I think you have to hit them after their bar is broken, so you actually do enough damage for kill credit (ie. don’t run between crystals trying to tag them.)

I help break the bar (I think? Hard to tell when there are 50 ppl wailing at it) and do a ton of damage to kill it. No credit. Nothing. In fact, since the “fix” I haven’t gotten any credit, whereas before the “fix” I was getting credit. Typical Anet.

I have experienced this bug on the Jellyfish boss, it has since been fixed. However, post fix, I have encountered this bug on the last boss of Snowblind fractal. Very easy to identify as you just pull up your character sheet and see that AR says 0.

So, this is still bugged.

Crystal Healing Denier is still bugged (post patch). Destroyed 4 crystals got credit for none of them.

The whole situation is not helped by trolls who join and leave immediately (apparently I’m NOT allowed to name these people here, because god forbid the perpetrators are offended in some way).

You’re not allowed to name them because it’s way too easy to stir up a lynch mob and sic it on someone that doesn’t deserve it. We’ve only got your say-so and no idea of mitigating circumstances.

In other words the perpetrators are protected and the victims are punished twice. I’m sorry, but that’s just not good enough.

Tired of this horse kitten.

Ran four fractals and now can’t do anything. I’m doing nothing wrong here.

The whole situation is not helped by trolls who join and leave immediately (apparently I’m NOT allowed to name these people here, because god forbid the perpetrators are offended in some way).

There is also a weird glitch where some 4 man parties cannot be joined and suppress you right away on only one join, I don’t know if this is a bug or some sort of abuse. Usually you can tell there is something going on – one of the party members is constantly cycling toons.

Anyway, tired of this horse kitten.

This has been happening to me since the start of HoT, but others have been reporting it since before that. I encounter this bug several times a day, usually a movement skill is the trigger (eg. Rev staff 5), but dodging can also cause this as well. I find I either have to dodge to get out of it or use another movement skill. Very annoying bug and has caused some deaths from time to time.

Globs/Shards no longer drop in Fractals?

Since last patch, I’m now getting vials in all fractal levels, which never used to happen ( I think?). Above 20 I used to get globs and above 50 shards. Haven’t gotten any globs or shards since last week, but get vials from 70+ now. Bug or not?

Same issue is being reported with Berserker’s Scorched Earth skill (Longbow F1). Having more than one burnzerker in the raid is now a huge liability.

It took me many tries to get this one done due to all the bugs. I’ll share some tips, may be some of these will help.

- Use a ranged weapon (Ranger LB is best for this) and glide to the branch on the first flight phase (assuming no bugs), stay and DPS from the branch until you have to come down to operate the rift. You can DPS the boss until he’s immune and get the first illusion down to “use the rift” stage. Second illusion will spawn right away, since you’ve pushed the boss to that stage.

- Glide to the same branch during the second flight phase and get as far from the boss as you can, there is an invisible wall on the branch. If you position yourself at the very side of the branch (don’t fall off!) you can avoid the rocks boss throws at you, branch will block them.

- Stay on the branch and DPS the boss until the next flight phase. You don’t have to come down at all. During the third flight phase go to the same spot on the branch where you hid from rocks last time. You should be far enough away from all the red balls.

- Once the third flight phase is over stay on the branch for a bit. Red balls are still active and will shoot stuff at you. Even if you land safely on the ground they can still hit you and you will loose the achievement. It’s safer to wait it out on the branch, even eating the orange circle AoE, than coming down and risk being hit by red balls. Orange circle AoE will not make you loose the achievement.

So, basically you only have to take to the air twice and remember to wait on the branch at the end until red balls despawn. Good Luck!

Saying that lag plays a huge role and that it’s something outside Anet’s control is factually true, however there are many games that are demanding skill-wise but are still playable with oceanic lag. Design plays a big role.

This goes all the way back to Labyrinthine Cliffs, where even tethered jumps could miss. How is that even possible? You tell the server “here, play my toon for me”, there is no precise aiming or timing involved and yet the server cannot make the jump. THIS is something that can be solved on Anet’s end by coding things differently, but years have passed since then and same problems exist today.

Anet cannot “solve” lag for you, but they can code things that are not so sensitive to lag.

Which item are you referring to? There are two, one from The Risen High Wizard and one from Eye of Zhaitan. I’m assuming you mean the Magnification Lens from the Eye, in which case I feel your pain. I got lucky and got it first day, but it is another one of those badly designed mechanics Anet is (in)famous for. :/

If you are going solo, you need to bring extra CC for that last phase. And save it for just the right moment.

First time I hear of this and I’ve done it on multiple alts, sounds bugged to me. Extra CC won’t help as his bar regenerates too quickly and he’s too far away from the rift for any ranged CC skills.

General advice – have your inventory open and spam click the Celestial Cartographer’s Gear when you’re near the location in question. More specific advice regarding the two items:

1) Collect the four cantles, go to the chest and open it then head up the tree (towards the Sun cantle) while spam clicking Celestial Cartographer’s Gear. I got my chart not far from the chest as I started heading up. Make sure you do this during the night of course, Tyria day/night cycle is the same as Verdant Brink’s (use Hot map timer on Dulfy’s site or something similar)

2) You have to get on top of the Span structure. There are rotating tilted vents on either side of the building, use those to gain some height and jump on the roof.

Movement skill bug - unable to move

Yeah, I’ve searched the forums and found several buried threads with no follow-up or response. I’ve been patient hoping Anet will get around to fixing this (I’m sure they have a lot on their plate right now), but time has come to raise this issue again. Like many others I have experienced this intermittently since launch (gw2 launch, not HoT launch), annoying but not that big of a deal. Until a couple of weeks ago, when one of the HoT follow up patches (3-4 days after HoT launch?) changed something, now it happens countless times everyday. Using any type of movement skill has about 80-90% chance to root me in place, I’m not joking, it’s easily reproducible. I’ve been observing the behaviour of this bug and have noticed some things, hopefully the following notes will help resolve this.

- Any charge, leap, teleport (e.g, Surge of the Mists, Wings of Resolve, Lightning Flash) has a very high chance to root the character in place. Not 100% chance but very high. This only seems to happen when in combat, I have never been rooted when out of combat.

- The only way to get out of the root is to either use another movement skill or to dodge roll. When using another movement skill, THAT skill has 0% chance to root you in place (at least in my experience). For example, if I use Surge of the Mists, get stuck and then use Phase Traversal everything is fine (i.e. I’m not re-rooted).

- When stuck you are still able to attack and use abilities, but you cannot turn and can only dodge roll forward. Consequently, if you’re facing a cliff you dodge roll off the cliff no matter which way you try to face and dodge roll.

I encounter this behaviour almost in every encounter, which adds up to several dozen times per day and has lead to my death countless times. I’m not sure if this behaviour is terrain dependant as I’ve been mostly playing HoT and terrain in the new maps is very bumpy.

Some "Escort NPC " events in Verdant Brink are not giving any rewards. This seems to happen for escort events that have no combat between the last encounter and final destination point. I get a “Due to inactivity, you are no longer etc etc etc” even if I hold the NPC’s hand all the way to the finish line.

Consequently, you also don’t get credit towards map-meta participation

Missing out on a lot of mastery XP is annoying…

Custom Arena owner and shared account

I have a question for the guilds/individuals out there who have come across this. We are a small guild spread across NA and Oceanic time zones and we want to set-up and maintain a Custom Arena. At the moment we are trying to decide who would be the most suitable owner of the arena. I’m trying to investigate if it’s possible to use a shared account, that a few of the guild officers can access, as the owner of the arena.

Now, I know it’s against the ToS and obviously Anet does not look favourably on things like this. I’m not trying to do anything dodgy here and having a shared account would greatly enhance our use and enjoyment of Custom Arena.

Has anyone tried doing this? Or what would be even better if an Anet CS rep could chime in and shed some light on this idea?

When kill sniping was all the rage

…then came Guild Wars 2. You could rock up to an “Event Nearby”, participate, grab some rewards, meet some people and be on your way. Didn’t matter if you turned up a little late, sure you may only get silver reward, but it was fair that way.

What happened?!

I don’t know if it’s the mob scaling (HP too low) or perhaps that all other players are in a group and get more credit or something else, but GW2 is in a state that MMOs were in 15 years ago.

Doing EotM/WvW? Not in a group? Good luck getting bags from players/champions. Sometime you will, sometimes you won’t. Party up, problem solved.

Doing Frozen Maw? Blink and you’ve missed the grawl/totem/portals, no reward for you. Did you get an auto-attack in? Gold reward for you! Party up, problem solved.

Now, I’m not against partying up with other players. It is a MMO afterall, and there is plenty of group content out there. What I don’t like is the constant “lfg spam” and sniping/tagging mobs in World content. It didn’t use to be like this, is this something we need in the game?

I had a very similar thing happen to me doing Boss Blitz. There was a guild taxiing people in and I got kicked to the log-in screen. I’ve had DCs in the past of course, and usually I know I’m about to get DCed (lagging, spikes, rubber-banding etc.). Takes a moment to get back in afterwards cause there was genuinely something borked with my internet. This time I reconnected immediately, no issues, I was back in the game within 5 seconds…….on a different version of the map.

I’m not sure if it’s anything. Is it a bug? Was it just coincidence? Is it possible that Megaserver is giving guildies priority and kicking people if the limit is over the hardcap?

Lightning Pull constant overshooting

I know there is nothing Anet can do to resolve latency issues, but it would be nice if they could design around them. There are plenty of attacks that cannot be dodged if your latency is slightly high (~250ms), and there are plenty that can be dodged easily even with fairly high latency (400ms). This is even true for the same content, some AoE in Boss Blitz can be dodged, some can’t be dodged due to latency. Design is clearly a contributing factor to the fun of the game, you can’t just blame latency.

As for challenging content? I have no problems with dodging/reacting to stuff in small group play. There are plenty of ways to challenge yourself in the game. I don’t see why fighting latency in a heavily populated zone should be classified as a challenge.

I’m not experiencing any issues with any of the skills.

I’m sure that for the vast majority of EU players playing on EU servers and NA players playing on NA servers this is a complete non-issue and they would be baffled as to what is even referred to here. That’s why I’ve searched and linked posts which, in detail, outline the conditions during which this issue occurs (you didn’t read those, did you?).

I can confirm that ground-targeted and tethered lightning pulls miss (for me) about 90% of the time. My understanding is this is due to a combination of latency and client-side estimation of position, as a result the game puts the character off the platform at the completion of the jump.

Haven’t been able to get credit for the past few kills now. I guess more and more people are becoming aware of this bug. This is a form of griefing and exploiting, but then again Feedback and Wall of Reflection has been like that since launch.
