My issue with this isn’t that items like this are locked behind a grind it is that ALL skins they add in this game more or less are sitting behind a huge grind or the gem store, I get the company has to make money but you’re really gonna charge me 150 gems for a festive hat for the holidays? Items like that with little prestige that are only seasonal can’t be earned during seasonal events?
Maybe some of you lore buffs can help me out I don’t know the extent of the human gods powers but apparently just staring at them can blind you and abaddon apparently turned the great crystal sea into a desert which sounds very similar to kralky corrupting everything with just his breath. My question is why do you guys think the human gods fled when my human ranger and his band of misfits are able to take down dragons? I know the dragons consume magic and the gods are highly magical but it seems like they would be able to take down the dragons or at least be on level with them unless dragons just naturally sap energy from them just by being
same thing can be said about caithe from before, or how the represent all sylvari out of game, they dont actually look that good lol
I get gating things like map completion behind masteries that’s fine, I paid for your game and I’m going to enjoy it, I would however enjoy it ALOT more if the story wasn’t gated behind masteries. I love the gw2 story and for me to have to farm the amount of exp you want me to I will pretty much be logging in after work for a couple of hours a night farming exp and not even leveling the mastery 1/4 of the way and log out, not to mention if I want HoT masteries I can’t do things like fractals or dungeons I have to go farm world events I’ve already farmed time and again just because they’re not a part of vanilla gw2. It was a really poor decision to gate story behind masteries and if gw2 survives another 3 years for another expansion I’m just crossing my fingers you’ll change things this next time around.
I’ve actually had the Squawkums kill me, by itself, in the duration of that taunt. It was a sad, sad day.
please dont spread misinformation like that, the people who ‘work’ on ranger will take it seriously, i dont want my only pet that hits a moving target to get nerfed
The underlying system of combat is built around area attacks. This is why the majority of base weapon attacks strike multiple targets in the affected area, unlike other games which strike one target – the one you have selected. Our system makes things like positioning and facing far more important and engaging; this also means that the concept of ‘AoE’ is not as easy to distinguish and thus handle in different ways.
That said, we are currently looking at systemic ways to help with player pet and minion survivability.
if you’re argument is alot of attacks are aoe so that’s too many attacks my pet takes less damage from i disagree, any class can kill my pet in a handful of attacks a better idea would be for my dead pet to not go on a 60s cd on swap and instead keep it at 20s, there’s no reason to have our class mechanic knocked out for a minute
Please make the tiger’s pounce fury effect 600 radius like the jungle stalkers roar, this is a screen of me using it on a husk and i dont get the fury unless im literally standing on him, 240 radius is just too small.
In that pic not even 600 would give you fury.
This pet already stepping on red moa toes, maybe quickness or boon removal shouts!

you get it by healing use troll unguent and watch it increase, everything on staff pretty much heals that’s why it goes up so much faster, reviving also fills it
If you are standing next to a minimum of 3 people with the “Lingering Light” trait and spam your “Solar Beam”, the wisp will spawn and will grant you resource towards your celestial form, even if no healing is being applied to allied players.
you dont even need the trait, i was standing on top of a player in heart of the mists pressing 1 and filled my cele form, you can do it on your pet too

Did people not hear in the druid reveal that the guy playing that druid had no amulet, that guy was cranking out those heals with literally no stats. Unless of course they lied about the ammy, which I’ll be honest is something they might do
I just really hope they’ve put time and effort into regular ranger pets i dont want to HAVE to take druid just to get my pet to work if it isnt optimal in certain scenarios

my ranger do… 1 block, 5 evades and 1 LONG invuln.. not even counting traits or normal dodges or anything
Well its interesting that you count hornet sting as an evade since the delay on it gets you dead. Also signet of stone is not an invuln you can still get condi bombed unless you were talking about protect me, I don’t know if that absorbs condi damage or not because I believe in managing my pet and not killing them so I haven’t used that skill since launch

I am so salty about Druid being last. I love my Ranger, she is in full ascended, with an ascended staff with the fractal skin waiting in anticipation for the skill set, yet I cannot see what it is yet because Ranger is ANet’s least favorite class. I want my elite spec already!

There aren’t any scenarios where Axe will outdps sword there are situations where I would take a/a over s/a For example uncategorized fractal when you’re fighting shaman and ettin sotp+qz for 25 stacks of might almost instantly and swap to lb for double rapid fire. Just because it isn’t meta doesn’t mean it only has 1 useful skill and there aren’t situations where it can’t be used

Axe on ranger isn’t melee, its a mid range projectile weapon
taunt is pretty much broken, going through evades, blocks, blinds and has no casting time/animation while being on a cooldown of 15s. many rangers try to defend this trait because it makes them feel like they can be good with it because it removes the need of actually having to land your pet immobs or knockdowns to burst. rangers should get buffs but not stuff like this that angers the whole rest of the community.
Taunt does interrupt evades and I will give it to you that that’s bs, it does not go through blocks, I’ve tried many times on guardians running shelter and it doesnt interrupt it, you can outrun a pet without swiftness so if you’re standing still to get caught with it in pvp you probably deserved to die anyways, the skill itself doesnt go through blinds, it is an aoe it gets everything within that radius and it’s a pet skill, so if you blind my ranger why should it cause my pet to miss, people need to get over it everytime ranger gets something nice, necros can fear, mesmers can stealth and invuln and reflect, guardians can stack 16 ticks of burning traited for it, thiefs pistol 3 can hit me through my only block skill, dunno about aegis since my class cant do that either. Tell me what class you play and ill name something you have that i’d like on my class, but I won’t call it OP just because it might cc me for 2 seconds.
I don’t see what argument there is to be had, if you’re casual and don’t like raids that’s fine you don’t have to get legendary armor I don’t like to mindlessly grind or trading post flip or map complete but I have to do all of those if I want a legendary weapon. If you don’t want to learn the raids you aren’t going to get the armor, the day I can log in and get a gift of exploration just for completing lions arch is the day I’ll start taking these arguments seriously

Yeah, Rangers were in a good place when you could run a longbow build that hammered out 25k dmg rapid fires, but since the trait overhaul in preparation to HoT, that’s no longer possible so folks are going back to the older, less effective builds.
I could get 12-15k on squishy if every single shot landed, didn’t get any dodges, misses, blocked, out of range etc in full zerk. What were you running for that?!
He could of been talking about PvE scenarios, in which case i still hit 25k rapid fires so I don’t know what he’s complaing about
I ran spirits sometimes when they were a thing in pvp but now that they aren’t i would never consider putting it on my bar, if i wanted swiftness THAT bad i’d buy a sigil lol
Are traps any good at all in SPvP? They’ve worked out OK for me in small fights in WvW, but I might just have been fighting, um, novices.
Works pretty much the same in pvp. You will be pretty successful if you have a low mmr, but it’s pretty weak against good players. You’ll almost always catch someone at the start of the fight but once they know what you are running people will start to dodge roll through points to trigger your traps.
You can still destroy people when +1’ing a fight though and you can force everyone off point in team fights.
Not really that’s where taunt comes in.
If you’re decent player on point with settler amu + trap you should win any 1v1 encounters except good necro that transfer conditions.
Because you preload your traps, have loads of chills (frost trap 3 pulse = 18sec chill) and high dmg trough applying huge amount of bleeds and burn very often and pets can crit quite high..
Heck this is probably the anti-elementalist build.
You also grant 242/s regen to nearby allies which is quite valuable for teamfights.
The only real counters 1v1 as far as I know are necro and ranger carion because of condi transfer and carion having more condi dps and more health so condi passive resistanc.Oh yeah absolutely…. I mean, unless they are one of those rare individuals that slot a stun break….
So what taunt is erry 15 sec.
It’s not condi burst it’s condi sustain meaning you apply condi all the time.Your traps are the only thing dangerous about engaging you on point…
Power ranger beats you strictly with LB alone. You will never get a good LB ranger on trap unless you move off point, since they have the mobility to stay away from you. They can happily stand at long range and pew pew you away while you can’t do anything threatening without traps…
While traps are a decent build, it requires fighting 1v1s ON POINT and IN Point blank range… those conditions have to be met in order for a trap ranger to have any kind of success in sPvP…. a class playing from range/midrange like LB ranger ,mesmer , rifle engi, etc, will just dance around in circles at range until you drop since they can see you aren’t going to hurt them without traps…trap does work very nicely in point blank fights thou like thief,guard,warriors, etc
Good teams won’t let you win lol. You may suprise em the first engagement with your taunt/traps but its EASY to play around once you know what you are dealing with….
Which is why i have yet to see any kind of trap ranger at my MMR..It works to an extent, don’t get me wrong, but a skilled player can figure out how to counter it with ease….
I run power because i find it more fun, but a good anything will los you or get off point and los you forcing you to move in to engage in pvp. If you’re getting ranged down holding point on a trapper build you deserve it, if they never move in to engage you’re still holding the point so what’s the problem, what exactly is your mmr lol.
After dealing with it for 3 years now I don’t really care if they fix the auto or not,but if they made the dodges on #2 and #3 instant that would be a very welcome change for me
now that you’ve added reward track progress to exp boosters i actually have a reason to use them for something but i can’t activate them in the mists, only the celebration booster, please make it happen
I tried beta on another class didnt like it so i made a ranger, 5 minutes in i walked down a hill and my pet full died also they only give you one pet in the beta which is awesome so I didnt have a pet for the first part of the beta, it’s amazing that after 3 years my pet still cant handle steep terrain

Is there any particular reason shaman stats aren’t in pvp? Settler is so I don’t really see why shaman wouldn’t be.
I’ll give examples of how other classes stay alive when they are full zerker. A warrior naturally has high vitality and fairly high armor, even when full zerker. A Guardian has very high armor naturally. A thief has stealth to keep itself alive, along with mesmer, with the added on clones to block some attacks and add a bit of confusion to stay alive. Elementalists have a large amount of healing skills they are able to use. Necromancers have naturally high health and almost a whole second extra bar of health when they have life force. Engineers have Healing Turret, which heals very high on a very short cooldown and the possibility to use utilities for added on healing.
When you play full zerker ranger you have evades, I run s/d-lb instead of lb/gs simply for that reason and stay max range with lb as much as possible, we have a ton of evades which is more than nothing. Also full zerk guards may have naturally high armor but they have a kitten hp pool full zerk, necros may have 2 health bars but they have no stabo, every class has it’s ups and downs. Zerker ranger just happens to be most effective as an annoying max range pew pew pew fighter
I see the new GM trait as a much needed improvement to PvE when coupled with not having to trait for signets. Now I can do a permanent 10% more dmg with sword auto at permanent uptime as well as not having to trait into signets for 25% more damage with fiery rush. Not having to trait into signets is very nice as it gives us some on demand stabo besides rampage or 6 seconds of no damage – both nice in pvp when you dont have to trait for them.
It says alliances are tested and it shows rox and braham reporting to their respective ‘leaders’ as well as ice dragon corruption, maybe two dragons are making pushes at the same time O:
How many times have you felt useless when you’re doing anything, be it WvW, PvP or PvE?
PvP I never feel useless and I play power ranger not even the group utility spirit meta PvP has a high skill cap for ranger so it takes getting used to. PvE it doesnt matter much because the mechanics for most things are stack and burn, any classes can do that really and with frostspotter build at least you can give some utility, as for WvW if you want to zerg you’re not going to do that well mainly do to our only ranged aoe having very little damage but rangers can be very good in small groups.
Honestly the things I want to see for ranger (In no particular order):
1. A fix for the sword 2 evade and leap, the evade takes too long to be reliable, I wish it worked like lightning reflexes.
2. Legendary pets that I can raise to my liking or the abililty to change my current pets skills.
3. Another cleave weapon that doesn’t lunge me all over the place besides greatsword, which has great utility but attacks way too slow, my greatest hope would be a complete overhaul for mainhand axe to make it a melee cleave weapon instead of a bad dps ranged one. (Don’t get me wrong I love the sword auto, it’s a godsend in pvp but lunging around at tequatl isn’t much fun and I hate having to greatsword that guy.)
4.Not having to trait to use my own signets.
Some of us like the sword the way it is, what I really wish they would do is make the axe a melee cleave weapon so people could use it in any manner of pve other than to kill blooms in TA
Relogged and relaunched, tried it in a group and without and it doesnt create the instance, I haven’t tried reinstalling but I don’t care enough to do all that for a level 20 PS :P
The megaserver is kitten, my guild usually has 120-200 people on every night and we usually run all the world events in a train so we can all get loot. Now it splits our guild up into 6 different maps for things like shatterer. I really wish they would have gone with the original plan of testing it on starting zones first to see how it would handle world events like maw or fire ele, but now we have it on maps like shatterer I don’t know all the maps that it’s on but i HOPE it wouldnt be in sparkly fen or bloodtide simply because the bosses that spawn there actually do take coordination and are not getting killed with pug players, I get that it was to help the leveling process seem not so isolated, and I don’t pretend to know anything about programming or running a company, but you guys are throwing out megaservers and I’m still just sitting here wishing I could evade out of my ranger’s sword 1 auto-attack chain.
My vote goes to ranger. It’s my main and it’s just abysmal when you’re downed. It’s got to be the only class besides warrior that has absolutely no way to defend from the downed state. The #2 skill is like a one-second stun that hits one enemy, and that’s it. Beyond that your only hope is to wait the — what is it, five seconds? — for your #3 pet heal skill to charge. And once it does, so what? You’re still downed and you can still be executed, and your pet can also die while it’s healing you. Utterly useless in all but the lowest-level PvE.
Ranger is my main and we have probably the most OP of all downed states(assuming your enemy has no stability). You get downed #2 daze > swap to wolf > wolf uses kd on enemy while you’re healing > after kd f2 for aoe fear > #3 for pet heals(by this time your #2 daze is back up for another stun) > get rezzed by your pet and go down again because you play ranger(pve specific)
Alternate ideas:
Give the pets a gap closer in their rotation. Then they’ll hit far more often.
Lower the cool-down on pet summons. Then it won’t matter so much when one dies to AE spam.
This. 20 seconds on swap I’m fine with but when my pet dies, which it will in wvw, fractals, dungeons, to any champ mob solo pve (basically everywhere in the kitten game). I get stuck with a 60sec cd after swap. Which means when I immediately swap out my pet to another one and it instantly dies (hell I’ve had times when i swap my dead pet for ANOTHER ALREADY dead pet) I’m stuck with no pet and 30% dps loss in pve for near an entire minute, if my pet died and they gave me the 20sec cd instead of 60 I might actually trait into something that would boost my pets dps, but as it is now I will either keep them next to me for buffs or let them rush in dps a boss for 5 seconds and die(granted you can micromanage it abit but we all know how responsive f1 & f3 are when it comes to pets).

It was such a close match last week, i just want that back. Now i wake up and we own everything and to be honest, it kind of sucks
It’s unfortunate, we transfer here with intel of Yak’s bend camping Pks and owning everything, 2 days later theres no one to fight. Sigh………
last month yak’s put up a fight, 2 days ago they nightcapped everything and put themselves in the lead and now I haven’t seen hardly any of them, I guess they only play once a week now. I transferred here about a month ago from JQ because I didn’t like to camp dolyaks, guess i’ll go play tiddlywinks in the mists.
Dear Anet, The Fire Elemental in the level 1 Asura zone is 100x harder than the endgame event Dragons. Please fix. Thank you.
By Fix I mean don’t make Dragons sit there while you press 1, maybe make them harder than cutting down a tree. You killed all sense of epic that the artists worked hard on with your very bizarre design decisions while also showing that you are capable of difficult encounters as shown by the Fire Elemental. The PvE design decisions make zero sense.
This guy has a good point, that fire elemental was good times, I wan’t all my epic boss fights to be good times. :c
