New 'Fast Hands' Bug - Dropping Objects

in Warrior

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

PuffballPink.6035

I think it’s just a display issue.

I can confirm that it’s a real issue. When you drop a banner, you cannot swap between weapons for 5 seconds. Normally, dropping a banner doesn’t give you a weaponswap cooldown.

I think the rework on Engineer bundles affected our banners. I’ve noticed that picking up banners now cause Sigils of Geomancy to activate.

Snowball Mayhem is supposed to be fun?

I love this event. We should petition Arena Net to have it available year round through guild influence. Then guilds can host Snowball Mayhem events that last for a few hours by spawning an NPC in LA.

Yeah, it would be cool except for the fact that Warriors have a snowball-reflecting present-stealing scout-rushing charge which completely breaks the game. It’s like the Reaper’s Rumble against elementalists, but Arenanet intentionally added it in for flavor!

But in addition to the 1200 range, Stronger Bowstrings does the following

  • Smoldering Arrow becomes a large projectile finisher and deals double damage

The trait is not as bland as you think it is.

The best way to fix banners would be to remove the pick-up animation entirely. If you press the interact key next to a banner, it should be equipped just as fast as switching a weapon.

The biggest issue with the banner is the pick-up time. There’s a whole animation dedicated to picking up banners, and you’re rooted in place until it’s complete. Removing this make the banner much easier to move around and use in combat.

I honestly believe Banners are better in terms of support because it legitimately makes trading hits more of a breeze for the team. Not to mention you only need one Banner vs. having three shouts.

Absolutely. And considering how often players build glass cannons, a Defense Banner dispensing 100 health per second will increase their survivability greatly.

What a "casual" player really is, in my view

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

PuffballPink.6035

Casual players want what the hardcore player want – to be worthwhile.

This simply isn’t true. While there certainly are people who are great at games but lack the time, a casual player is their namesake – someone who plays casually with little care or thought. Most casual players likely don’t care (or know) about legendary weapons and the Mystic Forge. This update does not affect their enjoyment in the slightest.

However, you do bring up a good point. People who do care about games but lack the time can be severely affected by the upcoming patch. While this isn’t a solution to your problem, have you considered joining a guild with players who would help you achieve your goals? People are really nice in this game.

Longbow burst deals damage?

PuffballPink.6035

Side Notes:

Thanks for the information, but most of it is incorrect. Before I correct them, let me catch everyone else up to speed on an interesting fact.

Stronger Bowstrings updates the weapon tooltips by actually replacing your original abilities with new ones. It’s like picking up an elementalist weapon in trait form. Due to an oversight, the 1200 range longbow has slightly different abilities than the 900 range longbow. Most of these differences are buffs.

Onto the corrections:

Arcing arrow also gets a 3 second burn when you gain the trait Stronger Bowstrings.

Arcing arrow does not get a 3 second burn when traited. The tooltip says it does, but a quick check proves it false.

– If Fan of fire is used in the Combustive Shot, combo field Fire projectile finisher
will occur 3 times and a total of 6 seconds of burning (3×1 second burns from
the skill itself and 3×1 seconds for each projectile will be applied

Fan of fire is not normally a combo finisher. You must use Stronger Bowstrings to get the version that does, and even then it’s only a 20% chance for each projectile.

- Smoldering Arrow and Pin down each trigger the fire field projectile finisher combo.

Again, Smoldering Arrow is not normally a finisher. You have to use the trait to get the version of the longbow that does it.

-Dual shot (the basic 1 attack for longbow) fires 2 separate projectiles, each applying 1 second of burning to the target in a fire field, resulting in 2 seconds of burning for each Dual Shot cast.

It’s a 20% chance for each projectile. This is also true with the traited version of the longbow.

Bladetrail huge damage BUG - all info how to replicate it

in Warrior

PuffballPink.6035

I went to the Mists with a Steady Greatsword to test this out. Bladetrail does increase in damage every time it hits another target.

I then refunded all my traits. The bug still happens.

Just in case, I did two separate tests with 10 points in the Strength tree. Traiting Berserker’s Power only gave a flat percentage increase, as intended.

Conclusion
Warrior traits are not the cause of this bug. It is a glitch in the skill itself.

Speed boosts in Reaper's Rumble

in Halloween Event

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

PuffballPink.6035

As many of you know, some class traits still work in Halloween events. I had no problem with having a few quirks, but I’m seeing more and more people exploiting their traits. For example, air elementalists are intentionally grabbing the other team’s starting pumpkin without any hassle. A team without elementalists is at a real disadvantage, and exploiting is simply poor sportsmanship.

Will these speed boost traits (and others) be fixed for Halloween events? If not, will this become a problem in later events down the road?

How useful are shields for warriors? PvE

in Warrior

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

PuffballPink.6035

Reflecting projectiles with the shield is rather effective against several types of Risen. But overall the shield feels lackluster in open PvE. If facing only one enemy, the off-hand sword blocks and gives 4 stacks of bleed. If facing two or three, the warhorn gives better long-term survivability and removes any long-term conditions (ie 30s cripple/poison).

The shield is best at blocking lots of attacks and stalling for time, which happens slightly more often in Dungeons and frequently in WvW.

Does warhorn damage matter at all?

in Warrior

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

PuffballPink.6035

yes and what about effects example( 60% bleed on crit or the chance for stuff ones) since it doesnt do dmg will those even work?

Don’t worry. Sigils in the off-hand weapon can still be activated by attacks with the main hand.

For example, my sword crits are made of lightning thanks to the sigil of air in my shield.

Would the 33% vulnerability trait help keep enemies from removing bleed stacks through condition removal?

Keep in mind that sword offhand #4 seems to be bugged. For me it only stacks 1 bleed instead of the promised 4.

The first stack is applied immediately. The other three stacks are applied one at a time over the next couple of seconds. Turn off your auto-attack and you’ll see it yourself. It’s likely a glitch.

The downscaling has limited effectiveness since you are downscaled to 2 levels over the content.

Only 2 levels?

Here’s a fun exercise: go to local vendors and purchase level-appropriate weapons for the area. Compare your damage before and after.

Downscaling is a poorly implemented mechanic, likely due to adding 80 levels to cater to the fans of older MMOs.

Question on Toughness, Vitality, Power, and Diminishing Returns?

in Warrior

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

Going full Vitality or full Toughness should not get you the highest HP. If it does, then that’s a possible indicator of a poorly designed game. Same with Power/Precision/CritDmg.

btw, call it something other than “diminishing returns”. That has a real definition in statistics, and it’s not what you’re referring to.

Help me understand the longbow

in Warrior

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

PuffballPink.6035

Any combo finishers I use don’t trigger unless I activate them near the center of the field.

We’re talking about two separate issues here. The first issue, which you’re talking about, is where you have to aim the finisher to get the combo. Yeah, your shot has to be firmly inside the combo field in order for the combo to trigger. Aiming the center of your #3 inside the area’s edge doesn’t count. It’s pretty frustrating.

The second issue, which I thought you were talking about, was the range for the boon. If the combo works, everyone inside and nearby the combo finisher gains 3 stacks of might. I’ve gained the might stacks while being on the outskirts of the combo field by aiming the finisher close to me. Does that clarify things?

I hope they change the abilities to match the tooltips. More burn damage will do wonders to bring the longbow on par with other weapons.

Help me understand the longbow

in Warrior

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

PuffballPink.6035

I decided to do some testing on the longbow, so I wanted to make a few clarifications.

I don’t understand whats going on with the #2 ability. Since fire damage doesn’t tick over the targets head I can’t tell whats really going on with it. I know if you hit a target at pointblank range with it you’ll stack up to 6 seconds worth of burning instead of just 2 seconds.

The tooltip is wrong. Each arrow only causes 1 second of burning. I’ve reported it.

The #3 ability is actually pretty sweet… if you can manage to successfully land it on a group of targets. If you time this ability with the Combustive Shot burst skill you can lay down Area Might, but only if you’re standing right in the middle of where the arrow explodes.

Nope! The boon radius is slightly larger than the ability’s AoE.

Additonally, the tooltip says it inflicts 3 seconds of burning (it doesn’t). Reported that as well.

The #5 ability doesn’t make any sense. This is the AOE weapon. Why is this ability only single target?

Why does the Rifle’s #4 ability deal vulnerability when that doesn’t help with bleeds? Why is its cast time so long that it actually reduces your damage output?

It’s more an ability that helps your allies more than it helps yourself. 3 seconds of immobilize is a great incentive for your teammates. In fact, unlike the Rifle’s #4, it actually synergizes with your skillset, because you can lock down a player in your AoEs.

I tend to use the longbow as a situational weapon in WvW. It’s the only weapon warriors have that can reliably hit enemies on top of walls. It gains adrenaline very quickly because it fires two arrows at once, so you can constantly fire off your burst skill to keep the pressure up on enemies on arrow carts and oil pots. It also works with banners; a fast warrior can get 9 stacks of might out of the burst skill with a single banner.

Champion Fire Shaman in Iron Marches

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

PuffballPink.6035

The fire shaman really is far off the beaten path. This must be why the designers added a bubble in the area that grants regen and makes you invulnerable to the shaman’s attacks.

I was pretty disappointed with the lack of chest and event progression as well. The fight itself was pretty cool, but I think they should consider adding particle effects to a certain attack (you know the one).

Will DE's become more engaging or complex?

PuffballPink.6035

For instance, the zone DE reaches a point, The commander says, “We need to defend the south, and north bunkers…” And 2 new DEs open up at both areas.

Actually, near the Ascalonian Catacombs two separate escort missions split off from the same Charr camp. One headed north, the other south.

Not exactly addressing your post, but there are some examples of good design sprinkled in the game already; they really need to capitalize on it.

Will DE's become more engaging or complex?

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: PuffballPink.6035

PuffballPink.6035

The most complex Dynamic Event I’ve seen in this game so far was back during the beta.

In Kessex Hills, sometimes centaurs attack a military barracks. Enemies come in generic waves with no real variety. Once you win, a soldier eventually informs the captain of spare supplies they can give to a nearby mining town, including an arrow cart. If you complete the dolyak escort mission, the soldiers will drop off the arrow cart in town, and players can fire it just like in WvW. Neat.

Unfortunately, when the centaurs attack the mine in their generic waves, the first casualty is always that arrow cart, ganked by a stampede. Now here’s where things gets interesting: the centaur attacks on the barracks and the centaur attacks on the mining town are not related to each other. If you happen to escort the dolyak to town while the centaurs are assaulting the mine, not only will the soldiers acknowledge the attack, they’ll set up the arrow cart behind a chokepoint instead of leaving it out in the open.

This is the sort of interaction I wanted to find in this game. As it stands, Dynamic Events currently have as much gameplay depth as Quests in other MMOs. It hurts to count the number of events which boil down to “Enemy grouping A spawns from location X. When killed, group A spawns from location Y. Alternate spawnpoints until progress bar is filled.” The point of Events was to create a living, breathing world, but the events themselves are so badly structured that they often make the world feel less alive, not more. It’s a shame.
