first of all i will start saying that the existent wvw players will try to abuse the f2p system .

anyone that things that this will never happen he will lie to himself and to others.

my personal view is that i have not a single problem with f2p players . i like have them fill my server’s maps while i can not , but if there is a possibility from other wvw players abuse the f2p system , then i prefer not to have these accounts in our borderlands.

i am belonging to mmo players that love to explore and i can not say from perosnal experience if there are easy ways to level fast up to 60 level ( in my sevrer reported me that many up-l;evel their toons to 60 in 3 days and there are many ways to do it ) , but if there is a single option to do it , then all wvw maps will filled with huge number of f2p accounts from players from other servers soon. .

why to do it ? because of the benefits that will have in matchup .

one benefit is to totally block the access to their home borderlands to enemies by parking their f2p accounts to the opposite side !

other benefits are hacking, spying , trolling , botting or whatever . something that it is happening now , but limited because there are not many players out there to pay to risk loose money with bans by doing these actions.

if there is not any risk to loose money , all existent wvw players will try abuse the system , including my self ……

this will destroy the wvw as it is now .

p.s. in my home i have 3 different computers and in my work plenty and i am sure there are a lot of players out there that have at least one laptop or they are playing from internet cafe where there a lot of computers to help abuse this system !

p.ss. i have some news to share from my country . i have read from our game forums that all f2p created their toons in Seafarer Rest , desolation , piken square and gandara …. huh . if you think that f2p players will choose anything else than tier 1 you failed understand the human nature

I like to know what you can even do to fix a coverage problem beyond just cutting off wvw then “your” not playing in wvw. I do not think its a truly fixable thing and is more of a problem of rvr game type then just a GW2 problem.

rvr is not a problem by design . if someone wants to improve it , he can make a rvr system that gives tools to the “weaker” or reasons to the players to play the wvw game mode more and not playing only pve or spvp or EOTM as replacement of wvw .

besides all , there are not problems that can not fixed or prevented them in this life . somehow there are always a solution and in these forums we have said many solutions in the past to improve the rvr and to prevent the torture of the outnumbered server .

i have spend in these 3 years many $ to support the game , but as a 3 years player

i can give max 10 $ for this expansion …. why ? because , i have no need to play a new pve map , no need to have a glider , no need to have a legendary / precursor , no need to have a guild hall to do my personal wars .

if the expansion is forced to buy it , maybe it is time to make a break

Is there any announcement about coverage problem with expansion or i missed the notes ?

i am belonging in a real life family / friends guild and we are playing only for our server pride in wvw and for the fun , but the coverage problem converts the fun in wvw to torture . with this expansion i feel that the coverage problem will remain or will become worst for many servers because of guild halls / guild wars .

personal i don’t feel Applied Fortitude and Strength or bloodlust buff have any meaning to exist in wvw . they all give stat bonus with zero effort from players and are tools for server score manipulation .

The wvw in Eso was vastly superior in just about every way. No zerging for the most part. Large group fights yes. But not a zerg in the sense of running thru the enemy like a herd of gazelle. You have large numbers in epic controntations. Or small skirmishes. But you dont have what ive seen in gw2. Why do i know this. Because when i got to gw2 i was like wtf is this? I had never experienced such a thing as the herd. Its lame as hell. eso we would fight over something as important as a bridge for hours. Going back and forth over what side we held even. It was an epic struggle of like 50 players per side battling back and forth for inches. Epic. It took hours sometimes fighting over land. Taking a keep and outpost back and forth from the enemy. It was amazing. gw2 you run to a keep and take it in like 2 min and move on zerging to the next like a herd of animals. No strategy to speak of. Keeps fall with ease and the “siege” aspect is laughable compared to eso and its long sieges and strategies. Keeps are small in gw2 and really feel like breaking into your neighbors house. Its hardly epic. You dont even really need seige equip. Why? Seems silly to make them so easy to take. Its just run and turn over keep after keep in a mindless run across the rather small map.

you are unlucky mate . you are playing gw2 in wrong server and with wrong wvw guilds.

in my server we are not give up any tower / keep without strong resist , even outnumbered . in offensive mode we can pressure a tower /keep for hours too .

basically you describe the “pirate ship” zerg fights , and you think this is epic ? BS !!! pirate ship fights have zero tactic or strategy . one team stays in a side and the other team to the other side and the range damage dealers pew pew the fools that stay inside their range .

gw2 zerg fights are far better than pirating style zerg fights . we fight body to body with our enemies and the tactics change every second because of synergy skills and time cool-downs .

p.s. when the gw2 zerg fight will change to full pirating style the wvw will die !

the upcoming changes as an addition to the existent system on upgrades ( after expiration of buff lord ) are goods because help people focus on fights but what will be happened if a guild or a person want to control these upgrades or if enemies torture a server because for a big time period like late nights until early morning a server has not coverage to recapture their staff back and enemies auto upgrade them to t3 ?

the only real advantage in wvw is that you learn your server players and you can create communities and friendships with people .

pve and spvp* are both megaserver based and we are just an another player one of those anonymous players that play these gamemodes .

in my wvw server i know who is running the dollies , who is covering the north towers , who is killing enemy dollies and who is slacking in any capture

.* dedicated and teamed spvp is not anonymous but the majority is

maybe it is better the new system , but it excludes all the people that still enjoy playing the role of upgrader / objective scouter .

there is some fun behind it when you succeed to implement a personal mission like manage the incoming resources and the way to upgrade a tower /keep .

if they can make it more flexible this auto upgrade and connect the claim of an object with upgrade orders i think is the best way to have both systems in the game . the old connected to claim with manual upgrades and the new for all the objectives with no claim .

p.s. many enemy guilds antagonize each other on who can keep or conquer a claimed objective and they have fun on it . let them keep this old feature

every system changed to a better and more challenged is always welcomed .

i hope we have no more destroyable wp in wvw keeps like eotm has persistent . wp upgrades gives nothing to strategy and when a server loose their keep wp , many players from this server are leaving the map .

also, sm has no reason to have wp at all if all server keeps have wp.

nothing is missing . venom shares counter are reflection skills (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Reflect) , but this will create the effect of ping pong the cc conditions in fights

you realize wells are not a projectile?

if wiki is correct the projectile effects from finishers are projectiles as well ( https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Projectile_finisher ) but in this page only chill is projectile and not the immobilize or the stone from basilisk .

maybe the wiki is wrong and the projectile finishers are more , including immobilize and stone from basilisk .

btw ,we tested and only wall of reflection and feedback help us against teams with venom shares

the problem is the stab changes gave a lot of space to pirate style of fights and cc builds became OP and very hard to counter .

the magic word is initialize . there are some default configuration in win OSes that client can not handle well after these updates and when players add static ip / disable ipv6 * and change dns with public google dns they stop having problems !

*ipv6 is a new protocol and there are many adsl routers brands that have problem with it . google it to find the truth about ipv6 in adsl home routers

You are spouting gibberish…
Gaming traffic almost never requires DNS and even when it does use a hostname, once the connection is established, DNS has nothing to do with it.
IPv6 have even less to do with it.

A much simpler and more likely explanation is that the ANET server needs to drop someones traffic when it becomes a problem, instead of dropping everyone’s, a few unlucky souls are affected.

Occam’s Razor wisely reads :
Among competing hypotheses that predict equally well(which yours does NOT), the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.

first of all you are not a good person to speak and you have no clue about IT/ Networking and you are still speaking about it .

dns : every map has its own ip . the dns service is responsible to guide the clients from one ip to another when there are no static ips in client’s code . the server database instances that host the maps and their vips use the dns intranet service to work and they have also an Internet ip to published to the world . this is the part where the client must have a good working dns when players change maps ( different ip each map ) and for the reason the client is still using many resources that are hosted inside their server farm to different ips . a bad dns server( like a adsl router in home or a bad maintained isp dns server ) creates problems in dns cache that is answering ( first resolving point ) when a domain name exist in dns-cache database and gives wrong answers . if it is outdated it just disconnects the client .

static or dhcp for gaming pc ? ofc static . the reason is that someone controls what is happening to pc network interface and he is not affected with problems that some people may have when they are adding more adsl routers to act like hubs or WiFi repeaters inside their home intranet and they still have their dhcp server enabled and act like a rogue dhcp server inside their intranet.

resources : the resources that can create collisions maybe are in anet’s side but this can not explain that some players have not problem while some other have …

i have no clue who is this Occam’s Razor ….

neither . this is client problem . your ping is constantly 200+ms and the client shows 1200+ ms.

That information does not come from the client…
Most likely just calculated by the client.

That lag is ANET side……. 100000% sure. Unless some sort of port blocking is coming into play, which i highly unlikely to be the case with an intermittent issue.

my whole thread was just to make the matchups more interest for all the the type of gw2 players and all the days of the matchup and not as it is now where the first server is never changed after the first two days .

p.s. yeah the bloodlust buff that gives points to server that have it and not give points to server that do not have it ! gg to have people to run around ruins !

by making smaller the time per tick will give to the PPT heroes more times to play this role during matchup .

the PPT will totally destroyed if the tick will increased to 8hours and if the points per tick will be the sum of :

( captured objectives + bonus from upgrades ) points every 1 hour ( that inner tick nobody will know what it is ) with much more points than now ,
+ 2 points in every successfully event during matchup per player ,
+ 1 point from successfully down of enemy ,
+ 2 points from finishing ,
- 1 point from every event failed per player ( bloodlust will remain as buff and only and i hope in new map we don’t have it at all ) and ….

by making the points in the half day ( 12:00 -24:00 ) count double from the nights ….

p.s. events will be the counter of the blob ppk effect because blobs can not be in all events same time in a map and all type of players can help to server score in all maps !

at nights , home borders should have maximum 40 men each side . night blob-bombing against outnumbered servers has as result of furstation of the defenders .

eb is more than enough as map to have 80 men each side all the times .

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes people (including me) will adjust their graphics settings and not realize they have made permanent changes This is because the game continues to draw existing characters at the old setting and only new characters get the new higher (and potentially slower) setting. Then they map travel and suddenly the game is slower because all of the characters (players and NPCs) have been loaded at the new, higher graphics level setting. But it’s not obvious that the earlier setting change caused things to run slower later. We could “fix” this by doing a big graphics refresh every time you change a setting. That might annoy players but eliminate this problem. -prefereset will also ‘fix’ this problem by resetting your graphics settings which might be what you experienced.

i noticed in some friends who had various problems with game like no working mouse key binds or problem to change some settings in options that the gw2-cache(numbers) in temp folder was double . after the deletion of the two files while the game was closed the game client worked correct and it created only one gw2-cache(numbers).

i also suggested to them to disable the ipv6* ( unchecked in network settings ) and set static local ip / dns and uncheck the Anti-aliasing in video card option ( all had amd vga cards ) in game and they stopped have lags and skill lags in wvw .

.* not all personal adsl routers work correct with ipv6

@OP take care of SY in wvw without counter to remove any condition you removed from your allies and took all of them on you

48% precision is way to much …. with 40% is just enough . same result with fury .remove some precision and add ferocity . more useful . gs hits give as weapon many criticals , you need more damage for these criticals

when i saw this build i remembered my zerg build ( 0/1/6/6/1 ) 1 1/2 years ago with gs / staff

yeah this extraction problem of runes/sigils is a real problem . i hope they add soon a wvw extractor because the price of pve extractor ( for agony usage ) is a bit too expensive for what it offers

i am playing 2 1/2 years the game most of the time (80%) in wvw . i have spent a lot of gold to upgrades and i am continue spending gold when it is needed .i have 6 chars 80 level , most of them leveled in wvw and with tome of knowledges and i have only 1 char geared of them in full ascended and …. I am not playing him anymore the other chars are in exotic and i really do not feel the need to make them full ascended . I am playing them every day in wvw and i full enjoy them !

the main reason is that the builds are change all the time and because the real difference between ascended and exotic is only 5% in stats and the knowledge of the game overlap the lower stats against my enemies . we can take ascended accessories easier in wvw than pve .

of course i am always using food and more of the times the 60-70 level because i don’t feel that the 1% difference can make me win all the times and it don’t .

in conclusion , exotic is still exists as gear in wvw and the food ,the tactics , the builds , the class and the cooperation in map with the allies matters more than the best gear !

p.s. in wvw tournaments i won ascended accessories for my chars , the other ascended accessories i bought them with badges and laurels from wvw merchants and i had once a hammer ascended as drop from a camp at 80 wvw rank

i don’t want continue the debate . we have different opinions and i would like ask from anyone that think there is position for engies in guild raid in front-line to give all the build and some proves like a CURRENT video to help guilds make the choise to pickup a engie for their raids.

now with stability changes is just a suicide to run within enemies melee train . i think we can agree at least with that .

aoe damage is passing or not the stealth ?

when the passive stealth pop up can this help engie stay alive from aoe damage in front-line ?

as i said to play the engie is useful only in support role to protect the damage dealers ( ele , necro ,memsers . thieves) . if he try to fight with melee "ball " one mistake and he is out . nothing can save him and he can only be useful with bombs that are melee aoe weapons in fact that can blasted . i am not sure for elixir gun if it pops the retaliation . but flamethrower and grenades pop retaliation and he can’t use them as mainly weapons and pistol in main hand has very poor for raw damage . only blind is useful from pistol , fire and go away

the only real option to be real useful in guild runs is bombs and bombs had in my mind to say , one mistake and out .

P.S. and the mistake is the counting of cool-downs of course .

this could be a solution ,but there is a problem with regular players that do the jp if it gives exp / wexp after accomplish of the jp.

i remember devs had implemented a feature in the past where if a player killed from the same enemy more than one time in a short time he didn’t take any exp or loot .

when they removed it ? seems, i missed the change

Hey guys!

First of all thanks for all the replies!

Next to that I think that engineer can be very very strong in WvW according to your replies and my own testing. The main problem is that you have to be very experienced on the engineer which is actually quite rare these days (in conparison).

I have been testing and what I found to be most useful is a zerk setup in combination with slick shoes, rocket boots and elixir S. My role was to get the stability down just before the zerg arrived. Therefore my damage came from rifle with burst (on necro bomb) fron jump shot

eng can help the guild raid but in a support role of the main GWEN group like memsers /thieves and to keep safe the light members of the main raid like ele and necro from enemy thieves .

also eng can do his own water blasts but more as an emergency water than a main water for melee group that ele give .

toss elixir b is not so important to make eng main part of the group , because stability became a useless boon …… to have it means nothing . it can very easy removed.

and yes his elites is not for group raids . the kit is easy avoidable and the elixir x with tornado is 50/50 rng . rng is not for dedicated groups .

the most important reason is that eng in a guild raid can not do mistakes . one mistake means death while the GWEN classes have more options to survive from their mistakes ( guardian aegis at 50% , war defy pain at 25%, ele armor of earth at 25% , necro death shroud )

in a league always there is the last . the only that can dev do is to meaning nothing this position .

with an alliance system in wvw can helped all servers perform better and make the matchups more interest

devs can use the three tiers ( gold , silver , bronze ) and create alliance matchup wars and allow players to join any map of their ally server or their enemies.

the 9 alliances for europe will be as this :

1st alliance : the 1st server of current gold league , the middle tier of current silver league and the last server of current bronze league

2nd alliance : the 2nd server of current gold league , the middle+1 tier of current silver league and the first server of current bronze league

etc …. and the same for NA .in NA they can merge all servers in 7 alliances .

in this alliance war everything is doable and nobody can say that he will finish first or it matters if they are first or last .

every alliance matchup will have 3 winners and even the last server will have a change win an alliance matchup if his other 2 servers help him with points or with players . unfortunately this idea has only one requirement ….

to remove the eotm map at late nights and early mornings .

the idea behind eotm was to help wvw players do wvw while in queue in afternoon – evening times where most of the players want to play wvw . now eotm became a farming map all the day and in wvw remained only the dedicated wvw players .

@OP if you cant create a zerg under your tag do the best you can do with the numbers you have .

map intelligence ( informations of enemies moves ) is your best advantage in wvw . ask for infos in map chat . roamers can help you to avoid traps and wipes

There is a trait that when you are hit under 25% health pops elixir s that makes engineers invulnerable. Either way, in my opinion, you shouldn’t claim hacking without certainty. As false positives makes dealing with those who are certainly hacking, to be dealt with.

this is what i am using to my engie to avoid the pew pew easy mode rangers . i am sure i have many reports to my engie too

Don’t want to bring my tin foil hat out or something, BUT THE STABILITEH CHANGES ARE TOO MUCH FOR THE SERVEEEEEEEEERS!

Eotm blobs are usually just happy-go-lucky upscaled characters with no use for stab! While the BL’s have bajillions of stab-using classes.

I’m not saying the changes should be reverted, but just create a rift between PvP balance, WvW balance and PvE balance.

And for the record, I’ve never seen a PvE group demolish a “Boss’s defiant stacks” to this day. You’re reasoning for the change was unfounded to say the least.

Devs can farther change the stability to help servers load and have the same result as now , easy …..

the problem with melee stab “ball” that bulldozing anything in its pass came from

1. stacking duration of stability ( 3 or 4 times i don’t remember exactly the number ) and
2. small recast time of trained “stand your ground” shout .

if devs remove from the old stability the stacking feature and increase a lot the recast trained time of “stand your ground” like 54 seconds ( more time for 5 full stab guards sharing their stabs . 5 from syg + 4 from trained virtue of courage = 9 seconds x 5 = 45 seconds stab with perfect rotation) OR limit it to less allies than 5 the sharing option with the old recast timer OR make it just personal boon like warriors stability that shares only retaliation ( i think is the best option ) , the result will be the same as now where there is not any stab melee “train” in wvw maps and it will give a small time window for organized groups to recover against bigger groups . also, the servers will do WAY LESS COMPUTATIONS for player’s boons in the same time .

Less computations and network traffic between server and clients from the past too !!!

p.s. also the hallowed ground can help for the group to create a small area of stability but this area is a static area and force the group stay in the area and not attacking anything , they can only fight in this area to defend the small area and this is the meaning of this skill and this is why i didn’t include it in the melee stab “ball” problem .

p.ss. i am hearing that nobody is using mantra ( point me a mesmer that remains inside heavies group to be my hero ) or toss elixir b for group stability . these changes can remain without creating more problems

p.sss. i am sure that there are more skills that create extra load and network traffic between servers and clients . for example the type of skills that do pulses . pulse means in every pulse time the client sends to server some extra infos about the characters and server reacting to clients . if devs focus to rework these types of skills ( there are many of them in game ) i am sure the wvw will be less laggy .

April Fools 2013 was the best Holiday in any MMO ever imo

April Fools 2014 was somewhat disappointing because no SAB, but it was still really funny. I ran around trying to find the craziest bobbleheads (Moose and Colossus).

April Fools 2015 just wasn’t very funny. Logged in, did daily, logged out :/

me too , but i really do not care for daily , i collected the quartz from home and out .

Pre 80 no longer welcome in WvW?

Hello, so I recently decided to start playing this again after having not touched it for two years and it seems like (on my server anyways, Stormbluff Isle) people seem to be extremely offended by somebody not being level 80 in pvp. Just tonight I was following a group around and was threatened to be mass reported by a guild and had another group even begging me with gold to leave WvW until I hit 80 on my character. (This is a new character that’s a level 49 eng). I didn’t even say anything to them so should I have to worry about losing access to my account if they did mass report me?

any guild raid reacts in same way with all players that do not belong to them .

special the no 80 level characters have not the best gear / the traits and the stats and they are all the time the first target for the 80 level enemies .

but the no 80 level characters are still very useful in wvw . they can scout and alert in /m /t chat for enemies moves and pve with mobs around the objects ( towers / keeps ) , they can use the swiftness to make dollies deliver faster their supplies , they can help in repairs and siege refreshing or by joining the map commander ( the blue com tag ) and help him have enough people to accomplish his missions .

all these activities they are giving exp to no 80 level characters too while they are doing something useful for their server and for themselves .

but, following a guild raid or any dedicate experienced roaming group is not a good idea for reasons like rally and the first and easy target for enemies . the uplevel chars almost all the time is out of the battle first and they can not enjoy the battle for more than 1 minute . you want to see the battle ? stay in a safe distance and see , learn and enjoy the battle .

involving to a battle that you will easy loose is not wise approach of wvw . even 80 levels chars retreat the fights if they can not win ( more enemies , counter class , worst gear or food or even UN-prepared )

i did a test . i used the mortar on the bridge in south west garrison door . we were only 2 allies and the second ally on a superior ac. i was waiting the blob before my report in /t chat .

the blob came . i haven’t any lag when they came . after that i pressed only the 5 skill that knock the enemies . my client started be heavier .

i reported their come to /t chat . more allies came . the client became unstable at the end after my allies start using the arrocarts and all their ranged skills on enemies and enemies started shooting to my position ( i had changed to a superior ac ) .

so the effect of lag ( heavy client ) started when i applied to the blob the cc of knock .

when the blob was there they haven’t on them stability or they pressed when they saw my fire , i really don’t know , but seems the server send many infos to my client about their boons or anything .

p.s. i have i7 4820k unlocked at 4.2 ghz with 16g ram and 7870 with 3g vram vga and the client is installed on ssd disk .

nothing to my end

Immunity to burning condition

I’m hoping it’s just an immunity to the burning status which certain fires in the game gives you, and hopefully that the lava will inflict. If not, I don’t think it is a good idea.

i agree . i hope it is immune from sieges burning and only .
