I went out of my way to distance myself from that image when creating my own characters. I don’t mind so much when lore gets broken, but the hows and why’s really kinda irritate me.

I suppose what upsets me more are the WoW-exiles who equate them with Tauren just because they have horns.

I’m pretty sure the fact they both have ugly armor has something to do with it, too.

I use the bomb kit, personally. Grenades are too mainstream. (though I still have grenades and rabid gear set aside)
My build is 30/10 (at least)/0/10/10 (at least), with the rest of your points depending on where you want to spend them. The trait choices should be either obvious or situational.

I’ll still stick with P/S, because I favor the skills more.

Guess the pessimists were right about turrets being excluded from the health buff. ~_~

Tool kit is like a mace-and-shield build. It’s got decent melee power (nowhere near as good as bombs, though) and an amazing block. Oh, and some other skills I guess.

It should work after the change from “if moving” to “if further than 600 yards.”
Also, the poster above you necro’d it from before it was fix. It should work now. (though I still wouldn’t take it)

Don’t take Sigil of Strength and Battle. All sigils that have a cooldown share that cooldown with each other. Both Strength and Battle have cooldowns, so they will only hurt each other. Generally you want to look for 1 sigil with a cooldown (they tend to be more powerful), and 1 that does not.

Hm… what other sigil would be recommended? I suppose I could go for bursting or accuracy…
Still not sure about gear: they both seem promising… though I might go for rampager because we already have high health and it’s easier to acquire. (CoF, CoE and AC)

Hm… I’ve been looking at Guanglai’s thread. I guess rampager gear with berserker jewels (I assume he means trinkets?) is the way to go?
As for the build: I’ve got my own idea, but I just like to see what other people take.
What runes do you use? I’m thinking of using 2 S. Mad King (last 10% for 100% condition duration), and 2 S. Monk/Water for 2x 15% boon duration (with 20 in alchemy, 50%) for… well, everything, but might stacks generally.
For sigils, I assume Strength and… something. Probably Battle.
As for Sharpnel vs. IP: I’ll probably take IP only on bosses, and if there’s no one else applying burning. It’s not like switching between them takes much effort. (there’s a guardian in my group, but he’s a zerker, so it’s just the passive thing they have… not sure about PuGs I might have to resort to at times)

So assuming I can hit the bleed cap (or close) without sharpnel, I should stick with IP instead? (I know I’m being captain obvious here, but I still need an answer for my thread. I just got to 80 and I don’t know what gear to buy XD)

So basically, if you can keep up 8+ stacks of bleeding, you don’t have to worry about giving it up for burning? (based on the sharpnel vs. incendiary powder argument in my gear thread)

This doesn’t make sense… Burning scales better with CD than bleeding, regardless of stacks.

Do they just cover them to imitate her, or do they actually gouge their own eyes out? Just curious.

While Rampager properly deals slightly more damage in solo PvE Berserker scales better in groups, so I advice you to not bother with Rampager in PvE.

I understand that. But I tend to play with certain people I know, not PuGs, and I know they don’t use (or focus on) condition damage most of the time. So even if they use conditions, I will probably override theirs.

Avoid ranger at all costs. It’s the only profession with a broken class mechanic non-PvP. They’ll help a bit with the upcoming HP increase to pets, but that won’t solve all of the OTHER problems.
Engineers are great and versatile, if you don’t mind the buggy, malfunctioning skills here and there. And carpal tunnels.
I haven’t played a thief, so I don’t know what to say, other than the fact it has a high skill floor (one of the squishiest professions).

Here’s mine. I kinda quit it, though.

My Charr engineer is named Pigeon Opener, because he’s a psycho, and it’s an anagram of Engineer Poop.

Would you recommend getting 100% condition duration? It’s already easy to get 70% with Koi Cake (which gives condition damage) giving 40% and the 30% from traits. I can get 20% more from 2 Giver weapons (which I can easily get my hands on). The last 10% can be from some runes I’ll decide on later. Thoughts?

@Konig: Hm… I might need more context for that bit with Snaff. Was it “expanded” more in previous/consequent paragraphs? Because as it stands, it feels like he’s paying for a destination change, as Narcemus said, but… From what I’ve read, it’s extremely hard and time-consuming to change the destination of asura gates. So how are we supposed to interpret the payment?

You can make a new character to transmute the start item onto a white/blue item in the bank to make it account bound.

I’ve been wondering which is better for a while. On one hand, you have much more condition damage, and decent precision to proc bleeds… on the other hand, you have maximized (probably) precision with some decent base power and condition damage.

I assume rampager would be better for general-purpose playing (so, for example, that extra bit of power would help against objects and so on), but I’d still like input.

Well, I’ve found that toughness doesn’t really help much. Even then, you mainly put points for the traits, not the stats. The traits in the inventions line are… eh. The 300 vitality from alchemy should be good enough.
As for grenades, there’s really no solution yet. The best you can do is to disable area of effect rings in settings.

Eh, unless you’re playing in WvW, there’s really no point in having 30 points in inventions… (even then, you probably wouldn’t)
Did you try a HGH grenade build? It should work well with your precision/condition damage, and you can use grenades on party members. Mind you, grenades =/= ranged. You shouldn’t stay too far. Not sure what kind ofbuild I’d recommend… probably 30/0/0/30/0, with 10 extra points wherever you want to invest them.

So if you stick around in LA mainly, you’ll notice that asura charge for their gates. (the most common observation is the charr complaining about the extra fee for oversized items).

I would understand being free if they didn’t require energy and only needed minimum maintenence, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. So what gives?
Is it just a case of gameplay and story segregation?

Pretty much all races have one useless choice. (I think the only one where it isn’t true would be Charr, but your sparring partner is both useless and short-lived)

That actually sounds like a nice suggestion. Maybe you can find an NPC at your Order’s headquarters and do the same; at least it’ll give them some meaning besides having access to vendors.

According to the description, the letter is from Tybalt Leftpaw (which is probably true, though the wording could indicate it’s from someone else arranging the meeting).
But more importantly, there’s no name there. How did my character know what that lovely, hot hunk of a charr’s name is? When you meet him, he introduces himself as if you don’t know who he is…
