Well…. he has a good point though.
Anyway, it was not flaming.
So I was playing ranked Temple of the Silent Storm with my trap ranger…
So you are that guy that plays power ranger on a mediocre level, even though there are better power options available like necro or mesmer.
Anyway, lesson from more experienced ranger player:
Trap and spirit ranger are ONLY viable ranger builds. If you are playing any other ranger build you are holding your team back.
don’t think there would be any “discrimination” towards lower ranks, because there hasn’t been any in the days where PvP rank actually mattered (before “everyone” got a bump to 80).
Rank =!= Skill
That’s not really true. Before they made ranks irrelevant they meant quite a bit. All R50+ players were better than R20-30 players. They had much more experience and were simply better. Sure maybe when certain threshold is reached it becomes less relevant, but one thing was always true. High ranked players have been feared a lot more than low ranked players.
If it really was the way you described it then you did everything right. You are not an idiot.
I would like MMR to be displayed. We need something to say: “hey, this player is more experienced”. That is very important in competitive gaming. I don’t think there would be any “discrimination” towards lower ranks, because there hasn’t been any in the days where PvP rank actually mattered (before “everyone” got a bump to 80).
I learned long ago to never give up.
About a year ago I had amazing soloq match where we were getting wiped a lot, got tricapped and were losing 250-0 until we started slowly picking up our first points. Was on temple map. Due to buffs and simply stepping it up and playing better we managed to win 500-496. Since that day I always give my best until the very end.
I agree with OP on almost everything. They should have maintained same direction as during first year but I guess it wasn’t profitable enough.
If your email was hacked and the hacker is still logged into it they could just delete the automated response and any Anet emails before you get to see them. If you email has been hacked, I suggest abandoning that email all together (especially if you had any REAL financial or retail sites tied to that address).
Note that there has been issues in the past with yahoo (and gmail, I think) having delivery issues with the Anet support emails.
I put different email in the email field. Not the hacked one. I can’t access the hacked one. And in the Guild Wars 2 account email field I put the hacked one. I hope automated response and later the real response won’t go to that one.
Hello, yesterday I sent a ticket about my main account being hacked (as well as my email). However, I didn’t even receive an automated response, or any other response. I used different email there, filled everything correctly, got that small green confirmation message, checked trash/spam/all folders, no email at all.
What do I do now? I don’t have a ticket number. I don’t want to expose the email I used here in public.
I’ve already told you how condi builds could work with structure so go back and read again.
This is GW2, so I expect it to be better than GW1 however after 3 years this game feels like a poor neighbour of great game.
I fully agree with OP and I don’t care about people that don’t agree with us. I stopped paying for gems and I hope more and more disappointed, not paying people will force anet to put more effort to the game.
It’s normal that it’s not a better game. GW1 was created with passion of few people while GW2 was created with corporation seeking for profit.
However, I still think GW2 is quite a good MMO, most likely even the best one around. GW1 doesn’t really count as a MMO.
Yes the game has it’s flaws, which if you read the reviews from their employees are mostly because of the upper management.
But the game is still really good and it’s fun to play, there is always something to do. Sure my vision of how the game should be is different than Anet’s vision, but I still have to be realistic and say it’s a great game.
Royal, did you play Guild Wars 1? Because Asuras and Charr were speaking there too. But rocks wouldn’t bleed and neither would skeletons. The current condition system is anything but functional or logical. Mesmers were a really strong class there too, and so were necros, but back then, logic and anatomy still mattered.
Here, between the promised-not-to-do-it “Hey! I swung a sword!” (with the huge dose of sarcasm adding it to the skill’s description) to the “someone call a doctor! I think my turret ate so bad shrooms”, nothing does. But it’s kinda obvious that there aren’t many people left who care about the state of the game. Just about the promotions of the gem store.
I spent about 6k hours on GW1.
Anyway, I was trying to explain that things don’t have to be logical. That it really doesn’t matter if you can destroy a rock by shooting arrows at it or slay a mighty dragon by constantly shooting at its foot. If you dislike the lack of logic then you shouldn’t be playing a fantasy MMO, you should be playing chess.
Ever since the release you had a green star clearly pointing your way to the next main story quest, by doing those you explored many different areas.
Also, you could see so many spams in /map chat and now in LFG for dungeons.
Beauty of events is that you discover them by simply playing the game, you are not supposed to know everything right away, it takes away the feeling of “wow this boss is awesome”.
I’m guessing people who want even more simplification never played any Zelda games or any older RPG games.
And yes there is wiki that tells you EVERYTHING
Poisoning turrets and blinding the sand is illogical but as a human falling from a really high distance and barely getting injured is logical? Having Charr/Asura/Plants talk like humans even though it’s impossible without actual tongue and teeth like human ones, and as well as the whole system. Breathing underwater with that tiny thing that gets oxygen from where?
I’m sure illogical stuff is something you shouldn’t worry about.
F5 double moa possible?
It should be thief. But seeing how S/D isn’t hated now and for some reason people believe it actually requires any skill, I think it might not be thief.
It will probably be some warrior build.
The level of ego and crud talk in this thread is why so few PvP in this game. It sucks the life and fun out of the game more than any build ever has.
Not just in this thread, but in the whole competitive scene too.
Anyway, turrets will switch to cele rifle or dd ele.
Actually, my understanding and experience is significantly different:
Novice players in PvP:
-When confronted with obviously bad players, these players rage at them in map chat
-Post on forums about how they get randomly paired with bad players
-Pretend like they’re competitive when they don’t compete in tournaments on a regular basis
-Rant when players don’t rotate according to how they think players should be rotating
-Ostracize people who don’t copy and paste their build off of metabattleSeasoned Players in PvP:
-Realize that people of varying skill levels yolo Q and don’t rage at them.
-Realize that raging at newer players is pointless and usually say nothing
-Recognize that yolo Q’ing runs the risk of being paired with baddies
-Does not post about the bad Q because it’s pointless
-Realizes that players do not need to run meta builds to gain experience PvP and improve
I 100% agree
As everyone here posts rigid class comps, I really hope, the meta becomes more open and defined around roles rather than builds.
That’s just not possible. The way it is now is that you have builds that can fill different roles. It will always be like that simply because winning is easier that way.
Why take a bunker support guardian whose only role is to help in teamfights when you can take a shoutbow warrior who can do that, win 1v1s and solo defend any point.
If they could they would let everyone in the world participate.
However, because of the legal reasons this probably won’t happen.
We’re trying to increase the competitive scene by encouraging people to play competitive Guild Wars 2 in the Go4Cups and the Academy Gaming weeklies.
I’m aware of that. But problem is that newcomers will always play against best teams in those tournaments in the first round. They will always get rekt and they will have no motivation to keep trying.
Randomising would motivate new teams a lot more. Just like in GW1
I’m sure it will be so much fun for casuals to be against Abjured, Orange Logo, etc. first round and lose 500-0
I think that in this tournament seeding should be completely random. All other tournaments are already seeded in a way that newcomers won’t ever have any chance of succeeding. That is a real reason why competitive scene is so small.
You should be able to let all legit teams participate. It doesn’t have to be exactly 128, it can be any number, you can always give some first round “byes”.
In a tournament this big it’s unfair not to let everyone participate.
64 teams?!
i can’t even find 64 different players when I que ranked
Sadly this is very true.
Old trait system is removed.
- Develope a macro to play Ocarina of Time on the flute.
OoT is either a game or an instrument within that game. So it’s not an actual song. Just saying.
Anyway, I don’t see why it’s a problem to tab out while waiting. You can complain on forums while you wait for your match!
Awesome update for pvp. New system is much better than current trait system.
New meta incoming after what will be almost 2 years! (maybe one and a half)
What if I want to be a free agent but can’t use a microphone?
Tab out and do anything you want?
As for streamers… good luck!
I propose the name change to: ToL 3: The Celestial One
I really hope they will nerf/remove the celestial amulet before the tourney starts. Then I would even try to win it, and the way it is now I have no motivation to even try.
Anyway, it’s good they are nerfing this, but they should also really remove the celestial amulet.
Them being able to be critically hit is a good change. It will also inspire more people to run zerker builds hopefully. You should do this.
If you want them to be vulnerable to conditions to bring them inline with other summons as you said then you should make it so the boons can be applied to them as well, don’t you think? Else it will be too big of a nerf (for supply crate too).
They should just remove the celestial amulet from PvP instead of balancing it. It would bring some diversity and higher skill requirement into PvP.
They have to know when to stop attacking. It’s obvious when a thief is going to refuge.
While I don’t think the OP’s suggestion is exactly the change we’re going to go with, I thought I’d drop by and let you all know that the effectiveness of turret engineer is something we’re looking into very closely right now. Once our plans are a bit more concrete I’ll give an update.
Have a good weekend,
Grouch
How about the effectiveness of celestial eles and engis? They are steamrolling the big tournaments, not the turret engis.
I never got more than one spam message from each person, so I really don’t see how reporting them would personally help with what OP is talking about.
I used to block them but lately I just ignore it. They all get banned within an hour anyway.
Help your team instead of trying to be a solo hero.
its not the first game i see with this poor decision…
The name choice needs to be right after the race/gender choices. In this order :
Race / gender / Name / availability check for the name / profession / etc ….Of course if the name check fail you go back at the name screen
so simple …
So what if you select a name and then just before you are finished creating the character someone else takes that name?
There is really no need for a forfeit button in a 10 minute match (or less).
Also, interesting thing about conquest mode is that there is always a chance for comeback.
/not signed
What about people so desperate to win to run celestial eles/engis all the time?
At least turret engi is not OP
1. Necro – Jery E
2. Guardian – Ishanah
3. Ranger – Rat Meta
4. Thief – Jumper X
5. Warrior – R O M
1. Removing automated paid and free tournaments from PvP.
2. Not sticking with season 1 formula.
I agree with this. It’s extremely annoying. Sure there are some well known locations where to place wurm but it’s still so limiting and it just shouldn’t be.
Fixerino pls.
Unranked shouldn’t even exist. There should be solo ranked and 5-man premade ranked. Also, hotjoin should be removed.
Everyone else could practice in custom arenas.
That would improve the quality of matches a lot. Also, many new teams would be formed because LFG system would have to be used for those parties of 2 or 3, etc.
It worked perfectly in GW1 that didn’t have a real LFG system, so it should work even better here.
I prefer conquest.
Stronghold feels like a dumbed down version of already casual PvP mode from GW1 called Fort Aspenwood.
I think visuals are just fine.
But I wish they would make big balance changes more often.
At least they kind of tried adding ladder and seasons…
Rocket and rifle turrets die in 2 seconds when attacked by a zerker class and then turret engi does absolutely no damage.
What is so overpowered in that?
Celestial ele/engi are the most OP builds ever made.
What’s the problem in fact ? Turret engineers ? Bunkers + Legacy of foefire ? People that do not know how to deal with builds mentionned ? Solo queue ?
Turret engineers are not a problem. They have no mobility and are extremely easy to counter. Just assign a person to hunt them from the spawn point, that will leave turret engineer completely useless while that assigned person can help out teammates while the engineer is on the respawn. And that’s just one of quite a few ways to counter the turret engineer.
… you can also simply autoattack and destroy rocket turret in 2 seconds with any zerker class. And if you really need to you can do the same to rifle turret. Without those turret engi can do absolutely no damage to you.
Bunkers are not a problem either. However, problem is when those bunkers also do high amount of damage.
Example:
bunker guardian = fine: it is quite tanky, supports teammates, gives stability and secure rezzes, but it does almost no damage at all besides retaliation
celestial ele = not fine: it has huge sustain, tons of fields and finishers, a lot more skills available, huge mobility, huge pressure, damage, protection, stability, burning, combine it all with doom sigil and an intelligent player and you get something that you just must have in a team if you want to win.
And yes, people don’t know how to deal with turret engineers and similar builds are the problem. It is also very sad to see that many top players don’t know how to deal with some builds and they insist on them being nerfed while they want their build to stay the same.
