I’m pretty much in the same boat with match win reward chests… They would be actually worth something if you didn’t have to spend glory to convert the trash crafting mats into dye’s.

It’s kind of sad if you consider these rewards would be equivalent to like thousands armor salvages in PvE.

Do you have a link to a developer post or a quote from the stream?

I find this hard to believe since this gives every single PvP’er SINCE LAUNCH 1 month to come back to the game and spend all their Glory/Crafting Mats. The tournament ticket vendor is still in the game so, removing glory/glory vendors so quickly makes light of glory rewards by comparison.

Will the Glory Rewards Vendor and/or the Rank Rewards Vendor be removed with the Apr. 15th patch?

Everyone I’ve asked seems to be under the impression that these vendors are going to disappear with the April 15th patch.

If they are, will glory get removed as well? It may as well, since there would be no way to spend it.

So came back to the game like a weeks ago and resumed doing my PvP dailies in Solo Queue. I do Solo Queue even though it might be slower, the games are more enjoyable. Also I’m pretty close to my Monthly and, lately I’ve been trying out PvE so, I’ looking forward to overall boost.

So, I lose the first game, and get sad that there are no rewards in PvP and that my games over the past week have been nearly pointless. I check the Monthly AND IT’S RESET. Wut?! Check the time and, it’s still 5 hours until April. It reset early. I LITERALLY had 3 game wins left!! Then I realize that, if I had been stomping newbies in hot joins, I would easily had the extra wins. Then it sinks in how many resources I just lost…Alt-F4

^^^Everything ends is spot on…it was always impossible to use up all your mats.

After I had used all my glory up getting as many skins/dyes as possible I still had loads of crafting materials left over.

That’s just the way it is, they will disappear on the 15.4.14 and soon be completely forgotten about, no big deal.

It is a big deal. This stuff is part of the hundreds of hours of PvPing many players did. The PvE equivalent would be if everything you got from salvaging exotics/rares was suddenly gone. The effects would be earth shattering.

Also, the MASS majority of players don’t constantly keep up with developer streams, patches or the forums. There are STILL people in the Mists asking why they’re not receiving Glory.

I don’t understand how people can be AGAINST this?! It’s just more options.

P.S. I think making Arcane Converters purchasable with gold would help a lot with spending the majority of everyone’s Mats. Where did the dev’s say PvP Mats were getting deleted?!

Make Arcane Converters and Consumable Tokens alternately purchasable with gold.

This would allow people with way more materials than glory to convert the excess to Unidentified Dye’s and then gold if they wish. This is especially true for those who were unprepared to transition to the new system.

P.S. Still don’t know what to do with the Rank or Armor/Wep Tokens.

I would love answers to these questions too. I have crap loads of PvP crafting materials but, with the removal of honor, I can’t really buy Arcane Converters or Consumable Tokens to make them into something useful.

It would be really nice if they just removed the Converters or Tokens from those recipes.

It would also be really nice if Glory Boosters were converted into Reward Track Boosters. PvE’ers benefit from Food/stat boosters, XP, Magic Find, Gold Find, WvW xp, Karma, and Strength boosters. Without Reward Track Boosters, PvP’ers will literally only have Magic Find….

:P Pretty much in the same position as ^ this person however, I managed to get a elementalist to 80 and dumped the character (don’t enjoy elementalist) Currently, I am leveling a warrior(at 40 now).

If I was to do WvW, I would NOT be interested in zerging (aka parties of 5+ people). A guild that PvP’s a bunch and uses the experience booster is a plus.

One of the reasons I played GW2 in the first place was the 0 barrier-to-entry for PvP. The ability to instantly reroll try out all classes, and learn all the builds out there.

All the changes made so far just seem to point to migrating the PvP populace over the PvE.

With the removal of Glory and the pitiful amounts of gold received, there seems to be little to no motivation to PvP. In other words, there are no rewards that benefit you in PvP. Previously, there was the anesthetic gear, but if you start PvP’ing now, your character will be literally exactly the same (PvP wise) as when you started.

To new players, you’re not going to win much (and therefore not much gold) so, it’s better to go back to PvE to progress.

For experienced players, gold is still useless in PvP, so it pushes PvP players into PvE to reap their rewards. Rewards also don’t transfer so, it promotes players STAYING in PvE to actually utilize their rewards.

I came back to the game like 2 days ago so, what’s happening and where is it going?

Ya, I’ve been looking for a purely sPvP guild lately too. I’ve been spamming every single solo queue match with it and unless your looking to be top 1000 it seems impossible to find one. Over 2 weeks of doing PvP dailies, I’ve gotten 2 whispers from guilds looking to be very competitive.

This breaks thier philosophy of leveling the playing field between new pvp’ers and veteran pvp’ers. Say a really good build is discovered with the new heals in it. Anyone even wanting to try it out has to level that class to 25.

Being able to swap classes/builds easily is a major reason I chose GW2 of other PvP games. I hate this decision. The more this kind of thing happens, the more likely I am to drop PvP completely.

So they said the idea was to reward PvPers along the lines of the average PvEers. I think this doesn’t give enough opportunity for the GREAT PvPers to earn the crazy cash that GREAT PvEers get.

The only way I can see to give equal opportunity is to reward more skilled PvPers with much rarer items (or exponentially more gold) for beating equally skilled PvPers. AKA When Matchmaking/Leagues are in place, heavily dish out gold/valuable items for the people at the top and proportionally at the middle and bottom.

Looking for an active sPvP guild to find some decent players to queue with during the evenings on NA. I usually play warrior but, I swap classes often (currently playing thief). I don’t care much about class composition as long as people understand their role relative to their spec. Not looking to be competitive but, if things work out, it’s all good. Ideally, a guild with scheduled PvP events on certain times of the day/week.

It is definetly not too late. The system just need to clarify the 3 tiers in percents instead of some score.

The percents are completely variable as well. You want them to be spread out enough so that the short term progression goals are fairly obtainable, yet they contain enough players so that when you are matched against a variety of teams, there isn’t such a wide array of leagues in the team. I would imagine gw2 would start out with 3 or 4 and slowly add leagues while making the existing leagues tighter/smaller % wise.

If they would use it on the current system, it is not authentic due to the very weak decay on the boards.

Even if the current ladder is flawed, it is more important to give players a something to work toward. A tread mill. A hook to keep playing. A Skill based progression system.

What matters is though if there are enough resources for it to happen (in the future).

That’s the beauty though, all they have to do is change a tiny graphic on an existing system, based on a persons leaderboard ranking and BAM. All the new players know where to look for advice and admire these better players. All the experienced players get instant respect. Every single sPvP’er get nice progression goals to work toward. Everyone gets something to work for.

Effectively, the majority of this has already been implemented. The progression system I am suggesting is similar to that of LoL/Starcraft 2. That being, it centers around the existing matchmaking system. The only thing that is missing is to make a player’s league instantly recognizable in game. This is actually incredibly important. The core of this system revolves around providing players with manageable milestones and allowing the community to recognize your skill. In Starcraft 2, this is done in the UI with the portrait border. This gives players a something to work toward. A tread mill. A hook to keep playing. A Skill based progression system.

TL;DR Use the Leaderboards to create a LoL/Starcraft 2 style league system and create a progression system on it’s own.

P.S. This could be implemented quickly and easily with the existing system that marks Anet dev nameplates. Just make them appear for everyone in the Mists with a different graphic based on leaderboard placing.

Is there any plan to adjust Asura size in tournament PvP? Currently, a significant amount of PvP’ers running as Asura. As spectator and player, I find it very difficult to identify the animations and determine what is happening. This problem is also compounded by a a high amount of particle effects.

P.S. Only see’ing Asura’s in competitive PvP is boring.

Ya, also in the patch the projectile combo’ing from the Longbow burst and Longbow auto attack was nerfed HEAVILY. Before you could get 2 fire applications on the Longbow ‘1’. Now it is just 1 and seemingly infrequent. Idk if these changes were targeted at the proc rate of all combo fields or specifically the warriors Longbow burst.

This is a really good idea; one that we’ve already talked a lot about. With templates, we’d want to give new players a few default builds to try instead of the one. Templates would also make highlighting other players’ builds much easier.

I think you need to suggest how to play each of these default templates. Like “Earn 10 Skimirsher Achievements” for Roamers or “Earn 10 Point Defender Achievements” for bunker builds. Maybe for back point defender builds suggest earning 5 Defender and 5 Skirmisher Achieves. Make the team fighter builds, get a bunch of Assists.

P.S. Maybe make a progression system out of this?

I’ve heard loads of crazy hacks used in WvW (the goon squad particularly). Also the only downed ability I need is Hundred Blades.

I too find that blocked/evaded stealthed attacks not revealing very intuitive. It just isn’t consistent with the rest of the game.

Retaliation is TOO OP

Retaliation was designed with the intention to counter AOE. It’s been said by the dev’s a couple of times and, if you look at most abilities that grant Retal, it becomes pretty clear. aka They grant Retaliation to allies. There are also many threads about Retal preventing AOE in WvW.

This is completely silly because, it’s so ineffectual at it that no one even realized it’s intended purpose. Instead we’re stuck on it’s primary side affect, and that is punishing multihit abilities. To clue you in, when it comes to the number of hits an ability’s has, it’s design is completely unrelated to Retaliation.

THAT is how poorly designed Retaliation is.

P.S. What about Melee cleave? Hasn’t a melee’er earned their AOE by you clustering and them capitalizing? Retaliation HEAVILY punishes that. Also what about condi-cleave? Isn’t that the primary issue these days?

My level 31 warrior still has the old tool tip as well (40 precision) so it doesn’t seem to scale to level. It doesn’t show any changes when used on the character sheet either, my prec stays the same whether I have the trait selected or not. So it looks like it’s bugged for now.

I’m having the same issue. Deep Strike appears to be bugged. Have not tested it explicitly though.

(Snuusnuu, just played with you) I agree with the general direction you’re taking the warrior and those types of buffs hit a deeper idea on where the warrior is envisioned. That being, a support/sustain role somewhat like the guardian. That’s also reflected in your retaliation changes but, the War still requires stability for it to happen.

Banners sorely need a change in general. I would hesitate on putting For Great Justice on a longer CD as it’s a primary source of Healing output when mixing it with the Shout Healing 30pt in Defense. I have to agree that Cleansing Ire being a side grade. I actually liked the original Adept more because of the availability for more specs.

I agree with the OP on Stun Breaks not negating Knockdown like they should. This is most evident with the new map (Skyhammer). Also I agree that Retal needs to be toned down or at least its damage is very misplaced. The devs designed Retal with the intention to reduce AOE. Retal has had a HUGE amount unintended consequences but, that’s a whole different topic all together.

Skyhammer: How to Hammer Room with Warrior CC

So, as a long time Warrior who’s spent the whole day rolling people in the Hammer room of Skyhammer, I’ld like to share with everyone what I found to work.

The Definite: I found Rifle and Hammer to work the best. These 2 weapons (especially Rifle) with Leg_Specialist are extremely deadly. Balanced Stance, Fear Me and Rampage are all really strong.

How to Play in the Room: The goal is to get someone onto the glass and then hit them with a Hammer_3 or a Rifle_2, which will be an Immobilize with Leg_Specialist. Your opponent, will then typically fall to their death. You need to wait for the right moment they don’t have stability and have glass behind them to Rifle Butt them or Hammer_5 into Hammer_4. Against a player with Stability, you want to keep your back to the entrance or the control panel and wait for just the right moment. When using the Skyhammer, it’s important to keep an eye on the entrance of the room so you don’t get caught off guard. It’s also important to keep an eye on Thieves near the entrance because they can stealth and enter the room without being seen. Feed info to your team, as you can see the entire field.

Tips: You can wedge yourself into the door crack of the entrance to avoid being CC’ed off. You can always exit the room. Be very wary, of another Warrior, Guardian Hammer, Scorpion Wire, Engis, and Mesmer pulls/Knockbacks.

The Rest of the Spec: Just about everyone knows the strength of Knockbacks and Fear but don’t know how critical Leg Specialist is with finishing people off. If you really want to dedicate yourself to it, roll a Soldier’s Amulet and stall for that right moment to hit them onto the glass.

I have muscle memory from my Engi use use wep swap to drop any kit that’s out. It would be nice if that translated to my Necro. As far as I see the wep swap button is just greyed out on Death Shoud (not used). That button is used a ton to drop forms in PvE too.

These retreating abilities that give a sudo invulnerability. The Warriors innate health pool becomes weaker and easy targetability becomes worse the more people in a battle there are and the longer the battle goes on while these escape utilities retain their value.
