I think the pet nerfs aren’t as big a deal but I was really expecting a serious buff to our damage output somewhere.
The pet nerf really pushed down our already low dps, and it’s something that really needs looked at.
So sure pets needed nerfed cuz… what? Spvp and some roamer got killed by a ranger?
Yet we can’t get a meaningful damage boost to really offset this either?
Maybe give us some more utility? We are just very lacking right now.
We aren’t even the jack of all trades master of none class.
We are simply OK at the things we can do, and a lot of stuff we simply cant do.

Dont need rangers to be OP but we really need some work still, and I think people looking at that list of “leaked” notes or whatever were hoping to find answers and not more problems.

If they needed a nerf because they were strong in 1v1… then go ahead and blow up every other class that has a build that is really strong 1v1 =D

Edit: The issue isnt the BM spec, it’s the fact we are strongly lacking as a class, and while balancing BM is cool, they really need to look at our weapons and trains again.
We are weak in pve atm, we are the worst WvW class.
We are good at 1v1… which is nearly worthless, oh yay now i can troll roamers in WvW.

I dunno, just seems stupid to chop up our one optimal build and not fix the rest. We will have to wait until patch launches to really see what effect it will have I imagine.

I feel the cripple attack should still be 1200 though.

Why bother with that? Rangers are among the worst PvE professions.

Not bad for killing world mobs or underwater combat.
Usually will go to an event, toss on the long bow, press 1, then go make a sandwich.
Dungeons I will bring guardian or warrior.
WvW Ill bring anything but my ranger.
sPvP Weeeee ranger bm bunker build is usefulish.

One thing I would like to see fixed with some of the ranged weapons…
The axe #2 abilitiy that throws the 5 axes…. If my target breaks, instead of throwing them forward, most often he will throw them directly at his feet. Now the only way Ive manage to correct this is by changing my camera angle to be almost behind my feet which isn’t where the camera normally is. Seems trivial but its my biggest pet peeve with ranged weapons in general, and that one ability has always been the biggest offender for me.

1) BM rangers where OP, end of story. I specked BM for fun and facerolled 1 v 3 in WvW, without actually knowing what I am doing.
The nerf on Pets was needed, they were just too strong.
The Jaguars base damage wasn’T even reduced, just his F2 got a nerf and I can live with that!

2) Other Non-Pet focused builds got buffed with offhand Axe and LB damage increase
The spirit tree buffs offer some great choices for GS Warriors with Frost Spirit support (believe it or not, this build already was strong in sPVP)
Offhand Axe buff is just awesome, I was running Sw/Axe already and now I can rock even more – thanks ANet!
The Longbow buff was needed and we will see how much damage increase there will actually be. I expect not too much but still a noticable improvement.

3) SB nerf. The only thing I don’t get, but since everybody was running shortbow (if not BM specced) I can understand it somehow.

4)Trait Changes
Imho very good stuff. Some more tweeking for Signet Ranger required, but it got a lot better.
Healing on Shouts sounds fun, I will defenetly try this out.
This could become one of the best Bunker builds GW2 has seen.

TL;DR: Am I seriously the only one who thinks, the (leaked) Patch notes are a good thing for us? ANet offered 2-3 more viable builds with this by slightly nerfing the BM Bunker.

Blackgate is such an attractive server, guilds decide to go there out of all the other 23 servers & stay until the end.

I also personally think that it sounds a lot better than Beastgate, but thats just me

You act as though guilds only die in Blackgate, well whatever happened to that huge guild from SoR [SYN] (think it was Synapse)?

Oh yeah they died off; now it looks like SoR has got a Blackhole of their own.

Every server has had a guild that stopped playing gw2 & moved on or just quit entirely and SoR is no exception to that.

[SYN] Merged most of their remaining members into HIRE for better PvX play. SYN was never huge in the first place. They haven’t ‘collapsed’ they just moved into a larger community.

Samething goes for BG guilds but you don’t see any Blackgate calling SoR a Blackhole :P

You must have missed the big duel event back before SoR started becoming a social and civil embarrassment to the man the server’s named after (except Choo and CDS)…

T2 was such better times.

Other than these forums, I mostly love this match up.
All 3 servers have their bad eggs. We got someone on SoR raging about something and breaking all our golems right now… not like we can kick him out =(

Only way to diversify this matchup is to destack..

They can collapse some servers… with the guesting system now I am not even sure why we have servers other than for WvW.

To destack if would be the top 6 or 7 servers, the problem is all the variables.
A lot of servers have HUGE fair-wheather WvW pops, they can actually see queues 3x and x4 on a favorable match up randomly.(not all but quite a few)

Except that they’d get stomped ever so slightly less during NA and even more so during Oceanic/SEA.

Actually with TC being able to beat both FA and DB, they’d be a great matchup against SoR & BG. But only time will tell whether or not that will actually happen…

If TC could manage to keep their fair-weather wvw’ers in the fight during a hard match up, sure. From talking to some peeps from TC their WvW population dropped signifigantly last week. If they could conquer that problem then I could see them moving up and contending some. They were just running into manpower issues a lot, couple times you would see them outmanned during NA times on certain maps.
I’d be willing to bet they will have ques on all four maps this week during NA.

With how well they are doing right now, hopefully that will get their players back into wvw and enable them to jump into T1 with bg and sor… but these matchups are soo unpredictable.

JQ is still ahead of TC.
I do see TC will need to move up some to get better though, since they are at the point they are too big for T2(well when there was a T2) and they lose numbers when facing the harder fights from the previously T1 servers.

If they could push a 2v1 they could probably hold a good weekend in PPT though. The weekdays always change everything though.

I don’t get this. Do BG just like ROFLstomp winning all the time? Sometimes I get the feeling that BG just don’t like a challenge. They get so hurt and defensive when they aren’t in the lead, and, honest to god, bring out all the excuses in the book. What exactly don’t you like about this match up?

This is the feeling I get, but I know this is far from the truth. There are some great people in BG and I wish that it were these people who were exemplified in the forums rather then these QQing kitten measuring forum warriors. It’s like they think this is a soap box for them to bloody moan and whinge.

If you don’t like the match up, go ahead and transfer somewhere else. Nothing is stopping you.

I dont even know what to say about all of these posts. I am simply amazed by it.

Its kind of funny because the entire night TW had had the entire borderland full of SoR chasing us around trying to collect bounty on Indo. I can honestly and safely say that for every 1 BG player I have killed tonight, I have killed 10 SoR.

On the flip side, I was killed once by SoR and twice by gravity.

Here is something to think about everyone. Look at the map right now. BG objectives are split down the middle on every map even on EBG where JQ has sm and SOR is pushing BG towers. Now tell me what is the reasoning for a 2v1. Well this is a 1v1v1 match meaning it’s likely a 2v1 is always happening so the question is how do you pick who to 2v1. Well there are a few ways, including but not limited to 1. The weakest side (JQ as shown by BG winning last week) 2. A strategic backdoor (would not cover all maps) 3. Being upset with the server.

Now it seems to me option number 3 is likely considering the conformity on all maps. So why would SOR or JQ be mad, well JQ got beat by BG last week and SOR didn’t get to fight BG last week and missed us.

So if that is the case then the question is, did SOR plan to push BG and JQ is being a kitten? Did JQ plan to push BG and is SOR being a kitten? Or are SOR and JQ really that upset?

My guess is BG was sitting in the front yard just chillin when the drunk (drunk just for SF) neighbor JQ came along throwing punches while the 7th grade girlfriend that just came back to town named SOR ran over to give all of BG a giant hug.
