Any guide that doesn’t suggest refining materials to ~425 (I think I went to 428) then make oils/sharpening stones etc and reselling them on the TP to 450 at almost no cost is a guide written by monkeys that have more money than sense.

This argument is not misleading in the slightest.

If I have food on my guardian that gives 20 boon duration, I’m not getting 200 stats and 20 boon duration. I’m getting 20 points into the virtue tree worth of boon duration. These are two very distinctly different things.

Also there is nothing permanent about food. At all.

That being said I believe that some food is completely imbalanced compared to other food and that some food is too good in general, such as the -40% condition duration food as well as few other egregious offenders.

Had four separate TW guys engage me in combat first (on land and in water) and then run away when they started losing. Then I finally get a TW guy that doesn’t run and after he’s dead he groups up with me to troll me (see above) ….. as I’m congratulating him on a good fight, lol.

You can only learn and improve by your mistakes. Running will not improve skill. Stay and challenge yourself.

And nope, not wearing any of the new runes, or specced for roaming.

Whats the reason for someone to fight a 1v1 when he doesn’t have a 1v1 build at all.
I run a tanky support warrior and I don’t try to get in 1v1 because I simply can’t win it against roaming builds.

Most of our people run zerg builds.
Just saying.

Well the simplest solution it would appear is to not engage me in a fight then. If you come at me and try to kill me, I’m going to do my best to defend myself. If you come at me and try to kill me, then start losing and run away, well then that’s just silly. I realize that every server has people who do this, but I’ve come to expect a bit more from TW and the caliber of players they are reputed to have. If I’m watching one after the other after the other, all from the same guild, start running for the nearest tower or keep when they start losing (after they attack me first), well you can see how I’m starting to form an opinion. The other solution has been to call in five others if they are failing at winning. This is constructive, believe it or not, on my part, and urging you to get out there and roam a bit. If you manage to improve skill enough to do well solo fighting or even 3v1 fighting, that translates into zerg pushes too. Running away doesn’t show you where you failed to time a spell or attack properly.

Yer not the only one who spends the better part of their night in WvW every night chasing [TW] members across the map. A lot of times it feels like when you separate an animal from their herd, they will do everything in their power to get back to that herd. Though of the 2 total SoR players that have actually stayed to fight me in the past month, hats off to you for having a pair.

I always run large scale combat builds, I always fight 1v1 battles when they occur, I win many and I lose some but I never run. I take my double down like a man.

I think you’re mistaking the intent here. It less avoiding 1v1 and more doing what you’re supposed to do.

I run with a guild and when we have an objective and you die and release, you don’t roam around looking for 1v1s, you try to get back to your group and back to whatever objective you’re working on. I think you’re being intentionally daft to prove your point.

To further this, when I’m running a group specific spec, I could verywell be running a guardian with stuff like full consecrations to fit group comp. If I have sanctuary and stuff on my bar, or swapped in Retreat/Save Yourselfs for swiftness to get back into the fight, I have literally zero interest in fighting you 1v1 sperglords when I have bigger fish to fry.

Park your ego and consider the possibility that people in WvW are working on objectives that require more than one person and maybe, just maybe, their avoidance of you is less to do with their testicular fortitude, and more to do with the fact that on their totem pole of priorities, you’re about dead last. Sorry <3

so why does a bg guild leader asks sor for a 30v30 night and we see this. Does the bg guilds talk to each other about this kind of things?

Is this really even worth posting? Sorry to be a wet noodle, but I just did a quick count and I see 50 nameplates there, and I can only conclude the following:

1) That’s really not that absurdly large of a group. Vale is a difficult cap and can be a huge gamechanger on taking the steam out of a server’s push without 250/250 sitting there at all times.
2) That’s a pug group, there is no majority guild representation in there or anything close to it.

I’m all for hating on huge megablobs, but this is just a rather large group of randoms you have there, do you really expect one of the like, two ESOL guys from that group to come in here and be like, “Oh sorry dudes, I’ll tell all these random motherkitteners to stop doing objectives together.”

If you are okay with 1 weapon stacking, but you are not okay with every sigil being changed to a permanent on-kill bonus such as my example, you cannot fault anyone for not being okay with a few sigils working this way.

It’s arbitrary for only these 3 sigils to work in this fashion and nothing else. They are the anomaly that should be removed/fixed.

For example, PERSONAL could just as easily refer to the fact that only the owner of the item can summon his PERSONAL merchant. It’s completely reasonable to assume that in some alternate universe the PERSONAL adjective in the item name means that only you can summon your PERSONAL merchant, but that others may use it. The PERSONAL flag is not inappropriate in this situation, even when others can use your PERSONAL merchant.

So no, when there are multiple reasonable options, it is not evident in the description and it is not reasonable to assume that one is true.

Ho boy, okay since you’ve clearly processed absolutely nothing of what I said let me dumb this down for you a bit.

The adjective ‘personal’ can refer to more than one thing about the merchant express item. Because of this fact, you cannot reasonably assume that it should apply to whether or not the merchant, once placed, will be usable by others. As I’ve demonstrated, personal can mean a lot of different things, not necessarily having anything to do with who can actually use the merchant once placed.

To further add to the confusion, the placed merchant is completely indistinguishable from any other merchant visually in-game, on the minimap or otherwise.

Hopefully this clears this clears things up for you. The issue is that whether or not it’s like this in GW2, it is not made known BEFORE you buy the item and find out for yourself.

I am not really a fan, personally. I realize I don’t have to buy it, but with the slight to large power creep each of the skills adds, there’s definitely a feeling of being left out for not having the skills trained up.

I think it’s perfectly within the game’s manifesto and it’s been done plenty of times before. If people want to kill a certain type of monster and can get to a greater number of them by failing a phase of an event, all the power to them. There’s nothing preventing someone who wants to complete the event from doing so aside from increased difficulty due to upscaling, and it’s been shown that a few people can effectively succeed this event even if they have only the intent to stop people from farming.

I do think that it’s too effective for the difficulty and that should be looked at, but calling for people to be banned over this is silly.

There’s no way for you to define the worth of something for someone else. You’re paying for the convenience of freeing up 1-15 slots of your inventory.

Some people think infinite use resource gathering tools are a complete waste of money, others don’t. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it? The goal is to create convenience items that people will buy if it suits them, but not to create items that people feel obligated to buy. Infinite use master quality salvaging for 3c would be OP and people would feel obligated to buy it.

People have the most hilarious skew-o-vision when it comes to representation in fights in every single open world PvP game ever to exist. I think it should have a name.

Butte’s Constant:
In fights, enemy representation will always be reported in the top three quintiles ( -50%/-25%/25%/50%/100%) of their actual size, while allied representation will always be reported in the bottom two quintiles. Also, enemy skill level is trashcan while own skill level is demi-god.

FA’s commanders are what happened.

Most days I avoid TS like the plague. The only thing worse than hearing “stack on me” every 10 seconds, is the endless whining about people not stacking.

…and for the love of god, most of our commanders want us to stack to go from Mendon’s to Speldon’s camp.

To each their own, I suppose. I breathe a sigh of relief when I hear someone actually commanding because it means the fights won’t be unorganized messes resembling a herd of cats.

So now that achievement points have a value beyond some kind of arbitrary gauge of character progression and activity, can we have WvW achievement points overhauled (retroactively?) that gives a more accurate reflection of time spent doing it?

Out of hundreds of hours spent in WvW and thousands upon thousands of kills representing enormous amount of effort, I have less achievement points to show for it than 2 hours spent maxing two crafting skills.

It would be nice to be appropriately rewarded for our efforts since the system is HEAVILY skewed towards certain activities (basically anything not having to do with WvW).

Take your siege tactics to the next level with the Build Master and Repair Master World vs. World ability lines! Use Build Mastery to build siege weapons more quickly, or put points into Repair Mastery to use Supply more efficiently for repairing walls and gates.

Current in-game features on guild menu are sorely lacking. Here is an example to demonstrate this:

Here is a list of actions upon logging on to Guild Wars 2:
1) Log In.
2) Hit “G” -> See that people are in WvW.
4) Ask in VOIP/Guild Chat what WvW map everyone is in.
6) Hit “B” -> Go to Borderland guild is at.
6) Ask where everyone is.
7) Ask who has room in a party -> Join party
8) Go

Here is what should happen:

1) Log In
2) Hit “G” -> See what BL people are in and (x/4) of people in Parties.
3) Right click guild member and select “Join Party”
4) Right click guild member and select “Join Map”
*If guild member is pinned up, this should be evident in the guild menu and “Join Squad” should be in the right click context menu. Additionally, all people in the squad should show mapwide as dots like a party (possibly a different color for clarity).
5) Go

The current method of having to fish for information that should be readily available is tremendously obnoxious and having to answer “YO WHAT BL WE IN!?” “WHO HAS ROOM IN THEIR GROUP?” 25 times a day is unnecessary and annoying. None of these seem too difficult to implement as they already exist in other facets of the game and would dramatically increase the quality of life of people that WvW on the daily.

Previously skill lag seems to have been restricted to large 3-way fights, which generally kept it contained to SM and Garrison battles.

Since the patch I’ve been noticing it (with slightly decreased severity) in large 2-way fights at tower and keep fights. Which are quite frequent.

It’s more about mitigating damage, rather than reacting too damage. That 2 seconds of blocking can do so much more for you than any of the other heals.

Agreed. I used to run the Signet of Resolve a lot, but learning how to utilize all of my utilities, plus the passive 10 sec. condition removal trait, Shelter is just very very good, especially if you’re running with high Healing Power.

What? The healing coefficient is the lowest of all 3 on Shelter. The more HP you run, the worse shelter gets comparatively.

For me personally Signet makes the most sense. As stated earlier, it really becomes a nobrainer with signet recharge traited.

even with the signet trait do the math on how much you can heal for every second of the recharge and signet still blows shelter out of the water, i dont understand how anyone could think shelter is better than signet

Because if you time it right and you’re getting additional health from AH it can outperform signet in very specific situations with a lot of focus fire on you. But to say that it’s better with high healing power is right in one way, and wrong in a much bigger way.

OP. I run a set doing exactly what you’re attempting to do.

What you’re looking for does not exist. I compromised with a mix of Knight’s prefix armor mixed with a couple Orr armor pieces for vit and emerald jewels.

Still 3 green jewels, but the rest is exotic and it equates to 42% crit without food, 2.1k toughness 16.4khp (21k with orb buffs) and 3,320 armor.

It’s not balls-to-the-wall crit, but it works just fine.

I’ve seen this mentioned multiple times on the forums already, but no response from any staffers. I figure this is worth its own thread, as it’s one of my huge gripes with this game (as well as some of my friends).

I recently switched from playing a warrior to playing my guardian. Specifically, an almost entirely support based guardian using scepter+shield/staff and shouts on utility skills.

The first problem is the DE rewards for your participation: they don’t seem to take into account buffs, healing or anything other than straight damage dealt to the event monsters/objects. Using empower as an example, I can increase people’s power at my level by about 1260 at my current level, which more or less doubles most people’s damage. Applying this buff to upwards of 20 people in a large event would amount to me contributing tens of thousands of damage. What does the game award me with? Zip, ziltch, nothing. I was actually shooting myself in the foot by channeling for 4 seconds and not helping out. Another instance of this: healing. I have 2 heals on my staff skillbar, my healing breeze which heals multiple people in a cone, and regeneration on a shout. In addition to these I have two forms of protection (33% damage reduction) from a shout and my shield offhand to further mitigate damage to players. My contribution input for these are seemingly nothing, as I consistently get bronze/silver contribution levels when my auto-attacking warrior contributing a FRACTION of what my guardian does would easily obtain gold level participation in what I would consider most if not all events that I went to where I didn’t come in late.

The second problem is monster loot. While I’m busy protecting people that are dealing the damage so that we can better succeed at the mission, I am not tagging monsters and getting loot. So I have to choose between keeping my team alive with heals and boons, and auto attacking with my staff to tag the incoming monsters. This is not in any way ideal or acceptable. The loot issue also arises with classes who are simply unable to tag monsters quickly and effectively, such as elementalists, whose spells often have a delay associated with them. When in many of the larger events, monsters will often die before the ground targeted AOE spells will even hit.

So there it is. Those are my two main gripes with Dynamic Events in their current state. It would be greatly appreciated if ArenaNet could address these (hopefully sooner than later) as it really does take a lot of the fun of events being shoehorned into playing my character other than how it was desgined to be played because I simply cannot get rewarded properly for my efforts for playing my way. I can also imagine it being frustrating when classes simply don’t have the tools to be competitive for tagging mobs.

A small village lies in utter destruction. Thatched-roof huts emit acrid, white smoke into the air, charred bodies scattered haphazardly. The approaching company looked on in disbelief. What had been a remote epicenter of life in this frontier was completely devastated.

“My God, it’s all gone” the army private said, to nobody in particular. “Any idea what could have done this?” now addressing the Captain.

Just as he was about speak, a dark figure shambled from behind a smoke column towards the soldiers. A small child, probably only ten, slowly made his way through the wreckage.

The private ran to the child, dropping his gun behind him and fell to his knees before the boy. He clutched him by the arms and said, almost yelling, “What the hell happened?! Who did this!” But the boy only stared off into the woods flanking the remnants of his home.

“Say something!” The private screamed, almost in tears.

The boy slowly turned and made eye contact with him, a single tear escaped his eye and began to clear a path through the soot and dirt down his face. The private raised his hand and rubbed the tear from the boys face, smearing it across his cheek.

An explosion rumbled off in the distance and reverberated through the valley, shaking leaves loose from the trees. Bravo company looked at each other uneasily, unsure of what unknown forces they were dealing with.

“Lance… the boy murmured.”

I have posted twice in this thread (Page 4 and Page 8.) to no avail. Going on 9 days now

I’m not sure if this was the plan from the getgo, but my friend has completely lost faith in your support team and I don’t blame him at all. He was hacked on 8/28/12 and submitted the ticket the next day on 8/29/12. Since then he has received a handfull of copy-pasted TL;DR canned responses and two actual responses that would be resolutions to his issues if the information provided actually worked. At this point he has basically given up and is actually considering buying a new copy of the game and re-leveling his character because the support is so bad.

If this is not enough information to identify his account, PLEASE let me know so I can get more info from him. Seriously, I appreciate that you guys are supposedly making an effort to prioritize these issues and correct them, but with no follow-through after 9 days what’s the point.
