Hello Anet!

I would be very grateful if you added new colors and cuts of underwear to the gem store. Norn underwear are just plain ugly. Human Women are fine, but I am sick of yellow and would prefer white, black or red. For my males I would like a choice of boxers or briefs and I want some black briefs.

1) I leveled mine through crafting then went back through the world once I was capped. You get downscaled, but you are still very powerful and can easily blow through all the mobs, which I like. I don’t like leveling as in I don’t like “having to level” hanging over my head so I do it as fast as possible. I dont do it to bypass questing (since I do it anyway) .. just don’t like it. It’s a quirk of mine. Nothing is wrong with ust organically leveling through experiencing the world and as a matter of fact that’s what I recommend for a new player.

2) Many pets for you to get.

3) I honestly don’t know as I am from USA and only play on NA servers.

4) The best class for you will be the class you click with. Luckily in this game you can roll any character and after a short introduction you can go to the mists and test drive your character at level cap by hitting on training dummies and those sparring characters that fight back. Sometimes people will not be as ready to accept you to groups based on the class you play. The ranger is one of those classes. Elementalists and Guardians are often in high demand. Those are two fun classes to me. Warrior is boring, Engineer is an enigma to me. Necros are fun. Warriors are boring. I straight up don’t like the Mesmer. Just my opinion on some classes.

5) In my opinion, guilds can make the game fun. You have people to talk to and many guilds do dungeons and events together which can make the game more enjoyable. If you are new and not confident in your ability, running with guilds can help because you are less likely to be removed from groups for dying a lot. Having that happen can really crush your confidence and take some fun out of the game.

6) Yes this is a very active game with a lot of players. I always see people out in the world and there are always conversations in map chat. Groups are very easy to find. These forums are active. The devs seem to care about the game and interact with the community.

7) Items here are color-coded like in many other MMOs. Some items are rarer than others.

Don’t worry. Him saying all that despite you clearly stating you still enjoy the game then going on to post some cheesy gif of some trite, worn-out forum saying about ‘beating a dead horse’ is just a tactic to make you upset or feel bad for posting your thoughts about the game.

I agree with you in that stacking can be somewhat immersion breaking and it does sometimes feel like a shoddy way to do a boss fight. I just usually go with the flow and kill the boss however the group wants to kill it because for me arguing with people in the game is even more immersion breaking still. It would be nice if non-stacking fights were designed in the future.

If you are just browsing these forums wondering in you should buy GW2, in my opinion you should, especially considering an expac is on the horizon.

I play WoW and TOR, and neither one really compares to GW2.

WoW’s community is terrible, the game is about NOTHING but loot. Blizzard doesn’t have confidence in their ability to create compelling content so they entice people into doing it with loot. Your character has a rating associated with it called “item level” and that increases as you get better loot. In WoW you are nothing but your item level, that’s all you are as a player. The game is full of loot ninjas, people who do shady things to deprive you of loot you deserve. It’s ALL loot. Also the game is extremely overpriced and while many can Cite Anet for some greedy practices with the Gem Store, they are nothing compared to Blizzard. Blizzard had the nerve to charge $50 for an expansion that has less content than past expansions that were $10 less. All the good mounts and pets introduced to the game are not obtained by playing the game, but are put in a store. Mounts are $25! Just for a mount. To illustrate how greedy Blizzard is, understand this: To get access to ALL content, that is all mounts pets, transmog (cosmetic) gear you have to 1) Buy the serial 2) pay a sub and 3) order from the store. Also, again, the community is horrible. Their chats are full of racism, sexism, homophobia and general badmouthing each other.

TOR has a nice story (if you like Star Wars) and the community is not bad, but has very little replay value and they nickle-and-dime with their store. I mean they way they run that store is a racket. Guess they are trying to make up for how hard it failed, but the store just looms ever present. The classes are clunky feeling and the performance of the game leaves a lot to be desired. Hope you like lag.

The main problem with GW2 is no trinity, which means when you play this game, you pretty much have to be DPS. DPS can get mind-numbingly boring, but thankfully the way Anet designed a lot of these classes makes them very fun to play. Dungeons are fun, but you must rely on twitch mechanics to stay alive. Basically you just pretty much dodge around and watch your feet and you’ll live.

The GW2 community is probably one of the best of any of the popular MMOs.

DPS players are a dime-a-dozen and absolutely flood every MMO with a trinity. This is because DPS is the easiest role with the least amount of responsibility. GW2 is a game that caters to those DPS players and the last thing they want to see is a trinity where since they are as common as sand on a beach they’ll have to wait in some queue.

It’s much easier for them to say “ZOMG Zerg everything, oh wow my numb3rsz massive killed mobs ultra fast. pwned”

What is cheaper/easier to change? -> traits!

Keep zerker, change your build, until you are comfortable enough.

no no I am not trashing str runes. the str runes are on my zerker gear and I will leave those runes alone and just store it in the bank for now. I am putting scholar runes on the new soldier’s gear.

Here’s what I am gonna do. I am gonna keep zerker’s jewelry and weapons, but I am gonna get all soldiers chect, shoulders, legs, etc. I will replace strength runes with 6 superior scholar runes.

If this game had healing I would be hopelessly addicted. GW2 is an amazing game, but DPS only holds my interest for so long. I take a 3 or 4 month break and come back. I understand the soft trinity thing and all, but if they ever make support more viable (let me use clerics gear on ele for instance), this game will achieve greatness imo. Still GW2 is a rock solid game that I recommend to others, ESPECIALLY people who love DPS which is like “90%” of the MMO community.

QQ almost everything I read said go full zerker now I have like 12k HP and my toon dies if a mob so much as stares at him. Cooldowns only get me but so far because I’ll probably die in between them.

I am Zerker EVERYTHING. What should I do? Swap out my weapons? My zerker trinket cost like 60g! Silly me.

Some survival tips please. Gold is no issue.

It seems even the so-called soft trinity has been neglected. Most, not all, but most as in the vast majority of content seems to be “go full out DPS.” Why cant I spec into a more support build, get some cleric’s gear and be viable? I hope raids brings this to the table. DPS, DPS, and more DPS – it stops this game from achieving greatness imho.

Raids are supposedly coming to GW2, so will support (read: healing) become more of a factor or will raids be pretty much like dungeons where mobs just run around and people dodge desperately waiting for their personal heal to come off CD?

Thief was my first class and that was really fun. I also like the elementalist, they have a pretty steep learning curve, but nothing you can’t handle.

Remember, you can roll whatever class you want, get through the tutorial and test drive it in the PvP area (mists).

I wanna second what GuzziHero says and recommend Tarnished Coast. Right now server pop says “Very High” so get on now before it moves to “Locked.”

Yes it does. GW2 is a great niche game, and has a sort of cult following. I don’t say that in any demeaning way, actually that’s a benefit of the game in my opinion. I am glad this game is more low-key, that I don’t see celebs advertising it during Monday Night football and that South Park episodes aren’t based off GW2. Beyond all that, for me, it’s hard not to get sucked into the beautiful world and compelling lore – and I know I am not alone by a long shot

GW2 may not have a future as the “number 1” MMO or anything like that, but this game will be around for years to come.

Okay, okay… aside RP honest question: I am not much of a wvw’er. But if we wanted to do that in the fiture what is it like if we are on a realm under t2 or 3? Does wvw absolutely stink on a server like that?

Hey guys, I need to know what is the best server in the game that’s not Tarnished Coast. See I really like RP, but TC, as you know, is high ranked in wvw so it’s almost impossible to get in, this doubly so with this tournament thing going on.

So, I ask you, in terms of a strong (read: NICE) community what North American server is closest to TC’s awesome community? I know about the Mega Server thing but read this:

Seems that even with mega servers you are give preference to playing with people from the server you select. Bear in mind that witing is 5months old so something may have changed.

Either way, I am looking for a realm that although not established as the de-facto RP realm, still has some RP nonetheless, or they are at least somewhat open-minded toward RP’ers.

I hear Sanctum of Rall and Gate of Madness has a bit of Taven RP going on… can someone conform/deny.

There is, the Tarnished Coast, which is the de-facto RP server in GW2. However, with Megaservers the RP community has been somewhat scattered, sadly.

…or you could simply cut out the middle man, saving a programmer from a small headache in the process, and just ask the player what items they have on.
You’ll probably be doing this after you’ve inspected them anyway…so why wait?
‘Asking’ promotes community interaction too (so a double plus there for communication!)

Just asking them is not the same as seeing the character in cosmetic inspection window where you can zoom and rotate the character, etc. Such a feature could well stimulate conversation; if you inspect and like their outfit, THEN you’re likely to open up conversation. Even if it didn’t it’s still a pretty nifty feature to add to the game, imo.

Also, that wouldn’t be a “headache” for many devs since most love what they do, especially in the gaming industry

I have two little suggestions here and the first would be to add an inspect character feature. No, no, no — nothing that shows gear slots like WoW or some other MMOs, just something that allows the player to open a window and visually inspect another character, no stats, achievements or anything else – just a visual of that char – In short, an inspect feature for COSMETIC purposes only. Many GW2 characters are so pretty and I believe that would just be an awesome feature instead of orbiting other players on foot… ESPECIALLY since I cannot zoom into 1st person (which is something else we should have, imo).

Second, and I feel this one is very important, players should be given the option to fill out an in-game profile for their character. If you are at all familiar with the WoW RP scene you may be familiar with an addon called “MRP.” What MRP does is allow the player to create a profile for their character with such information as character height, weight, age, nickname and you can even add a few paragraphs describing your character while providing a backstory. In WoW people often abuse this addon filling it with ERP, but I feel as if a report profile feature was added and it was an official Anet creation that had a report profile feature people would shy away from filling it with smut or other objectionable material.

What’s more is this does not have to necessarily be for RP. If you are looking for a guild, looking for friends, looking to PvP, looking to recruit for a guild or anything, you could just put it in your profile – right there in-game.

What this feature would do is give players a convenient tool that could be used to get to know each other, and furthermore an in-game character profile is a great ice breaker. Also, there is no official RP server in this game (which has been made worse considering Megaserver), and such a profile would allow RP’ers to easily hook up without relying on outside sites. Megaserver has scattered GW2 RP’ers into the wind! This could help bring us together.

It does not seem like either one of these features would be hard to add to the game, and ideally it would be totally optional.

I love the lore of this game, I love the community, and I believe this would be a great addition to bring the community closer together.

So I just rolled a Ranger, but I cannot rename her pet. I see it says K open the pet tab, I verified K was bound to that, my K obviously works, but no pet tab opens.

Alright I only know Tarnished Coast, so what’s another really good server with a great community. Maybe I’ll just have them roll on another server and I transfer my char there.

I will admit I am somewhat confused about how Megaservers work. Asacledhae is saying there are no servers (and I am not refuting that), but if there are no servers why is it asking them to select a server with some being marked high pop, medium, full, etc.?

Since that tournament is going on does Anet keep the server locked @ full? I am seeing some stuff on the net that says they mark server population by accounts on the server and not the amount of actual people logged on, is that true?

That’s what we’ll do, Fay. Either that or just have them roll anywhere and delete the char and transfer later as someone else suggested. They aren’t in massive rush to play today so it’s all good.

As TC is one of the bigger servers for WvW to my understanding, your best bet would be to wait untill after the Tourney which ends in 4 weeks.

There’s no such thing as Tarnished Coast server for PvE anymore, it’s all Megaserver, your caring or not has nothing to do with this objective fact.

You can meet with anyone on any NA server without guesting. In the event you aren’t automatically assigned the same Megaserver, you can join through the party UI with 2 clicks (being in the same guild and on each other’s friends lists should generally cause you to be placed in the same Megaserver anyway).

I have never really did WvW seriously, but it I did, I would probaby RP there. I RP everywhere. I don’t know what I am gonna get into playing with them.

Look, either way is there another de-facto RP server in NORTH AMERICA? I really enjoyed TC and I at least want to know they are on the same server with me.

I mean it really doesn’t matter what server you are on since all the maps are all pretty much connected via the megaserver, even the guilds are server wide… You can easily just play with them if they go on another server like SoS or something. It doen’t seem like you care much for doing WvW which would be the only reason I could think of trying to get on the same server as each other. Yeah. Looks like they wasted $40 each buying this game from Gamestop.

So Rouven is right in that we can wait till later tonight or some crazy off hours and perhaps the server might not be marked as full, right? Those distinctions DO change throughout the day, correct?

I want my BF and sister to be on the Tarnished Coast with me.

I got both of them to get accounts but when they try to go to the Tarnished Coast server it’s telling them “full” and they cannot make characters there. That is the only server I have played on it’s the de-facto RP realm, and THAT’S THE SERVER WE WANT.

Megaserver? I don’t care. I want RP.

So please tell me there is another de-facto RP realm in this game? Or please tell me that those distinctions like “full” change throughout the day. Can we try to get on there really early in the morning or something? I am a Tarnished Coast player, I have loved that server since I first started and I want us all there.

Ughhh, my biggest gripe about MMOs across the board is that there is always so much red tape associated with them. “You can’t do this” You can’t do that" “You can only do this is the stars and the moon are all aligned.”

How do I get my family on the Tarnished Coast? If there is no way is there another RP friendly server?

Sorry for the rant type deal, but this just kinda kittened us all off.

EDIT: If anything please tel me the servers most associated with PvP… I want to avoid that like the plague.

Thanks, Cyndre. I think I am gonna stick with regular old air cooling for now. In addition to posting here, I have been doing a bit of reading and research about liquid cooling it seems to not be worth the time, money and risk – but I’ll keep learning more about it. I may change my mind.

Look, I don’t see a section on this forum about computer hardware and stuff like that, but I figured I could ask my question here:

I would like to know what you folks think about liquid cooling for computers. Is it safe? Is it worth it?

I don’t overclock, but I like ROCK SOLID ultra reliable machines that can be run virtually 24/7 and last for years. My main reason for wanting liquid cooling is because it keeps my proc cooler, thereby extending its life and the main reason is because liquid cooling helps to keep dust out of my case.

So, tell me… what is your take on liquid cooling, and if you know of an ultra reliable solution let me hear it.
