (with the name and looks of the engineer’s back item and the stats of the toymaker’s bag) might say it’s soulbound but it’s really not. You can put it in a bank slot, switch to the character where you want to use it and equip it.

There arent white backs afaik so you cant transmute it.

The transmute trick should still work, but you gotta realize that it only works if you transmute the back item to another unbound back item with low quality and low or no level requirement. I thin currently there are only two items that can be used to transfer a soulbound back skin to another character: One is the back item delivered with the Quaggan backpack (called Leather Strap), the other is the Wintersday back item (Toymaker’s Bag I think it was called). If you happen to have one of these items, put it in the bank with a transmute stone, make a new engineer, choose the multitool back item, pick up transmute stone and Toymaker’s Bag / Leather Strap and transmute the skin. It might say it’s soulbound but in fact it should be account bound so you can put it in the bank and pick it up with your engineer, then transmute it to a back item with good stats.

Crafting some low level “embroidered jute insignias” with random pretext with your armoursmithing will do. They can be crafted at skill 50.
