Karma gear has become so easy to get now with the daily and monthly raining karma jugs all over you. Collect them during a month, quaff a karma booster and then all the jugs and you get 337500 karma in one month, not even counting all the karma you get off the 5 daily events during those 30-ish game days.
337500 karma is more than enough for a full temple set. And it won’t cost you 1 copper.
Anyway, there are many ways to get exotic armor sets: dungeon gear, karma gear from dailies/monthlies, buy gear off TP (go gold farming or play the TP), be lucky with drops or craft them yourself. But you got to invest some way or another. You just pick the method you like most or mix and mash, nobody dictates that all armor parts are of 1 set.

I agree. 120G for a full set of rare armor (you’re probably wearing full exotic karma gear long before you ever get 120G together) is bad enough, having to get 6 fine transmutation stones to transfer the skin to your exotics makes it even worse.
Maybe I’m being unreasonable…
But when the game engine tells me “This content has been disabled… Please try again later”. I shouldn’t have to come to a forum, wade through 5 pages and then find out that it works if you stand around the side?
Might be just me though
The disabled content’s nothing to do with the vista unfortunately. But even if you know that, you can’t get to the vista on Piken Square.
Also pls implement a timer on events, so that if they start but don’t show progress for a certain amount of time (for instance 1 hour), they automatically reset.
It seems it only accepts upgrades that require no minimum level.
I’ve been in Diessa Plat for over 4 hour tonight and the harpy event didn’t occur once. As said before, I’m on Piken Square (EU). People are near the cattlepult almost constantly but noone can interact with it in any way.
The event wont start, please any fix re this matter let us know. thanks!
I’ve done this vista on 2 characters since launch without a pain but last night I went there to do it with yet another character and just couldn’t. There was no way to interact with the machine at all and although I waited there for over an hour, no event started either. Seems you were right and something IS bugged.
I’m playing on Piken Square (EU).
Not working either, doesn’t prompt interact on the catplt.
As far as I know, you can only do this cattlepult / vista thing right after an event in which you have to protect the NPC and cows from harpy attacks while the NPC test fires the cattlepult a couple of times. After the event, you can interact with the machine.
Interact with the cattlepult, not the NPC.
In all seriousness and without intention to troll, why would anyone care what class does most dps? GW2 is not as much a pissing contest as other MMOs out there. As long as you choose a build of your liking and choose gear stats and a play style that match the build, you’re viable.
lvl80 exotic crafted light armor is called Exalted
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exalted_armor
On that page you see a table in which you see what prefix of armor gives what bonus stat. For magic find that’s Explorer’s. For Explorer’s items, you need Explorer’s Intricate Gossamer Insignias the recipe of which you buy at the crafting trainer.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorer%27s_Intricate_Gossamer_Insignia
Combine the insignia with the parts that form the item you want (typically panel and lining) in the discovery tab of a crafting station and there’s your crafted exotic with magic find.
TL;DR: Exactly the same mechanism that got yer crafting skill to 400.
Yes I read your whole post, but read it as two seperate issues – hence the reason I only quoted back the first part. You are right, they should finish the instance first. I apologise to the OP if she did miss out on this, but as her friend is on a different server after all, hopefully she will have stuck around and completed that first bit.
Ah, no… one issue :P
I think he meant don’t leave the very first part after character creation but before completing that first part to get to the starter area. I didn’t know you could go to the mists in the starter story. If do that, does it glitch your personal story?
Haven’t tried it recently but yes, last time I tried I could go to HotM right after character creation and had to delete the character because I did want to do my personal story and couldn’t.
I would not advice going to the Heart of the Mists at level 1!
Why on earth not? It’s only to use it as an asura gate junction to LA, you literally have to run 10 feet (past the trainer) to get into the LA gate directly opposite. You don’t go near any combat or anything – perfectly safe. And you are scaled up to level 80 for the milli-seconds you are there anyway.
Did you read my whole post? At level 80 you’re gonna regret that you’ll NEVER be able to finish the first ever part of your personal story, because it’s instanced and you can’t return to it. And without the first part done, there’s no way you’ll ever do the rest.
Nothing to do with safety. But as far as I’ve seen, there’s no mechanism that prevents you from going to HotM right after creating your character. I wouldn’t do that, is all I’m saying.
I would not advice going to the Heart of the Mists at level 1! Always make sure you’ve finished the introducing tutorial (e.g. get to level 2) or you’ll never be able to do your personal story!
Nop, it doesn’t. As I said, I tried but you cannot put Ascalonian Tears into the Mystic Forge so it’s impossible to get recipe from Mystic Forge
As I said, the materials needed in the mystic forge to GET the recipe are usually different from the materials needed to CRAFT the recipe.
I’m somewhere between A and B. I can play quite often, I love the fractals so far, but I also level a load of alts so my main character ain’t geared fully exotic yet (although close).
Where can I charm a juvenile Land Shark?
Some older recipes (like the boxes of armor) need unlocking as well and are learned by putting the right combination of stuff in the mystic forge. The result of that forging is a recipe that can be learned. You can then produce the item, which usually requires other ingredients than the learning process.
My guess is that how it works with the new recipes as well.
important to know that all upgrades you put in any gear bought with karma are lost forever.
Not entirely true, you can still use a transmutation stone to move an upgrade from your karma gear to another item!
“Yes” to all of the questions. You can see all the fractals without ascended gear, as long as you choose to stick with lower fractal levels, so that tier of gear IS indeed as optional as claimed beforehand.
There aren’t any exotics (even the very rare, expensive or hard-to-get ones like Volcanus) that are way stronger than other exotics. There aren’t (and as far as we know there won’t be) any ascended items that are way stronger than other ascended items. So yeah, Anet did what they promised.
You just can’t expect there will never be gear better than what we have now. Noone sticks around if a year from now, we are still wearing all our current gear. Because people want SOME progression. So stop all the complaining and go play.
Relogging won’t solve this, the item just has the wrong icon linked to it. It has been like that (and reported) for these Swindler pants since release.
As Zedrix says, that staff is called Deathwish and is an exotic produced by the mystic forge. When combining 4 level 75-80-ish rare and/or exotic staffs you have a small chance to get this staff. Alternatively, you can buy one on TP, where it’s usually priced 6-10 G.
Some jumping puzzle do have checkpoints though. The Asuran lab in Caledonian Forest and the puzzle with the portals in Metrica Province come to mind.
I agree however that most puzzles are much more of a challenge because they don’t have checkpoints.
Or just do daily and monthly achievements for karma jugs, use them with karma boosters and you get enough karma to get at least 2 temple exotics a month. Hardest part will be to get to uncontested temples.
Okay, this is getting ridiculous, I’ve been waiting for at least a week or maybe more to get this one little vista, it’s all I need to 100% the world.
It’s the one in Askalion Hills, you can ONLY get to it if you own the place, which never actually happens because our world is doing awful and has been doing so since it started.
Now, I can’t exactly try and solo this place or break down a wall myself, so what am I meant to do?
It’s pathetic, I’m trying to 100% Tyria and all of its PVE content, not the Mists and its PVP content!
Please, I just want to 100% the world, it’s so pathetic!
I know it’s sad but the only workaround atm is to switch worlds for that one silly vista and back to your own server next week. That, or keep hoping your server will EVER own that part of the map. :-(
But I guess you’re the type of person rejecting people for AC story mode if they’re not lvl80 too.
The assumption you are making is based on no solid ground. You sound like a 9 year old when bringing people’s personal opinions into discussion even without knowing what they really are.
In a discussion, if you want to stand your point, you back it up with solid evidence or your personal view on the subject and I see you fail on that.
If all the party is equipped with just blue gear, you will either fail badly or if you are so skilled to press 7-8 buttons in order, it will just take too long. In another topic I suggested people to test it with doing AC exp with 5 lv35 guys and then doing the same route with 5 lv80s. Then decide if it depends on gear or not. I did and I am sharing my experience with you. With lv35s, it takes about 1.5-2 hours to finish AC path 2, that is if you can finish. With lv80s it takes about half an hour. The best time I had was 21 mins. So it absolutely depends.
Out of topic; I did NEVER reject someone because they are low level and I will NEVER do so. But I have the freedom to choose the guys I want to party with and I do so!
The only assumptions I made were based on your haughty, arrogant “So I have to endure 4 people running a dungeon, having full traveler’s set? I don’t think so.” How that makes ME sound like a 9yo eludes me.
On some servers people are already having a hard time finding a PUG that takes characters below lvl80, having them rejected because gear inspection allows them to be burned alive by people who only care about 20mins token runs doesn’t improve that situation at all.
You do have a point however when you say that you have the freedom to choose who to do dungeons with, so to answer your own question: no, you don’t “have to endure” (oh the suffering) 4 people having whatever disadvantage. You just can’t inspect them.
And based on experience with games like WoW, that’s for the better.
I dont do pvp.
Of course the game has to have some PvP achievements, for those people who play PvP. Why is this something to lament?
Because it seems more and more the case that even people who don’t choose to play their game in a competitive way feel entitled to every possible achievement in the game.
I don’t do sPvP either and I think it’s perfectly normal that it means I don’t get every possible achievement. But I’ve noticed so many players think different.
Just common courtesy.
This. Not a bug imho, just courtesy.
So I have to endure 4 people running a dungeon, having full traveler’s set? I don’t think so.
Yes. Why? Because dungeons can be done without much pain in blue gear, they aren’t that hard. And the difference between blue and exotic gear isn’t so big that it makes up for lack of skill, which doesn’t show at inspection.
But I guess you’re the type of person rejecting people for AC story mode if they’re not lvl80 too.
There are a few PoI’s you can only get in your personal story (Claw Island and Fort Trinity come to mind). Do you have those?
Simple work-around: just start liking names like “Juvenile Brown Bear”. I honestly doubt this will ever get fixed. Not after being reported over and over again during and after betas. Such an obvious and annoying flaw.
Did you guys even read the first post? It’s a guild for just him and a couple of friends, those friends don’t play much so no reason to represent it all the time. I can perfectly see why he doesn’t want to leave his guild altogether (guild bank probably, still do guild activities with those friends on the rare occasion they DO play).
Now those friends, as he says, barely play so they don’t really have a voice in this matter, do they? It’s little use to ask them if they’re okay with not rpresenting his own guild most of the time, because if they don’t play, why would they care?
So what it all comes down to is that the SECOND guild has to know there is a personal guild that will be represented on rare occasions only. If that second guild is okay with that, there’s no problem at all.
How my logic says there’s no need for guilds completely eludes me. I just say that there’s no need to dedicate your entire life to one guild (unlike some other games out there) as long as the guild you’re usually active in agrees with you.
By the way, I’m in a similar situation. I made a 2-man guild together with a co-worker who hasn’t played for weeks. I recently joined a second guild. That second guild knows that in rare occasions, I might not represent them but represent my own guild together with that co-worker and they’re okay with that. Nobody cares. Case closed.
I think I read there’d be 200 new crafting recipes this coming patch, so what gives you the idea crafting stays behind on the ascended gear?
I had the same thing once, I could fix it by sheathing the weapon. Amusing indeed! I never found out what went wrong, couldn’t reproduce the effect later.
It’s sad to say but practically EVERYTHING is reset when zoning. Transformations, summoned pets, mini’s… everything temporary seems to disappear when zoning.
100 copper equals one silver. Your 90+ copper probably turned into a silver + additional 55 copper.
Wow, thanks! I didn’t know!
And 100 silver equals 1 gold, just so you’re prepared
Just speaking from my experience in other MMOs, my answer would be no. Sharing time between guilds is just that – sharing. It means that neither gets 100% of your time or commitment. Commitment is the whole concept behind a guild – not commitment except for when a better PvP squad comes along or commitment except for when some people you would rather be playing with log on.
It’s fine to have non-guild friends you like to play with, but they always need to take a back seat to guild members. That can’t be reconciled when two guilds are in play.
You do show you’re mainly speaking from your experience with other MMOs. Particularly the ones where you had to farm for buff food, repair bills and the best-in-game gear upgrades all week to be allowed to join the weekly hardcore raids.
This game is different. Most guilds in GW2 are different. There’s no raids. There’s no gear threadmill, just a lot of whining about it lately.
Do what you like most, as long as the second guild you join is ok with it.
I know, I get to the mail and click take all but most of the time I lose money.
Ok… Doesn’t look like you do anything different than me then. And it always worked fine for me. Did you report this in-game? Just type /bug and make a bug report.
Sorry i’m a noob but I’m really mad at this issue I’m having. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn’t. After those heart missions you get to claim the gold as reward when I click take all, I lose money I don’t get money. I noticed only my karma goes up.
You have to claim the money reward from your mailbox (you get a mail after completion of a heart), not from the big medal shown on your screen.
You chose to focus on magic find and 1% when I clearly stated that it is a 7.9% increase. The explorer ring was used because it was the only one that has details released to the public.
You need reading comprehension skills before you argue about things you don’t know.
Nothing wrong with my reading comprehension. You however choose to not react to my statements that +5 power and +5 precision are wasted on anyone (the majority of ppl) without the best upgrades in every exotic slot. Or that anyone can get this gear equally easily. There’s no unfair advantage.
WvWvW on hardcore level is about 1% difference in stats? Stats like magic find? Seriously? Now I understand why WvWvW in GW2 sucks. It’s because of the min/maxers one-shotting everybody else with their magic find advantage. Oh no… it isn’t.
Do you have full exotic gear, fully upgraded with exotic upgrades? If not, you’re like 99% of the players. If you do, you have “an unfair advantage over the other players, which splits the playerbase and drives people (especially the casuals you seem to love so much) away.”
The (max 2) rings and 1 back item that’re gonna be implemented this patch do VERY little to give players advantage. Also, you can get them as well.
We’re talking about marginaly better stats than exotics. We’re talking about gear without upgrade slot.
All I wanna say is… Don’t overreact. Take a deep breath. Now go back to enjoying content instead of choking on marginally higher stats.
It is right now. BUT the article clearly states
As we release more new end game content in the future, you’ll see more Infusions and Ascended item types being added to the game. Eventually, you’ll be able to kit yourself out with a full set of Ascended gear and high end Infusions to help give you the edge in end game content.
So it’s not just a ring and a back item. It’s going to be a whole new tier of weapons and armor. The real worry is, is that is the just the start of a slippery slope of gear checking and treadmills
What does that change to the fact that everybody can get this gear? Or to the fact that most ppl dont get everything out of their gear at the moment anyway? Or that WvWvW, for that matter, isn’t about gear or skill at all but about running with the zerg, hoping your computer renders your enemies before theirs render you, AoE-spamming while keeping distance. Even full ascended armour isn’t gonna change that.

I dont know about your server but we have a group of well known commanders and its easy to tell who just bought their title and who actually earned the right to wear it.
People who think the “earned the right to wear” a commander title are usually the most arrogant, self-centred and narcistic people around. And let’s face it, EVERYBODY with this title bought it.
I gotta say (having a lvl80 ranger as main character) that I agree that there ain’t much wrong with the current rangers. Pet AI could be better, pet bugs should be fixed and yes, the obstruction/out of range bugs should be fixed but in the end no profession is currently as face-roll-easy to play as the ranger. Whether you farm Orr, do explorable dungeons, get WvWvW kills or whatever tickles yer fancy most, ranger’s pretty much easy mode.
I know it’s supposed to suit a dungeon theme and it does a great job at that! But, as you probably know, there’s ways to influence a flame’s colour in real life (for instance, put copper powder in a candle flame and it’ll burn green). I guess everybody has his or her own way to fuel a fire!
(By the way, if I want to paint my CoF pink and green it becomes pink and green, even though it then no longer suits the CoF dungeon theme!)
Imagine a necromancer in full CoF gear, with black smoke billowing out of it, or purple or green flames…
Imagine an air- or water-attuned elementalist with CoF gear with purple of blue flames…
Imagine a guardian in full CoF plate, with bright white flames.
Imagine an engineer, with brown or grey smoke.
I LOVE the CoF gear sets. In fact, CoF is the only dungeon of which I would love to have a full set of all three armor classes. They’re -excusez le mot- totally EPIC.
But the current orange fire effects don’t suit every class, at all. Imho, if we could apply dye to the particle effect these CoF-sets would be even more awesomecookies!
Where did Arenanet ever say they would never make a tier above exotic, or that exotic would last “until the next expansion or major game overhaul, not an upgrade that lasts barely 2 months before being replaced”??? Had Arenanet made ascended available 2 months ago, noone would’ve thought anything of it, but now that they intoduce it in a fun event you’re mad? Don’t be such a drama queen pls.
