Ya was on SoR BL just a bit ago, was holding off IOJ pretty good until they did a golem rush with like 10 or so golems.
We tried to retake just a moment ago however when we got the door to 0 it became untargetable and was still there, moments later it was targetable at about 1% health, we knocked it down again yet… it was still there and untargetable.
Sent a bug report, first time I’ve ever seen that happen.

Weekends are probably when servers have closest to even coverage, however thats 2 days versus 5 week days where you can really see the holes. IoJ and SoR seem to have very different prime times during the weekdays. Blackgate seems to have better week day coverage as a whole atm. All in all it’s a pretty fun matchup, compared to SoS who had maybe 4 to 6 weakish hours and the rest were very strong.
The way it looks we might be stuck with this match up for a while. =D

We did lose some guilds but all the people that matter stayed and our support for SoR wvw definitely shows. Thank you Purp Nurp (Jamesze) for leading the charge in EB, it is a pain to direct traffic in there sometimes but ya did well.

Ya I already dialed back my play time, haven’t been on in two days.
Not because the gear is making a difference yet, it’s just if I want to maximize my wvw output i will need to pve to do it… which I don’t care to grind since I want to wvw and could care less about pve. I feel this games niche isn’t pve anyways and I am unsure why they are throwing all their resources at it. The fact we have a single gear to use badges on oppose to the surplus of pve sets indicates they are focus’d on pve which is fine, however the impression I got was this was a PvP focus’d game, and it’s soon to be an ignored side mini game.
Someone is sure to point out “GAME IS NEW GIVE IT TIME!”
I’m willing to give it time however I would like some reassurances on some wvw updates, and any new pve gear has a wvw counterpart to it. So far I’ve not seen it and I think a lot of us wvw only players would like an answer one way or another on the matter just to clear things up since a lot of us are still kind of confused over some early developer posts stating the new gear will NOT have an advantage in wvw… which it clearly does, however small.
Imagine the PvE outcry if wvw gear was better than the pve stuff, just throw us an answer on whether or not wvw will see equivalent gear, and maybe a vague time window, or tell us tough luck, pve or gtfo. Just give the answer though instead of sitting quietly.

I love the fact they limited it but I agree with this post.
Low HP player> Mid HP player >If everyone full then heals a pet =P
I really wasn’t a fan of the bunkering going on, however made more specs viable in wvw. With the last change though running lots of heal gear/traits feels less rewarding.
Also feel they overkilled it some by going from unlimited targets to 5… smart heals would be a nice medium, and possibly ramping the number up 1 or 2 more.

I have a warrior and a thief at 80 right now.
Both excel differently, thiefs have to work a little harder to get the big hits, however they have way more consistent control with stealth.
Warriors are better for big easy numbers however I feel they are easier to counter, what makes them really tough to melt down atm is godmode stance and shield block can give them long periods of time taking no damage, however most warrior are running gib builds, they blow cd’s and hope for the easy kill, then blow two more to get outta the fray, outside of these timers they are pretty weak.
Thief can avoid damage with stealth, and more often.
As a thief I just focus on stragglers, also run with a ele or guardian with a bunker build and just start killing people attacking them, seems as soon as ya stealth they go right back after the bunker player leaving themselves open for another assault.

curious to know who IoJ & SoR think is the more stronger world. Blackgate or Sea of Sorrows?
Was actually talking about this the other day, from what I have seen thus far they are excel differently. One thing similar is they both can pull really large groups for a lot of hours. Blackgate tends to be really good with siege placement and siege fighting.
SoS is amazing at messing with the culling rending stuff. They seem to have a very good understanding of it and can be brutal on the open field.
SoS felt like it had more coverage, I am on east coast and only time I saw SoS with outmanned buff was in the late late morning to early afternoon. This week is hard to judge due to fractal stuff however I have ran into Blackgate with the outmanned buff a few times, on their BL and in EB during early prime time hours.

Downed state is aight atm, could use some tweaking. Elementalists shouldn’t be able to suicide out of a tower then mist form back in. During the downed state you shouldn’t be allowed to access the portals.
Underwater downed state could use some serious revamping though =P
Most players are 10 times more tanky after you get them downed and the healing is pretty good too =D

WvW needs serious overhaul, we didn’t get much to start with for WvW and was hoping they were going to build on it however feels like GW2 will soon be a PVE game.

Super match up, really glad to see the aggressive play with good sportsmanship.
No doubt SoS will do well in the tier one bracket, although it looks like they might have to wait another week. =(

Most of the fun has been completely sucked out of this match. While I would agree that there has been very little exploiting seen(atleast from my time in WvW this week) What I have seen is the massive abuse of the culling issue. I’ve watched zergs port 10 yards to use culling to their advantage, theives using it to defend camps or towers far longer than they should have. Watching a zerg that vastly outnumbers its enemy use the AoE killer, “the ball” to negate the defense of those with far less numbers than themselves.
While all these things are considered “fine” in the context of a non-exploit, they serve no other purpose than to ruin any chance of fun to be had by either side. Winning is great, but to win at the cost of fun, in a non-ranked aspect of the game by any means, including, lets just say “sketchy” means does far more harm than a blowout.
We’ve seen what Anet does to things that cause an imbalance within the game, that cannot be fixed in a reasonable manner, they remove it completely. With the rampant abuse seen in the last few days I would not be surprised if some of these class abilities(from WvW) and “tricks” are removed outright to prevent this kind of imbalance.
Those aren’t exploits and we can all do them. However turtle and portals both require a degree of teamwork and coordination. SoR has a hard time with that, I watched the Tempest Wolves try to pull some different stack and portal tactics other night, and a lot of people in Team chat were just complaining “it wont work!” and “your stupid!”.
Except it was working, they were holding off 3 to 1 odds for a long time. If they could have taken all the team chat trolls(like half the people in the borderland) and got them to cooperate, the tactic would have dominated.
We are in a weird spot atm, the 4 servers above us beat us on the 24/7 coverage, so us moving up is unlikely. The 2 servers below us are TC and IOJ which are nearly comparable in size except IoJ is actually showing up and melting face when they face a real fight. We are stuck in this #5 slot until… something happens?(Probably one of top 4 has a population meltdown) We will always be fighting the loser of Tier one and the winner of tier 3 will cycle between TC and IOJ. Not really sure how I feel about it, I personally have a lot of fun fighting SoS, however a lot of people are always whining about it when they should be stepping up and getting better.
TLDR: Portal and Turtle tactics are legit, get over it.
Work as a team and quit crying/raging in team/map.
We are stuck as #5 for a while probably.

5th (Insert SoR partying like its 1999.)
6th (Insert TC or IoJ here.) TC will pretend to have no population at all and IoJ could probably push some overtime and sneak a win on us, maybe not this round but they appear to have a lot more chances.

This has been a fun match up.
Few things I want to comment on, one being the culling/rendering thingymobobber.
It’s probably not going away. Yes SoS abuses the stupid holy hell out of it, however, we can all use it as an advantage as well. So instead of whining about it, work around it and use it to your advantage.
SoR isn’t dying. We lost the Kiwi guild and who else? What is the most amount of them you have seen on a map at one time?
Right now our oceanic brothers are having a hard time against SoS since there simply isn’t as many of them. I play until the early morning and it’s just a rough fight once 3 a.m. eastern time hits.
On “SoR is targeting IoJ when they should be hitting SoS!”
Its a three way match up, at times this happens. Tonight for example, we popped on to EB, SoR owned nothing. We grab one supply camp for siege, took the tower to the south to start working on the keep, i see swords on the camp, when I get there who do I see? IoJ =P So once we pulled our corner back, that was my team camping pangloss for about an hour to make a point, don’t steal my cookies. Goes both ways, IoJ has pushed on SoR at inopportune times when we are trying to push SoS. Lets not pretend like IoJ is a victim here.
Sure the score isn’t even, but the fights are good right now. We simply have to step our game up. I have personally learned a lot from PRX and Tsym this matchup.

Great match so far, not necessarily in our favor however it seems like everyone is having fun in the borderlands. Just came off IOJ in which we incurred the outmanned but about an hour ago, things started getting a little hairy.
Hopefully we can pull some back before primetime tomorrow and keep this pain wagon going.

I think TC is going to wreck them however CD had a lot of fighters too so I think it will be a good match. I wish that HoD could have been moved down a few brackets weeks ago when nearly all the organized wvw guilds bounced out.

Spawn camping is lame BUT =P
If you kite enemies back to your invuln zone to get invuln while you try to kill them, your asking for it.
If you think North supply belongs to the defending borderland, your wrong, there are plenty of other exits, if the invaders wish to hold it to cut off supplies, its a completely reasonable tactic.
The first one is the one that kittens me off at the moment, it seems to be a very common tactics since people are learning about all kinds of corners and walls you can hug for invulnerability.
The 2nd one only holds slightly true since you don’t really need to cut off supply atm unless the defenders actually hold something. However I do agree setting up tons of siege pointing at the door is a bit nefarious, it is not where the defenders spawn, they spawn in a protected area with invulnerability with lots of paths to take to get out, if you choose to take the path with 20 ballistas pointing at it, I say it is your fault too for feeding the campers. Use your head and people skills, gather a group and take another route.
Last night TC definitely showed their teeth and they were sharp =P
I think TC would have fared much better if this was a three way match instead of the SoR vs TC match that it is.

The Orb design is seriously ridiculous right now. It basically just gives whatever server has the population advantage a massive force multiplier every match. Not to mention that whatever server is winning usually just hacks the Orbs away anyway (cough SoR cough).
Giving a massive force multiplier to the already-winning and larger population team is horrible design.
Right now due to all the cheating and junk going on it’s also impossible to finish the monthly. There’s hardly anyone but SoR online in WvW so it’s 10 people vs 500.
I would agree with everything you say, except saying we need to hack the orbs.
If someone did do it, seriously screenshot it and expose them, I havent talked to a single commander on SoR that would promote that and would report it.
Besides that, we own every single keep, I guess we could hack it from our own keep and… move it to one of the other two? I’m not even trying to be combative about it but your comment deserves such a response.

As for the Orb bonus, it needs to be clipped some.
Or at least moved around some to other kinds of buffs.
Maybe instead reduce the player bonus’s to like 1% or 2% per orb and maybe give a cost reduction in upgrades, even a slight decrease or something with supply, just give a bunch of more subtle bonuses to still make them valuable while not game breaking.

This is like the match vs. Blackgate only difference is BG actually has skilled players/guilds. SoR has a lot of unskilled players but they can filed masses. There’s one guild that stands out on there and that’s RUN which I have yet to encounter any skillful players. They’re the goon squad of SoR it seems.

I was expecting it to be a bit imbalanced but not like this.
Fortunately the Halloween stuff is keeping everyone busy on all sides.
Orb bonus should really be completely changed or toned down, especially in these one sided fights it only makes a bad situation worse.

When we left TC it was doing much better than SoS, when we left SoS they were higher than SoR.
On a side note, we all liked TC and didn’t wish to leave, there was no vote and we still have some friends there. I don’t remember anyone in the guild having any issues with any guilds there outside of Akadios which is now gone.
Either way, keep the crap outta the forum and bring it to W3.

As soon as a server sees they are behind there seems to be a culture of “screw it, lets do the Halloween event.”
I dont expect much from Eredon, but expect TC to show its teeth this weekend.

Hrmm, SoR getting second this week actually wouldn’t be so bad… SoS would go to T2 with their round the clock zergball and Crystal Desert with their lack of a sustained population would fall to T4. That’d make way for an SoR-Eredon-Tarnished Coast match-up that looks promising to me!
Interestingly enough, SoR had an extremely strong night presence during the weekend and gained 20k plus points on Sunday early morning and day. Not sure what happened last night (I’m guessing people work during the week) but SoS played PvDoor to make it up (I’m on SoS btw).
N/A primetime has been really fun during the weekend and I felt pretty even.
Oh and one more thing. Even if SoR won this match, as long as SoS came in second, SoS would still move up to the next tier and SoR would stay in T3.
If u were on the BL, u would know why. our chatbox was full of dirty words about SoR exploiters and hackers, i believe that was a new transfer guild to SoR called DEVS.
SoS players almost reported every SoR shown on screen, it was kind of funny to watch…

Please try to grab a screen of them and post it on here for everyone to see. That goes for all servers. While fighting GoM before we got video of a member of Sanctified Wrath flying in the air with the orb =P

Hear a lot about SoR hacking orbs, I play more than I should, 12ish+ hours a day atm.
On the CD borderland we have had our orb hacked twice and had to retrieve it both times, which were legit. Not sure which borderland your talking about.
Did you see the hacker and if ya do please get a screen so we can see which guild they are in at least.
Awesome effort SoR though, this week has been an awesome fight.
Was worried about SoS night capping but it appears their NA force is stronger than their aussies atm.

I agree however magic find is nice… I feel the orbs would lose some of their value.

The orbs dont make a whole lot of sense as of now and the outmanned “buff” does little to help with being outmanned.

Definitely not the dream match up from last week.
Didn’t expect much from GoM and Yaks rolled into Friday taking no prisoners.
I think once Yaks licks its wounds this fight will heat up again.
Still not sure why the garrison SoR holds, has a orb that Yaks gets the bonus for =P

SOR and GOM have 2 choices.
A. fight it out for second place.
B. A temporary truce. Each stays out of the others home BG. The 3rd place team at noon server gets EB the other Yaks. Last night we did more damage to each other than we did collectively to Yaks. the results of this folly speak for themselves. The only way to offset the gross disparity of numbers is to split Yaks in half and make them earn their points the old fashioned way.
Nah no need for those shenanigans. Yaks is blowing stuff up right now, I don’t think the momentum will last once the weekend is over.
