I feel the exact same vvizard. It’s a complete nightmare for us having to simply abandon the game because of crap like this.

No mention from ANet other then the aforementioned stating do delete .dat and change language. It seems they don’t have any idea either, and don’t care to fix it.

I also have this problem, I’m scouring the forums looking for an answer and all I see are the same ones, the same links to ANet non working advice.

New and returning players are simply discarded for reasons only God will know.

Don’t bother making a ticket, all mine have gone un answered for infinite amounts of time. Only when you respond with, I NO LONGER NEED HELP, do you get some sort of auto response acknowledging it.

This is happening to me too, just downloaded the game again and am getting the exact same problem as the OP.

Arena’s is something this game sorely misses and is something that it undeniably needs. The amount of PvP’rs is lackluster due to the fact of there not being any. There would be an instant increase in player numbers (and there for in game purchases) if they were to introduce it. I myself (among countless others I personally know) are waiting for that day so I can come back to the game. Until that day I just come to these forums once every couple months, waiting and hoping.

I know no one will miss me, I’m just another number who has un-installed the game.
But the combination of lackluster PvP updates, stale meta, simple game types and much more has finally driven me to this point. I was coming back every so often to play but this will be my last. Nothing changes every time I come back, and the queue’s are severely broken even after the supposed fixes ages ago. I could go on all day about the things that are wrong (and need changing) with pvp but they will only fall onto deaf ears. And even if changed nothing will get back the players at this stage. The game has died for me, and it’s time to move on.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time and the love for my toon will never be forgotten.

Thank you for the memories, Memser will forever be by far my most favourite class to ever exist in an rpg.

My case is with the new system, I went from around rank 600 before the new system, to about 350 after the first day, and since then I’ve just lost and lost.. and lost games. I have to simply put it to me been really bad at this game type. I won’t change my build or my way of play for anything, I would rather quit then play the meta. I enjoy how I play, but I hate the game. More so now then I ever have. My playtime in the game no longer constitutes fun any more.

Sad but true.

If World of Warcraft had a mesmer class, I’d go back to it. The only thing keeping me is that I love mesmer.

Ive played nearly 20 games today, won only 2 games. A lot of 4v5’s on my team, a whole lot of unbalanced games. My MMR is now beyond kitten, yet still get into 500 – 100 games.

I can honestly say that I am not having fun, and the only reason I keep pushing the queue up button is from sheer frustration. I started at rank 350 odd, with 400 games played.. and now I think I am around rank 1000. I feel useless and completely demoralised.

Does this answer mean that arena is something you guys like to talk about, but unwilling to support via it’s own mode, prefering to simply let players organise their own tourni’s?

With only one game type, with the whole premise on defending, there will always be builds taking advantage of the whole mechanic surrounding defending.

Everyone would like to see more game mode diversity, just look at the game modes topic.. let’s just hope it wasn’t all for nothing.

Best idea imo is to offer different competitive modes, the only reason people are playing it is because it’s the ONLY option..

I feel really sorry for you Michael I don’t understand why everyone is hating on you. I see this all the time, and feel the exact same. I too don’t care about LB, I was rank 350, now I’m ranked 750+, I’ve also put a ridiculous amount of time into PvP. I too think that the matchmaking is still flawed, better.. but still flawed. Nothing is perfect though, and I believe it is simply the game type which is messing things up. If things were on a smaller scale, such as 3v3 or 2v2 with no capture objectives, you’d see a huge shift in fun because you won;t be so dependent on the people you’re teamed with.

As it is atm with the current competitive YOLO queue is even if you’re god walking among men, if you get a team of really low skilled players there is nothing you can do but try to talk into deaf ears, watching them feed 5 points per spawn.

Backstabs hit glass mesmers for 10k+, add cloak dagger 4k, steal and lightning proc, on a mesmer using berserker ammy, mesmer is down INSTANTLY. That mean’s no time to blink away, no time to even wipe your butt! And it is the backstab builds which are getting buffed.

What mesmers can do is NOTHING in comparison to the burst dps a thief does.

It is without a doubt the theif is the apex predator for our roll.

I’m a stickler for getting cool looking stuff from the gem shop or auction house for PvP. I’ve so far only got the demon wings and they look really cool. I was wondering if there were any other things I can buy to enhance my look? Other then the new Toxic stuff they don’t really fit my image. I’ve seen some people with holographic items, are these purchasable?

What other nifty looking stuff can you buy?

Id honestly like to know how many PvP’rs have been lost over this fiasco.. I personally know of 3..

In temple of the silent storm, a necro’s flesh Golem took me from 100% to 0% almost instantly. I looked at the combat log and damage screen and seen this..

Unless necro can make flesh golem go berserk somehow, I think this might be a bug. This happened about 2 minutes ago, and I immediately come to post it here. If this is not a bug, I apologise please delete thread, but I haven’t seen it before in all my pvp experience.

I have a friend stuck in an infinite loop of losing, he tells me his team mates will all zerg the first node and cap it together. With team mates like that you’re simply stuck there forever since those are the team mates you will always get.

It’s not his fault, he refuses to play a meta to help get himself out, and why should he? He is nearly at the point of quitting the game for this, it’s only because I keep telling him, ANET will fix it soon, that he clings to hope.

Also the fact that you can’t restart your MMR is really harsh. When you’re in that blackhole rating, there is simply NOTHING you can do to get yourself out.

I’m all for this, I won’t be up there in the top 200, but I’d play these game modes religiously. I have friends waiting for 2v2 and 3v3 to release before they come back to play and I’m sure it will garner a load of attention since it is more smaller scaled, and easier to organise teams for.

Just so long as you cannot use instant rez’s it should be okay. Or give the option to every profession.

This is how my evening games go. Because I sit at around rank 1000, I always get the newbies. I range from rank 800 in the mornings to sometimes 75% if I just crunch games at night.

Need bigger maps so people can roam a it better. As it is, spvp maps are tunnels.

Yeh I have the same feelings, morning queue’s are really good I’m paired with same skilled players and I climb ranks. When I play during the evening, I might as well just afk.. the games are so kitten. I lose everything I work for. It seems like once morning is over, anything after that means skating on thin ice with hot blades.

What is this skill, and why is it possible to have a condi last so long? It stops out of combat healing, and ticks for huge poison damage.

A general benchmark of hours played (with those using xfire)

It’s a good source of game popularity, I wouldn’t say GW2 is sitting at a bad spot at all. But I assume most of those hours are been used on PvE.

They’d get my gem money if they added usable PvP cosmetic stuff, like the wings. I bought gems just to get them off the auction house.

I’d do it again for other things if they had some nifty looking stuff.

When you’re rewarded PvE items in PvP, it can only mean one thing.. they want you to PvE. I mean, why would they give something that is unusable in PvP but is usable in PvE..

I think it’s very silly when there isn’t a lot of PvP’rs as it is..

I’m ranked 894.

They will always have higher chances of winning, simply because there is no one above rank 1, so they will ALWAYS get matched against players below themselves, and therefore will have pretty much 100% win rate. That’s cool and all, for those guys, but for us… yeh we are just slaughter meat. In order to rank up all you have to do is play and ta da !! Easy games, easy life !!

I have to ask myself, what does this game have to offer me, as someone who isn’t the greatest player.

1. I like to play ranked games, but it’s countered by a completely broken matching system.

2. I like to work towards something meaningful, this is simply non existent.

3. I like to play the build I find fun, and I am punished for doing so.

This game has nothing to offer me. I can’t justify spending any time on gw2 any-more.

I was at the 86th percentile before I got into the top 1000. That means there are only 10,000 players (roughly) who play solo queue.

This number makes me so sad knowing how non popular it is. =(

Easy fixed, put diminishing returns after 2 or 3 stuns in quick succession. Maybe within 2 seconds.

I’m so glad we’re not the only ones to feel this way. I also keep quitting and coming back hoping something has changed, I stick around for a few weeks and get bored. Leave, come back in a few months and do it all over again. As someone said earlier in the thread, the PvP is too shallow. It really is, 1 game type? Come on…

It’s been a year, please give us more… I hate leaving, coming back, leaving, coming back… it cuts into my soul doing this only because of stale PvP. I was hooked at the start of this game because of the whole PvP centred advertising and such, but it’s not delivering…

Jonathon Sharp must think, these guys just don’t get it. We say we’re doing this and trying that, but what he doesn’t seem to understand is what is fun. Fun is more game types, fun is more players coming because of these game types. Fun is casually face rolling your keyboard against other face rollers. Cater to the professionals after your casuals are numerous and interested, it’s better for the game imo. The illusions of grandeur because of E-Sports isn’t working. There is no base of viewers because there are dwindling casuals!

2v2 3v3, deathmatch, these are fun. Don’t include them in your E-Sports plan, keep your crummy node defending for it if you’d like, but please let us have some fun with new game types.. !!

I am always against Cruuk, out of the maybe 10 games I play per day, he is on at least 2 of them. Always against me mind you.

Cruuk is ranked 252, me.. not even on the leaderboards. Every time I come against him, we get kitten d. Like it’s not even a competition. It’s not a call out to him, it’s simply an example of how broken the matchmaking is.

Why do I have to suffer against teams destined to beat mine. Why is it even an option for it to happen? The reason why the players % wins is so high towards the top end, is because the ones like myself have to suffer in games we’re destined to lose, and are simply food for them.

Why play a game mechanic that seems to cater only for one side? The current system seems to… get a bunch of similar ranked players, and then put them either against another team of similar ranked players, who are drastically higher, or drastically lower. It’s never even..

I ask.. what the flying kitten!

My highest character level is 21.. I don’t PvE. I’m simply suggesting something which might help encourage PvE’rs to participate in PvP. People consistently shun out every audience but for 1, then complain about no one playing. So I thought I’d make a suggestion which could help. As I said, you don’t need to queue for it.

no thanks, not interested in giving pve’ers 10k rank per day. This is pve content and I have 0 interest in this whatsoever.

It doesn’t need to be 10k rank, it’s just a number. Everything can be tweaked.

I was wondering what it would be like to introduce a small, 1 single boss type dungeon that you can solo queue for, needing maybe 3-8 players. In order to solo queue, it costs 10 tourney tickets, or 1000 glory, or some currency strictly tied to PvP. Said dungeon consisting of the single boss. Something really difficult to beat, something that can only be accessed for queue in heart of the mists.

A boss that you can only do once a day, which rewards a tourney chest and 10,000 rank points or something similar which equates to the effort you put in. Much like Vault of Archavon is/was in World of Warcraft. (It was the only raid I ever did, and I’d do it in PvP gear) Just something different you can do once a day/week w.e, that is strictly for those who reside in Heart of the Mists.

Not something hugely fantastic so it’s not taking anything away from PvE, but something which can also help attract PvE’rs to Heart of the Mists at least once a day and also encourage participation by the use of PvP currency in order to queue for.

It can be built upon in the future, and if you don’t want to do it you don’t have to. It rewards nothing you can get yourself through normal hot-joins.

What do you guys think?

If its a random hotjoin for 2v2, or 3v3, then if you come against 2 thieves or whatever, that is just luck of the draw.

Thanks for the reply Jonathon, but how long do we have to wait for said treasure’s.. I don’t wanna be strung along.. I feel as if I’ve been strung along since the beginning waiting for content to come along that didn’t. Each patch has been a consistent downer for my friends and I, thinking that something different is coming along.

I need some meat to show, to get them to come back. This game’s PvP is the greatest out there, honestly, but it doesn’t get enough resources.

This 1 game type in PvP is not only getting old, it is HURTING the community. It hurts because it promotes 1 style of play… BUNKERING. It has been such a long time since game release and still there is only one type of game mode.

Please explain to me where the fun is coming up against a team full of bunkers. You either need to have just as many bunkers or need to co ordinate on a level which is impossible in single queue hot join.

Why are we deprived of the game types all the other PvP games have? Where is Death Match, Capture the Flag, Golden Gun, 2v2 3v3 4v4..

I’m not saying to ditch the node defending game type, keep it. If people like that, then let them all bunker together. But can the rest of us, who like to have something different, have other options.. please? Going from one game to another, just because of the lack of game types.. is getting old. Eventually, I won’t come back.

Why are we subjected to this Bunker or go home style of game play mentality ?

I have logged on less and less each day, I only like to pvp casually, but it has got boring now, to the point where I don’t log on any more =(

I started to do some solo tpvp queuing the last few days and have now decided that I will never again bother. I feel like I am just meat for the slaughter of well organised premades. The difference is so huge that it is literally pointless to play, and I wonder why it is even possible to do when all it is, passed round 1, is pug vs premade.

It seriously feels like;
- Bronze SC2 player vs Diamond SC2 player
- 1300 MMR vs 1600+ MMR (HoN)
- 1500 rating vs 2k+ rating (WoW)

You get the drift, utter pointlessness, and is hugely unfair. If the job was to completely discourage solo tpvp queuing, then well done because you have succeeded with me. I won’t bother with it again.
