Even if you never do PvP, you have a default set of PvP gear with runes in it. And by default, those runes are Superior Runes of the [yourprofession], in this case Ranger. In your hero screen, the runes in PvP-gear are counted even if they don’t give a bonus in PvE. Confusing? Yes indeed. Also a known issue since release, pity it hasn’t been addressed so far but if you know why this occurs you’ll probably be able to deal with it :P
Can anybody please tell me if the exotics you pick up from fractals are accountbound or not? That would be helpful, thank you.
Some were, some weren’t. Armor parts and some tribal weapons were account bound, but I also got some non-account-bound named weapons (Deathwish and Dragonspine).
I agree with every word of that. Really annoying. Harpies go invulnerable very often if I start shooting them from max range before someone gets in melee range. I’m a ranger with traited longbow range.
No matter what group I do at any level, if we pick up crystals for the final attack, some people are completely spared, while others get downed.
We can find no rhyme or reason to this.
It seems that you actually gotta get hit by the last blast of Maw to survive. Picking up a crystal is not enough, you gotta run forward so you get hit. At least that’s my theory and since I’ve started trying it out some weeks ago I haven’t died anymore.
Also, the animation for the laser sometimes doesn’t even show up, and for 2 guildies, the icon never appears when they are targetted (only others’ skull icons show up).
Laser animation doesn’t show up sometimes indeed, got the same thing here. Icons not appearing hasn’t happened to me, only the icon appears so high above my head that I only see it when I zoom out all the way. Might work for your guildies too, if they play zoomed in at least partly.
I can’t think of any crafting recipe that is account wide. Gotta unlock them on every character you want to craft it on.
nope -1
There is no proof whatsoever that your overflow servers at events are due to guesting any moreso than they are due to high home server population.Guests or not, if you get enough people in one place, an overflow is created.
I realize the plural of anecdote is not “data”, but before guesting I might have seen a dragon overflow once or twice a week, and ONLY on peak hours. After guesting I’m only able to get into the main playfield once or twice a week, if I show up 30-45 min before the spawn window, and it’s 4:00am (seriously, last night I was up at 3:30 and got overflowed showing up before the spawn window on The Shatterer).
Something needs to be done. It’s to the point where I can’t even do events on my own server anymore.
The overflow problems did not occur at the same time guesting was introduced but coincided with the loot upgrade (dragons and other big world bosses almost guarantee rares now).
I yet gotta see proof that the overflow at large events are caused by ppl guesting. If a couple of hundreds of ppl from our own server all come to the same zone to do an event, you get an overflow, simple as that. And hey, that’s exactly what’s happening (thanks to the predictable timers on bosses). I never guest and I don’t intend to do so, so I couldn’t care less if the whole feature is removed from the game. But I highly doubt it’d solve the overflow problem.
Ah nvm my previous post, it seems you’re really talking of server disconnects and not just game crashes. /whistles and walks off
My crystal orb is a bit foggy about your system specs but I had comparable issues with my old Core2Duo with 3GB of ram and 32 bits Windows Vista. Basically even though it shouldn’t (according to min system requirements), the PC ran out of memory and the game crashed after a while of playing, usually when changing zone or when getting near many mobs or players (WvW zergs for instance). Enabling the 3GB switch (use google to learn more about this) solved the problem and kept me playing for hours on end without a single game crash.
In the end the low settings didn’t satisfy me so I bought a new PC after all but the 3GB switch worked for me and might work for you if your PC is low on resources.
I do not want to guest at all i just want to play my game hop over to the boss when its time and go back to do what i want to do with my guildies.
And so do thousands of other people on your server. And they all go to the same zone as you around the same time, because (like you) they checked the dragon timer website, and that’s more than the zone allows. So if you don’t go to the zone way before the event starts, you end up in the overflow. Nothing to do with guesting I bet.
Limit the world chest to 1 per day per character regardless of server. Boom, solved because people won’t go guest to kill a world boss if they get no loot for it. This makes it so people only guest to play with their friends on other servers and not doing it just for the loot.
I’m pretty sure they already did that. It was possible for like a day or two and then they took it out.
Yet that seems to be the best solution.
Uhm what? The current situation seems to be the best solution for the current problem? Clearly it ain’t.
I still don’t think the overflows have anything to do with guesting at all.
Me neither, it’s probably mostly our own server’s populations that clog up zones because they’re running from one world boss to the other. Apart from raising the maps’ pop caps, a solution could be to have all the world bosses (dragons, fire elemental, shadow behemoth, wurm, frozen maw) on the exact respawn same timer so population spreads out over all the maps with a big boss.
If the problems DO originate from too many ppl guesting on worlds they pick out by watching the dragon timers website, the obvious solution would be to have all worlds share the same timers per event, not necessarily all events on 1 timer then.
Anyway, I agree that overflow for every frigging world boss is a PITA and should be addressed so everyone can participate without camping a zone an hour in advance to secure a spot. This is getting annoying as hell.
(edited by Paradox.5498)
Piken Square (EU): overflow tonight for Frostgorge Sounds (Jormag’s Claw) and Blazeridge Steppes (Shatterer) and even for the fire elemental in Metrica and probably for Behemoth in Queensdale as well.
I expect there’ll be other ways to get ascended amulets in near future, as happened with the rings (daily fractal chests, pristine relics, now laurels), so I’m not too worried it’ll take that much time to kit out alts.
You don’t need to find a level 1 fractal party, you can join a 0-9 party and level up 1 step at a time and you wouldn’t need any agony resistance. Even level 10-15 are perfectly doable without any agony resistance (originally you’d start to get agony resistance at those levels in the first place).
Do dailies, a grind?
Do fractals, a grind?
Craft a back piece, a grind?
If you say yes to these questions, then yeah, GW2 might not be your thing after all. To me, these things are fun ways of playing the game, not a grind. Feeling burned out after 200 hours of playing might be another indication that you might not like where this game’s taking you.
Why am i brutally forced to craft in order to finish a monthly? Other monthlies were much easier then this or less stressful, boring, useless however u want to call it.
Ppl who complain about wvw..it takes literally by watch 20 min, following a zerg in wvw at the reset day, to fully finish the monthly kills. It’s much more fun and rewarding then throwing silver on things u trash out after. I would gladly use that wasted silver on repairs in wvw, considering i actually do the last fun thing this game actually offers and that’s mass pvp.
Whine more, you’re not “brutally forced” to do anything. WvW might not be a problem for you or others, it is for some. Their argument is as (in)valid as yours for the crafting thing. And fyi, crafting your monthly takes about 5 mins and less than 5 silver even if you never crafted anything before. Crafting is still part of the game as much as anything else. Now either man up or stop playing, complaining about “being brutally forced” to do something ain’t gonna make your (or my) game more fun.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will forward this to the team so they can study this issue. Please, provide us with as much info as possible (server, tools used, resource) so that we can help the team asess this issue as fast as possible and provide a fix.
As usual, we ask you to be polite and keep a civil thread.
Thanks
Last night I only got ruined stuff from high tier ore, trees and plants as well.
Server: Piken Square (EU)
Zone: Frostgorge Sound
Nodes tried: Orichalcum, Ancient Sapling, Snow Truffle (I think)
Tools used: all Orichalcum
Dunno about you guys but I’m thinking this new villian could be the “dead” member of Destiny’s Edge (or whatver they called themselves) Now that could be the kind of thing that would really change the game up and would of course introduce more storylines for Destiny’s Edge. Then again I could be very very very far from the truth. :P
Risen Snaff?
Traits
Downed SkillsLick Wounds triggers non Ranger pets to resurrect you.
Lick Wounds doesn’t always work.
Lick Wounds also NEVER works as the tooltip indicates.
In-game description: "Revive your pet at your location to revive you. "
The “on your location” part simply ain’t true, your pet limps back to you all the way from where it was last located and starts reviving you. More often than not, Lick Wounds ain’t the life saver it’s presented to be.
loot is:
-ascended rings (high drop rate)
-chance to have an ascended weapon (very low drop rate like 1/25)
-token/mats for a free ascended backpack (crafting one have no point)If you play fotm for gold you’d better do any other activity.
There are rare occasion you drop exotic items but they are account bound and mostly magic find so they are worthless…even less than dungeon tokens.
You seldom happen to drop non account bound exotic skins…..quite rare also like zed set for example or glimmerfang to tell a couple that Worth something.
At least you drop some T6 mats consistently…(each type of them depending on fractal you get).
- Fractal weapons are NOT ascended, they don’t even have stats. They’re account bound skins meant for transmutation and nothing else.
- Ascended rings don’t have a “high drop rate”, you can only get them from the daily chests.
Same happened to me today.
I even went and completed another requirement, just to see if another completion would trigger the chest again.
I did the same. I think I left the daily achievements at 7/9 before going to sleep (playing on a European server, dailies reset at 1am local time) and still no rewards.
(edited by Paradox.5498)
- In part 17 of the Living Story it is revealed that Quaggans are Tyria’s common enemy. Quaggans turn hostile, while Krait turn friendly.
- Loot Quaggans for Pristine Quaggan Skins (new currency) which can be turned in for Quagganskin outfit (townclothes with silly sound effects) or even more different Quaggan backpacks.
- Quaggan Slayer added to achievements (awards title after completing highest tier)
So, drop rate has been buffed (extremely) but we can only loot the chest once per day now, right?
Before you read this topic, please notice this ain’t a whine topic about how low drop chances for fractal weapon skins are. I’m just trying to get an idea of how common or rare fractal weapons are!
I’ve started doing fractals in seriousness after the january fixes that allowed disconnected players to rejoin their party. I’m playing pretty much every night and do fractals with guildies only, and because we don’t have all that much time we often choose to do a daily run for a chest instead of progress. Hence we’ve only started doing the level 20+ fractals last week and now a bunch of us (enough to make 2 parties at the same time) are at personal reward levels 20-28.
So far none of us have seen fractal weapon skins drop, we did get a couple of infused rings. It started me wondering how rare these skins are. This is pure curiosity!
So I’d really like to hear of you people how many skins (if any) you saw drop in approximately how many lvl20+ fractal runs?
Also, I wonder where one would get the skins, as a drop off mobs (like the mists essences) or off the final chest after Jade Maw (like the rings)?
I’m flabbergasted so many people keep regarding FotM a grind fest or gear treadmill and as such, a negative thing. In our guild we have several groups that started doing fractals after the january patch (since disconnects and game crashes no longer screw up the entire party’s progress) and we’re having a great time doing so. We all started out with 0 agony resistance but most of us got that naturally in the progress of getting to higher levels, it’s definitely not something you need to grind for. It’s rather the other way around: many of us are doing level 26-30 fractals now and passing best in slot rings to all our alts.
Doing Fractals ain’t grinding, it’s fun and getting gradually more challenging the higher you get. People are actually learning to play now (getting more out of their builds, picking useful utility skills for specific situations, taking on certain tasks (rooting and crowd controlling veteran grawl shamans in the volcano fractal for instance, as they get a speed boost at higher levels) and timing skills and heals better so the whole group benefits). Having ascended items and enough agony resistance isn’t a guarantee for success, it won’t prevent you from getting knocked back in Uncategorized or beaten down during the dolphin race or completely trampled in the Dredge one when approaching the mining turrets. People have to play well and they like that!
And of course we’re hoping for some really cool gear to drop (infused rings, fractal weapons, usable exotics) but even if we ain’t looting anything worth while (we’ve yet gotta see the first fractal weapon skin drop, in the entire guild) we’re satisfied with the fun we’re having and the satisfaction of getting bosses down with less-than-ideal party combinations.
Arenanet, keep up the great job!
This is why I don’t ever pug unless I can’t avoid it. Fractals = guildies + teamspeak. Reliable, fun, easy communication.
I’d still report the guys, let Arenanet decide if this is unacceptable according to their terms. If the same person gets reported for this behaviour over and over again, by many persons, I’d guess some action is taken?
It sucks the current kicking system is so prone to abuse though. I’ve read other posts about people getting kicked at jade maw so guildies of the party leader can join and get their daily reward chest. Arenanet has already reacted that they’re looking into methods of discouraging this unwanted behaviour. Let’s hope they come up with something good!
Chantry of Sectrets in Bloodtide Coast? Even if you’ve already been there, give it a try. Guildy of mine had 100% except he didnt get the reward, I told him to go back there.
He: “But I’ve already been there. Had to go there for my personal story.”
Turns out the personal-story-instance of the Chantry is not counted for world completion while the regular one is.
Just looking for some advice because this is second time this has happened so me and a few guildies only recently started fractuals 3 of us on lvl 3 and 1 on 4 so last night we planned doing a fractual lvl four got 1 pug and started. Did a underwater path then some dredge one then rescued the stone giant. Fractual finished she said her bit and took us back to begining how ever we received no level up this is second time this has happened we are all still level 3 other still 4 and pug we couldnt get a answer from. Can anyone explain what we may be doing wrong obviouslly we have leveled before but last two times we have not.
If you’re level 3 and did underwater, dredge and stone giant fractals, you didn’t do level 4 as you said, cause the even numbered fractals always end with the Jade Maw bonus fractal.
Also, when in fractals, you see at the top right screen what level fractals you’re doing and what your personal reward level is. You only gain a level if the level you’re doing is equal to or higher than your personal reward level.
Some achievements (the ones marked with a crown in the achievement screen) already reward a title, many don’t though. I agree it would be nice to be able to show some more titles after completing the achievement.
If that happened to me, I’d report the players and their guild directly to Arenanet and never pug fractals again.
Hello,
I DO KNOW it is not rgn or i am unlucky. i could be unlucky once twice but not 5 time to get big fat 0 rares except 1 time(i got 1).
How could rng prevent you from being unlucky more than once or twice? I’ve seen runs myself in which I got 5 or 6 rares and 2 exotics and then I can easilly do 10 runs without ever getting more than 1 or 2 rares and no exotics. That is EXACTLY what rng is about. 5 runs is way too few to do a statistical analysis on.
If you’re only getting about 10S worth of drops you’re probably salvaging everything that drops? From a bad run I got at least 10 greens worth close to 2 silver each and kittenloads of blues worth anything between half a silver and a silver. At some point I always need to pause and salvage everything worth less than a silver cause my 3 20-slot bags are stuffed beyond use.
Apart from that, I really believe one should mainly do fractals because it’s fun to do and gets more challenging at higher levels.
In my opinion, GW2 has a very nasty lack of aggro management. Tanky persons can’t taunt mobs off others, mobs often seem to aggro on players purely based on what profession they play or what gear they’re wearing. On the same fight you mention, it’s practically impossible to have a guardian control the buttons because even if he does not do a single point of damage during the whole fight, he’ll probably get aggro at some point and then there’s no way he gets rid of it other than dying.
Currently +5 stat / +5 AR infusions are for die-hard min/maxers. No way I’m ever gonna spend a full stack of fine crafting mats (plus the rest!) to get… 5 silly stat points extra per item. There will probably more (and hopefully: more reasonably priced) ways to get infusions later, until then I stick to using 5AR infusions for 75 relics.
This bug is SO annoying, especially while in fractals. I haven’t got the foggiest idea how many times I ran to a crystal at Jade Maw seeing myself running to my death instead of picking up a crystal. Picking up the hammer on cliffside where a team mate dropped it and running off the platforms instead. Completely running pass a rusted torch in the frosty fractal instead of picking it up to light a fire. Can’t wait to see this fixed!
There are a couple of pre-events leading to the spawning of Behemoth. If the pre-events aren’t done (or not successfully) the Behemoth doesn’t spawn. I think the pre-events are on a timer. If you’re close to the swamp, you’ll know that there’s something going on (pre-event or Behemoth itself) if the status at the top right of your screen says anything else than “The swamp lies dormant”.
TL;DR: you can’t trigger the pre-events, but once they’ve started you CAN trigger the Behemoth.
Kill acolytes as soon as they spawn and the boss won’t heal.
Fractal weapon skins are account bound, right? So they can be passed to an alt if it’s not the desired skin?
Nah, magic find gear is the n00b stuff. Right?
I think this depends on what you call a “daily”. If you’re looking for dungeon tokens, you get 60 tokens per explorable path only once a day on your entire account. For instance, if you do path 1 of Ascalonian Catacombs on one character and net 60 tokens at the end, there’s no use in switching to another character and do path 1 again, you will get fewer tokens unless you do a path you haven’t done that day.
I think the daily reward chest in fractals is only once per day per fractal range (0-9, 10-19 etc) per account as well but I never tried that so I could be wrong here.
I bought the ghastly sword yesterday, I logged on this morning after 2AM server time, no glow.
You know it’s only supposed to glow when it’s night time in game, right?
How are you going to get a precursor (weapon) from an armor box? I’ve never assumed that gear meant weapons or are these configured so Necro gets light armor, staves, scepter, foci, daggers, and maybe(lol) trinkets ?
Anyway, pics or it didn’t happen (show us the weapons you can get).
Well, regarding the fact that Arenanet disabled the ranger gear box (can buy, can’t open atm) because players reported getting rifles (rangers can’t use those), yes, these boxes CAN give weapons and not just armour. How’s the word “gear” restricted to armour in your opinion?
And yes, the boxes can contain rings, accessories and necklaces as well as far as I’ve seen reported on this forum.
Not this crap again… Typical gear treadmills force you to keep farming forever to keep having the best in slot gear or you won’t be able to see the end-game content (a treadmill is an endless walk). In GW2 you can see every content available even if you’re wearing full rare gear, e.a. as soon as you hit lvl80. Arenanet introduced ONE challenge that keeps increasing in difficulty IF YOU WANT and now it’s a treadmill? Who forces you to keep increasing the difficulty at which you play fractals? Who forces you to do fractals to get better gear needed for other content? Hey, the answer to both questions is: noone!
Seriously, get over it and stop copy/pasting other whiners’ opinions. Time to start enjoying the game for a change.

What you actually want isn’t an extra menu item when right clicking. You want what some other people have suggested, a mini slot in the character sheet, so you can effectively equip a mini and have it exempt from your inventory and always active.
That would solve all the problems at once.
Hadn’t even thought of that but yeah, that would be wicked! But I’d be happy with the rightclick-menu-option too as it wouldn’t limit you to 1 mini/character.
Last time I played a ranger you could unsummon the pet, having no pet active at all…
Did they change that? Or people are complaining about the pet just to have something to complain about?
The Stow Pet function seems a bit broken atm: more often than not nothing happens if I try to unsummon my pet.
But I never had trouble dodging 15 times. Ice worms do a long range boulder toss, easy to evade. Ettins clearly herald their more powerful attacks, easy to evade. Or just aggro 5 random mobs and dodge like a mad hatter and you get several evades at once.
Since not everybody likes the extra inventory management needed when using “invisible” bags just for preventing minis to be deposited every time (extra inventory management being that items no longer compact well, crafting materials that happen to end up in an invisible bag no longer get deposited either which is a pain etc), it would be really nice if minis had an option to prevent them (individually) from being deposited when the “deposit all collectibles” function is used.
It would be wonderful if right-clicking a mini in (any type of) bag would show an option that prevents it from being deposited when you just mean to deposit your ores and wood and stuff.
I LOVE the “deposit all collectibles” feature but as it is, it has this unwanted side effect.
As it is now, I and many others can’t be bothered taking an invisible bag just for 1 or 2 minis and they eventually end up in a collections tab that is mostly just accessible in cities. I rarely see anyone with a mini. Pity!
Another thing is, minis stack. Why on earth do they stack?!? I thought getting a second mini of the same type would prevent the second one from being deposited but that ain’t the case, I got 2 of the new risen priests out of jewelry boxes and they’re both sitting at the collections tab. And they’re there to stay until I don’t have to pick it up every time after depositing the ores, wood, herbs, gems and leather clogging up my bags.
If you have a mini in your inventory and use the “deposit all collectibles” function in the inventory screen, your mini is deposited as well. Could this be what happened? Check @ your bank or a crafting station by visiting the collections tab. Only way to prevent this is putting the mini in an “invisible” bag.
Had it happen a couple of times in fractals recently, as Neon said it happened when trying to pick up or use something while running past it. First it happened in the colossus-fractal when trying to pick up the hammer while running, almost got me dropping to my death. Later it also happened a couple of times in the frost bite fractal, while trying to pick up a torch while running, or lighting a fire with a torch while running. Annoying as hell, can’t wait for this to be fixed.
Same problem, sometimes it works as expected but more often than not, it doesn’t. That, and the annoyingly long cooldown before you can even use the ability after going to downed state make it a pretty worthless and unreliable “life saver”.
